Eight years after their divorce, Michael McKee allegedly told Monique Tepe he could kill her at any time. Now he's charged with her murder — and the murder of her husband Spencer. Robin Dreeke, former FBI special agent and behavioral analysis expert, breaks down the unsealed affidavit in the case against the Illinois vascular surgeon accused of driving 900 miles to execute the couple in their Weinland Park home on December 30th. The documents reveal alleged strangulation and sexual assault during the marriage, years of threatening statements reported by witnesses, and a surveillance trip to their property while they were at a football game three weeks before the killings. McKee faces four counts of aggravated murder with firearm specifications including the use of a suppressor. Robin explains what the behavioral pattern tells us about obsession that doesn't fade, why high professional intelligence doesn't translate to criminal sophistication, and what Monique's gut reaction at halftime of that Big Ten Championship game tells us about how victims sense danger before they can prove it.#MichaelMcKee #MoniqueTepe #SpencerTepe #TepeMurders #RobinDreeke #TrueCrimeToday #ColumbusOhio #FBI #DomesticViolence #AggravatedMurderJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? The Timbisha Shoshone Tribe just held an event to commemorate 25 years since the landmark legislation outlining a historic co-stewardship agreement between the tribe and the National Park Service in Death Valley. The tribe's name is on the entrance sign to the park. At the same time, the Trump administration is calling for the removal of informational plaques in the visitor center that tells the tribe's story. The sign's removal is one of almost 20 at National Park sites around the country, including Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument, the site of the allied tribes' decisive victory over George Armstrong Custer and U.S. Army's 7th Cavalry Regiment. We'll talk to tribal representatives about how the information in National Parks was developed and what message removing it sends. GUESTS Dorothy FireCloud (Rosebud Sioux Tribe), retired assistant director of Native American affairs for the National Park Service Otis Halfmoon (Nez Perce), retired National Park Service employee Mandi Campbell (Timbisha Shoshone), tribal historic preservation officer for the Timbisha Shoshone Tribe Gheri Hall (Blackfeet), co-director of the Tribal Historic Preservation Office for the Blackfeet Tribe Break 1 Music: This Land (song) Keith Secola (artist) Native Americana – A Coup Stick (album) Break 2 Music: Wahzhazhe (song) Scott George (artist) Killers of the Flower Moon Soundtrack (album)

Her car was found parked in a rest area on the road leading up to the Santiam Pass just north of Albany, Oregon, and slightly east of the I-5. The red-and-white Rambler had no external damage, and it was locked. No blood. No sign of struggle. There were a few personal items belonging to Jan Whitney. There were no keys. In processing the Rambler, state police I.D. technicians lifted a good latent print from one of its hubcaps. With the technology available in 1968, a single latent print was worthless to detectives unless they had a suspect's print to compare it to.Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/theserialkillerpodcastWebsite: https://www.theserialkillerpodcast.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/theskpodcastInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/serialkillerpodX: https://x.com/serialkillerpodSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/the-serial-killer-podcast. The Oglala Lakota tribal president banned U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Red Lake Band of Ojibwe officials say ICE can't operate on their Minnesota reservation without prior consultation. A number of tribes are waiving tribal ID fees and reaching out to secure their members' citizenship documents. Dozens of tribes are offering guidance for Native Americans who encounter ICE agents. The actions are part of the response by tribes and prominent Native organizations as more stories surface of Native residents tangling — and even being detained — in the ICE crackdown in Minneapolis and elsewhere. In this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're talking about covers – those magical moments where one artist takes another's song and makes it their own…Wait, we said that in the monologue of last episode. Well it's true! We had so many songs to talk about that we decided to jump back into the trenches and talk about more of those moments where one artist grabs a song and turns it upside down, inside out, or straight into gold…or garbage. We still have a lot to say on this topic since we didn't get to discuss Jeff Buckley's haunting version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, Manfred Mann having a number one hit with a Springsteen song while Springsteen has never had a number one hit himself, Weezer and Toto covering each other, Whitney Houston's enormous hit with a Dolly Parton song, and more. And as always, we've got some thoughts on music news and a song to send to the electric chair. It's our first ever two part episode so sit your butt down and turn that volume UP. This one is personal because I knew and worked alongside Trooper Chadwick LeCroy when I was an Atlanta Police Officer. Chad and I served together in Zone 2, and later I had the privilege of working with him when he joined the elite Georgia State Patrol Nighthawks DUI Task Force. He was one of the good ones – the kind of officer you wanted backing you up, the kind of man who made the badge mean something. On December 27th, 2010, Chad was murdered during what should have been a routine traffic stop. He pulled over a broken taillight on Bolton Road in northwest Atlanta. The driver was Gregory Favors, a thirty-year-old career criminal with eighteen prior arrests and ten felony convictions. Favors fled, crashed his car, and when Chad approached on foot – without drawing his weapon – Favors fired three shots through the passenger window. One bullet struck Chad in the neck. He died in the ambulance on the way to Grady Memorial Hospital. But here's what makes this case so infuriating: Gregory Favors should have been locked up. He'd been arrested just seventeen days earlier and was out on a nineteen-thousand-dollar bond despite pretrial services recommending he be held without bail. Three times in 2010, the system said he was too dangerous to release. Three times, judges ignored those recommendations. On the morning Chad was killed, Favors missed his court hearing. He should have been in jail, but instead he was free to murder a good man. The investigation was swift – dashboard camera footage captured everything. Favors stole Chad's patrol car, dumped it on Gun Club Road, and was arrested by Atlanta PD officers. After nearly four years of legal proceedings, he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty and received life without parole plus fifty-five years.Chad LeCroy was the first Georgia State Trooper killed by gunfire in thirty-five years. He left behind his wife Keisha, sons Bret and Chase, and a law enforcement family that still feels his loss. A bridge over the Chattahoochee River now bears his name, and a scholarship in his memory helps new troopers get their education. This is the story of how system failures cost a hero his life, and why there really are no such things as "routine" traffic stops. In memory of Trooper First Class Chadwick Thomas LeCroy, Badge #744. End of watch: December 27, 2010.

Winston Churchill once said, “Success is going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm.” That's a nice sentiment—I mean, by and large it's good to let failure be a learning experience, to not let it discourage you from following your dreams. But…hear me out here: What if you're just a hot mess? What if every time you go from one failure to the next, you leave a pile of bodies in your wake? Can you be a little TOO good at failure? Should you sometimes maybe acknowledge “Hey, maybe this thing I'm trying to do isn't one of my strengths”? I think some of the people in this week's episode would have left the world a better place if they'd thrown in the towel.Registration is now open for CrimeWave 2.0! Bryan Kohberger studied crime for a living. Michael McKee allegedly studied his ex-wife's home for hours before he came back to kill her. Both believed preparation was protection. Both were wrong.Kohberger—the criminology doctoral student who pled guilty to the Idaho student murders—turned his phone off during the killings but created a traceable return route when it came back online. McKee allegedly achieved a 17-hour phone blackout by leaving his device at the hospital where he worked. On paper, that's smarter. In practice, police tracked his vehicle arriving in Columbus before the murders and leaving after. They found it in his workplace parking lot with fresh scrape marks where a sticker had been hastily removed. The pattern goes deeper. Kohberger's phone pinged near 1122 King Road 23 times in the months before the murders. All between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. He was watching. McKee allegedly made a reconnaissance trip to the Tepe home on December 6, 2025—24 days before the murders—spending hours on the property while the family was at the Big Ten Championship game. According to the affidavit, Monique Tepe left the game early, upset about something involving her ex-husband. She may have seen him on her security cameras. The indictment says McKee used a suppressor. That's why no one heard shots. But the ballistics matched anyway. NIBIN linked the gun found at his Chicago condo to casings at the scene. Intelligence creates arrogance. Arrogance creates blind spots. And the system only needs one mistake.#TrueCrimeToday #BryanKohberger #MichaelMcKee #SpencerTepe #MoniqueTepe #IdahoStudentMurders #ColumbusOhio #Premeditation #CriminalMindset #JusticeForVictimsJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Two men. Two elite educations. Two alleged murder sprees months apart. Bryan Kohberger—criminology PhD, studied crime scene processing at the doctoral level—pled guilty to killing four Idaho students in November 2022. Michael McKee—vascular surgeon with more than a decade of surgical training—stands charged with murdering his ex-wife Monique Tepe and her husband Spencer in December 2025. The methods allegedly used in both cases reveal a chilling pattern. Both men allegedly turned off or abandoned their phones during the murder window. Both allegedly surveilled their targets beforehand—Kohberger's phone pinged near the victims' house 23 times over four months; McKee allegedly spent hours on the Tepe property during a reconnaissance visit while the family was out of town. Both allegedly used vehicles that became key evidence despite countermeasures. And both allegedly believed their intelligence made them exceptions to the rule. The indictment against McKee includes a six-year specification for using a firearm suppressor. A silencer. That's why no neighbors heard shots. That's why no one called 911 until Spencer didn't show up for work the next morning. If the allegations are true, this was equipment procurement for murder. Professional-grade planning for a deeply personal crime.Kohberger left DNA on a knife sheath. McKee allegedly left a ballistics match through NIBIN. The smartest thing either could have done was the one thing obsession wouldn't allow: nothing. This episode breaks down the pattern of educated killers—what they get right, where they fail, and why intelligence becomes its own trap.#HiddenKillers #BryanKohberger #MichaelMcKee #TepeFamily #IdahoMurders #EducatedKillers #Premeditation #CriminalPsychology #TrueCrimePodcast #DomesticViolenceJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
A judge just confirmed what victims' families feared most: under Idaho's current law, Bryan Kohberger could legally profit from telling his story. The same applies to Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell. The statute that's supposed to prevent this hasn't been updated since 1978 — and it shows. This week, Idaho Senator Tammy Nichols introduced legislation to modernize the state's Son of Sam law after the Moscow student murders and the Daybell cult killings put Idaho in the national spotlight. The bill unanimously advanced out of committee. But why did it take this long? And will it actually work? The original Son of Sam laws were born in 1977 when serial killer David Berkowitz was offered a massive book deal within 24 hours of his arrest. New York passed legislation the very next day, and 42 states followed — including Idaho. But the Supreme Court gutted these laws in 1991, finding them too broad to survive First Amendment scrutiny. Most states never fixed the constitutional problems. Idaho was one of them.Today, the true crime industry generates hundreds of millions of dollars annually. Podcasts, streaming documentaries, and social media monetization didn't exist when Idaho's law was written. The five-year escrow period means convicted killers can potentially receive media profits if victims' families don't file civil lawsuits in time. Meanwhile, Kohberger received over $28,000 in jail donations while families argued in court over who should pay for their daughters' urns.We break down the full history, the Supreme Court decision that changed everything, and exactly what the new Idaho bill does — and doesn't — accomplish. For the families of Kaylee, Maddie, Xana, Ethan, Tylee, JJ, and Tammy, this fight is far from over.#SonOfSamLaw #BryanKohberger #IdahoMurders #LoriVallowDaybell #ChadDaybell #TrueCrimePodcast #VictimRights #MoscowIdaho #KayleeGoncalves #CriminalJusticeJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? I also dig into how strong and compelling the ongoing chase for MJF's world title has been. This was outstanding TV.

In this Listener Q&A episode of The Wright Report, Bryan answers sharp questions about who is really driving the Minneapolis protests, why some activists openly admit they do not care about criminal backgrounds, and how ideology has turned tragedy into something resembling a cult movement. He then tackles major concerns about ICE body cameras, the risks and realities of Kill Switch technology in modern cars, and President Trump's lawsuit against JPMorgan over alleged political de-banking. Bryan also addresses viral claims involving Bill Gates, meat consumption, parasites, and tick-borne allergies, separating evidence from speculation. The episode closes with rare insight into how the CIA would rebuild intelligence operations in Venezuela, explaining recruitment, counterintelligence, and covert action in plain language drawn from Bryan's own experience. What makes a family member turn killer? Three active cases are forcing that question into focus. Nick Reiner stands accused of stabbing his parents, director Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, to death at their Brentwood home. He has a documented history of schizoaffective disorder, eighteen rehab stays, and a 2020 mental health conservatorship. His attorney withdrew while insisting Nick is "not guilty of murder"—signaling an insanity defense. Paul Caneiro is on trial in New Jersey for the 2018 murders of his brother Keith, sister-in-law Jennifer, and their two children at the family's Colts Neck mansion. Prosecutors say financial desperation drove the killings after Keith discovered Paul stealing from their businesses. Testimony this week included the final phone call between the brothers and graphic details about the children's injuries. Michael McKee, a vascular surgeon whose medical license had expired, pleaded not guilty to four counts of aggravated murder in the shooting deaths of his ex-wife Monique Tepe and her husband Dr. Spencer Tepe. Ballistic evidence allegedly ties a gun from McKee's property to the crime scene. All three cases involve family members. All three involve alleged warning signs that went unheeded. And all three leave the same question: what should families do when troubled becomes dangerous?#NickReiner #PaulCaneiro #MichaelMcKee #RobReiner #KeithCaneiro #SpencerTepe #MoniqueTepe #FamilyMurder #TrueCrimeToday #MurderTrialJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Cari Farver vanished without a trace in 2012, but what followed was a years-long digital nightmare that left friends, family, and investigators questioning everything they thought they knew. After her disappearance, texts and messages began pouring in from Cari's accounts, angry, erratic, and sometimes cruel, painting a picture of a woman on the run. But as the harassment escalated, a darker truth slowly emerged: someone else was pulling the strings.
