A message of unity (uncut)

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 18, 2021 23:15

Mind the "umm's" and the "annnnnd's".It's how well we help each other and support each other that will bring us together.Showing compassion to those that are on their own journey of life. Just as how we need to show ourselves compassion. We all have blindspots and whether it be pride or our attachments we may often not receive gifts of criticism. We all saw and heard the insurrection attempts that got Trump impeached a second time. These are not the way to communicate with each other of what we need and what we want. It's listening to each other and finding the similarities that will help to bridge what is fundamentally our love for each other over the differences. On this "blue" Monday I offer my love to you and encourage you to do the same for another.I hope Martin Luther King Jr. would support this message.Love you all

I'm gonna try my hand at dating apps and online dating. This is relatively a first for me because the only other time I tried it was when tinder first launched and I didn't find any of the connections meaningful. Also, I was interested in the lead up to dating someone and the back story related to that instead of the simple, "we met online". But I don't have any qualms about it. I also share other stuff happening in my life. Hope you're all safe and taking care of yourselves. If you have any advice on dating I'm open to it. Email me at nthpod@gmail.com Thanks for listening! Inspired by Andrew Huberman on the Joe Rogan Podcast. He's a neuroscientist and studies how the we can perform optimally.Simply put, it comes down to four things: Clear, calm, focus, and sleep. Also, by being in a state of urgency we can improve our ability to learn. I argue that prolonged periods in this state could backfire and "overheat" the brain instead. This can be seen in people with PTSD or CTE.Appreciate everyone that's listening and hope you're all staying safe!nthpod@gmail.com

Masks save lives and Karen's don't

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 20, 2020 25:21

Today I share my thoughts on masks and how the controversy is absolutely selfish. If anything, we should have implemented masks from SARS, H1N1, and even during the Spanish Flu era. There's no question that masks protect you and those you love so why argue otherwise? There's only one explanation, you share a similar entitlement that is often seen with a "Karen". The entitlement that you believe you're more important than the rest of us. That because we wear a mask, you don't have to. Well, hopefully you don't contract covid or any other flu for that matter because like the Karen's of today, I see you being exposed as well. I also share an opinion piece from NPR about the origin of the moniker Karen and it's lineage of racist past. The selfish and entitled aspect of Karen's and the anti-mask people is being exposed today. It's how we move forward that will truly reflect our humanity.

** SPOILER ALERTS **The tv series Brave New World based on the novel written by Aldous Huxley is a very fascinating depiction of a dystopian society. I share on this episode how the many themes on the dystopian fiction story are often seen today. The concept of no privacy is a theme I discuss at length as it relates to the many conglomerate companies that are recording our every move. The theme of monogamy is also fascinating since we are seeing higher divorce rates than ever in the history of time. And finally the opioid crisis we have manufactured for onto ourselves. Let me begin by saying violence is not the answer! If you want to save the world, save it because you love it!" —Gary Snyder. Our house is on fire. The world is coming together to put it out and the only way to do that is by change. Let me preface that I am so grateful for all the front-line workers in the health care industry. I'm going to chalk up my poor experience to the over-worked, under-paid, and all around high tensions being produced by the situation. I think (and I'm no expert) that if you haven't been exposed to someone that has been confirmed or don't show any symptoms, to avoid getting tested. I can see that the workers at my testing site were clearly under a lot of pressure and unfortunately are not operating at their best. The process at my testing site was terrible. Consider the drive-thru option if it is available but know that you'll be waiting for about 2 hours minimum. Also, the drive through was closed within 1.5 hours of being opened. Authenticity

From The Happiness Equation by Neil Pasricha and Heart Talk by Cleo Wade, I share examples of the importance of being authentic to yourself. Sure, there are times when we step outside of who we are but that's all part of us. And we might regret other times we tried hard or didn't try enough but that too is all a part of us. Jack Kornfield from Heart Wisdom podcast shares a quote by his teacher who says, "you are perfect...... with room for improvement". The sooner we embrace ourselves for our strengths and weaknesses the better we become. It doesn't mean that we stop caring, but it means we start to identify what it is we want to improve on. I also share my thoughts on the current situation of the pandemic and how proud I am of everyone doing their best.
