Steve Beres and Ike Goss catch up on a busy week of Land Rover projects and travel plans, including Steve's upcoming trip to Canada to retrieve a green early-'90s Defender 300 TDI high-capacity pickup that's been stored with family in Vancouver/Canmore, with plans to convert it into a Camel Trophy–style support truck for the NORRA rally and address pickup duty by adding seats. They riff on Canadian stereotypes and discuss the Calgary Stampede, including rodeo events and chuckwagon racing. Ike shares Pangolin4x4 shop updates: a newly purchased Series II 109 pickup after a five-year delayed acceptance, progress fabricating one-off window hardware for a coachbuilt “Woody” wagon, reverting an off-road-built short-wheelbase pickup back to stock-ish spec, building a marine blue 109 wagon, and planning an 86-inch restomod with a fuel-injected 2.8L four-cylinder. They also preview the national rally in Ouray, a 1927 Harley-Davidson pickup in Fort Collins, and a potential Series 1 Whipsaw Trail trip, plus tease upcoming guests Jeff Aronson and possibly Sarah Price.

This BaT Podcast episode, recorded on a particularly active day for the motorcycle shop next door, sees Alex, Randy and Cam choosing the best of the transitory period between the late '50s and mid '60s. They set the stage with politics, the state of American optimism, and the top film, music and motorsports events of the year before picking their favorite vehicles in the Sports Car, Truck/4x4, Family Hauler, Daily Driver, and Wild Card categories. Along the way: driving a DB4 in flip flops; wildly varying opinions on the '60 Galaxie lineup; a country sedan that isn't; big honkin' Brit cars; light name-calling; a tight race in trucks; a helluva deal; an aquatic detour in high style; an aspirational rush into GT territory; overloading a Giulietta TI; a sad Mini merger; and a most honorable mention. Links for things mentioned in this episode:0:57  All previous auction results for model year 196014:58  1960 Porsche 356B Super w/ GT Fuel Tank17:07  1960 Fiat-Abarth 750 Sestriere by Zagato20:18  1960 Aston Martin DB4 4.225:10 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster26:50 Targa Florio-Class-Winning 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato34:36 Confusing Name: 1960 Ford Country Sedan36:31 1960 Citroen DS1936:36  Citroën Spring T-Shirt in the BaT Gear Store40:01 Ex–Alfred Hitchcock 1958 Bentley S1 Continental Saloon by Mulliner41:08 LQ4-Powered 1960 Bentley S2 Continental Flying Spur by H.J. Which Porsche Do You Actually Buy? — Part Two Right where we left off. You've got the spec sheet in front of you, the price ranges are real, and the question the crew has been circling the whole episode finally lands on the table: if you had to write the check today — daily driver, PDK only, traffic more often than mountain roads — which one do you actually buy? Thank You to the Kimchi Crew and Our Listeners Before we get into it, a quick thank you to everyone who's been riding with us. The messages, the DMs, the comments — you guys keep this thing going and we genuinely appreciate it. This community is something else, and we don't take that for granted. Now. Back to the cars. So What Would You Actually Daily? The ground rules are simple: PDK only, because this thing is going to sit in traffic far more often than it sees a sweeper at elevation. Fun matters, mountain roads matter, but they're the exception. The question is what works best when the exception isn't happening. The crew goes around the table — 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 at 394 horsepower and 309 torque, ranging $75k to $90k. 718 Cayman GTS 4.0, same numbers, slightly more money at $80k to $95k. The turbocharged 718 variants — S at 350 horsepower and 309 torque, GTS at 365 and 317 — with Boxster money starting in the $40k range and Cayman topping out around $75k. Then the 991 world: the 991.1 Carrera with the 3.4L naturally aspirated flat six, 350 horsepower, 287 torque, $50k to $70k. The 991.1 Carrera S stepping up to the 3.8L, 400 horsepower, 325 torque, $60k to $85k. And then the 991.2 — 3.0L twin-turbo making 370 in the base and 420 in the S, with pricing from $75k all the way to $110k depending on how deep you want to go. Which One Wins and Why The goal isn't a one-day car. It's a ten-year car — longer if possible. Daily, fun, occasionally on a real road, and something you don't want to get rid of. That framing changes the calculus immediately. This isn't poverty spec shopping, but it also isn't money-is-no-object territory. You want to save where saving makes sense without ending up in the wrong car. For the crew, the 991.1 Carrera S keeps rising to the top. The 3.8L naturally aspirated flat six is the engine you'll still be talking about in year eight. Four hundred horsepower, 325 torque, the sound is unreplicated, and the maintenance story on a well-sourced example is manageable in a way the 991.2's turbo system eventually isn't. The 718 GTS 4.0 is an emotional argument that holds up — but it's a smaller, louder, lower car that earns its keep on roads, not commutes. The 991 wraps the same soul in something you can actually live in. And the 991.2, for all its numbers, takes you out of naturally aspirated territory in a way that matters over ten years of ownership. Get on the Road — Fahren 2026 If all this has you thinking about what it actually feels like to drive one of these cars on a real road with real corners, Fahren 2026 is the answer. October 13 through 16, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina — 27 spots, and the kind of driving you'll be talking about for years. Head to pcartalk.com for details and get your name in before it fills up. Outro That's the show. Thanks for listening. If you want more, join the Pcar Club at Patreon.com/pcartalk. Which Porsche Do You Actually Buy? — Part One The question sounds simple until you actually start answering it: if you're shopping PDK because this car is going to sit in traffic more days than it sees a mountain road, which Porsche makes the most sense? The lineup starts with the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 and Cayman GTS 4.0 — both making 394 horsepower and 309 torque, with the Boxster ranging $75k to $90k and the Cayman $80k to $95k. Step down to the turbocharged variants and you're at 350 horsepower in the S and 365 in the GTS, torque actually matching the 4.0 at 309 and 317 respectively, with Boxster money starting in the $40k range and Cayman topping out around $75k. The 4.0 is the easy emotional answer. The turbo variants are the practical one. The hosts work through both. The 991 Enters the Conversation Just as the 718 debate starts to settle, the 991 world opens up and complicates everything. The 991.1 Carrera with the 3.4L naturally aspirated flat six makes 350 horsepower and 287 torque and can be found in the $50k to $70k range — the 991.1 Carrera S bumps that to 400 horsepower with a 3.8L and asks $60k to $85k. Then the 991.2 comes in with the 3.0L twin-turbo making 370 horsepower in the base car and 420 in the S, and suddenly you're looking at a very different ownership proposition from a very different price bracket. We're just getting into it — Part Two picks up right here. Outro That's the show. Thanks for listening. If you want more, join the Pcar Club at Patreon.com/pcartalk. Follow us on Instagram @pcartalk. Further on the large seven-seat MG QS SUV – available in two models – I’m driving the MG QS Essence all-wheel-drive, $50,990 drive-away with electronic adaptive suspension, nine-speed automatic, six drive modes, powered by a 2.0- litre turbo pure petrol 153kW engine with excellent torque. Engine performance is average with noticeable lag from rest although the strong torque makes up for its initial hesitancy. However, the nine-speed automatic can become lazy on a light throttle. The high point, the adaptive suspension, well-tuned and damped with a superb ride, polished in cornering however the steering is over assisted, and lacks feel but grows on you with time. The MG QS needs a diet of 95 RON premium petrol, economy is quoted at 8.8L/100km, the best I could muster was 9.7. But importantly as a value package the MG QS offers much – for a large family three accommodating rows for seven passengers, many comfort and convenience features, quality perforated leather trim and a nice interface of central touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. However, some aspects of the touchscreen menu can be frustrating. MG provide a 10-year/unlimited km warranty, conditional on regular servicing through their dealer network, but its expensive - $3,618 over the first five years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome back to EV News Daily. Today we're taking a look back at an intense week of EV launches and debuts at the IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich. IAA this year showcased an unprecedented transition toward electrification across all manufacturers, with nearly every debut featuring some form of electric or hybrid propulsion.  Chinese manufacturers demonstrated particular strength in battery technology and pricing competitiveness, while established European brands focused on premium features and performance electrification. The show marked a clear inflection point where electric vehicles are no longer niche products but mainstream offerings across all segments and price points. Most dairy farms are trying to push the envelope from the conventional 4L of milk replacer per day to a higher volume to support lean structural growth of replacement heifers. Concerns of ruminal leakage resulting in fermentation has been cited as a concern, but is that based on an incomplete picture?  We know microbial protein offers a nearly perfect alignment of amino acid requirements for the bovine, however nutrition programs have discounted milk replacer to exclusively providing rumen undegradable protein (RUP) – protein that skips the rumen and is absorbed in the abomasum. Marcos Marcondes, researcher from the Miner Institute, wanted to see if feeding higher volumes would change the flow of protein and energy to the calf and the physiology of the rumen, due to leakage. To test this question he fed a standard rate and double rate of milk replacer with colbalt to mark and track the flow of digestion through preweaned animals. Leakage was found in the rumen on both treatments, but the results were positive. Energy, in the form of volatile fatty acids, and microbial protein added to the fuel for these growing animals.  Listen in to better understand the kinetics of digestion and questions that still remain for this phase of production. FOTOS DE RAFA Autor: Rafa Irusta, Canon 1D Mark III - Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, EXIF: 1/13s f14 ISO100 24mm
