May the God of Wonders Bless You!
This Advent season, I want to invite you on a journey to think about the gifts we can bring to Jesus, not just at Christmas, but with our whole lives? I hope these sermons can help us prepare our hearts as we reflect on how we can honor the King of Kings with the gifts we bring to Him. This first Sunday of Advent, we focus on Hope as a gift that is ours because of Jesus’ birth. But what gift can we give to Him in response? Because Hope is a gift of God available to us through Christ, we can give Jesus the gift of our trust. Isaiah 40 provides powerful reasons we can place our full trust in God.

Hope is something all people long to have. We wait for better days to come, for sorrow and pain to pass away, for new beginnings and second chances, for fresh opportunities. Isaiah 40 is written to the people of Israel, who after languishing in Babylonian exile, wondered if there was any hope that they would be restored to their land, for the temple to be rebuilt, and for their relationship with their God to be made new. As we begin Advent, we also wait. We lament the conditions of our world and we long for God to set things right. We pray and watch for signs of His presence. We need to hear Isaiah’s words and see the Christ who is their fulfilment.

Find Comfort in the Unique Nature of God!
Welcome to our Sunday morning worship service. Today Pastor Gary Barber is preaching on Isaiah 40, "The Might and Comfort of God." Our God is the "God of all comfort" Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 1:3, and today we are going to see Isaiah declare this truth in a glorious and comforting way. We are going to see in a new way the glory of God in contrast to the foolishness of idolatry. And after Isaiah declares "those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary" (Isaiah 40:28,31) we are going to get an opportunity for prayer and reflection...let's wait on the LORD. We are glad you have joined us today; may God bless, comfort, and encourage you as you worship with us. Be sure to download the sermon notes so you can follow along with Pastor Gary. Click "Download PDF" and they will open in a new window where you may print or save them.

Vacation is exciting. Packing for vacation…..not so exciting. Some pack light while others take everything. Maybe it would be good to have a plan, a packing list. If you are a parent, teacher, coach, or leader who works with kids, the day will come when they leave your home or your care. We have many concerns for kids in this hostile culture but what if we made our top concern what they take from us when they leave? Join us as we open God’s Word for a fresh look at what kids need most from the leaders God has positioned in their lives.
Matt Aroney considers Isaiah's word of comfort to exiles and how the hope of God's glory can enable believers to bear up under hardship.
