I'm giving it all away for Jesus now, you know. We got to redeem the time.”The cultural tension between Jews and Samaritans sets the stage for Jesus' radical act of compassion and revelation. This moment shatters cultural shame and personal guilt, proving Jesus meets people right where they are.[9:01] Transformation and Worship in Spirit and TruthOne conversation with Jesus turns the Samaritan woman into an evangelist to her entire town. Her transformation ripples outward, showing that personal encounters with truth can spark collective revival.According to Laurel, true worship isn't tied to a location or ritual. Instead, we must act our faith through a surrendered, Spirit-filled life.Living in spirit and truth becomes more than theology—it becomes a multiplying force of freedom.[20:25] Challenges and Encouragement for BelieversLegalism, shame, and spiritual burnout are real struggles for modern believers.Laurel shares how her own religious performance led to exhaustion and how encountering Jesus brought lasting freedom.[22:51] Laurel: “I promise you, growing up all the way into my 20s, in my early 20s, I would look at Christ or images of him, or Christ on the cross, and I wouldn't know who- I didn't know who he was.”Wounds from church experiences don't have to write the final chapter of your faith. Healing and purpose remain possible when we surrender to God.Believers are encouraged to live a lifestyle of repentance, humility, and unfiltered honesty before God.[32:28] The Power of the Holy Spirit in Modern TimesThe Holy Spirit isn't a concept confined to the early church—it's a present force guiding and healing today.Laurel shares stories of spiritual breakthrough and reminds believers that revival begins with personal obedience.Following Jesus means actively listening, discerning, and stepping into purpose led by the Spirit. The call is clear: lean into the Holy Spirit's presence and let Him do the work only He can do.[40:49] Addressing Shame and Finding Freedom in ChristShame distorts identity and silences spiritual authority, but it doesn't have the final word. Laurel herself has journeyed through a valley of deep shame — but Christ's love shattered every lie.Freedom came not through hiding, but through confession and grace. Through the relentless pursuit of truth, she was able to surrender to God.Listeners are urged to stop hiding, start healing, and reclaim their place as sons and daughters of the King.[47:20] Reagan: “That's what Jesus does. He unites people. He does so because he's bringing people together through the truth of the gospel.”[48:40] Living a Life of Worship and ServiceBeing able to surrender to God and worship goes beyond music—it's found in daily acts of obedience, faithfulness, and service.Laurel encourages believers to discover how their unique gifts can be expressions of worship.Even small acts of faithfulness carry weight in the Kingdom when done in love and obedience.Listeners are reminded that God honors hearts surrendered in both the big and the quiet, hidden places.[55:16] Understanding the Spiritual JourneyLiving by the Spirit requires intentional daily surrender.Laurel explains how believers must crucify the flesh and embrace the eternal life birthed through the Spirit. The Holy Spirit becomes the source of joy, healing, and clarity in a chaotic world. It's not about trying harder, but walking in step with the Spirit who renews us from the inside out.[1:03:38] Laurel: “I refuse to give human beings and this world more praise and more of my energy and my day than I give the one who gave his life for me.”[1:12:22] An Invitation to Surrender to GodRather than striving to fix what's broken, listeners are encouraged to sit with Jesus—just as they are—and receive the healing that only His love can bring. No weapon formed against you will prosper. No lie of the enemy can stand against the truth of your identity in Christ.Say yes to restoration. Say yes to Jesus. Surrender to God and let your journey of healing begin—right here, right now.About LaurelLaurel Bunker is a seasoned preacher, educator, and spiritual leader with over three decades of ministry experience across higher education, nonprofits, and the local church. We're not just a church. We're a Family. Our Vision is clear, simple, and unique. Our vision is Jesus in you. Our vision is for the people of God to have a faith that holds them. The kind of faith that vanquishes doubt, verifies identity, and voraciously contends for inner peace. A faith that removes the past, clarifies the present, and breathes life into the future. Our vision is the Kingdom of God built within the people of this obscure, yet mighty generation. A kingdom so great that its purpose destroys the common lack of self worth. A kingdom that sharpens the eyes, tenses the muscles, and readies itself for the battle against darkness. A Kingdom that brings purpose and healing to those who have failed more than succeeded, who are sinners more than saints, and who have known more pain than pleasure. Our vision is to challenge the weak and unproductive church of our day. To step beyond those who are religiously immature and search out those who for their love for Christ cannot be offended. Our hope is to raise warriors instead of those who think God only exists to keep bad things from happening. To raise those who know that following Christ means suffering loss yet gaining all things. Our vision is clear, simple, and unique…. It is Christ in you, the hope of glory. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/proclaimingjesus/support

Brian Lee takes us on the journey of Jesus and one of his biggest opponents: the religious elite. This religious spirit is a performance-based, self-centered, critical and legalistic way of thinking that chokes out peace, joy and freedom in the life of a believer. Jesus has a better way: freedom.
Episode 193: Confronting the Religious SpiritJesus wasn't always polite. He did not always speak with gentle tones. He was not committed to making conversations easy on people. Jesus said the hard things…and sometimes He said the hard things in a hard manner. This episode of Mavericks & Misfits takes us through six separate and intense statements that Jesus made against the religious leaders of His day. Rarely do we stop and recognize how offensive these statements would have been to the Pharisees. In fact, when He delivered all six of his indictments against them, they looked for rocks to use to stone Him to death on the spot. When confronting the religious spirit, Jesus did not hold back. If we are to be like Him, there will be times when we will need to be as direct as He was.
Sunday | Kicking Out A Religious Spirit

We pray that as you listen to this sermon the Holy Spirit convicts you of the righteousness given to you by the blood of Jesus.

" Many cultures throughout history have attached profound spiritual and cultural significance to dreams. Dreams have inspired countless works of literature, art, and film. Dreams are a common part of the human experience, and they have been the subject of much study and speculation throughout history. They have often been viewed as messages from the Divine and sources of guidance.Dreams in Scriptures have often been a means of divine communication. God uses dreams to convey messages, guidance, and revelations to individuals. In the Old Testament, God spoke to figures like Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph through dreams, providing them with important instructions and insights. biblical narratives are inspired by dreams and visions.Even in the story of Joseph, once he had a God dream, his brothers thought to kill him and enslave the dream and the dreamer. Likewise today, perhaps the greatest threat to Divine dreams is a "Religious Spirit".In this episode of Keep it 100, we talk about the prophetic significance of dreams and have a conversation with The Altar Global movement's founder Jeremiah Johnson.website: www.seanandchristasmith.cominstagram: @revseansmith @mrschristasmithYouTube:: https://www.youtube.com/@seanandchristasmithministriesFacebook: @seanandchristasmithministries
// Episode 34 // Double 1 7 ( Overcoming Victory ) ANDDR Stephen E Jones writes this..."The number thirty-four in Hebrew was written with the letters lamed (authority) and daleth (a door). It has to do with the authority to walk through the door or to enter a house. One may lawfully enter after one has identified himself. "SO I THINK THAT 34 IS THE NUMBER THAT INDICATES THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING TRUE IDENTITY. "- Troy BrewerIn episode 34 Brienne and Margaux share their own language and personal experience in attempt to help shed light on a "religious spirit "and "religious abuse". Religious abuse is when religious authority is used to manipulate or control others, through the twisting of scripture or misuse of office and influence. Religious abuse is far too common and can even be found in our own internal belief systems and structures created from our experiences or inherited from our ancestors. Its important we learn to identify when we are being accused or controlled but a religious spirit, shame or religious abuse ( which includes both ) so we can discern and reject in order to rightly know our amazing savior! . We are all on the journey of more freedom and learning to see God more clearly and truly. There is no judgement or condemnation for you as you identify areas you've been led astray. Our only intention is to name some spiritual dynamics to help you find language for something you may be experiencing and take it to God for further guidance and deliverance.Scriptural references in the episode:“Truly, truly I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in another way, the man is a thief and a robber…” John 10:1-“A house divided against itself cannot stand…” Mark 3:24-26“His kindness leads us to repentance..” Romans 2:4“Admonish one another” Romans 15:14“Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28I want to release freedom to question and discern. To know his voice for yourself. Even if a leader in your life tells you something that doesn't feel right or makes you feel you can't discern God for yourself, you're not dishonoring them by taking it to God asking Him for discernment. This Sunday Pastor David continues our series on "Things That Get In The Way!" by speaking about "A Religious Spirit."People who come to faith must live out their faith through a growing and dynamic relationship with Christ. If they don't, they adopt a religious spirit to replace the genuine passion for the things of the Lord. Addressing that spirit is essential for healthy growth and spiritual maturity. Listen and be challenged by this word!
It is a recurrent theme that when some leaders are questioned with regards to their teaching and their beliefs, accusations of a religious spirit or a legalist spirit gets tossed into the ring. Those who would dare test what is taught in accordance with Scripture, or those who would conceive of questioning the man or woman of God are seemingly labeled as being plagued with that pesky religious spirit.
