I guess we have a podcast now? Jim and Barb are siblings who sit down to chat on the internet because nobody is going outside anymore.
Jim and Barb record live from Barb's dining room so there is a lot of mouth and nose sound that comes from a setup like that unfortunately. Also our voicemail number has expired so don't call it any more. Barb asks what you use to clean your cleaning implements and it all goes down hill from there. Also Barb invites a strange man into her home and he abruptly leaves when she's not buying what he's selling, and admits there is likely a list of people who want her dead that is completely unrelated to the strange. You'll have to listen for the full context, because I'm shameless. From what I've read it seems like this is a "lifestyle" podcast so we just talk about whatever random stuff that pops into our heads which means that it has a very limited audience but people like niche things. Anyway, maybe you also think about dishwashers. The previous version of this episode didn't have all the audio tracks. This one does. We did not secretly become a movie podcast. It was the intent to talk about this movie and we got there eventually, but we took the long way there through Couches, Beds, Work, and Tanzania. Anyway it's a good listen. Do you run a film festival? Do you want untrained amateur podcasters to cover the films you play? Call us! This is the kind of expert coverage you might expect if you pay for us to attend and promote your event. But it would be better because it wouldn't be just Barb and also it would be more timely. You try to get Barb to talk about anything and she immediately wants to talk about her car and her car problems. We did eventually get to the topic as noted in the title but first you have to listen to exciting stories of Catalytic Converters, Removable Faceplates, Mind Palaces, and More! I don't know any more. We are basically just Car Talk. Much respect to Tom and Ray Magliozzi. Barb is disappointed that we don't have real topics and are just doing catch-up shows but she also didn't bring a topic to the table so this is where we are. We also talked about TVs, Dogs, and Roller Derby. We are on brand as always. Predictable some might say. We recorded this episode back in April of 2023 but I forgot about it and so well it took a while for it to get out. Very little in this episode is still accurate except that Barb still has a list of cars that she is contemplating but has refused to do anything about. In the words of the late great Iron Shiek; "Never give up or you are big time jabroni." The 2022 series Willow landed on Disney+ in November and Jim and Barb watched some of it in December, and more of it in January and recorded a podcast about it in February and this podcast is getting released in March. Reboots revive beloved characters from our youth. Reboots allow creative people to tell new and interesting stories without needing to explain everybody's life story. Reboots are extremely profitable. Now that the Spider-Man movies are part of a multiverse do they count as reboots? We don't actually answer that question, but we think it is a good one that might make people listen to this episode by including it in the episode description. Couches, Sofas, Love Seats, Hide-A-Beds, Chaise Lounges, Davenports. They are the places you put your butts when you decide to do sit down and sometimes you need to buy one and sometimes you just have too many of them hanging around taking up space in your life and you need to get rid of them and replace them with something that actually fits your lifestyle and the vibe you are trying to create in your living room. Wikipedia defines a midlife crisis as "a transition of identity and self-confidence that can occur in middle-aged individuals, typically 45 to 65 years old." We couldn't have Barb leave without recording one more live episode. It is still weird. Real weird. Also Jim breathes into the microphone a lot. Anyway if Barb ever wants to tell you any stories about her trip to Boston you can cut her off and tell her that you listened to this episode of the podcast. There really isn't much else she could tell you that we don't cover. For a limited time Jim and Barb are both working from home in the same home in Boston. To celebrate this momentous occasion one of our favorite listeners, Camille, baked us 4 different brownies following very strict scientific processes so we could compare and contrast. We had Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, and Camille's homemade recipe. We judged them based on look, smell, taste and texture. We forgot to record for a while and we didn't get to a topic so we just decided to cut this episode as Life Updates. Unfortunately we had a slew of technical issues which meant we recorded way way too much audio and needed to edit this way down and it took a while to get what we wanted it out of it. Barb went to Fantastic Fest for a dizzying number of days to watch a dizzying quantity of movies. Her biggest take away is that she's not as afraid of Horror movies as she thought she was so Jim digs deep into her psyche to try and figure out why if she likes some horror movies that she has let so much past emotional baggage get in the way of enjoying classic films. Jim also gives Barb some homework, and Barb doesn't like homework. Other Topics Include: • Spoopy Season • Actually Working From Home • Jim's October Plans • Why Fantastic Fest? We knew that after recording our episode on Family Vacations that our parents would want to give their input on the stories that we attempted to tell so Barb went on location to record their live responses. People tell you to never go into show business with pets or kids but they never warn you against doing things with your own parents. What happens when Jim is in charge of editing and publishing an episode of the Podcast instead of Barb? Well it comes out pretty quickly after recording that's for sure. Barb started to wade into the murky waters of watching The Bachelor so we talk about why she made the choice and what lies ahead for her in this life changing decision. Apparently Bachelor in Paradise is a gateway drug because it hooked Barb very quickly and she's already a super-fan. Nothing makes memories like smashing your family into a mini van and driving across several states to go see some old rocks or whatever. WARNING: BARB'S AUDIO IS TERRIBLE IN THIS EPISODE! I don't want to really get into it, but it's not good for a number of reasons but I didn't want to throw out the baby with the bathwater so you get what you get and you don't throw a fit. Next episode Barb will apologize profusely for her misdeeds. Stay tuned for that. But... this episode we talked about Texas and rated it on a 5-star scale? Welcome to the first episode (maybe our only episode?) of the podcast that we pulled together last minute because Barb was bored on a Friday night. Barb's microphone isn't great and she's sitting in a chair that makes clunking noises sometimes (all audio quality issues should be addressed to her). This episode isn't sponsored by HON but it may as well be. If you want to get a chair for your home office it is the only brand that Jim feels are always the best value for your money. If you know how the Schwan's food delivery service works you should find us and tell us because we don't know how it works. We don't have any social media accounts so whatever. If you know us you know how to find us.
