Making a special appearance at the 56th Annual Nashville Film Festival was actor Tonatiuh. The festival awarded him their Rising Star Award for his incredible performance as the lead in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (also starring Jennifer Lopez and Diego Luna). Sure to get some Oscar buzz for his portrayal of Luis Molina and Kendall Nesbitt in the musical film, Tonatiuh spent some time with us on the red carpet and chatted about working with veteran actors Lopez and Luna, his dance background that came into play here and how he's waited his whole life for a role like this.

Let's Chat! What happens when we leave someone waiting too long? In "The One Who Waited," we follow Detective Grayson through rain-slicked streets of 1980s Chicago as he investigates the murder of Mary Blake—a woman from his past whose throat was cut in an alley behind the Sapphire Room jazz club. But this noir mystery quickly transforms into something far more haunting. As Grayson discovers cryptic messages left at the crime scene and encounters vinyl records that play without power, he confronts an uncomfortable truth: Mary didn't die because of what he did, but because of what he wouldn't do. She waited for him, believing in a version of him that he couldn't sustain, while he wrapped himself in silence and absence. Through supernatural manifestations—messages appearing in fogged mirrors, radios turning on by themselves, and ash drawings that move across walls—Grayson faces the consequence of leaving someone suspended in hope that never materialized. The episode reveals how waiting isn't neutral but grows thorns over time. Every unreturned call, every missed show, every promise broken creates a ledger of emotional debt that someone else pays for. The metaphorical "Greenbrier" entity represents how absence rots and silence collects interest. What makes this story particularly powerful is how it distinguishes between grief (which faces truth) and avoidance (which hides inside grief to escape accountability).Whether you've been the one checking your phone repeatedly for a message that never arrives or the one letting calls go to voicemail with promises to respond "later," this episode will make you reconsider the open loops in your own life. What rooms still hold someone else's breath? What lights have you left on in doorways you never intended to cross again? Listen, reflect, and perhaps find the courage to either turn off those lights or walk through those doors for real. The peace of mind you seek might be waiting on the other side of a single honest sentence."True mastery is found in the details. The way you handle the little things defines the way you handle everything."

I've always wondered how he feels about the fact that he and my mom waited 16 years after getting married to have kids. He was on such a different timeline than the one I'm on, and I wanted to hear directly from him what those years were like, what they were thinking, and how he feels about that choice now, in his 70s, as a grandfather. We talked about everything from their Studio 54 days, to aging, regrets, and what it means to be present as a parent and a grandparent. In a special podcast on the new and devastating conflict between Israel and Iran, host Allison Kaplan Sommer talks to Haaretz senior security analyst Amos Harel, who assesses the initial military achievements, the high price of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to launch a preemptive strike on the Islamic Republic and the likelihood of the United States being pulled into the war. Harel believes that while, as always, there were political and personal interests behind the premier’s timing of the attack, Israel’s top security chiefs widely viewed it as necessary. “Not only was Iran on its way to becoming a nuclear power, but there were other parts of its plans in which they were making impressive progress in recent weeks. Their rate of production of ballistic missiles meant that within a few years, the Iranian arsenal that could hit Israel would probably rise to up to 8,000 missiles. The current assessment is around 2,500 missiles. That is quite a difference, and there was a narrow window of opportunity in which Israel had to act.” Harel was skeptical that a cease-fire was possible any time soon since “not enough blood has been spilled.” He was also doubtful that Israel’s display of force and destruction could push the ideologically driven ayatollahs to the negotiating table to make compromises on nuclear enrichment. If the conflict drags on and “becomes a war of attrition that leads nowhere, then Netanyahu will be in deep trouble,” he predicted. Judy Rowland, a former New Yorker also joined the podcast to share her harrowing experience when an Iranian ballistic missile hit her Tel Aviv apartment building. She lived on the 29th floor on Friday night, which she said, felt reminiscent of the 9/11 attack. When the missile struck, she and her family were huddled in their apartment’s safe room. “We thought about the people who were stuck on the higher floors” in the New York towers. “When we smelled smoke, I started thinking ‘Will we burn to death? Or will we jump out of the windows?’” The parallel arose again as the Rowlands and their neighbors were making their way down the tens of flights of stairs amid the debris seeking safety. “I couldn’t help thinking about all those people in the buildings walking down the stairs. All of us felt it and were saying the same thing. It was a total 9/11 moment. This was our 9/11.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Picture what it would be like to lose everything in one fell swoop. Your house burns to the ground. The stock market plummets, and all your money is gone. Worst of all, your children fall ill and die. Suddenly, you've lost not only your material possessions but your family, too. When people refer to someone as having “the patience of Job,” they say that for a reason.Job was a man of immense wealth, the richest man in the region, and was the father of seven sons and three daughters he loved dearly. He was also a faithful servant of the Lord, and grateful for every blessing. In a terrible turn of events, Job lost his fortune in a single day. His crops, property, livestock, and servants were gone. Most devastating of all, Job lost his children. But Job didn't blame God. He accepted that God had a plan for him, and was patient as he waited for the Lord to reveal that plan. He knew that sometimes bad things happen to good people, and he continued to praise the Lord in the midst of trial.Exodus 14:14 says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”Job lost everything, but he didn't take matters into his own hands to seek justice for what he had lost. He fell to his knees and worshipped the Lord, and then he was still. In the quiet of his soul, Job knew God had a plan, and in the end, God restored to Job twice as much as he had in the beginning.A godly man is patient.Let's pray.Lord, waiting is hard to do. Waiting for an answer. Waiting for resolution. Waiting for things to get better. Restore peace and patience as we grow in faith and learn to wait on you. We trust you. In Jesus' name, amen. 50 Jurors Waited—Then Lori Showed Up in a Wheelchair Inside the Trial Meltdown On June 2, 2025, the long-anticipated Arizona trial of Lori Vallow Daybell took an unexpected turn before it even began. Known widely as the "Doomsday Mom," Lori Vallow is facing charges of conspiracy to commit the attempted murder of her former nephew-in-law, Brandon Boudreaux. But just as jury selection was about to start, the entire process was thrown into disarray. Vallow arrived in court in a wheelchair, claiming she was too ill to proceed. Describing symptoms of nausea, chills, and a headache, she insisted she couldn't defend herself—and as her own legal counsel, that brought everything to a screeching halt. The courtroom was filled with prospective jurors, the prosecution team, and the alleged victim himself. And yet, in under two hours, proceedings were suspended until later in the week. This video breaks down the legal implications of the delay, the real-time reactions inside the courtroom, and what this moment reveals about the broader strategy at play. We examine how Vallow's choice to represent herself is already complicating the case—and why the judge's warnings about future disruptions might be the most telling part of the day. Featuring expert commentary, timeline analysis, and direct quotes from the courtroom, this episode is your all-access pass to one of the strangest opening acts in recent true crime trial history. Why did Lori Vallow really refuse to proceed? How did the judge, jury pool, and prosecution respond? And what does this mean for the road ahead?
