What if one of the greatest gifts you could give your child wasn't protection—but the confidence to solve hard problems on their own?In this episode of High Performance Parenting, Greg and Jacquie Francis introduce one of the most important concepts parents can teach: high agency.Instead of raising children who blame circumstances or wait for someone else to fix things, learn how to raise kids who take ownership, solve problems, and confidently move forward. In this episode you'll discover:What high agency really meansWhy rescuing children can unintentionally create dependencyTeaching kids to own their mistakesHelping children solve problems instead of making excusesBuilding responsibility through everyday situationsWhy natural consequences create confident adultsRaising children with biblical ownership and personal responsibilityYour goal isn't simply to raise good kids. It's to raise adults who love God, take ownership, serve others, and make the world better.

In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts that have been on my mind: from parenting in the age of social media to why protecting children online should be a priority.I talk about influencer culture, the importance of children's consent and privacy, and what our actions teach kids when they do NOT match the values we say we have. I also discuss the reality of online predators, why I believe parents need to be more aware of the content they share, and why these conversations matter now more than ever.I also share my personal perspective on some public discussions surrounding Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota, including their actions that left me with questions. To lighten things up, I catch you up on life lately, share a few funny stories, and explain why I have been watching a lot less TV.Whether you are a parent, single and childless, enjoy conversations about social media and influencer culture, or just want to hang out for an honest chat, I hope you will join me! Send us Fan MailGrief doesn't stay in your heart, it lives in your calendar, your routines, and even the rooms you walk through every day. We're back on Coffee With a Twist with a raw life update on why we went quiet for a few weeks and what it's like returning after saying goodbye to Layla, our 19-year-old dog. We talk honestly about how a pet can be family, how death can bring up older losses, and why those memories can feel both comforting and heavy at the same time. We also share the practical side of healing: redoing the basement space that used to be hers, changing the environment so it doesn't look exactly like the version we're stuck replaying in our heads. If you've ever tried to “push through” grief while still parenting, working, and keeping the house running, you'll recognize this balancing act. We're also looking ahead to a small out-of-town break, because sometimes rest is not a luxury, it's maintenance. On the rebuild side, we get into what's helping us regain momentum right now: a weekend AI course that's stretching our brain in a good way, plus a more consistent gym routine with Zumba and step aerobics. We keep the nutrition talk realistic too, focusing on eating earlier, adding more vegetables, and learning to stop at satisfied instead of overly full. We wrap with what's coming next, including a 60 to 90 day Tesla update, and ways you can connect with us directly. If you enjoyed the honesty and want more episodes like this, subscribe, share Coffee With a Twist with a friend, leave a review, and send us a note through fan mail. Steph recaps a May 2 Disneyland office trip with coworkers, her boss, and family. The group rope drops Disneyland, they fail to secure Lamplight or Carthay and eat in San Fransokyo Square for lunch, but had Dinner success eating at Jazz Kitchen. Steph ends the night with Star Tours as the Rebel spy, then closes the park with Martin after a confusing, non-spinning Roger Rabbit and a final Runaway Railway. She comments on harsh online reactions to the new Pirates of the Caribbean animatronic, urging constructive criticism, and notes DL Weekly cohost Tag Bushman leaving after eight years. Jann, Caitlin & Sarah catch up about Caitlin's search for a new home, summer activities in Iceland, and the excitement surrounding the World Cup. Caitlin fills us in about the ranch dressing craze among European soccer fans, and the commercialization of the fan detested hydration breaks. Jann also invites app developer Travis Weniger to discuss his app, Memento Mori. It predicts life expectancy based on various health metrics while blending the philosophies of stoicism and longevity. The conversation delves into the importance of recognizing life's finiteness. Travis shares insights on how discussions about death can lead to a more fulfilling life, and the importance of balancing enjoyment with health-conscious choices. The conversation explores mortality, and the importance of living meaningfully. More About Travis Weninger: Travis Weninger is an independent product designer, developer, and writer based in Toronto. His work explores the intersection of technology, philosophy, and intentional living. After spending nearly a decade working in the tech industry, he left the corporate world to pursue his own path and founded socialdotgood, an independent software company focused on building thoughtful consumer products. Through socialdotgood, Travis has launched six apps, with Memento Mori being his most ambitious project to date. Inspired by Stoic philosophy and the ancient practice of reflecting on mortality, the app is a meditation on one's mortality paired with contemporary research on longevity. What if the reason tracking macros isn't working anymore has nothing to do with your discipline? In this episode, I break down one of the most common frustrations I hear from women: "I used to track macros, lose weight, and see results. Now I do the exact same thing and nothing happens.". I want to share the story of how I once believed macros were the magic solution to fat loss, only to realize they were never the answer. They were simply a tool. We'll talk about why there is no perfect macro split, how the body constantly adapts to what we do, and why staying on the same nutrition plan for months or years can actually become part of the problem. I explain how functional nutrition often involves strategically changing calories, carbohydrates, fats, and protein to stay ahead of those adaptations rather than fighting against them. You'll learn why there may be a time for low-carb eating, a time for higher calories, a time for lower protein, and a time for a more balanced approach. Most importantly, we'll discuss how understanding macros can still be incredibly valuable when they're used within the right context. Today, I personally track my macros, not to lose weight, but to make sure I'm eating enough and maintaining the right balance for my current season of life. If you've been wondering why your old nutrition strategy isn't producing the same results anymore, this episode will help you understand what changed and how to start working with your body instead of against it. States of Discovery is officially back, and Marisa and Sara are wasting no time catching up. After a behind-the-scenes hiatus, they're diving straight into what they've been up to, from a music festival in Salt Lake City to solo adventures in New York and LA. This episode covers the OIYS articles that have been turning heads lately, some genuinely great travel tips, and a big announcement about where the two are headed together at the end of June.Life Updates & Recent Travel:Sara is deeply invested in the 50 Best Sandwich Shops series (and yes, she knows how that sounds)Marisa shares why she can't stop thinking about Diablo Lake in Washington's North Cascades and the wild reason its water is that shade of turquoiseFrom a hidden omakase spot in New York to a J-pop festival in LA, Sara's solo trip itinerary will make you want to book a flight immediatelyMarisa makes a strong case for Salt Lake City, including an Evo Hotel with an indoor rock climbing gym, a dry sauna she didn't know about until check-in, and a laundromat connected to a pizza shopTimestamps:00:12 - Welcome back! The episode moves fast, from gushing over reader-nominated sandwich shops to trading notes on recent solo travels that each turned into something way more interesting than the original plan. Marisa's Salt Lake City trip is a great reminder that staying at the right hotel, being willing to do laundry in a new city, and just wandering with a color challenge can be its own kind of adventure. Sara's New York visit hit differently once a Marcel Duchamp exhibit led her straight into a fake Cold War fallout shelter. The episode closes on a genuinely exciting note: both hosts are heading to Fayetteville, Arkansas for a three-day Pride celebration, and they want listeners along for the ride.Stay tuned for the Fayetteville Pride episode dropping in early July. In this episode, Alex Quin and Michelle Chia return to the podcast after a brief hiatus to share personal and professional updates, discuss the realities of entrepreneurship, and break down the healthy habits that help them sustain long workdays without burning out. From sleep, exercise, nutrition, and stress management to setting boundaries, journaling, and personal growth, they offer practical insights for entrepreneurs looking to build successful businesses while protecting their health and well-being.Episode Outline:[00:00] Welcome Back and Life Updates[02:15] Agency Growth, New Clients, and New Books[04:20] Why We Chose Healthy Habits for Entrepreneurs[08:05] Sleep, Recovery, and Long-Term Performance[10:12] Taking Breaks, Walking, and Staying Active[12:25] Time Blocking and Productivity Systems[14:15] Setting Boundaries With Clients[16:05] Learning to Say No[17:35] WHOOP, Oura Ring, and Health Tracking[19:05] Michelle's Cortisol and Stress Story[21:40] Nutrition, Hydration, and Managing Stress[23:10] The Tarzan "Swinging Vines" Concept[25:05] Becoming Your 2.0 Self[26:40] Journaling, Books, and Personal Growth[27:50] Habits We're Trying to Change[28:40] Final Thoughts and Closing RemarksWisdom Nuggets:Sleep Is a Competitive Advantage: Entrepreneurs often treat sleep like a luxury instead of a necessity. Alex and Michelle remind us that better decisions, sharper focus, and sustainable growth all start with proper recovery. The goal isn't to work more hours—it's to make your hours more effective.Protect Your Energy: Being available 24/7 may feel like great customer service, but constant accessibility creates burnout. Setting healthy boundaries with clients, coworkers, and even family members allows you to show up at your best when it matters most.Track Your Health Like Your Business: Most entrepreneurs obsess over revenue, sales, and analytics while ignoring their own health metrics. Monitoring stress levels, sleep quality, blood work, and recovery can help identify issues early and improve long-term performance.Let Go to Level Up: Growth often requires releasing habits, relationships, or routines that no longer serve your future. Like Tarzan swinging from one vine to the next, you have to let go of the old before you can fully grab onto new opportunities.Become Your Next Version: Success isn't about staying the same person and hoping for different results. The habits, mindset, and behaviors that got you here may not be enough to get you where you want to go next. Continuous self-improvement is a requirement, not an option.Power Quotes"Your heart rhythm is a very important thing that people don't even pay attention to." - Alex Quin"It's okay to say no and it's okay to put yourself first." - Michelle ChiaConnect with Michelle:Instagram: (https://www.instagram.com/michellechia)Linkedin: (https://www.linkedin.com/in/michelle-chia1/)Connect With the Podcast Host Alex Quin:Instagram: (https://www.instagram.com/alexquin)Twitter: (https://twitter.com/mralexquin)LinkedIn: (https://www.linkedin.com/in/mralexquin)Website: (https://alexquin.com)TikTok: (https://www.tiktok.com/@mralexquin)Books Mentioned:Atomic Habits — James ClearThe Road Less Stupid — Keith J. In this episode, I'm catching you up on my day and everything that's been on my mind lately. And as if life wasn't busy enough, I'm also getting ready for my upcoming trip to Puerto Vallarta. Between travel planning, dating, work, and everyday responsibilities, I'm trying to find balance while still enjoying the moment.Don't forget to subscribe, like, and give me my 10s in the comments!X: @LNwithSylvesterEmail: LateNightwithSylvester@gmail.com

We're back!! Let's chat about what we've been up to and doing the Lord's work right where you are.
And we're back! I'm excited to share that I've passed my state licensing exam and am now officially a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist! In this catch-up solo episode, I share some professional and personal updates (including some exciting news!!). I reflect on the journey toward licensure, from grad school and practicum to the associate years. I also share my real-time experience navigating OCD-related thoughts while recording this episode and what it looks like to move through doubt when it shows up. I'm leaning into embracing the unknowns and allowing this next chapter to feel new, exciting, confusing, overwhelming, relieving - all at the same time.As always, I want to express gratitude to each and every one of you for being here along the ride. I can't wait for what's to come and to share with you all :) STAY CONNECTED:INSTA: @trustandthriveTIKOK: @trustandthriveEMAIL: trustandthrive@gmail.com

(Episode 338) Zoey and Amelia are back for the monthly numerology deep dive, and before we get into what May has in store, we're catching up on April first, because April had things to say. Amelia got her Mexican residency approved and realized her entire routine was built for a life she's already living, not the one she's building next. Zoey spent a week in New York watching her husband's best friend come out the other side of open heart surgery, spent much needed time with family, and came home still feeling the density of all of it in the best and heaviest way. As we look presently at May, we are entering a Collective month six, and six doesn't care how fiercely independent you are or how long you've been doing everything yourself. Six is going to sit you down and ask you about love, devotion, family, obligation, ancestry, and whether the way you've been showing up for everyone else is silently costing you something you haven't quite identified yet. This one is the numerology episode you didn't know you needed, but you're going to love! In this episode, Stef and I sit down for a real conversation about our family, faith, routine, and the season we're currently in right now. We reflect on the chaos and gift of parenting, why we've chosen to disconnect from social media on weekends, and how that decision is reshaping our presence, priorities, and creativity. It's as honest of a look that we can give at what we're building behind the scenes and the values guiding where we go next.CHAPTERS:00:00 Intro01:00 The Catch Up02:06 Weekend Social Media Fast07:42 Creativity and AI Fears15:20 Homeschooling and Time Back22:54 Morning Routine Overview25:03 Night Before Prep30:32 Early Wake and Workouts37:24 Baby Three?45:36 Fitness Reset54:11 Our Current Faith/Life Direction01:03:42 Vision for Stef's Studio01:16:36 Parenting Season ReflectionsORDER MY BOOK HERE: https://www.amazon.com/Go-One-More-Intentional-Life-Changing/dp/1637746210FOLLOW:Become a BPN member FOR FREE - Unlock 25% off FOR LIFE https://www.bareperformancenutrition.com/collections/performance-nutritionIG: instagram.com/nickbarefitness/YT: youtube.com/@nickbarefitnessThis podcast is for informational purposes only and should not be considered legal [health or profession] advice.
