In this episode we look back at how it started (a guest room closet + $20 mic + TV tray) and how God has grown us, our marriage, and this show over seven years—from fear and hustle to rest and trust. We talk about money, messy action, viral moments, criticism, love languages, parenting, and what "success" actually looks like for our family now. Welcome back to the Ending Well series. This is week five of looking back over the year, letting God redeem the hard parts, and choosing who we want to become as we step into a new season. Today's episode is all about marriage — but even more specifically, the kind of wife you want to be. Not the Instagram version. Not the performance version. The real, healed, whole version. This year, God radically reshaped how I see myself as a wife. I didn't set out to "become a better wife," but as He broke my addiction to productivity and constant performance, it transformed our marriage into an even safer place, a deeper gift, and a stronger home base. Episode Snapshot In this conversation, I share honestly about: The "strong, high-capacity, always-on" identity I lived in for years How that mindset spilled into our marriage and made me controlling, critical, and exhausted The follower's question that changed everything: "What did you do to change that brought this out in him?" Why sometimes you have to go first in doing the inner work The difference between survival-mode marriage and a marriage built on connection How God used pruning, slowing down, and healing my nervous system to completely shift my role as a wife We also name an important reality: There are marriages where abuse, betrayal, or deep harm is present, and "trying harder" as a wife is not the answer. I am not speaking into those situations; I am sharing from a context where I am married to a good man, and our biggest battles were often with our own mindsets, wounds, and habits. Key Shifts God Made In Me This Year Letting him lead Moving out of constant control mode Asking for his thoughts and actually listening Giving him room to step forward in decisions and in parenting Becoming less reactive, less critical Recognizing how perfectionism makes you hard on yourself and everyone around you Learning the difference between reacting and responding Owning moments where I project my own embarrassment or anxiety onto him Allowing myself to be supported Letting him help with dishes, laundry, the mental load, and home life Receiving service as an expression of love instead of proof that I am failing Integrating my calling and my home No longer seeing ministry or work as competition with being a wife and mom Letting God reorder my priorities: Jesus, marriage, children, then everything else Moving from "two separate versions of me" to one whole, integrated person Underneath it all, God shifted me from: "More of me, doing more, performing more" to "Less of me, more of Him — loving from abundance instead of exhaustion." A Scripture to Sit With "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." Psalm 127:1 This is true of literal houses and of marriages. Reflection Questions Take these to prayer, to your journal, or into a gentle conversation with your spouse: What kind of wife do I actually want to be — if no one were watching but God? Where am I over-functioning, trying to hold everything together in my own strength? Do I criticize my husband more than I pray for him? Where might God be inviting me to soften, slow down, or make space for him to lead? Am I willing to let Jesus make me whole, instead of just more productive? And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. We've all had a moment when a tiny pebble sneaks into our shoe and makes it almost impossible to keep walking. We stop, we remove it, and we move forward. But what about the pebbles in our hearts—old hurts, resentments, memories, or disappointments that stay hidden until something shakes them loose? In this episode, I share a deeply personal story of discovering a pebble I didn't know I still carried. A story about a niece I loved like my own daughter—our closeness, our drifting apart, and the shock of realizing that years later, I still held hurt. When tragedy struck her life, I wanted to help. But that pebble—unnoticed, unacknowledged—made generosity feel hard. Pain blocked compassion. I wasn't proud of how I felt, but I was honest about it. And that honesty opened the door to healing. This is an episode about:

“Let Go and Let God” gets misunderstood all the time. Some people think it means giving up, backing out, shutting down, or sitting on their hands waiting for a miracle. But that's not recovery — and that's not God. Letting go is not defeat. Letting go is not apathy. Letting go is release — release of the illusion that we control everything. Today we're talking about the REAL meaning of “Let Go and Let God”: Surrendering control, not responsibility • Taking action while releasing the outcome • Trusting God's direction instead of forcing our own • Why apathy is self-will in disguise • How letting go increases peace, not passivity Letting go is an act of courage. Letting God is an act of faith. When we combine both, we stop fighting life and start living it.

David knew betrayal, fear, and injustice more than most. One day he was the nation's hero with songs written about him (1 Samuel 18:6–7 NLT). The next, Saul was hurling spears at him (1 Samuel 18:10–11 NLT). Soon David found himself hunted, hungry, and hiding in the wilderness (1 Samuel 21–22 NLT).Psalm 52 is David's response to one of the darkest betrayals of his life—the moment Doeg the Edomite informed Saul about David's visit to the priest Ahimelech (1 Samuel 21:7 NLT). That single moment set off a horrific chain reaction. Saul, spiraling in jealousy and paranoia, ordered Doeg to slaughter the priests of the Lord (1 Samuel 22:9–10, 17–18 NLT). David was devastated. His choices weren't perfect, but the injustice was real and brutal. But instead of letting bitterness rot his soul, David wrote Psalm 52—nine verses that show how to keep a clean heart even when you've been done dirty. If you've ever been betrayed, slandered, ghosted, passed over, lied about, or wounded by someone close, Psalm 52 speaks directly to you. This short psalm gives us five steps for guarding your heart when life cuts deep.1) Take Your Pain to GodDavid begins by naming the wrong and naming the offender. “Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor… you love evil more than good” (Psalm 52:1–4 NLT). This isn't gossip—it's biblical lament. It's honesty aimed heavenward. Before David tells people what happened, he tells God.Psalm 62:8 (NLT) says, “Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”If we don't take our pain to God, our pain will take us. Lament turns our emotional chaos into prayer instead of bitterness. Trade passive-aggressive posts for honest conversation with your Father.2) Make Room for God's JusticeDoeg's betrayal and Saul's massacre were horrific. Yet David doesn't seek revenge. He entrusts justice to God: “But God will strike you down…” (Psalm 52:5–7 NLT).Scripture is clear:“Never take revenge… ‘I will pay them back,' says the Lord.” Romans 12:19 NLT.Vengeance chains you to the very thing God wants to free you from. Instead, Scripture calls us to bless when insulted (1 Peter 3:9 NLT) and overcome evil with good (Romans 12:20–21 NLT).Letting God judge doesn't mean ignoring boundaries. Proverbs 4:23 (NLT) calls us to guard our hearts with wisdom—but without bitterness.3) Own Your PartDavid wasn't blameless in the Nob incident. He lied to the priest (1 Samuel 21:2 NLT). That didn't excuse Saul or Doeg, but it meant David had to face his own heart: “But as for me...” (Psalm 52:8 NLT).Being wronged doesn't automatically make us right. Jesus teaches us to go...

Sermon from Matthew 20:1–28 preached on September 7, 2025, by Nathan Lugbill.
What is faith? Faith is letting God be the judge. In the life of Jephthah, we see his faith in God by submitting to the Lord's judgment. The Spirit of the Lord came on him and allowed him to conquer the enemies of Israel. His secret? He yielded to the righteous judgment of the Lord!If you got saved watching the broadcast today, need prayer, would like to connect with us, or you would like to give into this ministry please visit here:https://www.gospeltabernaclechurch.com/connect
At the Cross, Jesus embodied the ultimate surrender. Though He had every right to cling to His life, He laid it down in obedience to the Father's will, praying, “Not My will, but Yours be done.” Yet that surrender was not loss but the doorway to the highest life: God raised Him from the dead, exalted Him above every name, and through His sacrifice opened eternal redemption for the world. Just as Jesus said, a seed must fall into the ground and die to bear fruit; so His surrender has borne fruit in countless lives redeemed. And because the Cross is not only our salvation but also our pattern, we too are called to lay down our “lower” lives—our comfort, our control, our ambitions—so that His resurrection life may rise in us.

Letting God Be Lord Over Your Finances, which Are His but He Entrusted to You, Will Liberate Your Life! MESSAGE SUMMARY: We are so focused on earning money and other financially driven life activities so that it is easy for money and finances to become our god. Making finances “our god” violates the Second Commandment. If Jesus is Lord over all Creation, as we are told in Psalms 24:1, then: “The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.”; therefore, everything that has been entrusted to you is God's. In James 5:1-3, the author of the Book of James provides insight into someone who does NOT make God the Lord of their finances: “Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten. Your gold and silver have corroded, and their corrosion will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure in the last days.”. Therefore, let God Be Lord over your finances, which really are His finances. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, I now take a deep breath and stop. So often I miss your hand and gifts in my life because I am preoccupied and anxious. Grant me the power to pause each day and each week to simply rest in your arms of love. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 132). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that because of what God has done for me in His Son, Jesus, I AM FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! Episode 78 Friends, it's no surprise that I start this episode by going down a rabbit trail. This time it was about hazel nuts. But the real reason I have today's guest, Tara Sun, on the program is to talk about her new book, Overbooked and Overwhelmed: How to Keep Up With God When You are Just Trying To Keep Up With Life. Tara and I talk about the story behind the book and I especially loved talking about some of the parts that resonated with me most. One of those was how we both struggle to say no because we both love saying yes. There is a chapter in her book that addresses this by inviting us to be on mission for God and recognizing that sometimes that means saying no to things that aren't part of that mission. Another important thing we talked about is that this book isn't going to give you the perfect organizational system or the best baskets and bins to buy so that you will feel more peaceful and less overwhelmed. What it will do is point you to the true source of peace and that is Jesus. There is so much more we discuss in this episode. I know you're going to get so much out of it. I did! Listen and share with your friends! And don't forget to leave a review of the podcast if you haven't done that already. Help me spread the word! Thanks friends. Before Israel ever faced the Red Sea, God made His presence and leadership unmistakable. In the wilderness, a pillar of cloud guided them by day and a pillar of fire by night—an unmissable reminder that they weren't navigating life alone. The cloud didn't give them a full map, just the next step. Sometimes it stayed for a day, sometimes for months, but Israel moved only when God moved. In our own lives, we often want the entire plan upfront, yet God calls us to follow His presence one step at a time. Letting God take the lead means trading the security of our own schedule for the security of His presence, even when it disrupts our plans Connect with Us | Text Us: (650)600-0402
In this episode of the Deep Spirituality podcast, we dive into what it truly means to have conviction, not as a rigid stance or empty words, but as a deeply personal and spiritual transformation forged in the fire of life's challenges. You'll explore the idea of the “nosedive”—those moments when everything feels like it's falling apart—and discover how God uses them to build unshakable faith, clarity, and courage. Whether you're feeling stuck, tired, or just searching for more, this conversation will remind you that your spiritual journey isn't about perfection—it's about progress. It's about becoming who you were always meant to be, one step (and one nosedive) at a time.
Jake and Cathy catch up with Catholic singer-songwriter Aly Aleigha to talk about her journey of drawing hearts to Christ through music. She shares how the Camino inspired “Wait Out the Rain” and teases the story behind Aurora —a new song born from something that helped her and her now-husband through a long-distance relationship. Change is necessary for growth, and if we've been born again, our own lives should demonstrate transformation. Others should be able to look at us and notice some type of difference or alternate route taken as a result of our Christian walk. Yielding to the Holy Spirit's prompting and beginning to think in line with Him begins changing our lives radically. Letting God direct and guide us as we change is similar to the metamorphosis a caterpillar undergoes in becoming a butterfly. When we cooperate with Christ in this process, our lives will be totally different and unrecognizable from what they were previously.
