Michael #1: Backup Docker volumes locally or to any S3 Via Bryan Weber (thanks Bryan!), who spotted it over on Virtualization HowTo. Find Bryan at bryanwweber.com. offen/docker-volume-backup is a lightweight companion container that backs up the volumes your apps actually depend on, then ships them somewhere safe. It's tiny: written in Go and about 25MB compressed, roughly 1/20th the size of the shell-based image (jareware/docker-volume-backup) that inspired it. Drop it into your docker compose file as a backup service, mount the volumes you care about as read-only, and you're off. Push backups to a pile of destinations: a local directory, plus any S3, WebDAV, Azure Blob Storage, Dropbox, Google Drive, or SSH-compatible target. Mix and match as many as you want in one run. Recurring cron-style backups in a Compose setup, or one-off backups straight from the Docker CLI. Production-friendly touches worth calling out: Rotates away old backups so you don't quietly fill the disk. GPG encryption for your archives. Notifications on finished and failed runs (so you find out about failures before you need the backup). Stop a container during backup for a consistent snapshot using a simple docker-volume-backup.stop-during-backup=true label, then auto-restart it. Run custom commands during the backup lifecycle (great for a database dump before the file copy). Docker Swarm support, plus arm64 and arm/v7 builds. Hello, Raspberry Pi homelab. Fun aside from Bryan: he searched our back catalog for this tool and the search came back so fast he thought it hadn't run. Love to hear it. Calvin #2: Pyodide 314.0 Release PEP 783 is the real news — Pyodide maintainers used to hand-build 300+ packages. Now anyone can publish Pyodide wheels to PyPI with cibuildwheel. The version jump from 0.29 to 314.0 is intentional — it now tracks the Python version, so 314.x = Python 3.14. Binary compatibility is locked per Python cycle, meaning packages you build today won't break on the next Pyodide release. sqlite3, ssl, and lzma are back in the default stdlib — no more await pyodide.loadPackage("sqlite3"). Bigger download, but a much smoother experience for newcomers. bigint precision bug is fixed — values above 2^53 were silently losing precision when crossing the Python/JS boundary. The new JsBigInt type makes the roundtrip correct. Worth flagging if anyone is doing numeric work in a browser app. Experimental TCP sockets in Node.js — you can now connect Pyodide to a real database (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis tested) when running server-side. Blurs the line between "Python in the browser" and "Python runtime anywhere Wasm runs." Michael #3: nb-cli: A Command-Line Interface for AI Agents and Notebook Automation From Piyush Jain (Jupyter and LangChain maintainer) on the Jupyter blog: nb-cli: A Command-Line Interface for AI Agents and Notebook Automation. nb-cli is an experimental, Rust-based CLI to read, write, execute, and search Jupyter notebooks. The premise: agents are great at CLIs but terrible at hand-editing the nested JSON in an .ipynb, so let them operate on the notebook from the outside instead of running inside it. Works with or without a Jupyter server. No server? It reads/writes .ipynb files directly and talks to kernels over ZeroMQ. Connected to a live JupyterLab, your edits show up instantly via Y.js (the same CRDT Jupyter uses). Smart output format: instead of token-heavy JSON or ambiguous plain markdown, it uses @@cell / @@output sentinels with inline metadata. Less wasted context, unambiguous structure, and it degrades gracefully on truncation. The payoff is composability. "Add a summary section and run it" becomes one shell pipeline instead of six agent tool calls. And nb search notebook.ipynb --with-errors returns only the failing cells, so the agent skips the cells that worked. Claude Code tie-in: it ships as an agent skill. npx skills install jupyter-ai-contrib/nb-cli and your agent can drive notebooks via nb. Out of jupyter-ai-contrib, which aims to become an official Jupyter AI subproject. Still early (crates.io is at v0.0.5), so kick the tires before anything load-bearing. See also marimo-pair. Calvin #4: Hindsight Agent Memory That Learns AI agents forget everything between sessions — Hindsight gives them persistent memory that learns over time Simple three-method API: retain(), recall(), reflect() — store, retrieve, and reason over memories TEMPR retrieval runs semantic, keyword, graph, and temporal search in parallel for accurate results Automatically consolidates related facts into durable observations instead of piling up duplicates pip install hindsight-all runs the entire server in-process; integrates with LangChain, LlamaIndex, Pydantic AI, CrewAI, and more Extras Calvin: Clanker: A Word For The Machine **Ponytail — You know him. As we conclude our Sacred Community series, we're left with an important question: What have we actually done with everything we've learned? It's easy to come to church, hear a powerful message, take a few notes, and then let the busyness of life crowd it all out by Monday morning. But God's desire was never for His Word to simply inspire us. His desire is that it transforms us.The early church understood something that modern culture has forgotten. Acts 2:46 tells us that daily they met together in the temple courts and in one another's homes. They celebrated communion, shared meals, and lived life together with joyful hearts and humble spirits. Their faith wasn't confined to a church service. It was woven into their everyday relationships.Today we live in a world that is more connected digitally than ever before, yet more disconnected relationally than perhaps any generation before us. Screens have replaced conversations. Notifications have replaced eye contact. Entertainment has replaced intimacy. We can spend hours scrolling through other people's lives while feeling increasingly isolated in our own.God is calling His Church back to something deeper.Sacred community cannot thrive in isolation. Spiritual maturity doesn't happen apart from relationships. God uses people to sharpen us, challenge us, encourage us, and help us grow. The enemy understands this, which is why he works so hard to isolate believers. Isolation feels safe, but it slowly disconnects us from one of God's greatest tools for growth and healing: each other.Throughout Scripture, tables are significant places. From Abraham sharing a meal with God, to Jesus dining with sinners, to the Last Supper, to the disciples recognizing the risen Christ at the Emmaus table, God repeatedly uses meals and conversations around tables to reveal Himself, build relationships, and transform lives.Jesus did much of His discipleship around tables. He taught, challenged, restored, encouraged, and revealed truth while sharing meals with people. The table wasn't just furniture. It became a place of ministry.Somewhere along the way, many homes traded dining room tables for TV trays. Family conversations gave way to screens and distractions. Vulnerability was replaced with busyness. We stopped making room for one another.Yet many of us can remember a time when tables were the heart of the home. Meals were shared. Stories were told. Prayers were offered. Struggles were discussed. Faith was modeled. Relationships were built. Those moments shaped lives in ways we often don't realize until years later. The call today is simple: Build tables again. Not necessarily more Bible studies. Not another church program. Not another event to attend.Build tables of fellowship.Open your homes. Invite people in. Share meals. Have conversations. Talk about what God is doing. Ask questions. Pray together. Laugh together. Cry together. Walk through life together. The Church gathers in the big house on Sundays, but the work of discipleship often happens in the little houses throughout the week.God is looking for people who will intentionally create spaces where weary people can find rest, broken people can find healing, and believers can encourage one another toward maturity in Christ. The dining room table can become an altar again. The table is where friendships deepen. The table is where faith becomes personal. The table is where generations are shaped. The table is where Jesus often reveals Himself. In a culture of distraction, the table is an invitation back to presence.Maybe the next move of God isn't found in bigger buildings or better programs. Maybe it starts with believers pulling up a few extra chairs, sharing a meal, and making room for one more person at the table. Thanks for joining us for a weekly message from DuBois Light & Life Church. History & Evolution: Discover how Random Forests evolved from the Classification and Regression Trees (CART) introduced in 1984, and how the Random Subspace Method was pioneered by Tin Kam Ho in 1995. We explain how Leo Breiman combined bagging (bootstrap aggregating) and random feature selection to create this powerful ensemble model in 2001.How it Works: Learn how multiple decision trees vote to make a single, reliable prediction. We explain how this method effectively reduces the high variance (overfitting) commonly seen in individual deep decision trees.Random Forest vs. Gradient Boosting: We compare Random Forests (which build trees in parallel to reduce variance) with Gradient Boosting (which builds trees sequentially to reduce bias) to help you decide which algorithm fits your project best.Feature Importance Explained: Understand the crucial difference between the default Mean Decrease in Impurity (MDI / Gini Importance) and Permutation Feature Importance. Find out why MDI can be heavily biased toward high-cardinality continuous features, and why permutation importance often provides a more reliable and robust metric on unseen data.Hyperparameter Tuning: See how to optimize your model using scikit-learn parameters like n_estimators, max_depth, min_samples_split, and max_features using Random Search methods.Extrapolation Limitations: We explore a major limitation of tree-based models—their strict inability to extrapolate outside the range of their training data—and discuss modern statistical solutions like the progression method.Real-World Applications: Explore practical use cases, from land cover classification using QGIS and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, to high-dimensional genomic data analysis, and financial risk prediction. If you find this video helpful, please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and turn on NOTIFICATIONS for more machine learning tutorials! https://heysammi.com/coaches Is the Best Sports Management App No App at All? Coaches don't lose parents because they “don't care.” They lose them because families are drowning in platforms, notifications, and logins. This episode breaks down the real reason team apps stop working by mid-season—and why Sammi was built around the one thing parents always read: text messages. Sammi is designed to handle roster, schedules, payments, and parent communication entirely through SMS, with no downloads and no logins. You post the schedule… and still get “What time is practice?” You update the app… and end up texting anyway You request RSVPs… and they show up late or not at all Parents say “I didn't see it” and they're not lying—your message got buried This isn't a “parent problem.” It's an attention problem. Most sports families are managing multiple sports, multiple teams, plus league and tournament info across different platforms. Notifications get muted, apps get buried, and parents default to whatever is already open on their phone: text. Sammi's entire “no app” idea is built around this reality: “parents do not want another app” and coaches end up texting anyway. Sammi isn't a “better app.” It's a team assistant by text. For coaches: Text Sammi what you need (schedule changes, reminders, RSVPs, payments) and she does the admin work. For parents: They receive a text, reply to a text, and their calendars stay synced (Google, Outlook, iCal). Key promise: “Coach more. Manage less. Have you ever noticed how easy it is to slowly drift from the things that matter most? Not all at once. Not through some massive decision. Just little by little. Life gets busy. Work gets demanding. Schedules fill up. Notifications never stop. And before we realize it, we can feel disconnected from God, disconnected from our purpose, even disconnected from ourselves. The scary part is that most people do not intentionally walk away from God. They slowly drift through distraction and compromise. As we look at the story of Samson, we are going to discover something incredibly important: God has given every one of us a calling, but our calling requires connection. Think you have a focus problem? You don't. But you may have an input problem. Lights. Notifications. Noise. Expectations. Pressure. Boardroom tension. Stadium chaos. Internal chatter you don't admit out loud. And the default solution? "Lock in harder." Mental performance expert, Dr. Lowell Wightman, joins J.R. on the Coming Up Clutch with J.R.™ show to challenge one of the biggest misconceptions in high performance: Distraction isn't always a discipline issue. It's often overstimulation. Dr. Wightman shares practical tools he uses with professional athletes, executives, and high-pressure teams to help them reset, recalibrate, and regain control of their environment (instead of being quietly diminished by it). If you've been feeling slightly "off"…or heavy. …or out of rhythm. Not burned out, just not sharp… This conversation may expose why. In this episode, you'll hear: Why awareness (not talent) is the true starting point of elite performance How your five senses quietly shape your focus, confidence, and execution The biggest misconception athletes and leaders have about motivation Why motivation isn't hype How to reset under pressure instead of getting overstimulated or distracted Why you have more environmental and psychological control than you think KEY QUOTES "If you're not aware of what's coming, it's hard to generate the skill of engaging your body and mind in a connection that's going to be able to deal with what's coming at you." https://youtu.be/q9bs_jArVQ0?si=1R8u6nN7BVUDCw-m Welcome to week 4 of 30 Days of Purpose. And today is Pentecost Sunday. Pentecost Sunday 50 days after Crucifixion/Passover Acts 2 – The Holy Spirit is poured out Power for world-wide witness The Spirit came with power. But the power was not random, or goosebump feels. In Acts 1 the resurrected Jesus makes His followers a promise. Jesus has defeated death. Jesus has risen from the grave. Jesus is preparing His followers for what comes next. And He says in Acts 1:8: Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” Power for what? To be witnesses. Power for mission. Power for purpose. The resurrected Jesus promises power, but He also gives purpose. And that matters because sometimes we ask God for more power, but we have not discovered or surrendered to His purpose. We want God to move. We want Him to strengthen us. We want Him to help us. We want Him to open doors. But if we are honest, we still let distractions lead. That is not just a time management problem. That is a purpose problem. Stephen Covey popularized an idea called the Time Management Matrix. It separates life into what is urgent and what is important. Urgent means it demands attention now. Important means it actually matters. Notice… Important & Urgent Important but NOT Urgent Urgent but NOT Important NOT urgent & NOT Important Here is what I want us to focus on. A lot of the things that matter most are important, but they are not urgent. Your kids are important, but they may not feel urgent until there is a crisis. Your marriage is important, but it may not feel urgent until distance has already grown. Your prayer life is important, but it may not feel urgent until your soul is running on empty. Your health is important, but it may not feel urgent until your body starts breaking down. Your purpose is important, but it may not feel urgent until you wake up one day wondering what your life has been about. Important things rarely scream.Urgent things always scream. Your phone screams. Drama screams. Deadlines scream. Notifications scream. Other people's expectations scream. But God often whispers. Your soul whispers. Your family whispers. Your body whispers. Your calling whispers. Your purpose whispers. And if you only respond to what screams, you will miss what God is whispering. And that is why I am calling today's message: Busy… but Not Building Anything. There is a difference between having a full schedule and building a faithful life. There is a difference between doing a lot and doing what matters. There is a difference between being tired because you were faithful and being tired because you were distracted. If you do not define what matters, urgency will define your life for you. And God has a lot to say about this.Let's look at Nehemiah 6. Nehemiah knew what mattered.Nehemiah 6:1-4 Nehemiah was a Jewish man living far from Jerusalem, serving as cupbearer to the king of Persia. That might sound like a nice royal job, but a cupbearer was basically a poison detector. He tasted the king's wine before the king drank it. So Nehemiah did not start with a dream job. He did not start in a perfect situation. He was living under a foreign empire, working close to power, but still carrying a lot of pain. One day, Nehemiah heard that Jerusalem was in trouble. The wall was broken down. The gates had been burned. The people were vulnerable. And something broke inside him. He cried. He prayed. He fasted. He asked God for favor. And eventually, God opened the door for him to go back and rebuild the wall. But this was not just a wall. It was restoration.Protection.Identity. Purpose. Nehemiah knew what mattered. And if you have ever felt like God put purpose in you, but you can never find the time to build it, pay attention to Nehemiah. In Nehemiah 6, the wall is almost finished. No gaps are left. Something terribly destructive happens… He gets a note from surrounding leaders who opposed the work send Nehemiah a message… Read these terrible words… Nehemiah 6:2“Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” Doesn't seem terrible or destructive. Seems friendly and neighborly. They request a meeting. It sounds harmless. Just a meeting. Just a conversation. Just come down for a minute. Nehemiah says they were scheming to harm him. …but I don't even want to focus on that… I want to point out this… They wanted him to stop what was important and busy himself with something that was urgent but not important. Do you see this? This is more destructive than you realize. They invite him to Ono, and Nehemiah basically says: “Oh no.” I am not coming down. When the urgent tries to steal the important we need to say Oh no. When distraction tries to interrupt obedience Oh no. When people pressure you into something God did not assign you… Oh no. Here is how Nehemiah responded. Nehemiah 6:3“I am carrying on a great project and cannot go down.” Nehemiah knew what mattered. He knew what he was building. He knew the work would stop if he came down. So he refused. Not every invitation is an assignment. Not every opportunity is your opportunity. Not every urgent request deserves your yes. Not every good thing is a God thing. When you know what matters, you can recognize distraction. I am doing something important! And I can't meet with you at this time. Nehemiah 6:4“Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer.” How many times? Four times. The distraction came back. The pressure came back. The invitation came back. Important work is not just about one big decision. Important work is about repeated obedience. Distraction is repetitive, so obedience must become repetitive. The habit was not just building the wall. The habit was also refusing to be distracted. The apostle Paul says like this in Ephesians 5: Ephesians 5:15-16“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Be careful how you live. Your time matters. Your attention matters. Your yes matters. Your no matters. Your wall matters. So let's make this practical. What is your wall? Nehemiah had a wall. What is yours? What is the good work God has put in front of you in this season? Not your whole life. Not ten years from now. This season. What matters right now? Your walk with Jesus?Your family?Your marriage?Your kids?Your health?Your calling?Your recovery? Your serving?Your peace?Your obedience? Call to Action: Don't Let Urgent Steal Important Today, I want you to take three steps. If you do not name what matters, urgency will name it for you. 1. Write it.I'm building ______, so I will not come down for ______. Pray over that answer. Do not just write something down. Ask God, “Is this what You are calling me to build?” Then keep it somewhere you will see it. Put it on your mirror.Put it in your Bible.Put it on your dashboard.Remind yourself of your purpose. 2. Start a conversation about your calling. (fill out a Connection Card) Use your connection card to start a conversation. Give us your prayer request.Learn more about your next step. Turn that card in today. 3. Come pray. Prayer is important. But a lot of us only pray when it becomes urgent. Today, make prayer important before life makes it urgent. If you need God to show you what matters, come pray. If urgency has been running your life, come pray. If you know what matters but need strength to stay faithful, come pray. We have people ready to pray with you. The resurrected Jesus promised power for purpose. Come pray and ask the Holy Spirit for power to build what matters.

The season is over. The Magic took Detroit to seven games as the eighth seed (with a 3:1 lead by game 4 before it all fell apart) and we're here to pick through the wreckage. Gary takes us through the latest news. Geraint is back from Orlando with stories from the Kia Center, Casey's bar, and the emotional rollercoaster of watching a 24-point lead evaporate in person. Drum delivers the blue sky thinking on a Game 6 where Paolo went 4-for-20 and the team scored 19 points in an entire second half, and somehow still finds reasons for hope. Mickey makes his long-awaited return to the pod as we get into the big one — Mosley's gone, Weltman's staying, so who's next? We go round the table with our top coaching picks, from Billy Donovan and Steve Kerr to Mike Budenholzer, Micah Nori, Chris Quinn, Becky Hammon and even a Dusty May curveball. Plus, what Paolo's role should be in the process, whether Weltman can nail the hire for a third time, and what this roster actually needs to take the next step. If your to-do list is 47 items long, your Slack won't shut up, and you ended the day thinking, "Cool… but what did I actually accomplish?"—welcome. You're among friends. In this episode, Kim and Kate take on the very real, very unsexy side of project management: figuring out how to manage your own work when everything (and everyone) is demanding your attention. This isn't about finding the perfect tool or building a prettier dashboard. It's about surviving—and actually functioning—in an interrupt-driven world where emails breed overnight, notifications multiply, and every task somehow feels urgent. They get into what actually works: setting a North Star for your week (yes, only a few priorities), getting tasks out of your brain before they haunt you at 10 PM, and why some tasks are secretly just traps that create even more work (looking at you, boomerang tasks). Also: a gentle reality check—you're not supposed to do everything. Grab a drink, ignore your inbox for a bit, and let's figure out how to organize the chaos without losing your mind.

Make a Logo on Fiverr The Carbinox Edge is a durable smartwatch built for people who work, travel, hike, build, sweat and occasionally put their gear through situations most wearables would never survive. In this first look, the Carbinox Edge gets unboxed, paired, tested and then frozen inside a block of ice for one of the most extreme smartwatch durability tests I have ever done. A Rugged Smartwatch Built for Real Abuse The Carbinox Edge comes across as a smartwatch made for rougher environments. It features a stainless steel body, Gorilla Glass, IP69K protection, 5 ATM water resistance and a 1.96-inch AMOLED display. It is designed for users who want something tougher than a basic fitness watch, especially if they work on construction sites, spend time outdoors or simply want a watch that can handle more abuse than a typical smartwatch. The watch also includes dual-band GNSS with six tracking systems, which means it can track location without relying only on your phone. That could be useful for hiking, job sites, emergency situations or anywhere phone-free tracking matters. What Comes in the Box Inside the box, the Carbinox Edge includes the watch body, a band, a manual, a USB-C charging cable and a proprietary charging base. The charging dock is magnetic and connects to the back of the watch using two contact points. The included band uses quick-release pins, making it easier to attach or swap out. That is a nice touch if you want to change bands or replace one after heavy use. Setup and App Pairing Pairing the Carbinox Edge is straightforward. After powering on the watch, the setup process asks for a language selection and displays a QR code for app pairing. The watch connects through the Carbinox Max app, and once paired, it can show notifications, weather, fitness data, health tracking, watch settings and firmware updates. The watch works with both iPhone and Android devices. During setup, it connected quickly over Bluetooth and displayed battery level, GPS satellite data and watch face options through the app. Display, Battery and Features The Carbinox Edge has a 410-by-502 resolution AMOLED display with 331 PPI and up to 1,000 nits of brightness. That should make it easier to read indoors and outdoors. Battery life is one of the biggest selling points. The watch has a 500 mAh battery, with Carbinox claiming up to 25 days depending on use. In the test, the watch still had plenty of battery before being frozen, and after being removed from the ice, it still powered back on and reconnected. Health and utility features include heart rate, SpO2, sleep, stress, mood, activity tracking, workouts, weather, calls, alarms, music controls and notifications. The Extreme Ice Test Instead of simply scratching the screen, hitting it with a hammer or running it over, this test took a different approach. The Carbinox Edge was frozen inside a block of ice for 24 hours. The idea was to simulate an extreme situation where the watch might be buried, frozen or stuck in a harsh environment. After about 12 to 14 hours, the watch stopped responding to the phone while still frozen. But once it was chipped out of the ice, it powered back on, showed the correct time and reconnected to the phone. Even while wet, the touchscreen still responded. The buttons continued working, and the display showed no visible scratches after additional scraping and impact testing. What Worked Well The biggest win is durability. The Carbinox Edge survived being frozen in ice for a full day, then came back to life after being removed. The screen held up well, the buttons still worked and the watch remained usable even while wet. The long battery life is also a major plus. A durable smartwatch is only useful if it can stay powered long enough to matter, and the Carbinox Edge appears built with that in mind. The display is bright, the body feels rugged and the quick-release band system makes it easier to manage than older watch designs. A Few Issues to Watch There were a couple of issues during use. When traveling to Las Vegas, the phone updated to the new time zone, but the watch did not update until the Carbinox app was opened. That could likely be fixed in a firmware update. Notifications were another concern. The watch did not clearly separate text messages from other app notifications, activity alerts or reminders. Turning off unwanted notifications also affected text alerts. Again, this feels like something that could improve through software updates. Final First Look The Carbinox Edge is an extreme smartwatch for people who need more than basic fitness tracking. It is rugged, bright, long-lasting and surprisingly tough. Freezing it in a block of ice for 24 hours did stop it from responding temporarily, but once it came out, it powered back on and kept working. For anyone looking for a durable smartwatch that can handle harsh conditions, the Carbinox Edge makes a strong first impression. Drawing from 2 Peter 1:12-21, this message explores why we are prone to "leaking" the Gospel and why we must intentionally surround ourselves with reminders of God's truth. Because memory is fragile, we are called to constantly return to the sure, prophetic word of Scripture to anchor our hearts in the love and finished work of Jesus Christ.

The jump from high school to college is bigger than most families realize. In this conversation, I talk with Dr. Tara Williams about what neurodivergent students really need as they prepare for college and why so many of them struggle in that transition. We unpack the shift from high school supports to college systems, where students are suddenly expected to manage accommodations, communicate with professors, understand FERPA, and advocate for themselves in a much more independent way. Tara explains why waiting until the summer before college can create unnecessary stress, and why self-advocacy has to start getting practiced much earlier. We also talk about executive functioning in real life, not as a buzzword, but as the day to day challenge of keeping up with emails, assignments, schedules, accommodations, and decisions. Tara shares practical tools for helping students build those skills, along with a powerful reminder that college success is not just about getting into the "right" major or pushing through what is not working. Sometimes the real win is helping a student find the path that actually fits how they learn, think, and thrive. Key Takeaways College accommodations work very differently from high school supports. Students are expected to initiate the process, submit documentation, schedule meetings, and communicate with professors themselves. The summer before college is already a high pressure time to begin. Families need to know that accommodation offices may book far in advance, and waiting too long can mean starting the semester without support. Self-advocacy needs to be practiced before college. Students can start by emailing teachers, asking about missed work, and learning how to communicate their needs while still in middle school or high school. Executive functioning support is not one skill. It includes calendars, planning, batching tasks, reminders, follow through, and figuring out what systems a student will actually use. Parents may need support building these systems too. Many adults are trying to help their child with tools they were never taught themselves. A good system has to fit the person. Google Calendars, Post-its, color coding, batching emails, and breaking tasks down can all work, but only if the student will actually use them. Technology makes sustained attention harder for everyone. Notifications, learning platforms, email, and constant digital access all increase cognitive load for students and adults alike. Accommodations should be available even if a student does not use them every time. Signing up matters. The student can decide when they need the support. Sometimes the issue is not just skill, but fit. A student may be in the wrong major, the wrong course path, or a program chosen for them rather than with them. College success is often about redirection, not failure. Finding a path that matches a student's real strengths and interests can change everything. About Dr. Tara Williams Dr. Tara Williams is the owner and founder of Innovative Collegiate Consultants, Inc. She earned her PhD in Synthetic Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Sussex in Falmer, United Kingdom, and is currently a tenured professor at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California, where she has taught for the past twenty years. Since 2010, she has worked with neurodivergent students across the United States after noticing how many were struggling with the transition from K-12 support systems to college environments that require far more self-advocacy. Dr. Williams and her team specialize in executive functioning coaching with a strong academic focus, supporting students with accommodations, course planning, email and LMS management, housing, internships, jobs, and more. Her work helps neurodivergent and neurotypical students build confidence, advocate for themselves, and thrive in school and college. Stress Is Quietly Wrecking Your MetabolismWhy Overstimulation Is Sabotaging Your Fat Loss, Hormones, and EnergyThe Thrive Forever Fit Show with Jay NixonYou are not just stressed. You are overstimulated. And your nervous system was never designed for the world you're living in right now.In this episode, Jay breaks down one of the most overlooked drivers of stalled fat loss, hormone disruption, poor sleep, and frustrating lab results: chronic stress from modern overstimulation. This is not about politics. This is not about sides. This is about biology.Your brain cannot tell the difference between a real physical threat and a screen-based emotional trigger.Your body responds the same way.Your nervous system was built for short bursts of stress.A predator.A survival event.A temporary threat.Stress would spike.Cortisol would rise.Adrenaline would increase. Then it would shut off. That was healthy stress. What we live in now is constant stimulation.Notifications.Breaking news.Social media comparison.Emails at night.Financial headlines.Endless scrolling.Your brain never powers down. And when your brain never powers down, your metabolism never feels safe. When stress is constant:• Cortisol stays elevated• Blood sugar stays elevated• Insulin stays elevated• Inflammation rises• Sleep quality drops• Thyroid output can slow• Sex hormones can downshiftAnd then you ask:“Why can't I lose weight?”Because your body does not prioritize fat loss when it feels unsafe. It prioritizes survival.Threatened bodies store energy.Even if you are physically sitting still, high-intensity content activates your nervous system.Heart rate shifts.Stress hormones rise.Inflammatory pathways activate.Stack that multiple times per day, over months and years, and you create a body that is constantly bracing.Braced bodies:• Don't recover well• Don't burn efficiently• Crave quick energy• Struggle to sleep deeplyAnd then we blame food.Chronic stress can influence:• Fasting glucose• Triglycerides• HDL• Abdominal fat storage• Thyroid conversion• Progesterone and testosterone levels• CRP and inflammatory markersYou can eat perfectly and still stall if stress remains high. That is how powerful this is.If your nervous system does not feel safe, your metabolism will not feel efficient. This is why some people see massive improvements simply by improving sleep, reducing stress exposure, or creating more recovery. The body finally receives the signal that it is safe. You cannot control the world. But you can control what you repeatedly allow into your nervous system. You are not just what you eat.You are what you repeatedly consume mentally and emotionally.Your metabolism listens to all of it.In this episode, Jay explains why you cannot out-eat or out-train chronic stress, and why true metabolic health requires nervous system regulation, not just calorie control. If you've been tired but wired, waking at 3am, craving sugar at night, or plateaued despite effort, this episode will change how you see stress forever.Because once you understand this, you stop chasing food solutions for stress-driven problems. And that's where real metabolic mastery begins.

We're joined by special guests Yadi and Cortez Paul as the Magic head into the Play-In. We break down the regular season finale debacle to Boston — Paolo's triple-double that somehow still felt frustrating and Suggs catching fire from three... and why none of that mattered. We discuss what that game told us about where this team really is. The conversation gets honest fast: effort levels, communication breakdowns, and whether the bad losses this season point to deeper organisational problems. We dig into the coaching situation, what's gone wrong with player effort and team identity, and whether changes are coming this offseason. The core comes under the microscope too — who stays, who could be moved, and what this roster actually needs. Plus, Yadi and Cortez share highlights from the London trip. “Staff Talks with Francis” is a new series where we share real moments from our Crazy Love staff meetings - honest conversations about following Jesus, caring for the church, and discerning God's voice in the middle of everyday ministry. Are you constantly checking your phone… without even thinking about it? Scrolling. Notifications. Endless updates. In a world full of distractions, many of us are quietly losing our focus - and even our ability to be fully present. Along with it comes a subtle pressure to keep up with everything: news, controversies, messages, and the constant stream of information that leaves us feeling like we can't afford to miss anything. But what if the real danger isn't missing what's happening in the world… but missing what God wants to say to us? In this episode, Francis Chan shares what the Lord impressed on him during a long trip home from Brazil, wrestling with distraction, the fear of missing out, and the deeper invitation into silence and presence. This conversation is both practical and convicting - challenging us to set boundaries with our screen time, embrace uninterrupted time with Jesus, and live with greater intentionality. As we learn to be still, look people in the eyes, and pursue God's presence, we begin to experience deeper connection, clearer purpose, and a love that truly reflects His heart.
Hey Voices from the Bench community! Jessica Love here, sending a shoutout from Utah! If you're passionate about creating natural, beautiful smiles—but want to simplify your workflow without sacrificing aesthetics—this is for you. Create stunning depth and lifelike color in as little as one firing. Let's continue to innovate, simplify, and create meaningful change—one smile at a time. When it comes to digital dentures, design is easy—manufacturing is where things get messy. That's why the Elevate Denture Solution brings it all together. Built by Roland DGSHAPE, Ivoclar, and FOLLOW-ME! Technology Group, it combines machine, materials, and CAM into one fully optimized workflow—so you get consistent, high-quality results without the guesswork. Want to simplify production and scale with confidence? Check it out at rollanddga.com/elevate. "Live" from the Ivoclar ballroom at Lab Day 2026, Elvis and Barb dives into conversations that perfectly capture what this industry is all about—innovation, relationships, and a whole lot of nerding out. We kick things off with Frederic Rapp, who went from growing up in his dad's basement lab in France to scaling it into one of the largest labs in Europe. After selling the business, he found his way back into the industry through innovation—helping labs unlock the gold mine sitting inside their own data with icortica. From dashboards to AI-driven insights and even voice-activated notes in the parking lot, it's all about working smarter, not harder… and maybe not looking like an idiot when you walk into a doctor's office. Then things shift to a great partnership with Casey Baldwin and Darin Lockaby, where we get into a seriously cool collaboration between Ivoclar and DESS. Think plug-and-play workflows that let labs mill their own abutments in-house—FDA compliant, streamlined, and actually simple. With margins tighter than ever, this kind of control over production isn't just nice… it's becoming necessary. From scaling labs to scaling data, from implants to AI, this episode is packed with insight, laughs, and a clear message: the labs that embrace technology (without losing the human touch) are the ones that are going to win.
