Studying the fourth commandment, we are reminded there is an endless cycle of exhaustion here on earth and God gives us the commands to rest.

Are you tired? Feeling over worked? Are you resting in God? This week we continue in our Ten Commandments series as Brett focuses on the fourth commandment of keeping the Sabbath Day holy.
Rest helps us to remember God's work and realize the limits of our own.
Remembering the Sabbath... What does that mean in 2021? Isn't that just something for the Old Testament? Why do we worship on Sunday now when the Sabbath is a Saturday. In this message, we look at how the 4th Commandment still applies to us today and how it pointed to Jesus then.

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. [11] For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

COVID-19 has hindered work for us. It's stopped all of our extra-curricular activities. It has "un-busied" us and that may not be such a bad thing. Pastor Chris Kipp continues the "40 Days" series with a teaching on sabbath rest from Exodus 20:8-11 and Matthew 11:28-30. This recording is from an online worship service of Renaissance Church which aired on Facebook Live on March 22nd, 2020. www.ren-church.org https://www.facebook.com/renaissancerichmondtx
Parker Palmer, in his book A Hidden Wholeness, writes about farmers in the Midwest (think Minnesota, Wisconsin and the Dakota's) who would tie a ROPE from their house to the barn. Why? Because if they didn't hold on to the rope, they would get LOST in a blizzard. Which is why there are stories of men freezing to death just a few feet from their home (because they let go of the rope). God has given us some ROPE to hold on to (that will lead us back to Him) amidst the crazy, busy, insane way we live life today. Holding on to the rope is a way to stay human, a way to keep your emotional and spiritual health.

The Sabbath was given by God to all mankind in creation and to the nation of Israel specifically at Sinai. The question for us today is whether or not New Testament Christians should observe the Sabbath or has it been done away with altogether. This sermon examines this Command how it applies to us today.

We exist to ignite a passion in every person to glorify and enjoy God everywhere and in everything.
We are often like the pharisees, in that we miss the relational intentions that lie at the heart of God’s commands. Today we talk about the Sabbath rest in the OT and what it means for us today.
