In this age of random social media likes and follows by complete strangers what extreme lengths would you go to become famous ? Writer and Director Tyler MacIntyre has an answer, but you're not going to live to enjoy it. Welcome back to Film Haven Reviews!!! This week we are continuing our "Slasher Satire" theme with the very well made Tragedy Girls (2017)This film felt much more natural than last week's episode on The Final Girls (2015). There was geniunely funny moments and the humor felt baked in. The commentary also felt more substantive and the acting was also really well done. I gave this film a 7.5/10 for actually being able to pull off a solid horror/comedy and deserving to be called a decent slasher satire which are hard to come by! For my full written review feel free to follow my instagram: https://www.instagram.com/film_haven_reviews/

They capture a killer who they hope will train them to become killers themselves. To create content for their page they begin killing people they view as obstacles or just piss them off.

Happy holidays from all of us here at SYG! The winter solstice is upon and it's one of the darkest times of the year. So as you're enjoying the lights on your Christmas tree and lighting your Christmas candles, just remember that though the holidays are a time for joy and cheer, it has a much darker history than that. This, our annual Christmas special, will be our final episode for the holidays but we'll be back in a few weeks with more discussions with some of the luminaries of darkness. Everyone has their favorite Christmas movie classics but perhaps the gold standard is Frank Capra's “It's a Wonderful Life”. Featuring Jimmy Stewart learning that every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings, it was only a matter of time before some master of the macabre took a stab at the setup for a horror film. And boy are we lucky that that particular filmmaker happened to by our guest today, Tyler MacIntyre with his new film “It's a Wonderful Knife”. If you don't love the title already you deserve to be boiled in your own Christmas pudding. With a genre cast to die for, a razor-sharp script by Michael Kennedy (who wrote the genre hit “Freaky”) and a Christmas killer sure to join the ranks of the great Christmas slashers, “It's a Wonderful Knife” has all the ingredients to become a Christmas horror fans tradition. Tyler and I sat down to discuss the importance of inclusivity in modern horror, some tips of the trade for pursuing a career in filmmaking that are sure to be of great help for our aspiring filmmaker listeners, what he took from Hallmark when creating his own Christmas tale and how the film nods to “It's a Wonderful Life” in some very sly ways. We also discuss the creation of Justin Long's insane and wonderfully bizarre villain. “It's a Wonderful Knife” is available on Shudder, AMC+ and anywhere you rent your movies. Okay, let's sharpen our candy canes and get our wings with Tyler MacIntyre! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Then, MacIntyre joins The Matts for a discussion about Adam Wingard's A Horrible Way To Die, an influential mumblegore release that also doubles as a "killer" showcase for actor-filmmakers Joe Swanberg and Amy Seimetz.

But how much does a slasher have in common with an assassin? Why do Vanessa and Elijah always pretend that the titles of the movies are a surprise? And which animals could Elijah confidently Judo throw? Find out, in this week's double-feature discussion! The Savor Theater in Fort Lauderdale had a free showing of Tragedy Girls on Friday night, which I saw as a perfect way to explore a city that is still very new to me. The podcast started as a rewatch of a film that was one of the first ones I reviewed on this podcast. It's one of the reasons I love watching independent horror films, to find those gems that really stick with you. Tragedy Girls is my go to recommendation for horror fans, and also something I thought was worthy of getting a tattoo in honor of. Like life, this podcast took some twists and turns. Just going out into the world can be a dangerous thing with many perils on the journey. Your friend and humble narrator found himself in danger, and the episode became more of an exploration of an evening filled with red flags. I hope you enjoy. I hope I'm coherent.

Zach and Charlie join Caitlin to cover Tragedy Girls, a horror comedy from 2017. It's got fun cameos, campy kills, and horror homages galore! We had a great time talking about it. We also got into prom talk and conspiracy corner. We needed a good laugh coming off of the awful news about Roe v Wade being overturned. Please consider donating to your local abortion fund. Keep fighting, and take care of yourselves.
In this episode of Crossing the Stream, we are looking at the 2017 Horror Comedy Tragedy Girls. We discuss the films premise and how it doesn't quite deliver what the trailers promised. We get into the films many subplots and how a lot of them go unresolved. What is the film's ultimate message and how does it get it across? We talk about the characters and how great all the actors are in the roles. Does the film cop out when it comes to the relationship between the two leads? And of course we talk about the fun kills the film has to offer. All this and more in another fun filled episode. Cameron Van Hoy is a veteran in the entertainment industry. After a stint acting, he wrote and produced films such as Treasure of the Black Jaguar, Tooken, and Sharkproof. He really came into his own producing the hit horror comedy Tragedy Girls, which hit theaters around the world and has gone on to become a cult classic. His debut directorial feature, Flinch, was released early this year to great acclaim and theatrical distribution before finding a digital home with the tech giants of Amazon, Apple, and Google. The film continues to accumulate a loyal following and Van Hoy has an affinity for gritty stories documenting love, family and crime in an epic and timeless way.Cameron created the indie film called Flinch that was are released and franchised via NFTs. It's a controversial method, but we are aiming to be trailblazers of the industry and help mitigate the controversy surrounding NFTs by releasing it with a solid foundation. It stars Daniel Zovatto, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Cathy Moriarty, Tom Segura, Buddy Duress, David Proval, Steven Bauer, Michael Drayer and more. It is a crime thriller that tells the story of a young hitman who lives with his mother and a girl who witnesses them commit a murder. The backbone of any film growing a supporting audience is the community behind it. NFTs survive and thrive off of their communities. We are creating 9,999 original art pieces that are representative of characters in the universe. Community members will have the opportunity to purchase these for a set amount each. The funds from these NFTs will go into making the sequel to Flinch. Upon selling all of the NFTs, the film immediately goes into preproduction. A dedicated audience of nearly 10,000 have an interest in ensuring the film succeeds. Those who hold these NFTs can be verified and are rewarded for doing so. After parties with the cast and crew, special Q&As with the director, early access to the script, visits to set during shooting, and red carpet premiers. They gain exclusivity. Additionally, as a reward, 50% of the income generated from the movie will go into a shared community wallet. The NFT holders can vote on how to use these funds. They can use it to market and promote the film, create additional IP (comic books, TV shows, etc.), or whatever else they want to do with it! It gives holders “skin in the game” of the art and movies they love.

Felicia's pick for our pure fun theme for April was Tragedy Girls! This lived up to the hype and was a super cute and hilarious movie that gave us Jennifer's body/Tucker & Dale vs Evil/Heathers/Otis (but if it pulled off the tone it was going for) vibes. This movie truly felt like a love letter to horror movies! This week we're talking Tragedy Girls. It's a contemporary 80's slasher that's also a whole lot of fun. What else could you ask for?

The slashing continues with a film that asks, “What if there was a slasher movie, but the slashers were… girls…” Tragedy Girls is exactly that, and doesn't even contain the cringy Diablo Codyesque dialogue you might expect of a dark teen film like this. Is it dark satire? Well, that depends on your definition I suppose.
We start our journey through horror movies with a pair of films from Netflix and Hulu, respectively. The horror movie from Netflix's catalogue is Deadcon, the influencer convention movie. And over on Hulu we have Tragedy Girls which also has a twist on influencer culture. Both films are streaming over here in the U.S. on their respective platforms.
