Through the influence of these artists, Higham took up the guitar in his early teens and joined his first band whilst still at school. In 1992 he spent 6 months living in the USA; touring and recording with Eddie Cochran's original backing band, The Kelly Four. His first solo album was released in 1995 on Nervous Records, entitled Mobile Corrosion. Higham played lead guitar in the West End production of Elvis: The Musical in 1996. He co-wrote the first biography on his musical hero, Eddie Cochran for Mainstream Publishing in 2000. Along with solo albums and records released with his Rockabilly band, The Enforcers, throughout the 90s and 00s, Higham also played lead guitar and produced many other artists. He co-owns Embassy Studio in Hampshire and oversees a great many sessions there. In 2007, Higham started work with Stray Cats drummer, Slim Jim Phantom. Together they recorded 2 albums and toured Europe, even making an appearance on BBC's Later With Jools in 2012. In 2011 he shared the lead vocal duties with Imelda May on the Jeff Beck DVD and subsequent CD, A Rock 'n' Roll Party. He has played guitar for Robert Plant, Jools Holland, Imelda May, Sharon Shannon, Shakin' Stevens, Jeff Beck, Billy Lee Riley, Rocky Burnette, Bono, Paul McCartney, to name but a few. Darrel is endorsed by Gretsch guitars, Peavey amplifiers and TV Jones pick-ups. If you've ever gone to big room techno hubs like Time Warp, DC-10, Awakenings or Rotterdam Rave, then Anfisa Letyago's name should be familiar to you. But Letyago actually comes from underground roots; before she played to thousands of people from the beaches of Ibiza, she was releasing on legacy labels like Hotflush, Kompakt, Nervous Records and Rekids, and collaborating with old guard artists like DJ Pierre. In this RA Exchange, the Naples-based DJ and producer talks about the strategy she employed to make it to the top. Having become enamoured with Carl Cox during her first days of raving in Naples as a university student, she flew to one of his gigs and stood outside his hotel with her tracks on a USB. She was delighted when he took them and played them in his set that night. Shortly thereafter, Cox booked Letyago to play his curated stage at Ultra Music Festival and has since acted as a close mentor, teacher and friend. Today, Letyago is preparing a live audiovisual show, Partenope, which straddles the boundary of techno and vocal-led pop. She also started her own label, NSDA—an homage to a volcanic island near Naples—and is preparing her first full-length album to be released on a sublabel of Sony Music. A rising star from Spain, Fran DC has become known for his killer DJing skills, thanks to his roots as a pro Hip-Hop scratch DJ. For the next CLUBCAST @WhitneyWeiss delivered a bangn hour of Rhythmic Pumping House Music...right up my alley :) US-born Europe-based DJ/producer Whitney Weiss got their formal start playing 8+ hour stretches in Argentinean factories and parks before cutting their teeth as a resident at Dengue Dancing, a decadent weekly party in Buenos Aires. After five frenetic years in the Buenos Aires underground, they relocated to Berlin for a quieter pace of life. Based between Berlin and Paris for over a decade, Whitney's held residencies in London (Dalston Superstore) and Paris (Club Sandwich, Strangé) and DJed all around Europe, the UK, and New York, including repeat sets at some of the queer underground's best parties and festivals. She's also logged performances on The Lot Radio, NTS, and Teki Latex's French TV Show Overdrive Infinity. He has spent years chasing that sound and that feeling around the globe as an international DJ. For him DJing is all about people. He is addicted to the way music connects people and makes for better days. Dicky really broke through as a DJ and producer in the Nu Disco/Disco Revival years from around 2004. In particular, his run of DJ edit, original and remix releases alongside Balearic House hero Pete Herbert on Disco Deviance and Maxi Discs led to him becoming an increasingly in demand DJ with a busy international touring schedule. He is also rumoured to be the force behind the rather legendary Secret Squirrel vinyl only imprint. But who knows??? It's a secret. Since those early days, Dicky has toured constantly around Asia, Australia, Central/South America, USA, Europe and the UK sharing the music and the sound he loves. He has also become a regular at a long list of high profile festivals including the legendary Glastonbury, Electric Elephant, Mareh, Love International, Festival No 6 and many more. Dicky is also a mainstay of the local scene in his hometown of Dundee, Scotland where he was a resident of the infamous ‘Small Town Club' aka Reading Rooms for over a decade. At nights like Autodisco, Disco Deviance, A Night With and Non Stop, he learned his trade playing alongside many of his heroes and legendary DJs from around the world such as Andrew Weatherall, Optimo, Rahaan, Jazzie B, Horse Meat Disco, Farley Jackmaster and many more. Dicky also ran and curated the well-respected House music label Home Taping Is Killing Music for many years putting out a run of amazing releases. Home Taping broke a number of great House artists who have gone on to become household names in the scene including The Blessed Madonna, The Revenge, Nicholas, Borrowed Identity, Eddie C & Medlar amongst others. Dicky continues to discover, produce and remix music for a number of quality imprints including Razor-N-Tape, File Under Disco, Home Taping, Barefoot Beats, Nervous Records and many more. He has also remixed major artists such as Bryan Ferry, Belle & Sebastian, L'Impératrice, Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice), Danielle Baldelli, Faze Action, The Orielles, Golden Dawn Arkestra and Tensnake down in his basement studio. Most recently Dicky has been creating original music alongside NYC music machine JKriv under the name Sentimental Animals for the Razor-N-Tape imprint. Their Love Vibration EP was very well received by disc jockeys around the world and has been played by the likes of Craig Charles who made it one of his Tracks of 2021 on his BBC Radio 6 Funk & Soul show. Dicky became a resident DJ at Pikes in Ibiza in the summer of 2023 playing in every area - poolside, terrace, Freddies, bathtub - in this legendary club. He also kick started a monthly radio show out of Ibiza called International Sounds on OpenLab Radio where he showcases the music he discovers, makes and plays while travelling around the globe. As a disc jockey, DT packs a little bit of everything into his sets of International Sounds and is committed to the idea that music and club nights should be all about escapism, joy and togetherness. B. Cox and J Owe look back at Black Moon's debut classic album Enta Da Stage as it turns 30. The Brooklyn trio made up of DJ/producer DJ Evil Dee and emcees Buckshot (fka Buckshot Shorty) and 5ft began their journey in high school, shopping around demos and looking for a deal. Impressed by the group, they signed with Nervous Records and was given the green light to record their first single "Who Got Da Props?".Featuring smooth samples with crisp drums and impeccable cuts, the album spun tales of life in Brooklyn and with Buckshot and 5 ft expertly wordsmithing pictures that painted a dark picture for listeners and observers.Featuring the likes of future Boot Camp Clik mates Smif-N-Wessun, Dru Ha and Havoc from an also upcoming rap group Mobb Deep, the album featured a similar motif and sound like other groundbreaking New York-based rap albums like Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers, Midnight Marauders,The Sun Rises In The East, Ready to Die and Illmatic over the next 12 months that have been credited with helping to bring a focus and emphasis back to East Coast hip-hop in the midst of a dominant West Coast run.The album, while not selling well commercially, was widely acclaimed by fans, particularly underground heads and the media alike. John Buck  - The Polecats - in conversation with David Eastaugh The band were first signed by the fledgling British rockabilly record label Nervous Records, and recorded their first single "Rockabilly Guy" at guitarist Alan Warner's "Lane Studios" in 1979. Formerly with the "Foundations" band, Warner toured and recorded with the Polecats for about a year. In 1980, the band signed to Mercury Records, and released their most successful LP, Polecats Are Go! They had UK chart success with a David Bowie cover, "John, I'm Only Dancing", a reworking of "Rockabilly Guy", and another cover version of the T-Rex (Marc Bolan) song "Jeepster".[2] In 1983, they hit the charts in the United States with their song, "Make a Circuit with Me".John Buck replaced Neil Rooney in 1982 playing drums.
