Welcome back! I am back after a crazy summer. Today I give you a update on the show and were I have been as well as welcome on Matt Vague from the Fairweather friends podcast as a guest host. Matt and I discuss the Seahawks getting their season started and how week 1 went. We then moved on to next week in Pittsburgh. We talk Mariners and what we think of the prospects already up and the ones who look like they have a future in Seattle. Thanks for tuning in. Seahawks- Seahawks lose 2 legends... Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor both released. These are the poster boys for what I think Seahawks football should be about. Part of that to me is not about football. These 2 just show what it is to be a great man, a great leader and at the same time a great NFL player. They will be missed immensely but I look forward to seeing what they do going forward off the field. There have been some great tributes to these guys tweeted out the last week or so and I just want to thank both those guys for the service and joy they have brought the city and the fans of the Seahawks. Put them both in the Ring of Honor ASAP. There is no replacing these 2 for the Hawks but they are doing what they can... including Signing Ziggy Ansah DE 1yr/ 8 million with incentives to 12million. Signed DT All Woods. - run stopping guy who played for hawks 2011. Sort of a dead time now for a little while however still some signings that could happen. For me. Bucs Gerald McCoy if he is released and possibly Eric berry ( although that's a long shot at best) Mariners- 20-23 6gb in AL West. Last 10. 2-8 Slide back to earth continues Lost 12 of 14 and outscored 103-48 during that time. Including 34-8 in this Boston series. This is much closer to where I expected them to be at the beginning of the year. Its completely okay with me as we are building for the future. Keep building some of these veterans up for trade chips and building these young guys for the future. Felix may be done with the Mariners after IL stint. Struggled the last couple starts and ERA is 6.52 in 38.2 innings just looks like he might need to sit or change of scenery. Ups Brennan still pitching good. 2.11 ERA and .178 average against. Kikuchi- pitched lights out last 2 starts. At least 7 kings and 1 run in both. D. Santana- .409 in last 7 games 2 hr. 6 rbis. Narvaez - .412 last 5 games. Downs Tim Beckham- .095 last 5 games Vogelbach- .136 0hrs. Last 6 games. Haniger-. 143 last 7 games and .200 in last 25 games. SWARsak- 21 era in 2 games this last week Felix- 15.95 ERA last 2 starts. 13 runs Teams stats. 1st in Errors with 43 23rd in team ERA , 27th average against. 16th in batting average, 1st in HR, RBIs, 4th in SBs, 14th OBP. So offense is still doing something but not as much and pitching is still the struggle. They called up J.P Crawford and Shed Long this week which is nice for more youth. OAK FOR 2 and Minnesota comes to TMobile park for 4. NBA Playoff- GSW beat the rockets in 6 without KD for the last 1.5 games. Portland moved past Denver in game 7 to reach western conference finals And on the other side MIL takes on Toronto in what should be a good matchup. Pass it to the homies- Favorite memories of Kam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin? For me both of these guys are similar in that one moment doesnt stand out for me. Both of these guys have a large collection of moments. For Doug the amazing and clutch catches and some of the motivational interviews and for Kam the hits the boom, and then for me the leadership of the D. And the pick 6 against the Panthers. Collier (DE, TCU) Strong, tough bull rusher. versatile on inside and outside. Had a 19.7% pressure percentage. Compares to Micheal Bennett #47 (R2) Marquise Blair (S, Utah)- A hammer, hard hitter, sideline to sideline. mini Kam Chancellor. Rob Rang- good catch ability, good range, good tackler. coverage skills need a little work. big hitter. #64 (R2) D.K. Metcalf (WR, Ole Miss) A freak- 6'3 229lbs 4.33 40. mostly ran go routes and needs more development with other routes. Big physical beast. Had a few drop problems. Julio Jones esq? loves football and smart hard worker. #88 (R3) Cody Barton (LB, Utah) tackling machine, plays all 3 LB positions. Real burst, all over the field guy, Rang- blend of size, speed and instincts. needs coverage work, #120 (R4) Gary Jennings (WR, West Virginia) 6'1 fast WR, more slot guy with home run threat. great catch rate 75%. top speed of 21mph Him.and DK ranked as 2,1 in best athletes in WR draft. #124 (R4) Phil Haynes (G, Wake Forest)- big 6'4 322lbs, strong G whom can play multiple positions, good run blocker, 4 yrs starter. durable.and a leader, fluke like from what it sounds. more explosive and fast than fluker. #132 (R4) Ugo Amadi (CB, Oregon) listed as FS but could be slot corner. tough and instinctive, special teams guy, comparable to Lamarcus Joyner. versatile #142 (R5) Ben Burr Kirven UW Small, instinctive always around the ball, great football IQ, special teams guy with upside to be a starter down the road. great in space, fast sideline to sideline, #204 (R6) Travis Homer- RB - Miami Undersized, good pass protection and tough runner. #209 (R6) DeMarcus Christmas- DT - Florida state Run stuffer, big upper body power, upside as a pass rusher up middle. #236 (R7) John Ursua- WR - Oregon Doug Baldwin like skill set. Sticky hands and good YAC guy. overall love the draft for the Seahawks, I think turning 4 picks into 11 is pretty amazing especially considering they didnt move much from next year. Also this is how they draft, quantity is important to them. Doug Baldwin is still considering retirement. it sounds like he is leaning that way based on Pete and John. I hoped he does what's best for him. I want him back but I get it completely so whatever he decides, I'm good with. Goes down as the 2nd best WR in Seahawks history in my book. Ziggy Ansah was in town for a meeting which is a good sign. love to see him come in for a 1 yrs contract. Also maybe another pass rusher type guy, Nick Perry, Earl Mitchell maybe run stuffer, and even Eric Berry? Mariners- 18-15 1gb of Houston in the AL West 3-7 last 10games. Still leading MLB in HRs, RBIs, 2nd in stolen bases, 2nd in walks. 20 more Ks than any other team. 18 in ERA, 12 more Errors than any other team. Ichiro hired as a assistant hitting coach for Mariners and AAA. lastly, Jared Kalenic OF (#53 top100 prospects) prospect for the Mariners whom was acquired in the Cano deal...
