The podcast, now supported by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley, features candid conversations with students, educators, and community leaders—tackling mental health from every angle. WDIY Lehigh Valley Health Network Wind Creek Event Center Michael Bernadyn of RE/MAX Real Estate Molly’s Irish Grille & Sports Pub Banko Beverage Company Episode Recap Teen Voices, Real Conversations: Inside YANA LV on WDIY “You are not alone.” It's more than a title—it's the foundation of YANA LV, the student-led mental health show created by Moravian Academy seniors Brannagh Breslin and Diya Sharma. Their journey began in the summer before junior year with a few iPhone recordings and an idea. “We decided to start this podcast because we both had interest in mental health,” Diya says. “Our stories individually were so different, but they overlapped with the idea of mental health and giving it to a bigger audience.” Mental Health Is Personal The show is rooted in lived experience. “For example, if a girl is smiling to the world, happy, seems like the most bubbly person in the world—it's not true,” Diya says. “She might be dealing with the most deepest things herself, and she's afraid to tell other people.” “And that's another reason we started this podcast,” she adds. “Because the idea of You Are Not Alone means that we're a community, and we're going to support one another.” From Voice Memos to Broadcast Airwaves At first, the show was as DIY as it gets. “We would just record on our phones,” Diya recalls. “Obviously it’s not as great editing as we have here at the studio, but it was a start.” They cold-emailed professors and local figures to ask about everything from ADHD to the psychological impact of injury and trauma. “Sometimes we would have to send five emails to five different people just to get one episode,” Brannagh says. Eventually, with encouragement from a teacher and a few inspiring guests, they were connected with WDIY's Youth Media Program. “I brought my dad into the studio,” Brannagh says. “I was so excited about it. It feels so professional.” Standout Guests, Lasting Impact Two moments stood out from their time on the show. “David Robertson… he came on to talk about Joshua Tree,” Brannagh says. “It's for his little brother, who unfortunately passed away due to addiction… and he turned it into such a positive thing.” Their very first WDIY episode also left a mark. “His name is Herman,” Diya says. “He's an anesthesiologist and he has a prosthetic leg. The way he spoke and the things that he said were very inspirational.” What They've Learned “Even though situations aren't exactly the same,” Brannagh says, “we're still bringing attention to talking about the things that we go through.” Diya adds: “Everyone has physical health—and I think everyone has mental health, whether they recognize it or not. I think just normalizing that and talking about it is the first big step.” What's Next? Brannagh is heading to NYU to study liberal studies and political science or psychology before law school. Diya will attend UVA to study biology and pursue a career in medicine. But they're not finished with YANA LV. “Obviously, we can't come here and record at the studio,” Brannagh says, “but we'll keep YANA alive.” Follow LVwithLOVE on Substack

A note about the work “on hunger” from Diya Abbas for the Michigan Quarterly Review's Winter 2025 Issue: Chiasmus is the grammatical technique of inversion. This poem uses chiasmus, or concatenation, to create entrapment for the speaker, the subject, and the reader. I wrote this poem because I was frustrated with time. I hoped this technique would build a contamination of belief where sound, the repetition of words and their meanings, could weave the unknown and known. Truth or what Louise Glück calls “embodied vision” is most often found first in the excavation of sound: In the aural knots of the image. Each ligature of the line breaks builds an unbreakable machine of the poem. I want my poems to be concerned with the illumination of vision that makes alternative forms of time possible including the very form of our lives. What poetry offers us is the chance to practice embodied inquiry with intensity and intention. I hope that this poem, through presence, can dance with dignity through form to confront the dilemma of time.

GDP Script/ Top Stories for December 11th Publish Date: December 11th From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Wednesday, December 11th and Happy birthday to Nikki Six ***12.11.24 - BIRTHDAY – NIKKI SIX*** I’m Keith Ippolito and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. North Gwinnett's Diya Patel Graduates From Kennesaw State At Age 19 Okefenokee Swamp supporters urge aggressive refuge expansion to stop mining Gwinnett DA's Office sets national trend with FBI training award Plus, Leah McGrath from Ingles Markets on picky toddlers. All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: 07.14.22 KIA MOG STORY 1: Early Graduate: North Gwinnett's Diya Patel Graduates From Kennesaw State At Age 19 Diya Patel, a 19-year-old graduate of Kennesaw State University, earned her psychology degree with honors while balancing a packed schedule of coursework, community contributions, and research. Driven by her dream of becoming a physician, Patel accelerated her studies, taking full course loads year-round to graduate early. She was an active leader on campus, serving as president of the Honors Advisory Leadership Council and founding organizations like the KSU chapter of It’s On Us to combat sexual assault. Patel also engaged in undergraduate research, volunteered with social service groups aiding refugees and unhoused people, and worked at an urgent care facility while honing her multilingual skills. Passionate about education, healthcare, and sustainable development, she aims to continue her global volunteer efforts alongside her medical career, inspired by the diverse, supportive community she found at KSU. STORY 2: Okefenokee Swamp supporters urge aggressive refuge expansion to stop mining The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has proposed a 22,000-acre expansion of the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge to protect the area through land purchases or conservation easements with willing landowners. The plan has garnered strong support from environmental advocates, who are urging the FWS to expand even further to permanently block mining projects near the refuge, including a controversial titanium mine by Twin Pines Mineral. Opponents of the mine argue it could harm water levels, wildlife, and the ecosystem, while Twin Pines claims the project would have no negative impact. While the expansion won't directly influence Georgia's permitting decisions, it reflects a broader effort to ensure long-term protection of this vital blackwater swamp. Local and state officials have also rallied in opposition to the mine, calling for stronger safeguards for the swamp's unique environment. STORY 3: Gwinnett DA's Office sets national trend with FBI training award This week, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office became the first DA's office in the U.S. to receive the Agency Trilogy Award from FBI-LEEDA, recognizing their entire command staff's completion of leadership courses. While many law enforcement agencies have earned this award, Gwinnett's achievement is unique among DA offices. The award highlights their commitment to professional development and leadership, aligning with DA Patsy Austin-Gatson's vision for serving the community. The training, which can be completed in about a month, enhances leadership skills and ethics, benefiting the office and its investigators. Determined to reclaim her life, she not only returned to running, completing the Peachtree Road Race a year later, but also pursued a college degree at 47. Inspired by her experience and the young man responsible for the crash, she enrolled in political science to understand and potentially reform the justice system. Rantamaki's journey highlights the importance of community support and her desire to contribute positively, aiming to work with nonprofits aiding young or incarcerated individuals. STORY 5: Seckinger High School A State Finalist In Samsung's National STEM Competition Seckinger High School is among 300 U.S. public schools, and one of seven in Georgia, competing for the $100,000 grand prize in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM Competition. Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. – Joshua J. Marine Host, Saanvi Phaneendra with reporters Diya and Hasini tackle a topic that every teen can relate to: challenges. Challenges come in all shapes and sizes, from small daily struggles to monumental obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. But here's the thing about challenges: they're not just roadblocks; they're stepping stones. Every challenge is an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to become stronger than before. Whether it's in our personal lives, our careers, or even in the vast and mysterious expanse of space, challenges push us to innovate, adapt, and keep moving forward. They remind us that nothing worth achieving comes easy, and that persistence is the key to success. As the Space Spotlight reporter, Saanvi discusses one of NASA's most ambitious endeavors: the Artemis Mission. It's not just a return to the Moon; it's a mission that aims to pave the way for future human exploration of Mars. The Artemis program is daring, groundbreaking, and yes, full of enormous challenges. The next time you face a challenge, no matter how big or small, don't shy away from it. Face it. Embrace it. See it for what it is – an opportunity. An opportunity to push your boundaries, to find new solutions, and to emerge stronger and wiser than before. How Do I Forgive Myself?

More than anything Shawna wanted to be a great mom. That’s why she’s struggled with forgiving herself in her failings as a mother more than anything else. How do we forgive ourselves? Diya was as wicked as they come and her wickedness made her extremely wealthy. Then she has a vision of herself in hell and it crushed her. It’s a conversation about how following Jesus is not a ticket to heaven but about life transformation. Maybe you’ve grown up ending prayer with the words, “In Jesus name we pray. Amen.” What does it mean to pray “in Jesus’ name”? Perry shares about a moment when he spoke to his bride in anger and wounded her heart. His sin made him sad. It’s a conversation about how the sadness God lets us feel for our sin is used by him to free us from committing the same sins over and over. Forgiving someone who’s wronged us is shifting from “because of what you did, you owe me” to “even though you did what you did, you owe me nothing.” When God forgives us he goes so far beyond that. He forgives, cleanses, reconciles, and empowers us to forgive others!Support the show: https://give.moodyradio.org/fall-share?v=def&appeal=MRWM&_gl=1%2a142i9we%2a_ga%2aNTE4MTE5MmUtY2U1Yy00YmQ3LWU4MmUtNjEwYTQ5YzAyODRj%2a_ga_4WH1937046%2aMTY5NTExODEwMS4yOTkuMC4xNjk1MTE4MTAxLjYwLjAuMA..&_ga=2.197426156.215784306.1695059984-1182841406.166859587See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles.” – Tim Cahill Returning just hours before the broadcast from a phenomenal choral tour of South Africa, jet-lagged and seasoned teen host, Julia, enthusiastically talks about the new friends she made on her journey and welcomes three other teen reporters to discuss the joys of international travel. Two reporters, Diya and Armine, are making their debut segments. Diya shares the suspense she experienced in the cenotes of Mexico, Mayan ruins, and the awe of visiting the Taj Mahal. Armine encourages eco-traveling with simple tips on how to explore the world while keeping the health of the planet in mind. Hasini, another new reporter, reflects on last summer's two-month internship at a hospital in Hyderabad in South India where she worked in a laboratory and enjoyed eating street food. She also waxed poetic about the history and magnificence of the Taj Mahal. Despite the challenges and exhaustion of flying, all the teens agree that traveling to a foreign land offers cultural awareness with distinctive perspectives. Making friends and bringing back memories tops the list of bonuses. Do your research, pack your bags, and get ready to fly. Remember wherever you travel, leave only footprints, and take only memories. For the next few days, you can listen to a couple of stories every single day.And That's because on our podcast we will have some special storytellers!! We have middle and high school students who through the summer have been learning about how to craft their own stories and then produce them on a podcast.Free activity sheet available at www.rituvaish.com/podcast-summer-camp Let's give a warm welcome AryahiTranscriptAdventures in a boxOnce upon a time Khyati, Diya, Anaya, and Aarna. These 4 friends were sitting peacefully in the park and enjoying the gentle breeze with the melodious chirping of the birds. Suddenly a man dropped a big box in front of them.It was a regular brown cardboard box and before the friends could ask, the man vanished. Everybody opened the box together and Anaya saw a note saying “FINISH THIS GAME IN ONE HOUR and GOOD LUCK YOU NEED IT” Everyone gasped. They all stuck their head in the box, which didn't contain anything. Wpoosh! They all got sucked in. The first place they landed was a thick forest. They all were scared and shocked. Then a hologram appeared in the air. They all read out loud, “If you want to live in a place even hotter, go to a place where you can find more water” Aarna screamed, “ The pond a place where you can find more water!” They all sprinted to the pond and saw a big chest.. unfortunately, they saw a lion guarding a treasure chest. There were also balloons tied around the chest and a note saying, “Figure out the code or this lion will eat you.”So they popped the balloons and there were alphabet letters inside each balloon. They unscrambled the letters to make a word and typed the code on the lock of the chest Khyati said “Yes it worked! Now, inside the chest was another clue, “If you want to go to a place that is free go to a place with more trees.” They all screamed monkey habitat. They ran there and they saw a portal. The portal was blue and oval shaped so they remembered that(remembered??). They jumped in and landed in a small village. But now the problem was they didn't see any clue and they didn't know anything about the village. they started roaming around and asking for directions(to where??). But sooner than later they were lost.Frustrated and exhausted they kept roaming around. But when they reached the pond the clue appeared again(where?). It said “Since this is a place that is very hot go to an area where things don't rot”. They all screamed the farm! They looked at each other in a confused state, “ which farm?” they exclaimed together. They tried asking everyone but it was hopeless. Until they ran into the farm itself. They went inside and the farmer angrily told them to leave. The farmer said, “Hey, why are you on my farm? Don't you have anything else to do?” But before that, they jumped into the portal.(are the farm and the portal side by side??) They reached home (you should not reach home before completing the bom]nus level)there was a man saying, “Congratulations you have completed the first four levels but now you have to complete the bonus level.” Diya shouted, “Oh come on we completed all these levels now you are giving us a bonus level?” Everyone was having mixed emotions about this. Their forehead furrowed, their legs went jelly, and their mouth parched. Then Anaya said, “Anything for going home guys.”Then she told the conductor, “We will play”. So they saw a portal and jumped in. They suddenly appeared in Dubai! They were all shocked, happy, and thrilled. Khyati said, “We finally visited Dubai!” They all hugged each other and jumped around until Diya said, “Guys focus I know we finally visited Dubai but we have to solve the clues to get home.” Everyone agreed. Then the host made the next clue appear with his magic it said, “Since this is a city where the season now is fall go to the building that is very tall”. They all screamed together “Burj Khalifa”. Now their main problem was everyone here speaks Arabic and they can't understand the language. So they kept walking for hours and hours, their legs started hurting and they were struggling to walk. So late at night they entered the hotel and slept on the couches at the reception. Then when they woke up in the morning they asked the receptionist to help book a cab for them and tell the driver that they had to go to the Burj Khalifa. But once they reached the Burj Khalifa they were forbidden to use the lift so they took the stairs all the way to the top. Then the game conductor handed over parachutes to them and asked them to jump down. They all were very frightened but they just closed their eyes and jumped down. While falling down they entered a box that sucked them in and they reached home. “Home sweet home” they all shouted unanimously. They were so happy that they reached home and they all finally relaxed. Then they made a promise to each other that they would never again pick up any unclaimed object!

Have you ever had an idea, or heard an idea, thinking it was brilliant, only to realise that the idea is not that new, and didn't come from where you thought it did? Welcome to the discipline of organisational psychology.    Hey, it's Andrew, and this is Safety on Tap.    Since you're listening in, you must be a leader wanting to grow yourself and drastically improve health and safety along the way.  Welcome to you, you're in the right place.  If this is your first time listening in, thanks for joining us and well done for trying something different to improve! And of course welcome back to all of you wonderful regular listeners.   Industrial and organisational psychology, or IO psych as it is often called, is well over 100 years old.  It was labelled as the exploration of 'real life' psychology. It's official birth is suggested to be 1913, with the publication of the first text on the subject called Psychology and Industrial Efficiency, by Hugo Munsterberg.   How is it that such a field, with 100 years of history and research and development, is not that familiar to most of us working in health and safety?   Well today I hope that will change just a little, as I dialogue with Diya Dey, an organisational psychologist based in Melbourne Australia. Diya has experience in both consulting and working in-house, and is currently in a organisational psychology role focussed on organisational wellbeing in the Victorian State Government.   When I first met Diya, I found her curious, and generous. A great combination in my book, so it was only natural that I would invite her into a conversation with the Safety on Tap community about how industrial and organisation psychology relates to, and can enhance, work health and safety.   Here's my conversation with Diya Dey:

Did your high school have an entire mental health department? Our host, Kristin, certainly did not experience this in the 80's at her high school! Tune in to hear two new podcasters to join our network that are currectly in high school (2024). Brannagh and Diya, two women we want to support with everything we can, created Y.A.N.A. (You are never alone) to help support mental health awareness for themselves and their peers! One of their amazing teachers is also a podcaster on the network, Amanda Grieme, of H.O.L.D.F.A.S.T. Radio!Who They AreWe are juniors at Moravian Academy High School located in Bethlehem Pennsylvania. Mental health has played a major role in both of our lives. We believe mental health is of paramount importance as it directly influences our overall well-being and quality of life. It's the foundation for our emotional, psychological, and social well-being, and it impacts how we think, feel, and act daily. Good mental health enables us to handle life's challenges, cope with stress, build positive relationships, and make informed decisions. When mental health is neglected, it can lead to a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders, which can adversely affect every aspect of our lives.Their MissionOur mission-goal:Around late June of 2023, we established a podcast called YANA LV which stands for You Are Not Alone Lehigh Valley. As of November 2023, we have established roughly 20 episodes and have more in the making. In these episodes, we interview a multitude of people ranging from individuals with disabilities to teachers, psychologists, authors, and individuals with varying disorders such as bipolar, etc, and ask them to discuss how their life experiences correlate with mental health. We believe prioritizing mental health through seeking support when needed and reducing stigma around mental health issues is essential for living a fulfilling and productive life. Our story:So why did we create YANA LV? Although we have both struggled with our mental health and wanted to establish a new coping mechanism it was two different experiences that led us to the creation of this podcast turned organization. For Brannagh it was her brother with autism who often found himself struggling with his mental health. She wanted to show him he was not alone. For Diya, it was how mental health and Indian dance correlate, especially how her instructor's mental health was impacted.
