SPOILER: If you don't want to listen to this podcast episode, I am going to list the reasons the GX9 is bad for video...and it's more than not having a microphone jack, and it's a sad story (listen to this episode for those details).WHY It's bad (for VIDEO):1. The most important thing is, the video footage that comes out of the 4K PHOTO Mode (where you can get the 4:3 aspect ratio "open gate") looks bad...kind of mushy... don't know how else to say it. When you compare the footage, with the exact same settings, from the LUMIX G95, the GX9 footage looks similar FROM A DISTANCE but it is "mushy" (is not sharp, and more). So sad.2. There is no microphone jack on the GX9, and we know that part, but it needed to be mentioned.3. There is no way to change the "Luminance Level" in the video mode on the GX9. You can do it on the G95, but the GX9 doesn't include it in the menu system, so you don't really even know FOR SURE what it is. However, I figured out (from various information on Panasonic's website) that they always use 0-255 for 4K or 6K PHOTO Mode, so you can kind of force it into 0-255 with that mode, but the footage is bad (mushy) in that mode, so the only mode you can use is the regular (16:9) video mode...which is probably 16-255.4. The Panasonic LUMIX GX9 has a 30-minute recording limit (the GX85 did not, so I'm not sure why they wanted to go backwards for the capabilities on the GX9).
From the GH1 to the GH7, in this episode I rank every memorable Micro Four Thirds video camera and discuss which models I think were the best of their time. Whether you're a Panasonic Lumix fan, indie filmmaker, or camera nerd, this episode is for you.

On the Creators Hub podcast, Dusty Porter interviews YouTuber Rich Bowlin (over 200,000 subscribers with under 250 uploads), a retired attorney and CEO of a religious nonprofit whose channel began after making iPad tutorial videos for his 90-year-old mother; the episode is dedicated to her after her recent passing. Rich explains how early "wisdom" videos flopped but simple iPhone/iPad how-to content for seniors took off, leading to monetization at 1,000 subscribers/4,000 watch hours and a growing side hustle. He describes focusing on a clear niche, using analytics to refine topics, upgrading from basic iPhone filming to a home studio with multiple Panasonic Lumix cameras, and streamlining production with custom Claude-built apps, Final Cut Pro, and AI help for ideas and thumbnails. He shares revenue sources (ads, sponsorships, Amazon affiliates), lessons on underpricing sponsors, and encouragement that YouTube still offers major opportunity with perseverance and improvement. About Rich: Retired attorney. CEO of Religious non-profit. My YouTube journey began when my siblings and I bought my 90 yr old mother and iPad. She struggled using it so I made a short tutorial for her to watch. That video got quite a few views so I ended up making a few more simple videos for seniors on how to use their iPad and iPhone. Should cross 200k subscribers this month. An amaziing journey. Connect With Rich: YouTube Channel /// Website What We Offer Creators Join Creator Communities. Manny Ortiz was robbed of $16,000 in camera gear. Our friend Luis was FOLLOWED HOME an hour to be robbed of his medium format camera gear. It's NOT the photographers fault - cameras make us targets. They're easy to steal and extremely easy to sell because they're basically the last remaining piece of technology that has no anti-theft technology. ONE COMPANY has implemented anti-theft technology already, and it has reduced the resale value of stolen gear by 50% - thus reducing the profit margin for thieves by signifcantly more than 50%. EVERY CAMERA COMPANY needs to take some basic measures to make theft more difficult and less profitable, and that includes Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Hasselblad, Panasonic Lumix, OM System and Leica. But not Pentax. Nobody is going to steal your Pentax.

Photo, Video, and the Future Just spent the last two days in LA, at UCLA, and I'm feeling insanely inspired. Why? Some thoughts: The first observation that I have made is that it looks like media, entertainment, shows, cinema film vlogs, are the future. Why? Let us just look at all of the advertising and the new products; all of the new interesting digital cameras are all centered around video and vlogging, and also making cinema. Think about the new compact canon cinema camera, and also the new Panasonic Lumix cameras which are phenomenal for vlogging and video. And cinema. What do nerds and everybody share in common? It doesn't matter who you are, it looks like everybody loves media. For example, all nerds like to watch TV shows, cinema, films, entertainment etc. Also if you think about all age groups, whether it be newborn kids, kids, toddlers, teenagers, adults, middle-age people, the elderly, etc.; everybody watches YouTube, and or Netflix or something like that. What can you do about it? Everyone has different life goals and different life pursuits. For myself, I am interested in directing our energies towards things that we can actually do ourselves, with no gate keepers, no restrictions, 100% freedom and control. It seems that the most straightforward answer then is having the ability to record videos, and just upload them online, whether it be to YouTube or your own self hosted videopress.com account (linked with your WordPress.org Website Blog) via WordPress.com Why self hosted video instead of YouTube? First of all, the simplest and most straightforward way to build your own solo media empire is just making a website blog via bluehost.com and installing wordpress.org. Own your own domain. Ideally your first name last name .com, or you could just make it your first name last name photo .com, or your first name last name photography .com. For example, I own Erickim.com, Erickimphotography.com, as well as Erickimphotography.com/blog. In the very long term, your domain name, and your website name, and the .com domain will be critical. Why .com? To me it is the only legitimate domain name, something that everyone can actually remember. Let us consider google.com, facebook.com, twitter.com, apple.com, amazon.com, etc. What is the goal?

Landscape photography is fun for both the consumer and the creator. The consumer gets to enjoy remote parts of the world they may not have otherwise seen. And the creator gets to have the thrill of adventure and the sense of tranquility that often accompanies this type of photographic practice. Of course, we've shared plenty of stunning images made by the best landscape photographers around, and in this article we're going to celebrate our favorites. You can view this article and much more with minimal ads in our brand new app for iOS, iPadOS, and Android. Cath Simard Turns Her Landscape Photography Into NFTs Cath Simard joined us as a guest on Inside The Photographer's Mind. She's an introvert who loves going on long hikes alone and creating images nothing short of mindblowing. She's used her photographic style to tap into the NFT market. In this podcast, she told us she'd made more money through NFTs than in her whole photography career. Check out her story here. Caitlin Fullam Creates Surreal Landscape Photography Beyond the joys of landscape photography, Caitlin Fullam has a deeper motive to go out and create. “These photos were an escape for me during a dark time,” she told us in a recent interview. She aimed to create out of this world images that made her feel like she was escaping the world she felt trapped within. She certainly accomplished her goal, not just with herself, but for us too. Spending time with her photography lets us forget reality, even only for a fleeting moment. Check it out here. Alicja Zmysłowska Combines Dogs and Landscape Photography Love dogs? Mesmerized by landscapes? If it's a yes to both, you're going to love the photography of Alicja Zmysłowska. She finds the most beautiful locations and places man's best friend in the center of them. She doesn't Photoshop the dogs into her landscape photography. Instead, she allows the human to stay with them (with a leash) and then photoshops them out. Zmysłowska has a range of cameras and lenses at her disposal, turning to the Canon 5D Mark III, the Canon 5D Mark IV, and the Canon EOS 5DS for her bodies, and the Canon 16-35mm 2.8L and the Canon 135mm 2.0L for her glass. Check out her full story here. Paolo Pettigiani Landscape Photography Goes Infrared Peru and Bolivia are home to some of the most beautiful landscapes in Latin America. So many photographers hit these spots to create landscape photography. Because of that, Paolo Pettigiani decided to put his own twist on things. Opting to shoot with Kodak Aerochrome, a now-discontinued infrared film roll, Pettigiani made a series of images that stand on their own. We're glad he still had access to the film roll! Check out his here. Ludwig Favre Makes Haunting Images Ludwig Favre began his journey in photography at the tender age of six. And it's a passion that's stayed with him ever since. He shoots his haunting, mysterious landscape photography in Oregon, a part of the States known for its glorious nature. Favre uses a Panasonic Lumix S1R and pairs it with the Panasonic Lumix 16-35mm f4 to make most of his work. However, he also uses the DJI Mavic 2 Pro to offer a different perspective. You can see his work here. Send Us Your Landscapes! We would love to see your landscape photography if you feel it's worth our attention. You can send it in using the form below. If we like it, then we'll be in touch about giving you a feature. Which was your favorite landscape photographer from the selection above? What gear do you enjoy using when making landscape images? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. Want to get your work featured? Here's how to do it! Lead image by Caitlin Fullam. All images used with permission. Links to certain pieces of gear are included in this article. The Phoblographer gets a small cut from any purchases made via the links. It helps us keep the lights on, and we thank you for your support.

The Panasonic Lumix GH6 is here, we take a look at the specs and news from Panasonic. We also get hands on and give our first impressions and review of the Lumix GH5 II all in a jam packed Camera News Podcast.
Initially released in the spring of 2019, Panasonic's G95 officially replaces the G85. It's their latest midrange model to sit above the GX9 and below the flagship G9 and GH5. Its predecessor was arguably one of the most popular recent releases from Panasonic. Video https://youtu.be/cs6Jwa6Eu_8 Post https://photographypx.com/panasonic-g95-g90-g91-review/
Initially released in the summer of 2020, Panasonic G100 is best described as a mini G90/95. And it offers quite a similar feature set, but in a more compact package. https://photographypx.com/panasonic-lumix-g100-g110-review/ Video https://youtu.be/fZ8j2J5JXMI

We have been hosting the B&H Photography Podcast Panasonic LUMIX S1 Sweepstakes for the past several weeks and, today, we are excited to announce the winners of the LUMIX DC-S1 Mirrorless Digital Camera with 24-105mm lens and the LUMIX DC-G95 Mirrorless Camera with a 12-60mm lens. With that in mind, we'd like to thank all of our listeners who left ratings and reviews on Apple Podcasts, and particularly those who subscribed to the podcast and mentioned a favorite episode. This kind of feedback is well appreciated and helps us to develop the kind of episodes we hope you enjoy. Before we make that announcement, however, Allan, Jason, and I reflect on our "photography New Year's resolutions" and discuss our personal photography projects from 2019 and the gear we have been using to make them happen. We start with Allan, who discusses his year-long process of culling his archive of images going back to 1969, including finding what he refers to as the very first "Allan Weitz photo." He also explains how he uses his Sony Alpha a7R II Mirrorless Digital Camera as his "Franken-slide copier" and some of the gear that has impressed him this year, including the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/1.1 lens and the Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 CF lens, and his thoughts on the just-announced Leica M-E (Typ 240) Digital Rangefinder. John continues with a brief explanation of the resolutions on which he is procrastinating, and on his return to street photography and attempts to work with the FUJIFILM X100F Digital Camera, the Ricoh GR III, and the Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) Digital Rangefinder. Finally, Jason updates us on his telephoto cityscapes, his abstract portraiture, the Sony Clear Image Zoom function and whether or not he purchased the Sony FE 100-400mm f/4.5-56 GM OSS lens. Join us for this enjoyable chat and check out some of the previous episodes of the podcast which we mention during this conversation, including our talks with Jay Maisel and Stephen Wilkes, our discussion about hard drives, and our talk with landscape photographer Erin Babnik.
