De voedingsbodem van die fascinatie zit ook deels bij Walt, zegt het zelfverklaarde Disneykind. Uit de Pixar-stal koos ze zonder verpinken ‘Finding Nemo'. Een film die uitkwam wanneer ze een coole tiener hoorde te zijn. Gek genoeg, was ze dat ook, toch had ze maar liefst twee exemplaren van de DVD. Als Latijn-nerd dacht ze eerst dat het een filosofisch traktaat betrof: ‘Op zoek naar Niemand'. Ze houdt nog altijd van de Vlaamse versie en bezigt nog steeds quotes uit de film in het dagelijkse leven. We stellen ons vragen als: Waarom is het woord anemoon zo moeilijk uit te spreken? Hoe fout was die tandarts in Sydney? En wat is de grote, biologische onjuistheid in ‘Finding Nemo'? We hebben ook een tong-trek-moment. En er is een beetje Leuven-nostalgie. Sorry, Antwerpen! In our last Pixar Shorts episode, we explored how Pixar built their animation techniques and technology that led them to an unprecedented run of success in the late 90's and the 2000's. For a while after the studio made their short film Knick Knack, they paused the production of short films to eventually make the feature-length hit Toy Story. They picked up production in 1998 when they released the short film Geri's Game. Thus, a tradition was born. Pixar has released a short film with every feature length film release starting with Geri's Game and A Bug's Life in 1998 and continues to do so to this day.For this episode, we are going to pick were we last left the Pixar short films. Starting with Geri's Game in 1998 to Day and Night in 2010, we are going to watch the wonderful short films Pixar has produced. From interesting behind the scenes stories, to interesting directors who got their start at Pixar by creating one of these great films. It's a short one but a good one!!
