When we say "making disciples" is our mission, that means something very specific... At SRCC, a Disciple is a follower of Jesus Christ, displaying the character of Christ, fully equipped with the Word of God and empowered by the Holy Spirit to make other disciples that support the maturity of their local church and serve their community while considering opportunities to support planting other churches.

Elisha was a man who lived in the middle of a move of God. In order to step towards revival you have to step away from security. See how Elisha released revival in his life by removing the possibility of ever going back to his ordinary life. Are you ready to so the same?

When Elijah called Elisha to follow him, we see the example from Elisha of what radical, single-hearted devotion looks like to follow the Lord in discipleship. Elisha radically purged out any hindrance to his following the call of God by slaying his oxen and burning his plowing equipment too. He removed his back-up plan or his rainy day fund to pursue Christ. Our radical discipleship should look odd to the world, and should also make lukewarm Christians uncomfortable.
In our text Elisha had an encounter with the prophet Elijah. It affected him so profoundly, that he knew that he had to make a connection and try to experience more of what he had felt. The bible describes how Elisha sold out to follow Elijah. Not only did he offer the oxen as a sacrifice, he burned the plow that was his means of making a living. He did not want there to be any reason for him to go back to his former life. Our church is entering into a time of a building program. Not only are we still recovering from Hurricane Harvey, we are experiencing growth due to being in the midst of revival. God has great plans for our church and it will be a large undertaking to accomplish it. If our church is going to be what God wants and needs it to be, it will be because we commit to what God is doing in an all in kind of way. Young people have to experience and buy into the vision. Elders have to continue to pray and to mentor the young people. The future of this church resides in the prayers and efforts of all of us pulling together to accomplish what God has planned.
1 Kings 19:19-21. Elisha was plowing his fields. Things were good. He had a comfortable life. But God called him to something greater. God is calling us to something greater as well. As we kick off our series in the life of Elisha, learn how you too can discover something greater.

Transitions are a part of life. But sometimes we need to let go of certain things before we can move on to a new stage. Which things are holding you back? Which ones do you have to burn on the altar?

¿Alguna vez has tomado una decisión irrevocable?
How do we move from the moment of breakthrough to the place of fulfillment? When we get "stuck" in life how do we overcome that moment and move forward?
Sometimes God will reach out and touch you, and then step back to see what you will do. Once He calls you to something, He's not going to keep yelling after you, He'll just step back and see what you're going to do. He placed the ball in your court. It's your turn to make a move.

When times of change approach you in your life, you have to stop and ask yourself, "Is good enough, good enough?" In order to move forward into the destiny God has for you, it's time to shake off some old attitudes, to break old habits, and to step forward into a life of faith.
