In this episode my good friend John joins me to discuss the importance of ownership. John is himself a small business owner based in Sheffield England. Over the past couple of weeks we have witnessed a number of high profile cancellations in the black community. Which for me raised the issue of ownership. Wiley commented that “He felt cheated by former partners in the music industry” He's been in the industry for over 20 years. Nick Canon had his show ‘Wild N Out' cancelled by Viacom. The show Is Canon's creation, but the question is does he own it? In the episode John and I touched on, the importance of owning one's work, the struggles of owning and running a business, proof reading contracts and building generational wealth through ownership.

Lets Talk: WELLBEING (Healing In The Black Community)

With everything that has been going on lately, I feel it is really important for us to discuss the topic of Wellbeing In the black community. A couple of months ago COVID hit, lockdown followed and social distancing became a thing. Black people where labelled as High-Rick for the chances of catching COVID, which meant that we had to be extra cautious to ensure we don't catch it. The black community rose and said enough was enough. The cold blooded murder of our brother George Floyd was the straw that broke the camel's back. Our beloved brother Will Smith was caught up in an entanglement not of his own making. Yet as a community we joked, laughed and chastised the man. Kanye once again showed us that all may not be well, and he may actually be in need of help. Our timelines have been filed with heavy content, Enough to give you a hangover! I think it's about time we discuss ‘Wellbeing' and healing in our community. In this episode I was joined by Ruben and Tiri. We discussed the importance of Mental health, Physical Wellbeing, the importance of setting expectations, the black family dynamics and Much more.. A little bit of kindness towards each other, goes a long way.

Lets Talk: BLACK LIVES MATTER (The George Floyd Effect)

“BLACK LIVES MATTER” such a simple term, yet it has been dividing people as to what it actually means. As a black man this is a deeply personal and sensitive subject to address. I have been personally affected by racism in my own life. I also feel affected by the struggles being fought as it relates to systematic and institutional racism, both in the UK and the USA. A couple of weeks ago George Floyd was Murdered in broad day light for everyone to see. The man pled and begged for his life, while Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for 8 Minutes and 46 seconds. In the that moment officer Chauvin became the Judge, Jury and Executioner. Needless to say, the death of George Floyd has sparked an outcry like never seen before. People have engaged in protests, debates, dialogue and conversations that would be otherwise brushed aside. My guest Edenamiuki stated “This is not a political issue, it's a human rights issue!”. In this Episode I am joined by 2 amazing guests, to help me unpack this topic. Lavinia is a Business Analyst, Entrepreneur, Blogger and is an advocate for women's rights. Edenamiuki is an Artist, Entrepreneur and Global director of the ‘Young Cooperative Leaders Initiative'. Powerful conversation with a lot of Gems to match.
