PixlBit's weekly podcast. The staff of PixlBit discusses their current gaming addictions, news, and anything else game related.
We all know that death and taxes are inevitable, but we might want to add PixlTalk taking at least a few months to produce a new episode to that list. In any event, it's given us plenty of time to build up some energy for a lively discussion with returned staff member, Nate Hascup! After short introductions, we dive right in with discussion of the status of the big three companies. Furthermore, we talk shop on the Wii U and if Nintendo can unsink the ship at this point. Sony's VR head set also comes into focus as we crack jokes about how they'll have to sell another building just to keep things in the black. Some other stuff gets discussed, like what we're playing and some random cosplay tangents, but like any good(?) PixlTalk, things are all over the place. Enjoy the episode and be sure to say hi to Nate!

Though we all know the next holiday approaching is Halloween, for Nick and Chris, Saturday night was more like Christmas Eve. Starting at midnight Sunday morning, Namco Bandai opened up the first play session for the Dark Souls II beta and the duo got a chance to check out a portion of the game for 3 full hours. While there's quite a bit of coverage from the event forthcoming, this first tidbit is a discussion between the two about their time in the game and the things that they observed and experienced. If you too are a Dark Souls fanatic, be sure to check this special episode out and hear about all of the changes that were made for this new addition to the brutal franchise. Of course, if you have any questions or comments, be sure to leave a message below and we'll give you the scoop. Furthermore, be sure to check out Chris' videos of the first 50 minutes of his play time with the beta below!

Yes, it's true. PixlTalk is still alive despite an almost year long hiatus. Between moves and children being born and a slew of other excuses events, we haven't had an opportunity to get together to do one of these in a very long time. Like most episodes of the show we're all over the place, but the unique dynamic between all participants makes it something worth tuning in for. The whole crew steps through what they've been playing and that list includes the likes of The Wonderful 101, SteamWorld Dig, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Sweet Fuse, Rayman Legends, and Killer is Dead. This of course spawns a conversation about gaming "misogyny" and the critic reaction to many Japanese games as of late. Chessa lends her views on the gender topic and doesn't beat around the bush. For those just tuning in, there's a healthy helping of questionable language (Translation: we curse like sailors, or at least Chessa does) and we make plenty of extremely inappropriate jokes. Hopefully you're not offended too much, it's all in good fun. Let us know what you think in the comments below and we hope to keep these up every other week, but we make no promises!

After a short hiatus and some failed podcasts post-New York Comic Con, episode 80 has finally come to fruition. And not a moment too late, as the crew for this episode (Nick, Jason, and JD) all have their Deluxe Wii Us and are excited to talk about them. To kick things off we discuss overall thoughts on the system, the Game Pad, and the onboard applications, like Miiverse and the eShop. Following our breakdown of the system itself discussion jumps straight into the games. Nick's been playing Nintendo Land, while JD has spent some time with ZombiU and Jason has delved deeply into both Epic Mickey 2 and New Super Mario Bros. U. Whether you've picked up a Wii U or not, you should tune in to this episode of PixlTalk for a glut of Wii U impressions and some candid thoughts on the potential of the system and where it may be headed in the future.

On October 26, the latest video game movie and second Silent Hill film, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will arrive in theaters. Given the impending release of the film, I had an opportunity to talk with writer and director, Michael J. Bassett about the film. Though it continues the story arc of the first film, it also roughly chronicles the events of Silent Hill 3 and protagonist Heather Mason. Like previous director, Christophe Gans, the film is a work of passion for Bassett who loves the games and the unique horror of the series. Michael and I had an opportunity to talk about his history with the series, how he came to work on the film, another game to movie adaptation he'd love to do, preserving the integrity of Heather Mason's character, and what exactly would be chasing him through the town of Silent Hill, along with much more. To listen, either update your PixlTalk feed through iTunes, or use the download link or player to the right. Headphones are suggested as the interview was conducted over the phone and Michael's voice can be tough to hear given the background noise. A big thanks goes out to PR representative Kelly Byke for the interview opportunity as well as PixlBit staff members, Julian Titus, Travis Hawks, Daniel Iverson, Patrick Kijek, and Chessa DiMola who helped prepare interview topics.

Well, it's official. Nick and Chessa now have their copy of Borderlands 2 and have spent quite a bit of time online with fellow PixlTalker, Jason Ross, hunting vaults. Joaquim, despite not having Borderlands 2, still joins in on the Borderlands fun with his GOTY copy of the original game. The crew serves up some comparisons of the two games, talks their experiences with both, and for good measure, Nick even throws in his 2 cents on the latest from Team Ninja, Dead or Alive 5. Following the extensive Borderlands 2 discussion comes some heavy discussion on the odd decision to release Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U, instead of the Trilogy that's planned for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We round things out with the media's polarizing reaction to Resident Evil 6. No one has played the game, but demos and gameplay videos are enough to dissuade the entire crew from touching the latest entry with a ten foot pole. After checking out the episode, hit the comments section below and tell us your thoughts on Borderlands 2, the Mass Effect Trilogy, Resident Evil 6, or anything else that might be on your mind. We'd love to hear it!

After making a few predictions last week, Jason and Nick sit down to discuss the results of Nintendo's Wii U Press Event and the events that have followed. Nintendo TVii gets some air time and its potential operability is discussed in detail. The conversation also covers the pricing structures of the system, as well as the strength of the launch line-up and window. After the basics are covered, the Bayonetta 2 fiasco is discussed in detail as well as the current perception of Nintendo in the marketplace. We finish things off with Jason badgering Nick about Borderlands 2 and Nick's near-complete progress of Xenoblade and how significant of a grind is left to finish up the game. Tune in for this informative and insightful episode of PixlTalk by using the links or player to the right! Please send any reader mail or comments to pixltalk@pixlbit.com or sound off in the comments!

We talk Xenoblade, Mass Effect 3, and Borderlands 2. As the title indicates, we take on the "Girlfriend Mode" controversy head on and discuss just how ridiculous the outrage of the comments were. Later in the show, the Wii U is a hot topic yet again as the crew speculates what they were expecting of today's Nintendo press conference. It has been quite an uneventful week, but we're still playing video games. JD, Jason, and Joaquim talk about their experiences with what they're currently playing. We then introduce a new segment which rumors say is called "Rumor Mongering," and then head on to discuss the iOS release of "The World Ends with You", and end the podcast with a quick chat on the supposed Wii U release date leak by PDP.

After last week's brief discussion of New Super Mario Bros. 2, Jason has quite a bit more to add after picking up the game at retail. Nick delves into Papo & Yo and Joaquim talks Pro Evolution Soccer. What we've been playing gives way to a bit of news discussion, focused mainly around the ABC bankruptcy of OnLive and its prompt segue to a new investor. Finally, we wrap the show with a bit of Mario-related trivia in honor of the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2 and the early discussions of the episode. Tune in and enjoy! If you're new to PixlTalk - we want to hear from you! Send us some reader mail, trivia questions, and let us know what you think about the show. After a hiatus due to vacations and general life stuff, Nick, Chessa, and Jason reunite for the seventy-fourth episode of PixlTalk. We kick things off with a bit of conversation on the Zelda symphony and segue into what we're all playing. The bulk of the cast is dedicated to the various announcements at Gamescom 2012, primarily Sony's news. If you want to hear about the Sony "cross" blitz, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Wii U, and more, click the download link to the right and enjoy!

The original (well, sort of) crew of PixlTalk is back this week as they reclaim the podcast that has been under the loving care of our previous two crews for the past few months. Coming back into the show we wanted to do something new and fresh that would shake up the original format and keep things moving at a steady rate. The new show is broken down into segments, which include What's in the News, The Rant, and a Retro Spotlight, among many others, and the list of segment ideas keeps growing! Each week the crew, consisting of Nick and Chessa DiMola, Jason Ross, and Joaquim Mira will be choosing from a handful of these new topics in the hopes of keeping it interesting and (more honestly) to prevent us from hopelessly wandering off-topic into mindless banter...we make no promises on keeping it together at the end, however. Just a warning. This week we start off with four segments, What are You Playing, What's in the News, Retro Spotlight, and a bit of Trivia. We explore the 3DS XL reveal, Halo 4's staggering memory requirement, discuss A Link to the Past, and even get to hear Jason being attacked by his cat. Please let us know what you think about the show and the new format, and leave us ideas for new segments if you happen to have them. Also, don't forget to check out the brand new podcasts from the previous PixlTalk crews, Push Start to Continue and Nerds Without Pants (debuting tomorrow!).

It’s the end of the Tri-Force as we know it! That’s right, this is the final PixlTalk hosted by Julian, Rob, and Patrick. Stay tuned at the end of the episode for the official announcement of our new show, Nerds Without Pants. We don’t leave you on a sour note, though. We talk about sooo many games, including Lollipop Chainsaw, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Apple Jack 2, and Julian’s reaction to the Mass Effect 3 ending, three months late. Then we move into the sequel to the Popcast! In that episode, we talked about pop culture properties we’d like to see turned into games. This time around, we talk about games we’d like to see move into other forms of media. Just like Professor Zoom, the Reverse Flash, we present you with the Reverse Popcast. Julian and Rob have some sensible ideas when compared to the insanity that Patrick comes up with, considering that his ideas are harmful to children, adults, the elderly, and stunted monkeys. Also: Statham Sightings(tm)! We’ve had a blast bringing you our version of PixlTalk. Look forward to the new incarnation of the show, and come back for the first episode of our new PixlBit podcast: Nerds Without Pants. The Tri-Force is dead. Long live Nerds Without Pants! Featured Music: Joan Jett and the Blackhearts-Cherry Bomb The Dickies: Banana Splits (Kick-Ass film version)

E3 has come and gone and it’s time to focus on what’s really important, the games. This week we have a casual discussion covering what we’ve been playing and what we hope to play in the near future. We also delve off to discuss how 2013 is shaping up to be one of the craziest years ever for game releases, and the ludicrous notion that unfinished games receive awards at E3. As always we hope you enjoy and let us know what you think in the comments below.

Hey, it's Rob. Since Julian is still in a state of orgasmic coma from his Vegas shenanigans, I'll be spearheading this podcast. It's like Omar Bradley handing the keys over to George Patton for the invasion of Normandy, but f**k it, my body is ready. We talk about our impressions of E3, and Julian explains exactly what his issue was with the show. We discuss our interest and confusion over the Wii U as well as other games that excite us going forward. After that we talk about what we've been playing which leads into stories of amateur surgery, Julian's stance on zombies, comics, and then we round it out with Julian spilling the beans on his wild and wacky trip to Vegas. Oh, and I make tons of awkward passes at Patrick. Featured Music: The Lonely Island featuring Justin Timberlake: D*ck In A Box The Lonely Island: Lazy Sunday

At this point, we've nearly reached the end of our E3 journey. Without being on the show floor to get our hands on the games, we've all just been spectating and deriving as much information as we can from those who are experiencing the show first hand. With another disappointing showing from Nintendo and a general lack of new items at the show, the conference is wearing on this crew's optimism. Come listen in on a discussion that goes beyond the bounds of E3, addressing some of the root industry-wide issues that could really be improved.

Nintendo revealed some of their Wii U plans and gave us an idea of where they're looking to take their business in the coming months, but they were seemingly holding back. Find out what Nick, Chessa, and Jason thought of the conference, E3 thus far, and the potential challenges of Nintendo's new system when it launches later this year. Check back tomorrow for further thoughts on the show.

For tonight, the Microsoft crew consisting of Esteban, Joaquim, JD, and Angelo met to talk over the press conference and the EA and Ubisoft shows. At roughly 35:14 the Sony crew, consisting of Esteban, JD, and Patrick kick off their conversation around the same shows, swapping the Sony conference in for the Microsoft one. Finally, the Nintendo crew featuring Nick, Chessa, Jason, and Joaquim discuss the EA and Ubisoft conferences as well as the Nintendo Direct from Sunday and their predictions for tomorrow's conference. Check out their portion of the show starting at 1:15:10. Check back tomorrow for more from the various crews and some new members of the staff!

You ever feel like part of you was missing? Well that’s how we felt here at PixlTalk without our cohort Jesse ‘the Jammer’ Miller, but it’s all good now … because he’s back! Alright maybe we’re being a bit dramatic, but it’s good to have him back with the Hell Block Heroes. He couldn’t have picked a better time; its pre E3 week and you know what that means – strap in everyone – we’re heading to speculation station! Ok grab a drink and get cozy because this one is a doozy. Since we are talking about E3, we thought it would be appropriate to mirror their schedule. That means Microsoft is first – What the heck are these guys going to show this year? We have a few ideas, but ultimately their presentation is up for grabs. One thing is for certain though we can likely expect more awkward Kinect demonstrations, I can hardly wait. Next is Sony, between developments with the PSN, cross platforming from the PS3 to the Vita, and a slew of new games it should be an interesting conference. Finally there’s the one we’ve all be waiting for Nintendo. Nintendo has a lot to prove this year, good or bad. We’ll undoubtedly see a solid collection of new titles for the 3DS, but what everyone is really interested in is the Wii-U. It’s time for Nintendo to finally reveal the curtain and show us what this baby can do. You’ll hear our current thoughts on the Wii-U, the new console generation as a whole, and what games we expect Nintendo to showcase. Sure we’ve covered the big 3, but it’s not over yet. In addition to talking about what we expect to see at the conferences, we also share what games were most excited to see, after all we are fans too. Yes, it’s going to be a great E3, and possibly the last E3 that is game centric for some time to come. How do you think we did? Were we on point with our predications? Or, did we fail miserably? What about you? What games are you most excited to see? What or who do you think will steal this year’s E3? Let us know in the comments below.

Various technical difficulties, internet ghosts, and Rob operating at 40% capacity can’t stop the Tri-Force crew from making their appointed podcast rounds. This week, we are joined by a very special guest—John Gholson from movies.com! He joins the rest of the crew for a veritable smorgasbord of sumptuous geekery. We also answer your questions, talk about what we’ve been playing, get into some movie discussion, and throw some comic book love your way. Rob kicks off the main topic of the show as we chat about all things digital. How does digital distribution affect game collectors and archivers? What happens to your digital purchases when their format is no longer supported? We also look at the benefits of going digital, especially when it comes to older games getting new releases and indie developers getting their games seen and played. Rob was running on fumes, but through the magic of technology and "special" medicine we brought him back. He sounds like he’s operating at 67% capacity! And if you didn’t hear a lot of Patrick this week it’s only because he was playing Diablo 3 the whole time. Probably. Oh, and if you want to enjoy more entertaining anecdotes from John, follow him on Twitter @gholson. He left you this special gift, sketched during the podcast: Featured Music: Daft Punk-The Grid Within Temptation-Shot in the Dark

Why so serious? That’s what the Joker would ask us if he’s listened to our last few podcasts. So this week we decided to take a step back, get off our pedestals and just talk about games. We take a look at some recent titles such as Diablo III, and some older ones as well. Esteban also talks about how he finally gave in and played League of Legends (and you should too!). In addition we take a quick look at what’s in store for gamers in the future discussing; the Elder Scrolls MMO announcement, God of War’s heresy with adding multiplayer, and the strange amalgamation of PlayStation characters known only as PS All Stars. You've heard what we have to say about these upcoming games, but let us know what you think in the comments below.

It's time for another Tri-Force edition of PixlTalk! This week, we read your questions, spend some time talking about The Avengers, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, and Diablo III. Then, we head into the tabernacle and discuss the Holy of Holies. Well, not exactly, but we do talk about religion, gaming, and personal beliefs and mantras that we go to when we play video games. Deep stuff for sure, but we keep things light, with amusing anecdotes about addictive gaming loops, games we play to exorcise our demons (read: games we play when we're pissed off), the portrayal of religion in video games, and much much more. Like, WAY much more! It's an epic edition of PixlTalk that flirts with the 3 hour barrier. If you can get through this podcast in one go, blessings be upon you, my child. We hope you enjoy this more thoughtful look at a rather taboo subject. Check back in two weeks for our discussion on digital distribution. Amen. Featured Music: Team Teamwork- M.O.P.-Ante Up (Battle!) Florence + the Machine- Bedroom Hymns R.E.M.-Losing My Religion

I think it’s safe to say that most of us love music. Regardless of age, culture, or region music plays an integral part in our lives. It evokes such strong personal emotions yet appeals to such a wide audience. Why is it then – with music being such an important facet of our lives – that it often goes unnoticed when attached to other media forms? This week we look to rectify that, discussing the importance of video game soundtracks. We discuss the brilliance of older 8-bit classics, and our thoughts on more contemporary pieces. Has there been a decline in the use of musical scores in games? Or has the industry/technology simply gotten better at naturally melding music and gameplay? What about music rhythm games, what role do they play in the industry? Are they past their heyday, or is resurgence possible given time? We share a lot of our favorite tracks and the memories they bring back. Please feel free to share some of your favorite tracks and memories as well. Also be sure to check out JD’s and Esteban’s blog posts as they’re both great reads. It's time for another installment of PixlTalk! Julian wrote a blog series about the future of video games, and that's the impetus for this discussion by the Tri-Force crew. Before that, we take some listener questions, talk some games we've been playing, what would be a good entry-level horror movie, and adventures in indie game store shopping. Then the crew put some garbage into their Mr. Fusion and take a trip into the future to see what's in store for all of us as gamers. We have a lot to say about what we hope games will look like in the next generation and beyond, and touch briefly on the topic of digital distribution. We'll be hitting that subject in depth down the road, so please look forward to it! Also, what impact could tablets have on the console market, and what do the guys want to see in the far flung future? Spoilers: Star Trek is mentioned a lot. There's all of this, plus Rob openly mocks Julian's love for Felicia Day, and Patrick gets a beer! Check out the Euclideon tech demo Julian brings up, and if you want more info on Interstellar Marines you can click right here. Ten episodes in, and the Tri-Force crew is just getting warmed up! See you in the future! Featured Music: Alan Silvestri-Back to the Future Main Theme Daft Punk-Recognizer The Incredible Moses Leroy-Beep Beep Love

Downloadable Content has been a mixed bag for the games industry. There are instances where it’s implemented beautifully into the game, helping to expand our favorite experiences, while at other times the games themselves have been compromised to make way for DLC. When is DLC a good thing? When is it dangerous to gaming? Find out this week on PixlTalk.
