The common problem I solve is twofold:1. Only 5% of companies have a leader development strategy, because most companies don't have this competency on staff.2. 60% of first-time leaders failI have a phrase that sums up why 60% of first-time leaders fail. I call it:“Get rid of your best people and wreck your culture, in 3 easy steps”The 3 steps of first-time leader failure, often goes like this:1. A top individual contributor is selected and promoted to leader, without any assessment2. The first-time leader is not trained or receives improper training3. Without the necessary assessment and training, often the first-time leader will fail and choose to leave their organization, rather than face the career long embarrassment of returning to their pre-promotion role. Are you prepared to lead people? Perspective is not what you look at it's what you see. It's your point of view of the world. Everyone sees things differently. Five people could watch an event and each might have a different recollection, based on their perspective. We are all born with varying perspectives and our perspectives continue to be developed by our surroundings.Join me November 15, 2022, when I introduce my new First-Time Leader Development Program during a 33-minute webinar. I'm sure you've heard the phrase, “know, like and trust”, often referred to as the natural progression for healthy relationships. There is a word missing from this phrase. The word is Distrust. All relationships begin with distrust, which is our survival instinct, that has been honed over centuries. Until recently, Distrust is rarely mentioned, because over those centuries, we have learned to quickly determine whether our life is in danger and we quickly move to the Know portion of the phrase, “know, like and trust”.If you find my insight valuable, please share this podcast with others.Click here to find out if you have what it takes to lead peopleIf you have what it takes to lead people, click here to schedule your first of two learning sessionsClick here to enroll in the next Communication and Emotional Intelligence Course.Click here to send me a voice message from your browserClick here to schedule your free, no obligation, get to know each other conversationClick here to join to join the First-Time Leaders Accelerated℠ LinkedIn GroupTreat people like they make a difference and they will.Take care.Support the show
Today our conversation will be about a concept I pioneered, called The Leader's Ultimate KPIs. KPI is a business acronym that's been around for decades. KPIstands for Key Performance Indicator. These indicators are about numbers. Numbers used to measure performance and make decisions. So, what do you think I mean by The Leader's Ultimate KPIs? I'll give you a hint, the Leader's Ultimate KPIs have nothing to do with numbers and everything to do with feelings. Three specific feelings, Appreciation, Inspiration and Fulfillment. If you find my insight valuable, please share this podcast with others.Click here to find out if you have what it takes to lead peopleIf you have what it takes to lead people, click here to schedule your first of two learning sessionsClick here to enroll in the next Communication and Emotional Intelligence Course.Click here to send me a voice message from your browserClick here to schedule your free, no obligation, get to know each other conversationClick here to join to join the First-Time Leaders Accelerated℠ LinkedIn GroupTreat people like they make a difference and they will.Take care.Support the show
