It is a pleasure to welcome actress, dancer, and singer Nicole Huff to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Nicole began her career in the entertainment industry at 6 years old. She developed her passion for the arts while training in numerous dance styles such as ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, and lyrical. Nicole Huff is also a classically trained singer, pianist, and violinist. She also took figure skating, gymnastics, and karate lessons. Her love of the stage also drew Nicole to enter the beauty pageant world, where she won Miss All Canadian. Nicole's love for the entertainment world increased when she began booking commercial and voiceover work. She starred in various film and television productions, including Degrassi: The Next Generation, The Great Christmas Switch, Life with Derek, Private Eyes, and Tiny Pretty Things. She is also working on her first extended play with renowned music producer Roy Hamilton III, who previously worked with Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and the late Michael Jackson. Recently, Nicole Huff starred Netflix's Luckiest Girl Alive. Based on Jessica Knoll's best-selling novel, Luckiest Girl Alive follows Ani FaNelli (Mila Kunis), a sharp-tongued New Yorker who appears to have it all. Ani has a sought-after position at a glossy magazine, a killer wardrobe, and a dream wedding in Nantucket on the horizon. Her life is turned upside down when a director of a crime documentary invites her to tell her side of a shocking incident that took place when Ani was a teenager at the prestigious Brentley School. Making matters worse, Ani must face memories of her childhood bully - mean girl Olivia Kaplan (Huff), who targeted Ani, while they were in school. Actresses Connie Britton, Jennifer Beals, and Justine Lupe also star in the Netflix film. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Nicole Huff spoke about the roles of Gloria Chin (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and Paige Aquino (Tiny Pretty Things). She also talked about starring alongside Netflix's Luckiest Girl Alive with Mila Kunis.

Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast, we are talking to Kelly Conway, daughter of genius comedian Tim Conway. Many of you know Tim Conway from his television career on The Steve Allen Show, McHale's Navy and likely The Carol Burnett Show. Some may know him from his film career in Disney films like The Apple Dumpling Gang or The Private Eyes with Don Knotts among others, like Gus or The Prize Fighter. You might even know him from Spongebob Squarepants or 30 Rock. After all he was nominated for 13 Emmy awards and won six times as a performer and writer. But many of you may not know about Conway's impact on his brood of six, count them six children. We spoke to Kelly about her experience with dad and writing her book, My Dad's Funnier Than Your Dad. And you ain't kidding anbout that! Kelly recounts to us her life growing up in the San. Fernando Valley as the eldest and oldest in a house where dad made their living room a movie theater (with tickets, popcorn counter and turn style) or sewing slipcovers or sport coats himself. We talk about his relationship and her family relationship with Ghoulardi's Ernie Anderson (father of director Paul Thomas Anderson) as well as folks like Steve and Eydie, Mike Connors, Harvey Korman and Bob Newhart. We also delve into Kelly's story of how she fought for her father's healthcare during his later years and the legal battle she waged simply to see her father when his stepmother refused to allow her to do so. It's pretty heavy stuff and frankly, opened up the topic to host Josh Mills about his own issues with his mother's end-of-life healthcare as well. You will laugh, you might cry but you certainly won't forget this episode of the Rarified Heir Podcast with Kelly Conway. Take a listen.

If you've lived under two British monarchs and three Prime Ministers, you may only be a few months old. Recent events have been (almost) unprecedented, as since so much of the UK's image abroad can depend on our political representation, I touch on the topic of politics once again. This episode in in three parts: first I give context to recent events, especially the short tenure of Liz Truss; then in the longest part I address the many questions (below) I was asked on Instagram about our political events; and finally, I give a very brief bio of our new Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.I also suggest, thanks to an article in Private Eye magazine, that recent events are not *totally* unprecedented. If you live outside the UK, that fortnightly publication is my recommended rabbit hole. If you live inside the UK, then I'd suggest Prime Minister Spencer Perceval as a good rabbit hole.  Questions from Instagram: 20th October, carrying on throughout the week What now? Elections? Are you surprised? How close are we to snap elections?Who's your money on for the new Conservative leader? And will there be a general election? In the UK can you call a general election at any time?Bring back Boris? Will the Health Secretary also quit? She needs to.Will there be new surprises? Can Boris return? How is the public's reaction? Yours?Risk of the Tory coalition collapsing? Still relying on the DUP for support?Who is Penny Mordaunt? Why did Liz Truss want to abolish the monarchy but claim she is fit for her past majesty's government? How is this gonna end? Because I can't imagine the PM from the conservatives will survive?Do you want the next PM to keep Hunt as Chancellor? Questions from Instagram: 24th October onwards, after Rishi Sunak became de facto PMHis wife with the tax issue, how is that now?And will it be a problem that he is so rich? Seen by the general public? What are the betting odds for how long he will last?If he has to resign, beyond Mourdent and (ugh) Boris, is anyone in the running with a chance?Your hopes and thoughts on himWill he get into bed with Boris? He does have great style. Tailor made suits I believe? Larry the Cat is sticking around, right? and finally: What's your next sartorial Bond purchase? What's on your wish list?I do my best with all these questions, and hope I will not have cause to do another podcast on politics for a good long while!Message me anytime on Instagram, or e-mail: AlbionNeverDies@gmail.comCheck out my https://www.youtube.com/britishcultureCheck out my Red Bubble shopSomething that really is new is my newsletter. On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got a pair of singer-songwriters who don't sound much alike, but who've traveled similar paths and have similar outlooks on life—oh, and who did a duet earlier this year—Frank Turner and KT Tunstall. Turner is a sort of folk-punk troubadour who's built an incredible catalog and following over the past couple of decades from his home base in England. Like his hero Tim Barry of Avail or even Billy Bragg before him, Turner infuses truly catchy songs with a punk spirit, and he's made a career buoyed by the fact that he never stops moving: He's always on tour—including a recent “50 States in 50 Days” run—and always making new music. Not even the pandemic could stop him, though obviously it slowed down the live performance. During lockdown, Turner recorded his ninth album, a sort of back-to-basics affair called FTHC, which of course stands for Frank Turner Hardcore. Check out “A Wave Across a Bay” from that album, which was written as a tribute to Turner's late friend, Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit. Also on that album is a song called “Little Life,” which Turner decided after the fact that he'd like to invite someone else to sing on. Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall perhaps wasn't the most obvious choice, but then again, neither of these folks ever seems to make the obvious choice—and that's definitely to their credit. Tunstall's career, which stretches back to indie bands in the early 2000s, definitely started with a more mainstream-leaning trajectory, with BRIT awards and a Grammy nomination, even. But like Turner, Tunstall has a restless spirit, and some big life events not too long ago led her to sell everything she owns, move to Los Angeles, and dive into the world of musicals—where she has also, unsurprisingly, found success. And just last month, she released the final chapter in a trilogy of albums that were meant to convey the themes of “soul, body, and mind.” This one, called Nut—that'd be your mind—is great. Check out “Private Eyes” from that album right here. Turner and Tunstall have a really fun chat here, covering everything from The Clash and Bruce Springsteen to the weirdness of recording a song before you've ever played it live. The talk about the touring life a lot, and how that tribe of people have plenty in common, even when it seems like they don't. They come up with a slogan for Tunstall's career, and get into the reality of using a tour bus bathroom. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to KT Tunstall and Frank Turner for chatting. 1982 - May: 38 Special “Special Forces”

We've covered a number of underrated bands and albums, but perhaps the most underrated band of the 80's is 38 Special.  Formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1974 by Donnie Van Zandt and Don Barnes, 38 Special had a string of hits in the late 70's through the 80's including "Hold On Loosely,"  "Rockin' Into the Night," and "If I'd Been the One."  Special Forces is their fifth and most successful studio album, hitting number 10 on the Billboard 200.In addition to Van Zandt and Barnes, 38 Special's lineup for this album included Jeff Carlisi on guitar, Larry Junstrom on bass, Steve Brookins on drums, and Jack Grondin on drums.  A number of songs on this album were co-written by Jim Peterik, singer-songwriter and founder of the group Survivor.  Given the connection to Lynyrd Skynyrd (Donnie was the brother of original Skynyrd lead singer, Ronnie Van Zandt, and Junstrom was one of the founding members of Lynyrd Skynyrd), it is not surprising that their sound has its roots in Southern Rock.  However, 38 Special tended towards a more mainstream hard rock sound. The name of the group comes from an incident where the police were called on the band during a late night practice session.  The door was padlocked, and the police broke the lock by shooting it out ... with a 38 Special. Caught Up In YouThis is the first single and the big hit from the album, reaching number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Mainstream Rock charts.  Don Barnes sings lead on this track.  The lyrics are self-explanatory, extolling a girl with whom the singer is completely entranced. You Keep Runnin' AwayBarnes has the lead duties from this song again.  The lyrics describe a girl who has been burned in past relationships and has decided never to trust another man.  The singer encourages her to not give up, that "someday, someway, somewhere love is gonna find you."Back Door Stranger A deeper cut from the album, the lyrics describe a serial rapist sneaking around, and what will happen to him if the singer catches up with him.  "Take my chances, rather go to jail than see the eyes of a coward runnin' loose and well."  The guitar has a great wah-wah sound, and Donnie Van Zandt takes his turn on lead vocals for this track.Chain Lightnin' The thunder sound is striking as both the intro and the outro for this iconic song.  There's a little bit of a Pink Floyd echo to add to the mystery.  "And it's hotter than hell in the heavens tonight."  "And it's so tough when the satisfaction is greater than the risk."ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Ain't Got No Home by Clarence “Frogman” Henry (from the motion picture “Diner”)This novelty song was featured in the comedy-drama starring Steve Guttenberg and Kevin Bacon. STAFF PICKS:Big Bad Bill (Is Sweet William Now) by Van Halen Bruce begins the staff picks with a deeper cut off the Diver Down album.  This cover was originally recorded in 1924, and came to the band's attention when David Lee Roth recorded it off a late night AM radio station.  Jan Van Halen, Eddie and Alex's father, is featured in this song playing clarinet.Did It in a Minute by Hall & Oates  Brian features a hit off the "Private Eyes" album from duo Darryl Hall and John Oates.  It was the third single from the album.  The upbeat song is about finding love almost instantaneously.  Hall wrote this with his girlfriend Sara Allen and her sister Janna, who came up with the chorus.Find Another Fool  by QuarterflashWayne gets a second chance to feature Portland's own Quarterflash.  This rocking minor-key song peaked at number 16 on the charts, and is a break-up song after the girl has had it with her ex-boyfriend's cheating ways.  The name comes from an Australian slang phrase, "a quarter flash, three parts foolish."  Quarterflash is the husband and wife team of Rindy and Marv RossMore Than This by Roxy MusicRob's staff pick is the first single off Roxy Music's last album, "Avalon."  Bryan Ferry began writing the songs for Avalon while on the west coast of Ireland, and the music reflects the melancholy feel of the location.  The song has an unusually long synth-driven outro. COMEDY TRACK:Piss On the Wall by the J. Geils BandSometimes you just must be going.  However, we do recommend that you find a toilet first!

Enjoy two free detective episodes of Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator starring William Gargan A) 12/5/51 The Paper Bullets B) 12/12/51 Death and the Purple Cow Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator was a popular detective series heard on NBC from 1951 until 1955. Initially it was titled Barry Crane but soon became Barrie Craig. The series starred William Gargan as New York-based Barrie Craig with Ralph Bell as homicide detective, Lt. Travis Rogers. Craig liked to work alone and had an office on Madison Avenue. He solved his cases efficiently, and feared no one. He was billed as “your man when you can't go to the cops, confidentiality a specialty.” Craig's style was laid-back, which cut against the popular hard-boiled detective stereotype. Scripts were by Louis Vittes, John Roeburt and Ernest Kinoy. The series was broadcast from New York until 1954 with the East Coast's best supporting actors rounding out the casts. In 1954, through the end of its run in 1955, NBC moved the show to Hollywood with Himan Brown and Andrew C. Love serving as directors. The producers hired Blake Edwards to write and direct a 1952 Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator TV pilot, but it never sold. A few years earlier, William Gargan had played a similar character on radio and TV called Martin Kane, Private Eye. Maybe the reason Gargan was such a convincing detective is because he was a real detective prior to becoming an actor. He worked as a credit investigator and collection agent for a clothing firm. After that, he worked as a private detective with a New York agency for $10.00 a day and expenses. As an actor, Gargan played Ellery Queen in three movies before being cast as Martin Kane, Private Eye. After he left Martin Kane, Gargan signed a million-dollar, seven-year contract with MCA to star in Barrie Craig, Confidential Investigator on NBC.

An actor and an acting teacher in his native Canada, Robert Bellissimo has appeared in numerous television shows, feature films, commercials, and plays. Two recent credits include PRIVATE EYES starring Jason Priestly and ROBBERY, which starred Art Hindle as well.A passionate cinephile for twenty years, in his late twenties, he realized he wanted to explore storytelling in a more in-depth way. When the Covid-19 lockdown began in March of 2020, he took advantage of his free time and created his high-quality YouTube Channel Robert Bellissimo at the Movies. Reviewing and introducing viewers to some of cinema's greatest films, over the past two years, he's interviewed many industry professionals who work in and around theatre, TV, and/or film, including yours truly who's been honored to appear on the channel twice - the first to discuss Scorsese's GOODFELLAS and more recently, returning to tackle Hitchcock's NOTORIOUS as well.Joining me to discuss the life and career of his favorite filmmaker John Cassavetes, in this in-depth feature-length episode, we focus on the beginning, middle, and end of Cassavetes' oeuvre in the form of SHADOWS, A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE, and LOVE STREAMS. Additionally sprinkling in throughout our conversation some of the director's thoughts on filmmaking, acting, men, women, and life in general, this is an episode that I hope Cassavetes devotees will love.Theme Music: Solo Acoustic Guitar by Jason Shaw, Free Music ArchiveLogo: Kate Gabrielle - KateGabrielle.comOriginally Posted on Patreon (8/17/22) here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/70659691

Based on public record files of Cass County Police Department. Our goal through Private Eyes is to have the public hear audio from cases to explore investigations. In this episode, you will hear audio from CJ's interview with Cass County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Roy Barker. This interview was conducted two days after Dani Smith was shot. As you know from prior episodes, CJ was along for the ATV ride and also stayed by Jeff's wrecked ATV when it flew off the trailer. The investigators will point out differences in CJ's interview versus details Jeff gave in his as well as interview technique…or lack thereof.
