A mini-series where we learn about our hobbies: starting with Kat trying to introduce Amara to the world of wrestling. Is this a new era for our K-Pop princess of tech? Intent vs literal translations are the topic of today's podcast where we delve into the world of localization and making technology more accessible and useful (depending on where your users are based globally).

Sometimes the best way to achieve goals is to slow down. Let's stop running at unrealistic speeds; failing fast is not healthy, nor does it work for everyone, so we are here to say goodbye to toxic mantras (especially in the tech space) and ways of working in 2022

Leading into the new year, we take a deep dive into what we have personally learnt about ourselves and where we want to grow in our lives, careers and relationships.New year, new me, new beginnings and learning to let go and grow. In the fast-paced world of tech and expectations to always be in survival mode, we talk about the need to stop and process. To sometimes accept that survival comes from taking a break and healing from the struggles we have gone through.Sometimes the best view of life is from the ground and that's ok :)

Somewhat belatedly we take a meander through the debacle that was the Basecamp self inflicted implosion. Rather than Kat and Amara talk about recruiting and recruitment as outsiders making guesses about how it all works, it seems a much better idea to invite an actual recruiter onto the program to talk about the process of profesional recruitment in the tech sector and the challenges women face.Many thanks to Shini for tolerating our inane questions and being a most excellent guest.

Kat and Amara dive into the issues of getting a job in tech, because to become a Women in Tech one must first get hired before they can slay all before them!. First part of a series looking at the whole recruitment saga with advice, anecdotes, and almost certainly a few digressions from Kat.

Ashfia, Kat, and Amara dive into the topic of microagressions, looking at what they are and how they impact the lives of women and PoC working in tech and how we, as leaders in the tech space as women, can help combat their presence. 

It may not be one of the first things people would pick from a list of skills effective leaders need, but empathy is a genuinely underrated skill that is so vital for leaders to cultivate. Kat and Amara discuss their perspectives on it, having it, demonstrating it, and being women leaders in tech where "Tech Bro" culture and toxic behaviour has devalued the skill historically. 

Happy New Year!Here we are with our first episode of 2021. Kat and Amara discuss the recently passed festive period, then dive into why finding mentors at work is important through all phases of your career, no matter how senior or junior you are or what you're hoping to achieve from it.This goes double for women, finding strong, positive, role modes who can show you just what is possible is key. Its so much harder to do something if you never see it being done by someone like you. 

Amara and Kat take some time out of the usual episode schedule to talk Christmas, how they're celebrating, what it means to them, and what it means at the end of *this* year. 

Can goals help you achieve what you want? how to set them? what do they mean to you... these questions and more are debated by our hosts, once more joined by Ashfia who lands our main topic on Goal Setting this week.

Our intrepid hosts return to the recently charted territory of how we all deal with Imposter Syndrome.  Unexpectedly, their initial forrays to that land resonated with a lot of people and exposed the struggles of some people to others who'd never heard of it. 

Kat forces Amara, an avid Android fan, to watch the (well, one of) Apple product launch events. Kat lusts after the new Apple Watch, and both enjoy the slick presentation and thrill at the representation shown on stage. Pale, Male, and Stale it was not!However, this allows for a good transition into our main topic, which is what's behind that representation on stage. Is it companies being cynical or do they believe in diversity, when we benefit from that, being favored as a spokesperson for a company, how do we feel, and really, does it matter why?, when seeing so many possible models on stage for young people looking to get into tech can only be empowering. 

Firstly, our intrepid hosts Ashfia, Kat, and Amara pontificate over their love of gadgets and shiny technology.Then, swerving into a more serious topic, we talk to our first guest ever! Nitasha Syed about how you can Find your Voice as a woman in tech, find your confidence at work, and how to become confident in yourself as a person, a woman, in a working environment. Additionally, Kat learns she is not a good interviewer, and some people have impressive bladders! 

We've probably all suffered from it, as an affliction it refuses to leave us alone, how do our hosts feel about it!. Join us as we discuss it
