Welcome back to the Autism Little Learners Podcast! Today we're talking about a message that I'm deeply passionate about: there are no prerequisites to robust AAC. For far too long, people have believed that children need to prove they're “ready” before being given a robust AAC device. But that simply isn't true. AAC and autism go hand in hand, and every child deserves access to communication—whether they are speaking, nonspeaking, or minimally speaking. In this episode, I'll bust some common ©uld never be treated as a last resort—it's a lifeline for connection, autonomy, and confidence. ✅ 8 Takeaways: Robust AAC is for everyone—there are no prerequisites for access. AAC and autism are not separate; AAC gives autistic children a reliable voice. Waiting for readiness only delays communication and increases frustration. Robust AAC devices support language development, not just basic needs. Modeling AAC is key—input comes before output, just like with spoken language. Providing robust AAC does not stop speech; in fact, it can encourage it. Starting with full systems (instead of limited boards) builds long-term success. Giving access to robust AAC from the start respects children's autonomy and presumes competence.
This week's Q&A focused on one of the trickiest moments in dressage training - late or inconsistent flying changes - and how to fix them. We also shared insights from our recent interview with Olympian Sabine Schut-Kery, talked about the importance of solid basics, and gave a sneak peek into the new YouTube series featuring Amelia's new horse, Mik.What we coveredFixing late changes: Straightness and haunches-in before the change help the hind legs come through on time. Keep the canter short, quick, and active, creates air time for a clean change. Why prevention matters: If a horse learns to do late changes, it's much harder to undo. Start with correct mechanics early on: solid walk–canter and counter-canter work are key prerequisites.Prerequisites checklist: The horse must stay straight, through, and active; walk–canter–walk transitions should be precise and responsive.Rider feel and timing: It's hard to feel if a change is late behind without someone on the ground. Work with eyes on you whenever possible to confirm timing and build awareness.Lessons from Sabine Schut-KeryConsistency builds confidence: Follow a clear system every day - make small corrections before big problems appear.Basics never go away: Even at Olympic level, Sabine spends time on trot–walk–trot transitions, leg yields, and straightness work. The brilliance in Grand Prix tests comes from endless attention to detail in the basics. When horses get tense: Don't punish; redirect. Use tools like leg yields or shoulder-in to channel energy instead of fighting it.Community and next stepsIt's been inspiring to see everyone's progress in 30 Days to Round and inside Strides. Keep sharing your wins and questions, we're all working on the same basics, just at different stages!Happy Riding,AmeliaPS. get $100 off when you enroll in Flying Changes Made Simple this week only, offer ends this Sunday 12th Oct.

Episode: 1404 Prerequisites seen as a reflection of the structure of science. Today, let's talk about the prerequisite course.
The story of Noah reveals profound lessons for our time, not just a children's tale about animals on a boat. Noah walked with God daily for 120 years, preaching righteousness while building the ark, yet only eight people were saved. His faithfulness despite apparent failure demonstrates true discipleship isn't measured by numbers but by obedience. The ark itself symbolizes God's atonement and salvation, with the Hebrew word for 'pitch' being the same used elsewhere for 'atonement.' Noah's commission after the flood parallels Jesus' Great Commission, challenging us to walk daily with God, trust His promises, and be willing to stand alone when necessary.
Noah's story teaches us about the prerequisites for entering God's new world. Like Noah, we must maintain communication with God, accept His invitation to salvation, and extend that invitation to others. We often try to negotiate with God rather than fully obeying, but obedience—though sometimes uncomfortable like life on the ark—is always safer than compromise. When God calls us to an assignment, He equips us for it, and His love completes our preparation for the new world He's creating.
Noah's faithfulness to God's call, despite not fully understanding it, saved humanity and gave us a second chance. What set Noah apart was his strong foundation in the Lord, which gave him strength and perseverance to complete an impossible task while others continued in sin. Many of us make excuses about time, money, or equipment when God calls us to build our 'arks.' However, like Noah, we must trust God's plan even when we don't understand it, recognizing that God doesn't choose perfect people—He chooses available people who will surrender to Him.

Join Pastor Seth Drewry at Believers Fellowship in Belleville, AR, as he explores the five foundational habits of the early church from the book of Acts in this week's sermon, "First 50 Days." This message is part of the "Act Normal" sermon series, which delves into the story of the early church and the extraordinary works of God through the first believers after Jesus' resurrection. In this sermon, Pastor Seth Drewry emphasizes the significance of prayer, obedience to Jesus, unity, scripture examination, and reliance on God as the core practices that positioned the early church for the power of Pentecost. He invites us to embrace these principles in our daily lives as we prepare for what God has in store for us. Join us next week at Believers Fellowship. In Prerequisites to Living, we discover that revival begins at the empty tomb and that real life in Christ often comes through what feels like the end—despair, doubt, and even death. Based on Luke 24:1–7, this sermon reminds us that before the resurrection, there was confusion and heartbreak—but Jesus overcame it all. If you've ever felt hopeless, discouraged, or spiritually lifeless, you're right where new life begins. Through faith in who Jesus is, what He said, and what He did, you can experience true, abundant life. Resurrection isn't just an event—it's the entry point to revival.

Self-confidence isn't something you wait to earn. It's a choice you make before there's any proof you'll succeed. But I know that choice isn't always easy. I used to believe confidence came from accomplishments, but I've learned that self-confidence is different. It's believing in yourself even when you have no evidence to back it up. That belief fuels every risk you take, every dream you chase, and every time you show up for yourself. If you've ever thought, “I'll feel confident when…” I want you to challenge that. Self-confidence isn't built on achievements or outside approval. It's an inside job. In this episode, I'll show you how to stop waiting and start believing, because confident teens and confident women don't wait for permission to trust themselves.
