It's Christmastime, so we're talking about the iconic, Donna Reed. She played Mary Bailey (the wife) in the timeless classic, "It's a Wonderful Life." As a natural born beauty she was quickly identified by Hollywood producers and started appearing in films at just 20 years old. During World War II, she quickly became a leading lady in Hollywood. She was typecast into playing the "girl next door" and tried to break this image that was crafted for her by taking on a character who was a sex worker. Unfortunately, she didn't break free of her typecasting, but she did win an Academy Award. She ultimately decided to play by her own rules and create her own sitcom called, "The Donna Reed Show." Her and her husband at the time produced it and she starred in it. It was a sleeper hit, but eventually was nominated and won awards. Beyond the screen, Donna became a peace activist during the Vietnam War, co-chairing the anti-war group, Another Mother for Peace. Uncover the personal struggles she faced, including a divorce and her battle with pancreatic cancer, all while maintaining her grace and resilience. This week marks the 100-episode milestone! Thank you to everyone who has supported, supports, and will support the show and journey. I am extremely grateful for all of the people that listen and provide feedback. For episode 100, I bring on my best friend and "brother from another mother", Justin McAndrew. Justin and I met on the back of the bus 22 years ago, thanks to a silver Corvette that was behind our school bus. A conversation about cars turned into a lifetime friendship and I wouldn't want it any other way. We drank and just had a conversation about our life. I had a blast recording this episode and know you will enjoy it! Enjoy!

Start with Shakespeare's "star-crossed" lovers and fold in the songs of Swedish pop hitmaker Max Martin… what do you get? The hit Broadway musical & Juliet, currently running at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York and nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. The show imagines what would happen if Juliet woke up after Romeo's death and decided not to end it all. Instead, she goes on a trip to Paris with some new friends, including Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway. Juliet discovers that Romeo isn't really dead… but he's also not exactly boyfriend material. And every so often, the characters break into song with Max Martin's hits for Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, and Katy Perry. The writer behind this mash-up is David West Read. He previously served as writer and executive producer of the comedy series Schitt's Creek, and he created The Big Door Prize and the forthcoming Brother from Another Mother, both running on AppleTV+. Host Barbara Bogaev talks with Read about & Juliet… and the concussion that inspired it. Get tickets to & Juliet here, and tune in to the Tonys broadcast on Sunday, June 11 at 8 pm ET on CBS. Listen to this Whinypaluza Wednesday Live vlog episode with The Greene Family! An extension of the weekly blog, join Rebecca and her family on the live vlog, brought to you here in case you missed it last week! Here is what to expect on this week's show: Another Mother's Day in the books! What was different this year? Why do we have a hard time breaking from the daily routine on our special day? Should we continue to do chores and errands? Many things were wonderful, some were not. It is still a long and exhausting day when you incorporate other family- mothers and mothers-in-law. The key to a wonderful day is to communicate what you want. If you have a difficult time communicating your wants with your family, start practicing. If you have a difficult time “doing” less, practice! If you take anything away from Mother's Day, take this: practice slowing down and taking breaks. Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful ladies!
