De Adviesraad Internationale Vraagstukken (AIV) heeft het kabinet een stevige opdracht meegegeven. Zorg voor een langetermijnstrategie voor voedselzekerheid. Nederland moet hier zelfs het voortouw nemen omdat het op dit terrein wereldwijd economisch en logistiek tot de toonaangevende landen behoort. Het briefadvies ‘Voedselzekerheid in een wankele wereld: een agenda voor Nederland’ schetst zo’n agenda. Niet alleen voor bewindslieden die zich met landbouw, handelsrelaties en ontwikkelingssamenwerking bezig houden, maar ook voor bedrijven, organisaties en kenniscentra die vanuit ons land wereldwijd vaak een prominente rol spelen. En het is ook een vraagstuk van economische veiligheid en weerbaarheid. Jaap Jansen en PG Kroeger praten hierover met de schrijver van het advies, Jorrit Oppewal (AIV), en Daan Wensing, ceo van Initiatief Duurzame Handel, waarin bedrijven en organisaties die bezig zijn met agrogrondstoffen en voedselketens hun krachten bundelen. *** Deze aflevering is mede mogelijk gemaakt met donaties van luisteraars die we hiervoor hartelijk danken. Daarom moet Nederland strategische samenwerkingsrelaties ontwikkelen. En dit houdt veel meer in dan 'klantrelaties' bij agrarische producten. Namelijk kennisdeling, netwerkopbouw, intensivering van contacten – ook diplomatiek - en nadrukkelijke wederkerigheid. Een langdurig perspectief van samenwerking met landen en regio’s in het Mondiale Zuiden (Afrika, Azië en Latijns-Amerika). De Verenigde Naties willen honger uitbannen, maar het aantal mensen met honger is de afgelopen jaren juist toegenomen. Daan Wensing schetst hoe de IDH-partners vanaf de Covid-pandemie in hun handelsketens tal van disrupties ondergingen. "Tot nu toe ging het nét niet mis.” Alle betrokkenen beseffen dat de afhankelijkheden groot, complex en riskant zijn. Ook bij agrogrondstoffen. De Iran-oorlog met de blokkade van de Straat van Hormuz bleek meteen de grondstoffenketen rond kunstmest lam te leggen. “Rampzalig voor Afrika en Azië en dus meteen ook voor ons." Ook voor grondstoffen als soja en palmolie, die voor allerlei producten nodig zijn, geldt die kwetsbaarheid. En het gaat om veel meer dan alleen de bekende producten uit de supermarkt. Omdat de VS en China hun eigen gang gaan en de multilaterale organisaties in het slop zitten, moet Nederland coalities sluiten met andere ‘middenmachten’. IDH bouwt aan het soort strategische partnerschappen waar de AIV over schrijft. "Zuid-Afrika is – via ons land - voor tropische groenten en fruit een groot leverancier aan Europa. Wij hebben daar een coalitie gevormd met bedrijven die met de kennis en netwerken bij ons grote stappen kunnen zetten. Daarmee zetten wij ook een soort 'soft power' in, waarmee intensieve relaties verder verdiept worden." De klassieke werkwijze van de ‘polder' krijgt in zulke samenwerkingspatronen een eigen, nieuwe variant. De term daarvoor is 'the Dutch Diamond'. "Belangrijk is dat we zo daarin samenwerken, dat het niet de indruk wekt, dat wij heel arrogant wel even komen vertellen hoe het moet", zegt Jorrit Oppewal. In het eigen actieplan van IDH, 'Agrohandel, zeker, veerkrachtig en duurzaam’ komt de alertheid ook naar voren. Daan Wensing: "We moeten beseffen dat we in een andere wereldorde leven waarin we met het Mondiale Zuiden gelijkwaardige partnerschappen vormen. Voor die partners is toegang tot de Europese Unie essentieel. Vaak voelen zij nog: "Wij staan achter in de rij.” Geopolitiek beschouwen zij de EU als net zo'n 'supermacht' als China of Amerika. Voor voedselzekerheid is Nederland voor hen vaak het gezicht van de EU. Ook dat gegeven maakt het voor de Nederlandse economie, bedrijven en kennisorganisaties cruciaal, het beleid Europees af te stemmen en hoog op de agenda te zetten. Grote langetermijn EU-programma's voor investeringen en connecties, zoals de Global Gateway – het Europese antwoord op het Chinese Belt & Road Initiative - krijgen in ons land opmerkelijk weinig aandacht. Voor de ketens en partnerschappen op dit terrein vormen ze een grote kans, mits we dat wereldwijd samen aanpakken. In de tweede helft van 2029 is Nederland EU-voorzitter. IDH pleit ervoor dat het nu vast begint met de voorbereiding van een speciale topconferentie over voedselzekerheid van de EU met die strategische partners. De Tweede Kamer ziet veel in het idee: deze week bleek brede steun voor een motie erover. Het is de ene toestand waarin alles wat God geschapen heeft deelt. Net als al Zijn Gedachten, kent het geen tegendeel. Er is geen dood, omdat wat God geschapen heeft Zijn leven deelt. Er is geen dood, omdat een tegendeel van God niet bestaat. Er is geen dood, want de Vader en de Zoon zijn één.In deze wereld lijkt er een toestand te zijn die het tegendeel is van leven. Jij noemt die de dood. Niettemin hebben we geleerd dat het idee van de dood vele vormen aan kan nemen. Het is het ene idee dat ten grondslag ligt aan alle gevoelens die niet opperst geluk zijn. Het is het alarmsignaal waarop je reageert in enige vorm die geen volmaakte vreugde is. Alle smart, verlies, benauwenis, alle lijden en pijn, zelfs een klein zuchtje van vermoeidheid, een licht ongemak of de geringste frons, erkent de dood. En ontkent zo dat jij leeft.Jij denkt dat de dood iets van het lichaam is. Toch is het slechts een idee, niet van toepassing op wat als fysiek wordt gezien. Een gedachte bevindt zich in de denkgeest. Ze kan vervolgens worden toegepast zoals de denkgeest dat beveelt. Maar ze moet bij haar oorsprong worden veranderd, wil verandering plaatsvinden. Ideeën verlaten niet hun bron. De nadruk die deze cursus op dat idee heeft gelegd, is het gevolg van de centrale plaats die het inneemt bij onze pogingen jou je denken over jezelf te laten veranderen. Het is de reden dat je kunt genezen. Het is de oorzaak van genezing. Het is de reden waarom jij niet kunt sterven. De waarheid daarvan is de grondslag van jouw eenheid met God.De dood is de gedachte dat je gescheiden bent van je Schepper. Het is het geloof dat omstandigheden veranderen en emoties wisselen als gevolg van oorzaken die jij niet beheersen kunt, die je niet gemaakt hebt en nooit kunt veranderen. Het is de vaste overtuiging dat ideeën hun bron kunnen verlaten en eigenschappen kunnen aannemen die de bron niet bevat, waardoor ze van hun eigen oorsprong gaan verschillen, daarvan afgezonderd zowel naar aard als naar afstand, tijd en vorm.De dood kan niet uit het leven voortkomen. Ideeën blijven verenigd met hun bron. Ze kunnen alles uitbreiden wat hun bron bevat. Daarin kunnen ze zichzelf verre te boven gaan. Maar ze kunnen niet het leven schenken aan wat hun nooit gegeven werd. Zoals zij gemaakt zijn, zo zal hun maaksel zijn. Zoals zij geboren werden, zo zullen zij op hun beurt geboren doen worden. En waarvandaan zij komen, daarheen zullen ze terugkeren.De denkgeest kan denken dat hij slaapt, maar dat is alles. Hij kan niet veranderen wat zijn waaktoestand is. Hij kan geen lichaam maken, noch in een lichaam wonen. Wat aan de denkgeest vreemd is bestaat niet, het heeft immers geen bron. Want de denkgeest schept alles wat er is en kan daaraan geen eigenschappen geven die hij zelf niet bezit, noch zijn eigen eeuwige denkstaat veranderen. Hij kan het fysieke niet maken. Wat lijkt te sterven is slechts het teken van de denkgeest in slaap.Het tegendeel van leven kan alleen een andere vorm van leven zijn. Als zodanig laat het zich verzoenen met wat het geschapen heeft, omdat het in waarheid geen tegendelen zijn. De vorm ervan kan veranderen, het kan lijken wat het niet is. Maar denkgeest is denkgeest, wakend of in slaap. Hij is niet zijn tegendeel in iets wat geschapen is, noch in wat hij schijnt te maken, wanneer hij meent te slapen.God schept alleen de wakende denkgeest. Hij slaapt niet en Zijn scheppingen kunnen niet delen wat Hij niet geeft, noch omstandigheden maken die Hij niet met hen deelt. De gedachte van de dood is niet het tegendeel van gedachten van leven. Voor eeuwig zonder tegenkanting van tegendelen in welke vorm ook, blijven de Gedachten van God voor eeuwig onveranderlijk, met het vermogen zich voor eeuwig onveranderlijk uit te breiden, maar toch binnen zichzelf, want ze zijn overal.Wat het tegendeel van leven schijnt, is alleen in slaap. Wanneer de denkgeest besluit te zijn wat hij niet is, en verkiest een vreemde macht aan te nemen die hij niet heeft, een oneigen toestand waartoe hij niet komen kan, of een kunstmatige gesteldheid die binnen zijn Bron niet bestaat, lijkt hij slechts een poosje te gaan slapen. Hij droomt van de tijd: een interval waarin wat schijnt te gebeuren nooit heeft plaatsgevonden, de teweeggebrachte veranderingen geen substantie hebben en alle gebeurtenissen nergens zijn. Wanneer de denkgeest ontwaakt, gaat hij slechts voort zoals hij altijd is geweest.Laten we vandaag kinderen van de waarheid zijn en ons heilig erfgoed niet ontkennen. Ons leven is niet zoals wij het ons inbeelden. Wie verandert het leven omdat hij zijn ogen sluit, of maakt zichzelf tot iets wat hij niet is omdat hij slaapt en in dromen het tegendeel ziet van wat hij is? We vragen vandaag niet om de dood, in welke vorm ook. En evenmin zullen we ingebeelde tegendelen van leven zelfs maar een moment laten verblijven waar de Gedachte van eeuwig leven door God Zelf is geplaatst.Zijn heilig huis trachten we vandaag te bewaren zoals Hij het gegrondvest heeft en wil dat het voor eeuwig en altijd zal zijn. Hij is Heer over wat wij denken vandaag. En in Zijn Gedachten, die geen tegendeel hebben, begrijpen we dat er één leven is, en dat delen we met Hem, met heel de schepping, met al haar gedachten ook, die Hij geschapen heeft in een eenheid van leven, welke niet verbroken kan worden in de dood, noch de Bron van leven kan verlaten vanwaar het kwam.We delen één leven met elkaar, omdat we één Bron hebben, een Bron vanwaaruit volmaaktheid tot ons komt en altijd in elke heilige denkgeest verblijft die Hij volmaakt geschapen heeft. Zoals we waren, zo zijn wij nu en zullen we voor eeuwig zijn. Een slapende denkgeest moet wel ontwaken als hij ziet dat zijn eigen volmaaktheid de Heer van het Leven zo volmaakt weerspiegelt dat hij opgaat in wat daar weerspiegeld wordt. En nu is hij niet langer een weerspiegeling zonder meer. Hij wordt het weerspiegelde, en het licht dat weerspiegeling mogelijk maakt. Nu is geen visie nodig. Eigenlijk kennen we nu hoofdzakelijk nog fusiepartijen - denk aan VVD, CDA, ChristenUnie en nu PRO - en afsplitsers - bijvoorbeeld PVV, DENK, JA21 en DNA. Wat betekent dit voor de actuele verhoudingen rond het minderheidskabinet-Jetten en voor het politieke landschap, ook in Brussel? Jaap Jansen en PG Kroeger verkennen dit met winnaar van de Anne Vondelingprijs 2025, Coen van de Ven (De Groene Amsterdammer), die eerder al een boek publiceerde over de fusie van GroenLinks en PvdA. *** Deze aflevering is mede mogelijk gemaakt met donaties van luisteraars die we hiervoor hartelijk danken. Het valt op dat bij de start het begrip 'links' nadrukkelijk vermeden werd. Partijleider Jesse Klaver benadrukt ook steeds dat PRO een brede partij, zelfs een 'massapartij' wil zijn. Tegen de tijdgeest in een echte 'catch all party'. Minstens zo opvallend is dat de luidruchtige nostalgische critici uit de PvdA wel veel zendtijd kregen in talkshows, maar geen breed en overtuigend geluid bleken te vertolken. De groep is zelfs al uiteengevallen, zoals bleek uit het optreden van FNV-voorzitter Hans Spekman op het congres en de nadrukkelijke aanwezigheid van oud PvdA-leider Ad Melkert. Karakteristiek sociaaldemocratische thema's als woningnood, bestaanszekerheid en 'eerlijk delen' domineerden de speeches. Over zulke concrete thema’s wil PRO met de minderheidscoalitie van Jetten tot ‘afspraken voor eerlijk beleid’ komen, gesteund door de vakbeweging. De nieuwe partij heeft daarmee direct invloed op het beleid. Met de nadruk op 'progressief' wordt impliciet gezegd dat een partij als D66 die term niet echt meer kan claimen. Met dat scherpere onderscheid markeert PRO tegelijk de andere koers die Jetten in de recente campagne ging varen. Ooit was juist D66 de pleitbezorger van een 'Progressieve Volkspartij' en was het de PvdA die Hans van Mierlo een blauwtje liet lopen. Die kaarten zijn nu dus anders geschud. PRO zegt ten diepste: er is nu een progressieve volkspartij, maar zonder D66. Ook naar CDA en VVD is de eis van ‘eerlijke afspraken’ een interessante beweging. PRO presenteert zich als een constructieve, zelfbewuste partner. Een beetje Rijnlands zelfs. Dat deze nieuwe partij een geradicaliseerde linkse club is, kan de VVD in dat licht moeilijk volhouden, zeker niet als VVD-vicepremier Dilan Yesilgöz zelf ineens ‘een uitgestoken hand’ wil presenteren. De fusie is een feit. Maar één blikje hebben GroenLinks en PvdA gedurende het fusieproces keer op keer voor zich uitgeschopt. Bij welke Europese politieke familie wil PRO aansluiten? Dat is een veel bepalender kwestie dan wellicht eerder gedacht was. In Brussel hebben Groenen noch sociaaldemocraten zin in een tot de Europese parlementsverkiezingen van 2029 durende vage positionering. Ondanks tegenstand – voornamelijk uit GroenLinks-hoek – besloten de PRO-leden om al in september bij referendum de knoop door te hakken. Kiest PRO voor de grote sociaaldemocratische machtsmachine of toch voor de Groenen? Voor de nieuwe partij wordt die stemming de eerste lakmoesproef. De tweede dag Lauwersmeer staat in het teken van hard werken voor je waarnemingen. We gaan namelijk een geheel rondje Lauwersmeer fietsen en dat is maar liefst 50km. Maar de sfeer zat er direct goed in, want we waren nog geen 20 minuten onderweg of we werden getrakteerd op het prachtige geluid van de wielewaal. En dan is het zoeken geblazen, want ook al is de vogel knal geel met zwart hij blijft verdomde lastig. Een typisch gevalletje; je hoort hem wel, maar zit hem niet. Maar er staan nog meer knallers op het dagprogramma. Zo moet Gip de Blauwborst nog en de mooiste vogel van Nederland: het baardmannetje. Kortom er is genoeg te beleven met als kers op de taart een vogel die menig deelnemer nog niet op zijn of haar lijst had. Arjan is overigens weer zo fanatiek dat hij zelfs de groep geen koffiebreak gunt, maar gelukkig steekt mooi-weer-vogelaar Gisbert daar een stokje voor. Het moet leuk blijven. The records coming out didn't sound like the club. They were made by professionals who didn't go to the club. So at 18, while a freshman at NYU, he made one himself — "It's Yours" with T La Rock. It sold 100,000 copies in 18 months. He put his dorm room address on the sleeve. This launched Def Jam Recordings. LL Cool J's first record came next. The Beastie Boys after that. His credit on those records didn't say "produced by." It said "reduced by" — a theological statement as much as a job title. His method has never changed: strip everything down until what remains has no place to hide, then protect whatever magic appears. He's applied it to Jay-Z, Johnny Cash, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Eminem, The Strokes, Metallica, Kanye West, Tom Petty, and many other top artists.  He describes himself as a lazy workaholic.
