1 Peter 2:1-3, “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

The Apostle Paul encouraged us from the earliest days of the church to pray for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. That's what we will do. We'll pray for you. It is our best interest to pray for you because we really just want to lead peaceful and quiet lives in a godly and dignified way. We want that for ourselves and for everyone else. We'll pray that you have the wisdom to move our nation in that direction. Quiet, peaceful, godly, and dignified lives for all.
The Apostle Peter was a man of faith and fear along with amazing accomplishments and crushing defeats. He’s relatable and understandable. Let his life encourage you. An introduction to his letter, 1 Peter.

Psychologists have long known that people can be scarred for years by a single event. The term for it is trauma, but what is the opposite? What word would describe a positive emotional state that lingers for decades in response to a single event? There is no opposite of trauma, because no single good event has such a lasting impact.” (Tierney, John. The Power of Bad (p. 7). Penguin Publishing Group. Kindle Edition. )But is that ultimately true?Is there nothing we can call the opposite of trauma? How does the Resurrection of Jesus Christ fit into that picture?

Note: We are grateful that no one in our congregation has been sick with COVID-19. I mentioned praying for those who had the virus but meant that in a general way for our country and our county. Not knowing how long suffering will last only adds to the pain. In Psalm 13, David asks, "How long, O Lord?"
Are you listening to too much noise? After a recent message, someone asked me asked me if I was against meditation. Not at all! I am pro-meditation. In fact, I don't think you can live an effective Christian life without meditating...
“Prayer is asking God to incarnate, to get dirty in your life. Yes, the eternal God scrubs floors. For sure we know he washes feet. So take Jesus at his word. Ask him. Tell him what you want. Get dirty. Write out your prayer requests; don't mindlessly drift through life on the American narcotic of busyness. If you try to seize the day, the day will eventually break you. Seize the corner of his garment and don't let go until he blesses you. He will reshape the day.” – Paul E. Miller, A Praying LifePosted March 24, 2020

What is, by far, God's most frequent command? The usual suspects include “Do not commit adultery,” “Have no other gods before me,” and “Love one another.” “The next group includes whatever commands you know you have violated, in which case they only feel as if they appear on every page of Scripture. The actual answer is “Do not be afraid.” – Ed Welch, Running Scared: Fear, Worry, and the God of Rest (p. 61). New Growth Press. This is the first audio podcast (6:55 min.) from Liberty Church of Cosby during these days of social-distancing because of the COVID-19 virus. Churches are increasing their online presence through audio and video, and we are glad to do the same. This audio includes an open letter from a pastor in the Wuhan province of China. It is dated January 23, 2020 with encouraging words from someone living in the midst of what we are beginning to experience in America. My hope is that we can experience the same comfort and hope he writes so eloquently about. We look forward to being together very soon. Until then, we want to keep in touch with our church folks and invite you to let us know how you are doing.Posted March 18, 2020
