All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story.Jesus Christ, our older brother, was a healer. He asked us to love one another. So let´s follow in his footsteps. A year ago, I stopped. I stopped doing one of the things I loved the most. I stopped because I was overwhelmed. I stopped because I was chronically burnt out. I stopped because I started doubting my purpose. It felt like a wise and mature decision at the time. Maybe it was But what I slowly began to realize was that I stopped doing the thing that, when it came to my work, was one of the most life-giving. Now, it's back. But better. For ten years, I've loved talking about the PIES because it changed my life. I was depressed. Stuck. Anxious. He introduces the idea of "emotional first aid" and why we need a psychological toolbox to stop that downward spiral. Guy breaks down the difference between how we respond to physical pain versus emotional pain. "We go to the medicine cabinet for a physical injury, but we have no cabinet for emotional injuries." He explains why we must learn emotional hygiene: "The injuries don't just go away." We also discuss how emotional neglect works and the long-term consequences of unacknowledged wounds. "The mind does not heal itself. The mind broods." Finally, Guy offers a new model for how to respond when people open up to you emotionally. "Start with compassion. You can offer logic later." You have to do the course. It's the same with emotional first aid." Practice emotional tools consistently, not just once. "Rumination is like a psychological infection. And so what you need to do is stop the infection from spreading." Interrupt rumination cycles early. "You have to override your own instinct." Starting Sept. 13, the Pumpkin Festival: Play by Day, Glow by Night is back—and it’s bigger, brighter, and, honestly, a little more magical this year. At night, the park transforms. Picture this: Cinderella floating through the air in a sparkling gown, lighting up a massive pumpkin tree. Then there’s the glow-in-the-dark pumpkin parade—floats, fairy tale characters, and a dance party you can’t help but join. Oh, and the grand finale? The World’s Largest Pumpkin Drone & Light Show, complete with fireworks. By day, it’s all about family fun—rides, glowing pumpkins, and even mini-golf. This runs through Nov. 2. STORY 2: Gwinnett Democrats blast federal, state leaders over raid at Hyundai-LG plant Gwinnett County leaders didn’t hold back Friday, slamming federal and state officials over a massive immigration raid at the Hyundai-LG plant in Bryan County. Nearly 475 workers—many South Korean nationals—were arrested, sparking outrage in Georgia’s largest Korean-American community. Federal agents called it a criminal investigation, not an immigration raid, but the fallout is undeniable. Set in the Luna Del Mar Manufactured Home Oasis (aka “The Penicillin Capital of Central Florida”), the play follows radio hosts Vesta Poteet and Dixie Mandrell as they dish on everything from the Miss Manatee Contest to a “Jesus and Elvis” tribute. Oh, and those “Gone with the Wind” collector plates? Scarlett O’Hara looks suspiciously like Ernest Borgnine.
