A transgender powerlifter who is a biological male won a discrimination lawsuit against USA Powerlifting. JayCee Cooper filed a 2021 lawsuit against USA Powerlifting, and a judge has ruled that USA Powerlifting did discriminate against Cooper by not allowing Cooper to compete against women. No one WANTS to talk about transgenderism, but it's being pushed in front of people and forcibly shoved down their throats. For example, Always ran a commercial featuring a trans man because men can have periods too. The insanity is becoming so entwined in the fabric of our society that reality is meaningless. LGBT groups in New York City are furious that the Staten Island St. Patrick's Day Parade will once again not allow LGBT pride groups to march under LGBT banners. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has announced that he will boycott the parade in protest. St. Patrick's Day is supposed to be about the Irish, but apparently that's no longer the case. We're joined by Ezra Levant, Rebel Commander and host of “The Ezra Levant Show” on Rebel News+, to discuss the case of Pastor Derek Reimer, who remains locked behind bars in Calgary. One reason young folks don't last in the startup world is that too many haven't suffered a massively alienating experience and pushed through. This is especially true for the average founder who is white and upper-middle-class. Teaching 'entrepreneurship' to those without resilience is a bizarre feature of campus life today. Listen to me explain why getting alienated is the entrepreneur's real superpower.Your Host: Dr. James F. This week, we start the episode with a quick shout out to our Patreon page which we hope that you will seriously consider giving to. You will get a shout out in future episodes, if you wish, and there are tiered benefits available. If we had a pound for everyone who has ever listened to Tune in Tone up, then we would be very happy guitar podcasters indeed. After this initial launch, Dan and I have an improvisation over the Andy Timmons track from last week. We then have a listen to a snippet of Andy Timmon's own improvisation and if you would like to hear more and have these tracks for yourself, then click this link: https://prf.hn/l/MDmJ5bB and find his set of jamming tracks and buy it using TONEUP30 at the check out. We then move on to talking about bending and Dan distinguishes between under and over bending as a mistake that lots of guitarists, especially as they are starting out, make frequently. Then we move on to the topic of overbending as a technique in itself and put this to some use over another one of Andy Timmons jam tracks – A Funky Motif, key of Cm. Finally, we take a cursory look at Matt Schofield's amazing course – Blues Speak. We listen to him talking about Albert Collins using the minor pentatonic with an added 6th, then an excerpt of an improvisation by Matt Schofield to demonstrate this idea. We then take a very quick look at where the idea of overbending came from: Matt Schofield's, Blues Speak on Albert King where we hear him ‘wrestle' the notes from the bend. In its pursuit of intelligent, imaginative, inspired music, Radiohead won six Grammy Awards, sold 30 million albums, and was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Today, Radiohead continues to be admired as one of the few bands that continues to innovate and renew itself. It almost single-handedly has kept rock relevant in the 21st century, when the genre has largely gone out of fashion. Radiohead's stellar reputation is to a large degree based on the band's most famous albums, their third, OK Computer (1997) and their fourth, Kid A (2000), both of which won a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Album. It is less well-known in the US that it was in fact the band's second album, The Bends, released in 1995, that launched Radiohead's experimental side and established their ambitious new musical direction. See below for details. 1995 was the year of the Nineties, according to author and journalist Dylan Jones. It was peak Britpop (Oasis vs Blur), peak YBA (Tracey Emin's tent), peak New Lad (Nick Hornby published High Fidelity, James Brown launched Loaded magazine, and pubs were finally allowed to stay open on a Sunday). It was the year Radiohead brought out The Bends, Danny Boyle started filming Trainspotting, Alex Garland wrote The Beach, and Tony Blair changed Clause IV after a controversial vote at the Labour Party Conference. Jones reflects on it all in his new book, Faster Than a Cannonball: 1995 and All That, which features interviews with the key players from the decade, including Noel and Liam Gallagher, Tracey Emin, Goldie, David Beckham and Alastair Campbell. Don your wetsuit, grab your oxygen tank, and securely fasten your mask, because this week we're going on our deepest dive yet. In this episode, we're plumbing the depths of decompression sickness, aka the bends, to get a better handle on how gases and pressure can be so very deadly. We start out with a bit of Gases 101, examining how decompression sickness occurs and why it affects your body in the ways it does. Next, we explore the not-so-distant history of this disease, a history that includes far more tales of bridge engineering than it does of SCUBA diving (but just as fascinating). Finally, we rise to the surface, but not too quickly, with a look at decompression sickness around the world today. Tune in to hear the highs, the lows, and everything in between of this industrial era disease, and feel free to leave your decompression schedule at home.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
