Hyperliquid's USDH ticker set off the most dramatic “RFP” in recent memory. The crew breaks down why Native Markets ran away with validator support, whether the process was theater or strategy, and how the Bake-off became a marketing masterstroke—and potential leverage on Circle. We dig into Polymarket odds, the last‑minute Paxos bribery allegation (denied), and what this means for future “native” stables on Solana, app chains, and beyond. Welcome to The Chopping Block – where crypto insiders Haseeb Qureshi, Tom Schmidt, Tarun Chitra, and Robert Leshner chop it up about the latest in crypto. This week, we're joined by Guy founder of Ethena as a special guest, as a single ticker (USDH) sparked a weeklong spectacle: Hyperliquid's “Bake-off” to award the USDH stablecoin brand. Native Markets surged ahead as validators signaled support, Paxos rallied late with partners and incentives, and Ethena ultimately withdrew. Was this always a vibes‑based beauty contest, or a deliberate move to pressure Circle and re‑route bridge yield? We parse the incentives, the governance, and the market microstructure — and peek at what happens if every big chain/app tries the “native stablecoin” playbook. Show highlights

I was recently reading an article about The Great British Baking Show - or Bake Off, as we fans of this fun TV competition call it. It was written by someone who had been on the show, one of the competitors, and they were talking about how looking at the show from the inside made them realize something profound: there are no real amateurs anymore. Not only is that changing the media landscape, it also affects what businesses are needed to serve what has replaced them. In this powerful mini recap, Therapy Works revisits my moving conversation with Nadiya Hussain. Nadiya reflects on growing up surrounded by women who seemed exhausted and unfulfilled, and how that shaped her determination to carve a different future. She opens up about the moment her parents forbade her from going to university at 18, threatening to change the locks if she left home and the fury, grief, and powerlessness that followed. Instead of giving up, Nadiya turned her anger into relentless hard work, taking on multiple jobs and forging her independence. Later in life, she reclaimed her dream, studying at university while raising three children, with the unwavering support of her husband Abdul - the same man who signed her up for Bake Off. This is just a glimpse of our conversation. Nadiya's honesty and courage were deeply inspiring, and I'd highly recommend listening to the whole episode - it's a story of defiance, determination, and the power of finding your own path. Sexier Than A Squirrel: Dog Training That Gets Real Life Results
Send us a textCould skipping your dog's daily walk be the kindest thing for them? In this paradigm-shifting episode, Lauren and Karen explore the controversial concept of "ditching the walk" and its potential to transform your relationship with your dog.Explore our diverse range of courses, including the recently released Bake Off course, for inspiration and enrichment ideas.https://absolutedogs.me/bakeoff When your dog's stress bucket is already overflowing, dragging them into potentially overwhelming environments can create negative experiences for everyone involved. Karen shares how her reactive dog Rupert benefits more from alternative activities than from traditional walks when he's not in the right headspace. "If he's not enjoying it either, what is the point?" she questions, challenging long-held beliefs about canine exercise requirements. The discussion reframes what exercise truly means for dogs. "Fitness is movement, and movement is fitness," Lauren emphasises, introducing numerous alternatives that provide both physical and mental stimulation. From confidence circuits and trick training to scent work and puzzle feeders, these activities often deliver more focused attention and meaningful engagement than a distracted walk around the neighbourhood.Karen reveals how enrichment activities serve as valuable "temperature checks" for her dog's mental state. When Rupert willingly performs tricks like "orbit," she knows he's feeling comfortable. When he can't focus on food or familiar behaviours, it signals he's over-threshold—crucial information for responsive care. This isn't about laziness or neglect—it's about truly tuning into what your dog needs and providing alternatives that better serve their wellbeing. You might discover that your dog prefers these targeted activities over walks, responding with enthusiasm rather than the foot-planting reluctance that signals a walk isn't working for them.Whether you have a reactive dog, an ageing senior, or simply want to enhance your relationship, this episode offers practical ways to redefine exercise and enrichment. Try replacing even a portion of your walks with alternative activities, and you might be surprised by the positive changes you see in both your dog's behaviour and your connection with them.Support the showIf you're loving the podcast, you'll love our NEW Sexier than a Squirrel Dog Training Challenge even more! On the evening of the first Tour de France rest day, Lionel Birnie and Graham Willgoss headed to the EF Education-Easy Post team hotel on the outskirts of town for dinner. There, they met the team's chef, Owen Blandy, a keen amateur racer who quit his job in finance to pursue a dream, combining his love of cycling with a passion for cooking. For Owen, preparing the meals for the riders is an ever-changing challenge. First there's the sheer logistics of driving a catering truck that wouldn't look out of place at a street food festival around France, sourcing the ingredients and designing a menu that not only tastes great but gives the riders the right balance of nutrition to perform at their best in the most demanding race in the world. With Ben Healy in the yellow jersey it was a busy day for everyone on the team and while there was not necessarily any extra pressure on evening meal service, there was an additional sense of pride in fuelling the race leader. Forget The Great British Bake-Off, this is the Great French Cook-Off... how does a team chef prepare the food for riders tackling 3,500 kilometres and, most importantly, what does it taste like? Normally Owen's food is reserved exclusively for the riders – the team staff usually have whatever's on the hotel menu but they hover around after the riders have eaten to see if there's any leftovers. So, we felt very lucky to get a taste of Owen's food and the chance to eat a meal fit for the maillot jaune. Then Lionel and Graham turn cookery contest judges and, as you can see from our episode artwork, Owen earned a handshake from Graham in the style of the Bake-Off judge Paul Hollywood. It's mostly lollipops, ribbons and cakes for Clive Anderson this week as he meets Bake Off host Mel Giedroyc, Jane Austen improviser Rachel Parris and Romantic Novelist Mike Gayle (the only man to win the Romantic Writers Association's top award). But not all....Mel Giedroyc's new podcast - and she emphasises it's a comedy one - is taking over from Kathy Burke on Where There's a Will There's a Wake - all about death, funerals and everything in between. She reveals how she and Sue Perkins met and unsurprisingly enough it was love-friends at first sight. Rachel Parris is taking Austentacious, her improv show based on Jane Austen, on the road and to Edinburgh Fringe again. She explains why nothing quite hits the spot like Jane. But she's also written a novel based on the romance between Pride and Prejudice character Charlotte Lucas and Mr Collins. And reader, Eliza Bennett does not come out of this well. Mike Gayle is the only man the Romantic Writers Association has bestowed its Outstanding Achievement Award upon and is a bestselling novelist. He describes his favourite reader letter from when he worked as an Agony Uncle for Bliss Magazine back in the day.All accompanied by the glorious sound of Debbie Wiseman's music for the TV series Wolf Hall, played by the composer herself with the Locrian Ensemble of London, soprano Grace Davidson and Alec Harmon on Cor Anglais.Presented by Clive Anderson Producer Olive Clancy

We recorded this a week ago before the Cavaliers/Pacers series began and what did Box tell you? That the Pacers were not to be slept on. You need to know, this show is dope, and that Box knows ball! The Ohio Senate unanimously voted to regulate sales of Delta 8 cannabinoid products so they can no longer be purchased by anyone Shedeur Sanders seems ready to make his mark in the Browns which leads into us taking a good hard look at the Browns QB situation. Box got the kittens fixed, but not without some adventure. Tee's youngest is slowly but surely wrapping up High School. He also had his own adventures in pre-ordering the Nintendo Switch 2 (along with most of the internet). Via our Bake-Off show Tee is but a bacon strip or two away from fame. That discussion randomly led to us deeply interrogating the idea of 100 Men vs. 1 Gorilla and dudes egos making them think they are better than they are. Tee wants to go to Key West for his birthday. Will it happen? Maybe! We then head to Reddit for the week's AITA which oddly enough includes Tee's reviews of a couple of local restaurants as it relates to one of the AITA's we discussed. Word to Victoria's Bakery in Chesterland, OH. We then wrap it up with our entertainment recommendations for the week. The girls review a celebrity bake-off from 2019 this episode. Lisa explains the difficulty in finding recognizable British celebrities, and both girls embark on a John Lithgow discussion. Five years on from the first Covid lockdown, what can be done to support the 200,000 ‘Lockdown babies' born when lockdown was at its most restrictive, between 23 March and 4 July 2020? These babies have extraordinary young-life stories: Mums giving birth alone; doctors in hazmat suits; babies meeting fathers and grandparents for the first time online; no health visitors; no family cuddles; no baby groups. Now aged four and approaching five, lockdown seems to have had lasting effects on some. What can be done to help? Nuala McGovern is joined by Nicola Botting, Professor of Developmental Disorders at City St George's, University of London and co-lead on The Born in Covid Year – Core Lockdown Effects (BICYCLE) study, Jane Harris, CEO of Speech and Language UK, and mum of three, Frankie Eshun.Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding died of breast cancer in 2021 at the age of 39. Inspired by her desire to find new ways of spotting the disease earlier, the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment in Young Women (BCAN-RAY) study was set up in May 2023. Led by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust with funding from the Christie Charity, Sarah Harding Breast Cancer Appeal, and other charities, it is one of the world's first research programmes to identify breast cancer risks in younger women without a family history of the disease. Nuala speaks to Anna Housley, who has taken part in the study.Nuala talks to Emma van Straaten, whose 10,000 word entry, This Immaculate Body, won the inaugural Women's Prize Discoveries in 2021, an award set up to inspire unagented and unpublished women in the UK and Ireland to write their first novels. That submission is now a published book - It is about Alice, who has been cleaning Tom's flat for over a year, and becomes infatuated with him, a man she has never met.A new TV series, Chess Masters, started last week on BBC2. It's badged as Bake Off with kings and queens. Camilla Lewis, the woman behind the new show, was inspired to create it by her teenage daughter, Jasmine, who became obsessed with the game during lockdown. They join Nuala to talk about how to turn a board game into must-watch television.Presenter: Nuala McGovern Producer: Rebecca Myatt
