SZLACHETKA (pronounced SLA-HET-KA) draws your gaze back to a simpler time when mu-sic was less about stylized production and more about its experiential nature. His songwriting finds inspiration in the threads that connect us, weaving a tapestry of familiar moments that pay homage to the past while leaning into a future that promises both wonder and grace. Now based in Nashville, Rolling Stone hailed SZLACHETKA as one of the “10 New Artists You Need to Know”. He'll be performing songs from his sophomore album 'Heart of my Hometown'. JOSLYN & THE SWEET COMPRESSION deliver a hook-filled mix of funk and R&B-flavored pop. Based out of Lexington, Kentucky, the ensemble is lead by powerhouse vocalist Joslyn Hampton and features a dynamic mix of veterans and young talent to create their unique high energy grooves. Her debut set of original material will be released in a series of singles as opposed to on an album. WoodSongs Kids: The Wallace Sisters are from Lexington, Kentucky and love to sing.
With his new album Heart of My Hometown, hot off the presses and tearing up the charts… SZLACHETKA reveals why he left The Northstar Session after 10 years… why he elected to wait for almost 2 years before releasing his album - even though it was fully completed… why he moved completely across the country after college, and what he learned from this experience… The importance of patience… work ethic and whether or not it’s really necessary… where relationships fit in to the whole picture… and how he wound up working with one of the top producers in the record industry on his most recent record. Real upbeat conversation with an incredibly sincere and very talented guitarist, composer and singer. Matthew Szlachetka, guitarist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Originally from the state of Massachusets, Matthew is now Nashville based after being a long-time resident of Los Angeles. His roots rock and Americana style is familiar with audiences all around the U.S. through his various songwriting partnerships, and ultimately as a diligent touring solo artist. At home playing lead on electric guitar in his studio recordings, he is more likely to have an acoustic guitar in his hands with songs that fit neatly into the sensibilities of giants like Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan. And with his new full-length recording entitled “Heart of my Hometown” slated for release in 2017, it is no wonder, as the product is produced by Grammy Award winning producer and engineer, David Bianco, who's credits include all of the aforementioned, as well as Mick Jagger, Lucinda Williams, and many more of diverse styles. We feature excerpts from both 2017's forthcoming release, “Heart of my Hometown”, and 2014’s “Waits for a storm to Find” throughout our discussion.
