63 Disney Features, 28 Pixar Features, 20 Pixar Shorts, 7 Disney Direct to Home Video, 4 Disney Theme Parks, 2 Disney Novels, and 1 Stage Play. It's hard to believe it but over the last 5 years, the Disney Dummies covered and talked about all that and more while getting into the thick about the good, bad, funny, and weird about all things Disney. We originally sought out just to watch all the Disney animated feature films but ended up loving doing this podcast so much we stuck around for much longer for all the spinoff series. Alas, all good fairytales must come to an end so join us as we close this magical chapter in our lives and make way for new beginnings as we take a well deserved rest from the show. Pixar has done more than make some of the most beloved animated films of the last three decades. The "Pixar Magic" also extends to short films, where talented creators often have the chance to explore and experiment with fewer restrictions or expectations. This episode is dedicated to Pixar shorts, whether they were shown before a feature-length film or on television.
We go back the early days of Pixar and discuss the shorts the came before Toy Story. From the fist use of "What if (blank) had feelings", to the nightmare fuel of a clown and a baby. Shorts discussed: The Adventures of Andre and Wally B. (1984) Luxo Jr. (1986) Red's Dream (1987) Tin Toy (1988) Knick Kack (1989) Music from https://filmmusic.io "Glitter Blast" by Kevin MacLeod (https://incompetech.com) License: CC BY (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) The American Civil Liberties Union: https://www.aclu.org/ The National Network of Abortion Funds: https://abortionfunds.org/ The Trevor Project: https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ Reproductive rights are human rights. Got 2-5 minutes to spare? Good, because this week we're reviewing all of the theatrically released Pixar shorts. Known for being quirky, hilarious, and/or heartwarming snippets that set the tone before a brand new Pixar flick, some of these shorts stand the test of time and some... don't. We're going in chronological order from the very first creations by this powerhouse company to their most recent, and measuring how the shorts have evolved over time both in animation style and creative storytelling. So, do these shorts all receive a "hell yeah brother" from us? Or are we classifying too many of them as "nightmare fuel"? Let's find out together!
