Send us a textThe subject of today's episode is one we usually avoid in polite conversation, and honestly, I have never heard it addressed from the pulpit. We're talking about the decision to take one's own life, suicide. I know that just saying the word can cause a tightening in the chest. But we have to talk about it, because 1 Samuel 31 very clearly ends with King Saul taking his own life.If you, or if you know someone is struggling, I want you to hear me clearly: There is hope. Before you go any further, I want you to write a number down. Put it in your phone. In the US, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is 988. In the UK, it's an organization called The Samaritans, and you can call them free on 116 123 They're free, it's confidential, and it's available 24/7. Please, don't try to walk through that "narrow" place alone. My New book, "The Renewed Mind", available now at;https://amzn.eu/d/0RkxBbgSupport the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

The Renewed Mind and Believer's Authority - Four areas we can be deceived out of our In Him identity. 12.10.25
Send us a textAs we talk through this topic together, we name the tension we've both felt: wanting to lose weight while also craving real peace. We explore what we've believed weight loss would give us and what God actually says about those longings. Instead of rigid plans or giving up entirely, we look at how inviting God into our food choices, body image, and emotions brings a kind of freedom a number on the scale simply can't. We share honestly about chasing thinness, the ache when affirmation fades, and the realization that even big changes in our bodies can't fix the places only truth can heal. Romans 12:2 keeps us anchored in renewal, not performance. We also talk about the two extremes we've seen in ourselves—obsession and apathy—and how the narrow road of stewardship brings clarity: caring for our bodies as God's handiwork while letting identity rest securely in Christ. That shift changes everything, moving motivation from fear to love, from self-focus to worship, and from quick fixes to sustainable rhythms. We share simple mind-renewal tools we actually use: breath prayers that settle the body, prompts that expose unhelpful beliefs, and small daily check-ins that turn eating into an act of trust. We speak openly about programs, medications, and surgeries without shame, framing them as possible supports—but not substitutes—for a renewed mind. Our hope is to offer gentleness, clarity, and a path forward for anyone longing for food peace and kinder self-talk. This message underscores the danger of external pressures and cultural norms shaping believers more than the Word of God, emphasizing the necessity of intentional transformation. The story of the prodigal son illustrates the unfortunate depths of spiritual malnutrition and the path that can lead to renewal. Scripture: Romans 12v1-2, Luke 15v10-32
Send us a textWhat if your strongest cravings aren't about food at all? As we talk through this topic together, we admit how often our cravings have nothing to do with actual hunger. We share openly about the ways we've reached for food, scrolling, or constant busyness when what our hearts really needed was comfort, truth, or simply God's presence. We walk through the lies we've believed—“I deserve this,” “This will help,” “I'm on my own”—and how we've learned to exchange them for steadier promises: God is near to the brokenhearted, He satisfies the longing soul, and in Christ, we are never condemned. We also get practical about what helps us in the moment: the “emergency kits” we each keep nearby—devotionals, warm tea, encouraging notes, different Bible translations, worship playlists, and written truth statements. We describe the mind-renewal practices that have genuinely helped us shift our focus: gratitude liturgy, praise moments that celebrate who God is, and simple prayers that invite the Holy Spirit into the empty spaces we used to fill with numbing. We share tender stories from seasons of care-giving, illness, and loss, and how grieving honestly—yet with gratitude—lightened the load. Our hope is to help you treat hunger with curiosity instead of panic, letting the Lord meet you right where you are.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org
In this stirring and deeply encouraging Advent message, Pastor Karl launches the new series The King Has Come with a powerful exploration of the first great gift Jesus brings: hope.Turning to Luke 2 and the quiet, largely forgotten figures of Simeon and Anna, Pastor Karl paints a vivid picture of two elderly saints who spent decades waiting in faithful obscurity—praying unanswered prayers, worshiping through silence, and serving without recognition. Yet the moment a 40-day-old baby was carried into the temple, their Spirit-illuminated eyes saw what the crowds missed: the long-promised Messiah, the Consolation of Israel, the Redemption of Jerusalem.Through their story, Pastor Karl reveals that biblical hope is not wishful thinking; it is the confident, unshakable expectation of future good rooted in the unchanging character and faithfulness of God. Hope grows in the hidden soil of daily faithfulness, thrives when God chooses to work in silence, and celebrates the tiny seed because it already trusts the coming harvest. Simeon and Anna never saw Jesus preach, heal, or rise from the dead—yet they held the infant King and departed in peace, because they knew who He was long before they saw what He would do.A tender yet convicting word for everyone who has waited a long time and is still waiting, prayed a long time and is still praying, and hoped a long time and is still hoping. In a season that can feel rushed and noisy, this message calls us to slow down, stay faithful, and train our eyes to recognize the presence of the King—even when He shows up wrapped in the ordinary, the small, and the seemingly insignificant.Because the King has come, hope is not dead. It is alive, resilient, and bubbling up in every heart that keeps showing up and keeps looking for Jesus. Essential listening for anyone who needs fresh hope this Christmas.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

The Renewed Mind and The Believer's Authority - We need a mind set on our new identity. 11.19.25
We have an unfair advantage. We have the Holy Spirit actually living inside of us to help us as we allow Him. One of the actions of the Holy Spirit is to renew our minds and transform us so that we can think and live like Jesus thinks and lives. The person with the renewed mind thinks and lives counter-culturally as an awakened Son or Daughter of the King. GIVE HERE - https://awake.church/give

Send us a textWhat if peace with food doesn't start with more rules but with a renewed mind and reordered love? In this episode, we sit on the porch and wrestle with a question many of us face: does focusing on mind renewal mean we get a free pass to eat anything, anytime? As we unpack Romans 12:2, Galatians 5:13, and Colossians 2, we talk about how real freedom grows—not from control or indulgence—but from connection. Together, we explore how intimacy with God reshapes our desires, how gratitude replaces shame, and how caring for our bodies can flow from wisdom instead of fear or striving. We also bring this conversation down to earth—addressing diets, GLP-1 medications, and surgery without shame or judgment. No matter the path, the real invitation is to pause and ask, “God, what are Your thoughts about this for me?” With simple tools like a breath prayer—inhale, “Jesus, I want to know You,” exhale, “more than I want control”—we make space for Spirit-led choices that last. If your soul is weary from the tug-of-war between rules and rebellion, this episode offers rest, reflection, and a gentler way home.Support the showLearn more about our Revelation Within Community: https://www.revelationwithin.org

This sermon explores the concept of renewing the mind as described in Romans 12:2, emphasizing the importance of transforming our thinking to align with God's will. The pastor discusses how this renewal process is essential for Christians to resist conformity to the world and instead live as a powerful testimony to God's transformative power. The sermon delves into the scientific concept of neuroplasticity and relates it to the biblical idea of mind renewal, highlighting how changed thinking leads to changed living and a deeper understanding of God's paradoxical kingdom.
