Dear Girl Mom, Welcome to our third season of Dear Girl Mom! We are excited to be ramping up again after our summer break! We are also eager to be back in touch with our Girl (and boy!) Mom community! Although our summer break has been rich and filled with many fond memories, Nicole and I are very mindful of how difficult and broken our world is. Life can quite simply be just plain hard. As we each struggle with our own areas of challenges and brokenness, we find the need to continually point each other back to Jesus, our true hope and anchor of the soul (Hebrews 6:19).  As you wrestle with areas of hurt, doubt, and/or anxiety, there is no doubt that a gentle reminder over how Jesus walks with us, talks with us, and is always there for us could be just the fresh breath of air you need at this very moment. Allow us to spend some time together encouraging you as we each seek to fix our eyes on Jesus and allow Him to be the balm over all areas of our great need.   We are so excited you are here with us today. Does this question get your daughter excited to dream about all the opportunities before her? Or, does her body tense as anxiety grows and a deer in headlights expression appears across her face? Although we certainly don't have all the answers, we do know that we are all on this journey together and we need one another! Dear Girl Mom, From the time our girls were little, we encouraged them to always tell the truth. But many things they are told by our culture today are so far from the Truth!  What do we want our girls to know is true compared to what the world tells them is true?  On one hand this is a weighty topic. But on the other hand, the answers are so simple. God's Truth is unfailing and unchanging. It never waivers or fails. Join us today as we discuss certain UN-truths being sold to our daughters by culture, and how we as moms can help them see the Truth.  We're so glad you're here. Simply put, heritage, by definition, means an inheritance or that which is passed down from previous generations. When looking at our spiritual heritage, we are considering the faith that we are passing down through the generations through the relationships we share with our daughters. How are you building a faith in God into your relationship with your daughter? Is it a challenge? Is it a struggle? Are there endearing moments that come to mind when reflecting on how a spiritual heritage is being fostered? If you are anything like us, then it is all of the above, and more! In our episode today, we are going to share the highs and lows, joys and sorrows, that have come within our own journeys of building a spiritual heritage and faith into our daughters. Dear Girl Mom, I don't know about you, but when I first wake up in the morning, I am a woman of limited vocabulary. Let's just say that it is best not to talk with me until I get a cup of steaming, hot coffee. And don't you dare turn on any bright lights! Just know, if you say “Good Morning” to me, you may receive a groan in response. I may be a morning person, but, I am not a talkative morning person! All in all, as the Psalms share, we are each fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:13-14), and we bring unique personalities and character traits into our homes. Likewise, we may manage communication with one another effectively at times, and, well, quite honestly, rather non-effectively at others! Have you often wondered how to best communicate with your daughter? Your toddler? Your tween? Or your adolescent? Dear Girl Mom, It often seems that life is continuously revealing the need for letting go. From the very first moment we lay eyes on our beautiful, tender, squealing infant daughters we are spurred to encourage them in their growth and development. With each & every milestone comes a degree of having to let go. From releasing those tender moments of rocking them in our arms to go to sleep at night to literally letting go of their hands & allowing them to take their first steps, we are practicing the art of letting go. We hold them as they push the pedals forward to find balance and speed learning to ride their bikes, and then we let go with hearts full of joy as they balance and pedal their bikes completely on their own. Before we know it, we are teaching them driving skills, only to let go and allow them to one day drive off all on their own. We blink, and we are then releasing them into the great big world. All of it can leave moms filled with an array of vast emotion. In today's episode, we hope our discussion will bring love, hope, and support in all the necessary places as we strive to let go well through whatever season of motherhood we find ourselves in. May we each find blessing in and through the journey. Love, Stacy & Nicole PS: In this episode, Stacy references 1 Samuel 5:17. However, this is a misquote, as there actually is not a verse 17 in chapter five of 1 Samuel. Oops! Instead, please know that she meant to reference 1 Samuel 7:12.
