This is the Quick Pack Recap. I'm your host this week, Alin Beane. Both Nevada basketball teams recently went out losing to end their seasons at the Mountain West Conference Tournaments. The men's team defeated Fresno State in the first round 86 to 71, but fell to the eventual champions, the Colorado State Rams, in round two by a score of 67 to 59. The women's team didn't fare much better, ending its season with a first-round loss to Boise State, 54-48. The men's team ended their season with an overall record of 17-16, going 8-12 in conference. The women's team finished at 11-21 overall, with a mark of 6-12 in Mountain West play. In other news, Nevada baseball's up-and-down start to its season continues. After starting the season 10 and 6, the Wolf Pack lost its first conference series against Fresno State before picking up a non-conference win at Santa Clara on March 17th. Nevada lost game one of the March 15th doubleheader against the Bulldogs 15-12, but rebounded to take game two by six runs. The series ended on a 13 to nothing run rule loss in seven innings. The team bounced back against Santa Clara, picking up a 13 to 4 win on the road. Thanks for listening to this week's Quick Pack Recap. Check back in next Tuesday for our next recap.

One of the most crucial aspects of writing is understanding your audience so that the stories you tell truly resonate. In today's episode of Fully Booked, we explore this concept with author and speaker Randi-Lee Bowslaugh, who connects with her readers by sharing her personal experiences with mental health and autism. By blending storytelling with an engaging, accessible style, Randi ensures her books reach the people who need them most, offering a sense of companionship to those facing similar struggles. For Randi, authenticity is key—her conversational approach fosters a deeper connection with readers than a more formal, textbook-style format would. She also incorporates practical elements, such as worksheets, to blend emotional resonance with actionable support. Beyond writing, she shares insights into marketing strategies that emphasize personal connections, including the power of podcasts and word of mouth to reach the right audience. Whether you're crafting memoir, self-help, or even fiction, this episode explores how writing with purpose, honesty, and a clear understanding of your audience can leave a lasting impact.   Randi-Lee Bowslaugh https://www.rbwriting.ca/   Hidden Gems Need our help publishing or marketing your book? https://www.hiddengemsbooks.com/author-services/ All episode details and links: https://www.hiddengemsbooks.com/podcast

Based in Indianapolis, the Schahet family has been managing and developing hotels since the 1960s. The family firm Schahet Hotels currently has nine properties in its portfolio, mostly in central Indiana, with a 10th hotel under construction in Muncie and an 11th in the final planning stages. There's still room in the lodging industry for mom-and-pop hoteliers—although in this case it was father and son—who can amass significant holdings in particular niches and geographic areas. Family operators like the Schahets are an integral part of the Indy area's hospitality fabric.   It is NOT an industry for the meek. Ask Greg Schahet, a third-generation Schahet hotelier who joined the family firm a few months before 9/11 and has since helped the company navigate the Great Recession, the pandemic and the current economic crunch from inflation and interest rates. As president and chief financial officer, he's guiding development of the downtown Muncie project called The Cantio, a $43.5 million boutique-style hotel that represents a departure for the firm.   In this week's edition of the podcast, Greg Schahet shares financial war stories from moments in the last three decades when it seemed like the industry had turned upside-down. He also talks strategy, including explaining why Schahet has such a high concentration of hotels near Indianapolis International Airport and why it went outside its comfort zone with the high-profile Cantio.

In this BOOK REVIEW episode of The Impact Farming Show, Tracy dives into Spencer Johnson's thought-provoking parable, Peaks and Valleys: Making Good and Bad Times Work for You—At Work and in Life.  Tracy unpacks the timeless wisdom in this powerful book that teaches us how to stay calm, find success, and maintain peace, even in the most challenging times. This book is especially relevant to the farming community because of its exploration of life's cyclical and unpredictable nature—much like agriculture itself. Farming is a business where you can pour your heart/blood/sweat/tears into your year, invest your best efforts, and yet, external factors like weather, market conditions, policy, and other uncontrollable variables can completely disrupt the outcome.  Peaks and Valleys offers valuable lessons on how to manage these unpredictable highs and lows, and turn even the most challenging moments into opportunities for growth and success. About The Book In Peaks and Valleys, a young man struggles through the lows of life in a “valley” until he meets a wise old man living on a mountain peak. Through their conversations, the young man learns how to apply the old man's principles to transform his life and work, no matter what the circumstances may be. It's a brilliant reminder that success and happiness are not defined by the peaks or valleys themselves, but by how we approach them. Key Takeaways: The metaphor of "peaks" and "valleys" to describe life's high and low points. How to stay calm, focused, and successful during tough times. Practical tools to shift your mindset from struggling in a "valley" to thriving on a "peak." The power of perspective and the importance of applying principles to everyday challenges. Why Spencer Johnson's timeless wisdom remains incredibly relevant, especially during uncertain times. If you're going through a tough time on the farm, at work, or in your personal life, remember that there are professionals available in all areas to offer support.  Additionally, Peaks and Valleys is an excellent and quick read that could serve as a balm to your troubled mind, offering valuable insights on navigating both the highs and lows with greater calm and clarity. Ever put a ton of effort into something and felt great about the result, only to see it's made a bit of a mess along the way? This really got me thinking about how much life is like that, too. Each day is kind of like keeping a wood stove going. We enjoy the lovely warmth of our achievements, but then there's the inevitable cleanup of the mess that comes with it. And you know what? It's pretty amazing to think of God as our partner in all of this—helping us manage both the warmth and the mess. In today's episode I highlight three things: ✨ Embracing the Process: Life's ups and downs are essential, much like maintaining a wood stove. We'll explore how embracing this reality brings peace and purpose. ✨ Trusting God's Presence: Through all challenges, God is ALWAYS with you. We'll discuss how trusting Him can transform your approach to life's situations. ✨ Partnering with God for Growth: Actively engaging with God brings His much greater purposes to pass in your life. We'll look at ways to integrate His influence into every aspect of your journey. As always,
