In this Summit Special, Jason and Danny are joined by McLean and Erin from Hello Tomorrow Films, storytellers with nearly 20 years of experience crafting deeply emotional wedding films. They dive into one of the biggest mindset shifts a filmmaker can have, realising the wedding day itself isn't the story, it's just the setting. The real story is everything that brought the couple there. From uncovering emotional arcs and personal journeys to designing intentional shots that reinforce themes, this episode explores how powerful storytelling actually works inside wedding films. They discuss how to identify meaningful moments before the wedding day, how questionnaires can reveal hidden storylines, why conflict doesn't mean drama, and how intention, not gear, is the real ingredient behind emotional films. They also talk about designing shots that visually reinforce story themes, capturing meaningful audio, and how being present and prepared on a wedding day can transform your edits. The conversation also explores burnout, creative overwhelm, and how their tool Plotline was built to help filmmakers find story structure faster, reduce editing paralysis, and get straight into the creative part of the process. If you've ever struggled to find the story in your footage, or felt stuck staring at a timeline wondering where to begin, this episode might completely change how you approach editing forever.
In this episode, Jason and Danny tackle a question every wedding videographer eventually has to face: how many weddings is actually too many? They dive into the reality of overbooking, burnout, editing backlogs, and what happens when your business starts running you instead of the other way around. From 50+ wedding seasons to stacked second halves of the year, they share honest reflections on pushing capacity, learning the hard way, and recalibrating what success really looks like. The conversation moves into practical territory, including calculating your true financial target, understanding turnover vs salary, protecting editing days in your calendar, outsourcing strategically, and why knowing your numbers is the only way to build a sustainable career. They also debate whether wedding shows are still worth it in 2026, reflect on last week's slow-motion controversy, put Jason in the hot seat for a brutally technical round of I Do IQ, and finish with a Reddit Rabbit Hole story that escalates from heartfelt speeches to absolute chaos at a Scottish wedding. If you've ever wondered whether you're taking on too much, or not enough, this episode will help you figure out your own limit before it figures you out.
In this Summit Special, Jason and Danny are joined by Jack and Shannon from Forever Curious for a deep conversation about the parts of wedding filmmaking that matter long after the cameras are packed away. They explore the emotional and strategic reasons behind Forever Curious returning to their original name, why brand identity needs meaning not just aesthetics, and how listening to your audience can reveal what your business really stands for.Shannon dives into the mental game of running a creative business, shifting from filmmaker to business owner, reconnecting with your “why,” and building a business that supports the life you actually want, not just one that looks successful on paper.Jack breaks down his background in professional sound design, why audio is often the most undervalued element of wedding films, and how intentional sound, foley, and real-world audio can dramatically elevate storytelling. They discuss capturing sound on the wedding day, avoiding over-reliance on AI cleanup, and why the brain always knows when something feels fake. This episode is about more than filmmaking techniques. It's about identity, purpose, and the small creative decisions that separate good wedding films from unforgettable ones.If you want to reconnect with why you started, improve the emotional impact of your films, and build a business that feels aligned rather than exhausting, this one will hit home.
In this episode, Jason and Danny look back at the things they were convinced really mattered when they first started their wedding filmmaking businesses, and why most of them turned out to be completely unnecessary. They talk honestly about gear obsession, buying cameras and lenses they didn't need, wasting money on microphones, and the belief that owning the same kit as your favourite filmmakers would somehow fast-track success. Danny shares why remortgaging his house to buy equipment was a huge mistake, while Jason reflects on years of overbuying in search of marginal improvements. The conversation moves into what actually makes a difference, experience on a wedding day, storytelling, anticipation, education, mentoring, styled shoots, and investing in things that help you get booked rather than just feel prepared. They also cover second-hand gear, why simplicity often leads to better films, the value of premium music, hard drives being the least exciting but most important investment, and why you don't need the latest flagship camera to shoot great weddings.Alongside the main topic, the episode features the Lumix Lottery, a lively round of I Do I.Q with Danny in the hot seat, and a wild Reddit Rabbit Hole story involving a groom's “surprise guest” that absolutely nobody asked for.If you're starting out, thinking about upgrading, or questioning where your money is best spent, this episode is a much-needed reality check.
The short answer is yes, but there's so much more to learn from what Panasonic is doing, and how they think.
In this Summit Special, Jason and Danny are joined by Micaela from Get It Together to break down one of the most misunderstood topics in the wedding industry, paid advertising.Micaela shares how she booked over 90 shoots in a year, many without relying on Instagram at all, and explains why Google Ads have become the backbone of her business, especially after relocating to Scotland. The conversation covers search intent vs interruption marketing, how couples actually find suppliers, why not everyone needs to be on Instagram, and how being visible where people are already looking can unlock bookings you'd never reach through social media alone. They also explore niche targeting, proposal and elopement work, corporate opportunities, why bland ads often convert better than creative ones, and how videographers can stop copying what everyone else is doing and build a marketing system that suits their life and priorities. If you're burned out on content, questioning Instagram's role in your business, or curious about paid ads but scared to try again, this episode will completely reframe how you think about visibility and bookings.
It's Episode 100 of That Wedding Videographer Podcast, and Jason and Danny are kicking off Season 3 properly, with new lights in the studio, new segments in the show, and a big topic that's been taking over wedding filmmaking lately, interviews at weddings. They chat about why Alex Weldon of Molehill Media is raising the bar in the UK scene, what makes interview-led wedding films so addictive, and how to actually pull this off on a real wedding day, from choosing the right location and using natural light, to deciding whether dinner is the best time to grab people without dragging them away from the fun. They also dig into what separates a cringe guest message from a genuinely emotional, story-driven interview, the kinds of questions that unlock better answers, and why the best “interviews” feel more like a conversation than a script. On top of that, they introduce three brand-new features for Season 3: The LUMIX Lottery, where a random topic gets pulled from a box, I Do IQ, a weekly wedding and video quiz, and the Reddit Rabbit Hole, kicking off with an absolutely unhinged wedding email thread that spirals into chaos.
In this Summit Special, Jason and Danny are joined by Sarah Craig of Joy Story Photography and Weeva, one of the UK wedding industry's go-to experts on CRMs, workflows, and backend systems.Sarah shares how she runs multiple businesses at once without losing her mind, why workflows are not scary, and how a properly set-up CRM can save you hours every single week. They break down what a CRM actually is in plain English, the biggest mistakes videographers make when setting them up, and why most people either overcomplicate things or never get started at all.The conversation covers automated workflows, lead management, inquiry replies, client portals, payment reminders, personalising emails without sounding robotic, and how to keep the human touch while still using automation. Sarah also shares practical tips you can implement right now, including Gmail templates, simple lead workflows, and how to map your entire client journey. They also talk about AI in workflows, why you should never blindly trust automated replies, and how tools like Wedola are changing the way wedding suppliers manage their businesses. If admin, emails, and client management are overwhelming you, this episode will genuinely change how you think about running your wedding filmmaking business.

It's Episode 99 of That Wedding Videographer Podcast, and Jason and Danny are feeling a little reflective. In this milestone episode, they look back on nearly 100 weeks of podcasting, how far the show has come, and why it still feels wild that they've kept it going every single week. From recording in their very first tiny studio to building a full-blown community around the podcast and the summit, it's a moment to pause and take stock. They also share what's changing on the podcast going into Episode 100, including new interactive segments, a listener quiz with prizes, audience participation, and fresh ideas to make Thursdays even more fun and engaging. There's talk of behind-the-scenes wedding content, YouTube plans, summit season, prizes, BTS videos, editing tools, workflow upgrades, and why the next chapter of TWVP is all about community, not just content. If you've been listening from the start, or you've just joined the ride, this one's a perfect bridge into the future of the podcast.
In the very first Summit Special of 2026, Jason and Danny are joined by Daniel Yates of Daniel Yates Films, one of the busiest wedding film editors in the UK and an industry pro appearing at the TWVP Summit.Dan shares how he went from filming weddings to becoming a go-to editor for videographers drowning in backlog, and how he now edits well over a thousand wedding films a year while still shooting his own. They dive deep into what actually makes fast editing possible, including strict deadlines, removing emotional attachment to footage, building repeatable systems, templating projects, organising footage properly, and why preparation outside the timeline is the real secret to speed.Dan also explains his day-slot editing system, how he reverse-engineers his edits, why breaking projects into small chunks keeps momentum high, and how he avoids the biggest time-wasters most videographers don't even realise they're doing. If you've ever felt buried by edits, overwhelmed by backlog, or stuck in slow, inconsistent workflows, this episode is packed with practical takeaways you can start using immediately.
January is here, engagement season is officially underway, and if you're a wedding videographer feeling that familiar mix of relief and panic, this episode is for you.Jason and Danny kick things off from their brand-new office space before diving into the realities of enquiry slowdowns, why December always feels terrifying, and why January almost always proves your business isn't “going under” after all. They break down what engagement season really looks like, how enquiries naturally dip and surge each year, and why it's easy to spiral when leads slow down. The conversation then moves into practical territory, covering Instagram activity, evergreen ads, boosted posts, landing pages, and sales funnels, plus how both of them are approaching paid ads going into 2026.They also talk honestly about what has worked, what hasn't, the shelf life of ads, the importance of hooks, and why organic-performing content often converts best when you put money behind it.If January ever makes you question your entire business, this one will feel very familiar.
In this episode, Danny and Jason ease into the new year with a real, honest conversation about something every wedding filmmaker wrestles with… packages. From highlights vs feature films, to whether couples actually want five minute films or a handful of short reels, we unpack how client expectations are shifting and why many of us are offering things simply because “that's how it's always been done.”We talk about:• Why highlight films can end up feeling like a condensed version of the same film • The rise of short form wedding content and what Gen Z couples might actually want • Using teasers, same day edits, and reels as both client value and marketing fuel • How too many options can cause decision paralysis • Protecting your brand when it comes to raw footage • Whether “whole movie” wedding films actually have more long term value than we think • And how your messaging often matters more than your pricingIf you're heading into a new season and questioning what you offer, how you offer it, or why you offer it at all, this episode will help you rethink your packages with intention instead of habit.
It is officially 2026 and your favourite wedding filmmaking pod is getting a glow up. In this episode Danny and Jason reveal the big change happening next month, including a brand new studio space and the start of Season Three. They also get real about business goals for the year ahead. Faster delivery times. Better workflows. More Super 8. Cleaner customer experience. And finally letting editors take the stress out of the backlog so the business can work for you not the other way around.Listen in for inspiration and then tell us in the Facebook group what changes you're making this season. January is your reset button. Use it.Come join the That Wedding Videographer Podcast Community on Facebook. Drop your business name on the entry question and we will approve you.
In this Christmas Day special of That Wedding Videographer Podcast, Danny and Jason slow things down, have a laugh, and reflect on what's been a huge year for the show and the wider wedding videography community. From controversial Christmas dinner opinions and Yorkshire pudding chaos to behind the scenes stories from the TWVP Summit, the lads look back on the moments that defined 2025. They talk honestly about the pressure of putting on their first in person event, the fear of whether it would actually work, and the pride of seeing it all come together on the day. There's also time to reflect on the growth of the podcast, the guests who made the biggest impact, and what it's meant to hear from videographers all over the UK who tune in every week on the way to weddings, edits, and shoots. It's a reminder of why the podcast exists in the first place, to share real experiences, build community, and make videographers feel a little less alone in the madness. This episode isn't about tactics or trends. It's about gratitude, perspective, and closing out the year with a bit of humour and honesty before heading into what's shaping up to be an exciting next chapter.Merry Christmas from TWVP.
December hits different as a wedding videographer. In this episode, Danny and Jason talk candidly about why leads always dip this time of year, why that's completely normal, and how easy it is to spiral when inquiries slow down and editing deadlines stack up. We dig into the pressure we put on ourselves around Christmas delivery, how couples actually think about timelines, and why clear communication beats silent stress every single time 094 This time of yearWe also cover:Why December is the worst time to panic about marketingStaying visible on Instagram without burning yourself outHandling “will it be ready for Christmas?” messages properlyWhy under-promising and over-delivering protects your sanityPractical ways to keep the needle moving when creativity is lowIf you're deep in the editing cave right now, feeling guilty for not posting, or worrying that your business is slowing down… this one's for you. You're not behind, you're just in December.
This week Danny and Jason sit down in their Christmas jumpers feeling the December burnout and dive straight into a huge summit update. There's been a change to the speaker lineup, some exciting new additions, and a whole lot of behind the scenes about how the 2025 TWVS Summit is shaping up.They chat about editing backlogs, house moves, parenting chaos, why Bride & Groom Video's new UK pricing finally makes outsourcing make sense, and how tools like Plotline Pro could be about to save everyone hours in the edit. You'll also hear the full rundown of this year's speakers and industry pros including Maclean & Erin, Becky Kinross, Ben Journee, Jack & Shannon, Dan Yates, Micaela Lindsay, and Sarah Craig, plus what each of them is bringing to the table. And with sponsor support higher than ever, the boys break down why the ticket price has dropped, what that means for accessibility, and why 2025 is shaping up to be the biggest and most valuable summit yet.If you haven't yet grabbed your ticket… now's the time.SPONSORSLUMIXA huge thank you to Lumix for supporting the podcast. In this episode, we welcome the wonderful Lou from Rather Lovely Films — a filmmaker whose work blends cinematic polish with the warmth and charm of a modern home-movie aesthetic.Lou shares how an unexpected career path through teaching, journalism, and even working on rollercoasters at Alton Towers helped shape the way she approaches weddings today. We talk about the transition into self-employment, why being around people energises her creative process, and the surprising overlap between managing a classroom and managing a wedding. She opens up about imposter syndrome, redefining success, and why it's perfectly valid to prioritise family life over chasing destination weddings. We also dive into her love for Lumix, her obsession with the Sigma 50mm, and her bold move into camcorder-only packages — plus how a simple same-day teaser can elevate the couple experience without adding stress. This is a thoughtful, heartfelt and genuinely uplifting conversation about creativity, confidence and carving out your own path in wedding filmmaking.SPONSORSLUMIXA huge thank you to Lumix for supporting the podcast. It seem that every 4-5 years a ground breaking camera sensor comes out. In 2020 Sony released the A7S III which completely changed the game for filmmakers across the board with the technology and features it offered. 5 years later we haven't really seen anything ground breaking from Sony and I know there are certain people who may be looking at jumping ship to Canon, Nikon, Blackmagic or Lumix. I don't blame them as every other manufacture has pound for pound way more tech and features than Sony's current line up. So why am I sticking with Sony? Give this episode a listen and find out. We're back with the legend himself, Jeff Wood, almost exactly one year after our first conversation about his bold move to start shooting weddings on iPhone. This time, Jeff returns with real-world experience, surprising lessons, unexpected drawbacks, and a genuinely compelling case for why phones may have a bigger place in wedding filmmaking than most are willing to admit. We talk about: • What Jeff discovered after a full year mixing iPhone and pro camera shooting • The big advantages clients actually notice • Why shallow depth of field might be overrated • Jeff's favourite rig setups and the surprising strengths of mobile sensors • The challenges he faced (including ghosting, low light quirks, and lost luggage chaos) • How the rise of content creators is shifting the industry • And Jeff's passionate pitch for entering the British Wedding Film Festival before the deadlineIf you're on the fence about entering your work, Jeff breaks down exactly why this festival matters for the future of wedding filmmaking and why every filmmaker — whether seasoned, emerging, or experimenting — should consider submitting.Sponsors • Bride & Groom – use code TWVP75 for £75 off your first edit • Musicbed – world-class music for filmmakers • Lumix – use code TWVP at the Lumix store for 10% offTune in, get inspired and maybe… just maybe… rethink what you shoot weddings on.You all know this by now.... reviews mean the world to us! I had the pleasure of sitting down, virtually, with Anson & Co for this episode. Some of you may know him from this YouTube channel where Anson offers gear reviews for Sigma and Lumix oriented content, but like with anyone I have on the podcast I want to know their story first and foremost. What inspired them at an early age and how that inspiration for stories led them on the journey they currently are.
