Let me ask you, who would you want by your side when the zombie apocalypse hits? If you answered that your ideal survival team included three scouts, a strip club cocktail waitress and a whole lot of teen hormones and anxiety, then you've probably watched one too many movies. Luckily for you, that movie in question is the Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse, and let me tell you…it's not that bad.
The Harold & Maudecast reviews SCOUTS GUIDE TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, Now Streaming on Amazon Prime and other VOD services. Ben (Tye Sheridan), Carter (Logan Miller), and Augie (Joey Morgan), scout buddies for life, put their friendship to the test on the eve of their camp-out when they find themselves in the midst of a, yup, zombie apocalypse. After Ben and Carter abandon Augie to seek out cooler prospects at the cool kids party, Scout Leader Rogers (David Koechner) turns up zombie-fied as does much of the rest of the town. The boys gotta put their scout skills to the test to save the town. Luckily a hot but baddass cocktail waitress Denise (Sarah Dumont) is armed and ready to kick ass. Zombie purists will not like the liberties they've taken with the lore, we say, get over it. It's good campy fun with a few over the top scenes, that still made us laugh. And this film has some great action. Not so gory, not so PG13 either. It sits right in between hardcore zombie guts and glory and watered down for mainstream audiences horror/action. Cloris Leachman's performance as the bitch cat lady neighbor turned zombie is worth the price of admission. And big shoutout to Koechner who crushes it like the comedy pro he is as Scout Leader zombie who just won't die. 7/10 on our Justice and Doom Movie Meter.
