Caitlin Fullam Creates Surreal Landscape Photography Beyond the joys of landscape photography, Caitlin Fullam has a deeper motive to go out and create. “These photos were an escape for me during a dark time,” she told us in a recent interview. She aimed to create out of this world images that made her feel like she was escaping the world she felt trapped within. She certainly accomplished her goal, not just with herself, but for us too. Spending time with her photography lets us forget reality, even only for a fleeting moment. Check it out here. Alicja Zmysłowska Combines Dogs and Landscape Photography Love dogs? Mesmerized by landscapes? If it's a yes to both, you're going to love the photography of Alicja Zmysłowska. She finds the most beautiful locations and places man's best friend in the center of them. She doesn't Photoshop the dogs into her landscape photography. Instead, she allows the human to stay with them (with a leash) and then photoshops them out. Zmysłowska has a range of cameras and lenses at her disposal, turning to the Canon 5D Mark III, the Canon 5D Mark IV, and the Canon EOS 5DS for her bodies, and the Canon 16-35mm 2.8L and the Canon 135mm 2.0L for her glass. Check out her full story here. Paolo Pettigiani Landscape Photography Goes Infrared Peru and Bolivia are home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in Latin America. So many photographers hit these spots to create landscape photography. Because of that, Paolo Pettigiani decided to put his own twist on things. Opting to shoot with Kodak Aerochrome, a now-discontinued infrared film roll, Pettigiani made a series of images that stand on their own. We're glad he still had access to the film roll! Check out his here. Ludwig Favre Makes Haunting Images Ludwig Favre began his journey in photography at the tender age of six. And it's a passion that's stayed with him ever since. He shoots his haunting, mysterious landscape photography in Oregon, a part of the States known for its glorious nature. Favre uses a Panasonic Lumix S1R and pairs it with the Panasonic Lumix 16-35mm f4 to make most of his work. However, he also uses the DJI Mavic 2 Pro to offer a different perspective. This camera uses the Z-mount and offers a 21MP CMOS sensor with a 209-point Hybrid AF System. But unlike the Z6 & Z7 it does not have in-body image stabilization. But it’s also smaller and lighter than the Full Frame Z-Siblings while still offering Nikon-like grip and ergonomics. It has a 20MP m4/3 sensor with a 121-point phase and CDAF and a 50MP high-res mode as well as 30 fps burst and 10fps with continuous AF shooting modes. On the video side it shoots 4K up to 24p and Full HD up to 60p is supported. The EVF now moved from an LCD to an OLED system which should improve the viewing experience. And Olympus continues to make their cameras more weatherproof - a feature that I have started to appreciate - when it works - in recent months. The E-M5 MK III is now IPX-1 rated. While the sensor and amount of AF pixel stayed the same, the new processor improves overall responsiveness and AF tracking reliability. The mechanical shutter can now shoot 10 fps. A second UHS-II SD card slot also improves the ability to offload the images fast to SD-cards. But the upgrade from 100 Mbit to a built-in Gigabit Ethernet port plus implementation of 5GHz ac Wi-Fi also helps to offload the images quickly to the photo agencies.   Sony a9 II B&H: https://bhpho.to/34cqILW     Leica SL2 Leica announced an update to their Full Frame SL camera line. The camera has a 47MP FF CMOS sensor with CDAF and now finally a 5-axis IBIS is built-in. A 187MP high res mode enables the user to create huge high-quality prints. And a 5.76M-dot OLED EVF is also a useful improvement. The camera allows for 10 fps burst shooting with mechanical shutter and locked AF which drops to 6fps in continuous AF mode. And pretty much all of these are the specs of the Panasonic Lumix S1R, too. But the Leica does have a different body design and it has a beautiful top plate LCD as well as 2 SD-card slots instead of the 1 SD and 1 XQD slot on the S1 and S1R. What’s lacking on the Leica is a tilting LCD screen. So langsam wird es eng bei den spiegellosen Vollformatkameras. Neben Sony, Nikon und Canon steigt nun auch Panasonic in den Ring. Letzte Woche wurden Details zu den Kameras vom Hersteller bekannt gegeben. Ich möchte über die Details mal sprechen, auch wenn es noch keine belastbaren Tests über die Kameras gibt. Im Hintergrund steht natürlich immer die Frage: Vollformat Systemkamera, brauche ich so was? Welche Gründe gibt es dafür?
