Friends,Today Heather and I look at the war in Iran through the lens of Donald Trump's insatiable need to expand and display his power. How can he even consider getting America into this war without consulting Congress? Doesn't doing so also violate his promise to the American people in the 2024 election that he would avoid foreign entanglements? And who is advising him, now that half of the professionals on the National Security Council have been fired and neither Tulsi Gabbard (who's supposed to be the intelligence czar) nor Pete Hegseth (at least formally the secretary of defense) is involved in Trump's decision-making? We'll get to these and other questions. Please pull up a chair, grab a cuppa, take our poll, and join the discussion. This is a public episode. Thought to share? Send me a text...What happens when the power of politics collides with religious authority? Jesus's trial before Pilate reveals a pivotal moment where human justice systems falter but divine plans prevail.Pilate's interrogation of Jesus brings forward the timeless question: "What is truth?" While Pilate views truth as something determined by power and authority, Jesus embodies a truth that "comes from elsewhere but is meant to take up residence in this world," as theologian N.T. Wright eloquently describes. This ancient question resonates with our contemporary discussions of subjective versus objective truth. Most profound is Jesus's complete sovereignty throughout his trial. What appears to be a tragic miscarriage of justice is revealed as God's redemptive plan unfolding exactly as prophesied centuries earlier. From Isaiah's foretelling of the sacrificial lamb to Jesus's strategic words and silences before his accusers, we witness divine orchestration at work. The religious leaders ultimately declare "we have no king but Caesar," tragically denying their messianic hope to achieve their immediate goal. This episode challenges us to examine our own lives: Do we, like Pilate, prioritize social acceptance over conviction? Do we recognize God's hand even in apparent injustice? Join us as we ponder how the greatest injustice in human history became the foundation for our redemption. To read my blog, find out more about me, or to book a speaking engagement, head to https://betsymarvin.com/For access to past podcasts and transcripts, head tohttps://betsymarvin.com/podcasts/You can follow me on Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/betsyjmarvin/and Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/betsy.marvin.98
"Mira, ponte las pilas." How many times have you heard that phrase before? Or "no seas una pendeja," or "nadie te quita lo que está para ti." These phrases helped guide us into the women we are today. We picked ourselves up and dusted ourselves off because we had tough love at home that taught us how to be tougher chingonas. And to be honest, these phrases still help me out to this day! When I'm feeling low, I think, "Mira, Erika, ponte las pilas," and get out of my slump. Because mama didn't raise a pendeja! I got introduced to a new phrase (but not a new idea) by a recent Chappell Roan interview: Walk Away Energy. When asked how she stays so chill despite all her success, Chappell Roan said it was because she has “walk away energy.” And I absolutely had to sit down and talk about that. “Walk away energy” is similar to the detachment idea we were talking about here recently. It's the idea that you are never, ever willing to stay in something that is past its expiration date; it's the concept that you trust yourself enough to walk away from something when it's over, or when someone isn't treating you the way you deserve. It's taking all those thoughts of “But what if this is the best I can get?” and throwing them the f*ck away. If someone isn't meeting your standards, you don't have to stick around and tell them that you deserve to be treated better. When you have walk away energy, you don't waste your time begging for the bare minimum. You just walk away. It sounds easier than it is…but once you master it, you'll find it's your most powerful tool for attracting the kind of relationship you ACTUALLY deserve. Control freaks, brace yourselves! In the final episode of her five-part series, Hilary serves up a truth bomb with the fifth core concept of her self-centered model: The outcome is internal. Translation? Stop obsessing over things you can't control and start owning what's already yours—your inner power. Hilary breaks down why we tie our worth to things we can't control—whether it's nailing the job interview, getting the client deal, or making someone like us. Really, It's a losing game. She shares how letting go of external outcomes doesn't just free you from stress and anxiety—it gives you the ultimate power to thrive, no matter what. Episode Highlights: Why control is an illusion (and why your frantic grasping isn't working). How to measure success by how YOU show up, not how others respond. The paradox of letting go: Stop chasing, start attracting. Why the real win is inside you—and how to claim it. Hilary's soap analogy: Let go, or watch it slip through your fingers. After tens of thousands of hours spent in one-on-one sessions with clients, she's got the receipts on what works and what doesn't. In this episode, she calls out the big lie of self-help: most advice out there is just symptom management. Meditate your anxiety away? Sure, that's cute—for a minute. But unless you tackle the root cause, it's like playing whack-a-mole with your problems. The truth is, you are both the problem and the solution. And while that truth might sting, it's also your golden ticket to real change. Hilary's “self-centered” model shows you how to stop blaming the world and start owning your life. She'll guide you through identifying the limiting beliefs and patterns that are keeping you stuck—and how to break free once and for all. Welcome back to The Round 12 MOTIVATIONAL MASTERY Podcast Show! Episode #132 “WHAT IS SELF CARE… Is It Really Important?!” Here we are at Episode Number 132. Self Care is an interesting and important point of interest indeed. If you don't take care of yourself, then who will… your mother?! Not if you've grown older and have the new responsibility. Not if you have no one to call when challenges get tough. Not if you caught the flu and you're lying there trying to figure it out. Not when you need to make a decision, and you can't get anyone to make it for you. Self-care means looking out for oneself and staying on top of the things that need attention. It means liking and loving yourself enough to not question when you need to value your own perspective and needs. So, in the final analysis, just be okay with looking out for your own self along the way and be comfortable with that concept. It doesn't mean selfish; it doesn't mean any bad thing to any other person… It just means that self-preservation is the First Law of Nature! And for the growth, development and preservation of our humanity… That's Just a Good Thing! Welcome back to The Round 12 MOTIVATIONAL MASTERY Podcast Show! Episode #131 “THE ULTIMATE POWER TO BE YOUR BEST” Here we are at 131 Episodes later, on a humble Podcast that started with just an instinctive effort to add content to the world's cynicism and disconnect! I like that I built it, and I realized that it wasn't done for praise, it was done for personal perspective and contribution to one or many who saw value in its content. So, this week's episode has reflection, strength of character, and that same old, consistent reminder to dig down, find your best self and have some fun pursuing the goals that make you happiest and strongest. If the reminders I offer leave you cold and feeling like ‘I don't need to listen to this dude' this makes me smile… because all it tells us, is that you don't want to listen to the best of your own self! So please forgive me if this reminder type stuff is not your cup of tea… That's ok. Remember, as you pass on by… It's just me talkin' to me.. and hoping that if you hear me, and it reminds you of something good. Then we all are better for it! If we get lucky… We may just find… THE ULTIMATE POWER TO BE OUR BEST! Wouldn't that be cool. - Smile! – Peace. Are you frustrated with the medical system when it comes to chronic illness? Perhaps frustrated with the obvious hold industry has over public service institutions? What if you had the power to cultivate a level of safety for your system that helped you feel more well and resilient in today's world and less reliant on the system in the first place? Today we explore both of these with Dr Olivia Lesslar. Olivia and I discuss: There is a need for more nuance and deeper thinking in medicine today and in what the public takes to be ‘truth,' whether that be believing something is a silver bullet fix, ‘bad food', or ‘safe and effective medication'. We ALL need to think more. We look at the path from the research lab to product to clinician and how we can do better in that processWe look at how caring for patients has lost its way, so often reading for symptoms that match up with medication and not seeing the nuance or the opportunities to build a greater independence from needing external medication. We look at the conundrum for many: Complex illness requiring expert clinicians and cost often being prohibitive: Of course the doctors are worth it for all the study and experience they bring, but at the same time, often being a last resort, patients with chronic illness have limited funds. We look at safety signaling in the body and how we can cultivate a mindset of health by looking to the emerging and established evidence in neuro/immune connectionHow can I be less breakable and shakable? Working on that is one of the most powerful health cultivation focuses we can have. A powerFULL episode for all inspired towards a better model of healthcare, and a world with fewer people suffering chronic illness. In this episode, my friend Megan Wilcox shares her life story, emphasizing the struggle with her self-worth, addiction, and eventually finding sobriety. Growing up, her parents divorced, and Megan faced difficulties fitting in and experienced anxiety from a young age. Her journey into addiction began with gambling and escalated into daily wine drinking. After having her two sons, her marriage was struggling, and the divorce process began. Megan struggled more and more with alcohol. The turning point came after a low moment during the Christmas season, leading her to seek help.
