Mark 12:28-34 Pastor Joel continues his series on living a focused life. Today he went over how to figure out our calling. If you want to learn more about our calling to love God, tune in to our podcast!
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Pastor Joel preaches about focusing our life on God. We can't just attend church and be content with being in the race. Instead, we need to run this race to win! Matthew 13:24-43 Pastor Joel addresses the age-old “Problem of Evil”: (1) If God were willing but unable to resolve evil, He is not omnipotent. (2) If God is able but unwilling, He is not benevolent. Since clearly evil exists, is God either not omnipotent or benevolent? Click on the link to find out!
1 Peter 2:4-5; Romans 12; 1 Corinthians 12:12 Pastor Jeff Fabian preached on how the church is described in the Bible. Church is not a physical place but rather a group of people. It is also described as a family, not just a community, that is called to discipleship.
Psalm 84 Pastor Joel preaches on learning to choose God based on Psalm 84. The three reasons why we should choose God are: we find peace in God, we find our purpose in God, and we find portion in God. By following God, we will miss out on things but it won’t be with things that matter.
Matthew 20:17-28 Pastor Joel preaches on redefining greatness based on Matthew 20:17-28. Jesus affirms the pursuit of greatness but what we believe to be greatness is not in line with what God believes. Our idea of greatness is fame, money, glory, etc., but God’s idea of greatness is service.
1 Kings 18:16-45 In reference to the above scripture, Pastor Joel preaches that when we bring the sacrifice, God brings the fire. He then lists three markings of a sacrifice to God: 1) Refusing to give into the status quo, or adopting the attitude of the world. Revival and awakening are opposites of status quo. 2) Moving past hype to holy. 3) Letting God do it, which involves trusting Him. God does not need our help in order to work in our lives; instead we need to sacrifice this need for control and give it all to God.
Matthew 16:13-19 Pastor Joel preaches on the power of revelation based on the scripture above. Revelation is God communicating truth through supernatural means and something that we need in the church today. Three reasons why we need revelation are (1) revelation releases identity, (2) revelation releases destiny, and (3) revelation releases revival.
Matthew 15:21-28 Pastor Joel preaches about how God is in favor of making us feel uncomfortable and doesn’t just coddle us but challenges us. He looks at Matthew 15:21-28 and the Canaanite woman. Pastor Joel then lists the three stages of pursuing after God: breaking through the silence of God, “the appetizer”, and complete death to self.
Matthew 16:24-27 Pastor Joel preaches on the joyful suffering of a true Christian. God chooses people who can deny themselves and follow Jesus, not the world. He looks for those who truly believe that a loss to themselves is a gain for Christ!
1 Thessalonians 4:1-12 Pastor Faith Eury Cho preached a sermon called Redefining Holiness based on 1 Thessalonians 4:1-12. She talked about how the essence of holiness is not perfection but love and it’s not about doing more good and less bad, but about doing life together with God. In verse 3, it states that we are sanctified, or set apart and dedicated to God. God has chosen us, no matter how broken we are and He wants us to please Him- but pleasing Him requires us to know Him intimately.
Matthew 25:31-46 Pastor Joel preaches a sermon based on Matthew 25:31-46 and the importance of loving our neighbors (especially those that are sick, broken, or poor). He then lists 3 reasons why we should love others the same way we love Jesus: at the end we will be portrayed as who we really are, Jesus is going to show up to us in a form we don’t expect, and loving the poor means loving Jesus.
Matthew 15:1-20 Pastor Joel preaches on Matthew 15:1-20, breaking down the differences between religion and revival. He shares how man-made religion creates rules, whereas Spirit-birthed revival creates changes from the inside out! The key to revival starts with repentance, turning from our old habits to open the door for God to move in our lives and our hearts!
2 Cor. 1:8-11 Pastor Joel preaches on hardships that allow us to fully rely on God, and not on ourselves. Oftentimes, we think that we can solve our own problems and go through life by ourselves, but we need Jesus. Trust in Him and He will deliver!
Acts 16:16-36 Pastor Joel preaches about Paul and Silas in jail. Even with their unfortunate and very painful circumstance, they lifted their hands up to praise God. Their desperate praise gave them strength and set them free. We also need to praise to be strengthened and to be able to set others free as well!
Matthew 6:19-24 Pastor Joel preaches a message based on Matthew 6:19-24 and what it means to store our treasures in heaven. He warns us against storing our treasures on earth because they are bad investments and only temporary and do not provide us with any peace; the only thing that provides us with peace is focusing our eyes only on God. One way we can do this is by generously giving to God through tithing. Tithing generously is not only giving back to God what he has provided for us, but also sets us free from financial bondage!
Mark 4:35-41 Pastor Joel preaches on the storms of life that are actually invitations to trust in God. Know that storms and hardships will come, but will help you to grow and see God in a personal way!
Psalm 119:1-16 Pastor Joel preaches on the importance of reading and memorizing scripture, and how these acts lead to a renewed mind. Throughout the day, our hearts become dirtied by sin and the only way to purify them again is through reading the Word. Reading and memorizing the Word ultimately helps us to stay on the path of purity, to not sin against God, and to experience the joy of salvation.
Psalm 1 Pastor Joel continues to preach on the power of a renewed mind and talks about how our thoughts lead to action. We need to find delight in the Lord and spend time in his Word because this will lead to prosperity in all aspects of our lives. He provides us with 3 practical applications to help find delight in the Word of God: reading the Bible with the Holy Spirit, reading it completely through, and reading it daily.
Psalms 16 Pastor Joel preaches on leaning on God as our refuge. We cannot be shaken if God is our safe place. He’s the only good thing we have because other gods will increase our sorrow. God has a wonderful plan for you and wants to give you wisdom. Keep Him as your firm foundation and He will fill you with joy. His presence is the path to life!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 Pastor Joel preaches on the importance of reading the Bible and why we fully trust it based off 2 Timothy 3:16-17. He provides us with 7 reasons we can believe the Bible is God-breathed: it’s historically accurate, scientifically accurate, prophetically accurate, thematically unified, confirmed by Jesus, survived all attacks, and has transforming power.
Matthew 7:21-24 & 25:31-46 Pastor Joel preaches on obedience. Being saved does not mean a spiritual gift, or one encounter with God. It means obedience — following through with God’s commands. If you are truly saved, you should hate sin, love the Word, love Jesus, and love His people, especially the church!
1 Peter 5:8-9 Pastor Joel preaches on the power of a renewed mind and that disciples of Christ should think differently. He focuses on 1 Peter 5:8-9 and reminds us to be alert against the enemy because he will use 4 main schemes against us: intimidation, temptation, shame, and division.

1 Corinthians 12:12-27 Pastor Joel preaches on the body of Christ and how we all have a role to play. We are placed in the body on purpose and depend on each other to contribute. We should be more than just consumers because God gave all of us something special to give and help!
