You're a night watchmen at the Smithsonian. You spend your time in between rounds by watching season 2 of Togetherness. You dread finishing each episode as you know you are moving closer to the end. It's about time to make your rounds again. Everything seems business as usual until you get to That Room. You hate going in there. Even though the entire building is lit with minimal lighting this late, it seems darker in here. Colder too. You do the cursive glance you always do, enough to make out any shapes that shouldn't belong but not too much that you have to actually focus on any particular object. But this time you do. You have to. Something is off. A case in the center of the room is lit in a peculiar way. There's a violet glow. You're not sure if it's actually there or if you're imagining it, but you wouldn't be doing your job if you didn't check it out. You make your way to the case and the contents within start to form out of the darkness. A harpoon tip. A whale oil lamp. An assortment of doubloons. And a pipe. A scrimshaw pipe. You have forgotten why you even came over to the cabinet but now you can't look away. Something about the etchings in the pipe is familiar. No, not something. Someone. Someone you've been watching on your laptop all night. Startled, you move your head away from the case, only to see the same face in the reflection of the glass. After a long hiatus, your heroes return to talk about all the things you love to hear us talk about, like the VitaCoco piss-in-a-bottle thing and the films of Stuart Gordon. We also rank 5 different root beers in a blind taste test. What is this show about? It's good to be back.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled podcast feed to bring you something new. Join hosts Andrew, PJ, and Aaron as they wade through video games forgotten to time to see if they deserve to be remembered. Welcome to The Bargain Bin: A Bad Videogame Podcast. Thank you to @RoccoW for the theme music.
You're in a theatre. Looking in your hands you find a bucket of popcorn you don't remember paying for. No one around you seems to be missing their movie-going concessions. The trailers start and you see a woman. Her cell begins to ring. Face white, she frantically searches for the source. Before she can silence its tone, she's gutted by the psychopath you paid admission to see. Did you turn your cell phone off? Realizing your hands are full of ill-gotten snacks, you come to a haunting conclusion: You must eat all of this popcorn before death come ringing for you. \ Things Discussed: The Haunting of Hill House: https://www.netflix.com/title/80189221 | Halloween (1979): https://imdb.to/2ABKxQa | Halloween (2018): https://imdb.to/2yEu6Rb \ Required Reading: Aaron: The Descent (2005): https://imdb.to/2PyGNHv | Andrew: Train to Busan (2016): https://imdb.to/2Sxj7SD \ Email us your questions, concerns, suggestions at acrossthelakeshow (at) gmail (dot) com.
