On this special episode of the Black Baseball Mixtape podcast, I sat down with Giants' prospect Scott Bandura. Scott split his 2025 season between Eugene (High A) and Richmond (AA). He held a 271/367/400 slash line between the two divisions, along with 41 stolen bases, 65 RBIs, and 10 home runs. Scott is from inner-city Philadelphia and played on the Taney Little League team that went to the Little League World Series, featuring Mo'ne Davis (Scott was the catcher). He then went on to play at Princeton, where, despite spending three years on campus, he only played one full season before being drafted by the Giants in the 7th round of the 2023 MLB Draft. Scott's superpower is his character and leadership qualities. He learned those at an early age from his parents (Steve and Robin) and carries them with him everywhere he goes. He is a natural leader and wears the title well. Being a leader and team uniter is something he takes great pride in. And it may be those leadership attributes - along with his on-field performance - that take him to the Major Leagues. The Black Baseball Mixtape is in partnership with the Players Alliance, Numbers Game Scorecards, Rebellion Harvest (Sunflower Seeds), and Minority Prospects. Want to join the BBM Discord? In this episode of Chase for 28, Chris and the Podcast Padre cover a jam-packed week of Yankees baseball. From Aaron Judge passing Joe DiMaggio on the all-time Yankees home run list to the shocking news about Anthony Volpe's torn labrum, no stone is left unturned. The conversation swings from historical overlap between Yankee greats like Gehrig, DiMaggio, and Mantle to current struggles with the bullpen and the impact of questionable deadline trades. The duo also debates free-agent targets like Bellinger vs. Grisham, discusses the future of Ben Rice, and takes a hard look at the state of catching depth in the organization.Key Topics Discussed:Opening banter: bullpen woes, Leiter Jr. frustrations, and old-school Mike & the Mad Dog vibesAaron Judge's monster homers in Boston + milestone: passing Joe DiMaggio with 362 HRsQuick math: Judge's chase of Lou Gehrig (493 career HRs)Overlap in Yankee history: Gehrig with DiMaggio, DiMaggio with Mantle, and beyondCurrent Yankees update: 81–65, 3 GB in the AL East, 1st Wild Card spotBullpen collapses vs. Detroit, rebounding in Boston, and standout pitching performancesAnthony Volpe injury news: torn labrum since May + Yankees' mishandlingOswald Peraza quietly shipped to the AngelsDeadline disappointment: Jake Byrd's struggles and bullpen depth issuesFree agent debates: Cody Bellinger vs. Trent Grisham, Ben Rice's future at 1BCatcher market outlook: Gary Sánchez, J.T. The speakers debate Aaron Judge's statistical drop-off in the 2025 season compared to his performance in 2024, arguing that his dip in RBIs is directly related to the departure of Juan Soto. They contrast Judge's numbers with Soto's continued success with the Mets, suggesting that the "Soto effect" on offense was more significant than many initially believed. The conversation touches on the idea that despite Judge's immense talent, having a high-walk, high-impact hitter like Soto in front of him elevated his production to historic levels.
Mark Vientos had an impressive day at the plate with a pair of RBIs and hits, including his 16th home run. He joined Pat McCarthy postgame to discuss his offensive performance.

Jerry and Willie Colon fill in for Boomer and Gio, and spirits are high. The Mets rebounded despite another poor Kodai Senga start, who's now the "human rain delay." They scored many two-out runs, with Mark Vientos red hot. Willie and the guys agree Sean Manaea needs to step up tonight. The game was delayed by Phillies' complaints about parabolic mics, but the Mets responded well. The Yankees won their "lose-lose" series. Andrew Bogusch's update covered the Yankees' win, Jazz Chisholm's 25th homer, Luis Torrens' 5 RBIs, and Francisco Alvarez's potential rehab assignment. Kodai Senga struggled again. Micah Parsons remains a hold-in after Terry McLaurin and Trey Hendrickson's new contracts, but Dak Prescott is unfazed, and Jerry Recco believes Jerry Jones will close a deal. In the final segment, Jerry and Willie discuss Micah Parsons with a Cowboys fan, and Jerry updates his bat situation, confident in the "jacked" exterminator.
Hour 1 Jerry and Willie Colon fill in for Boomer and Gio. The Mets bounced back, despite another poor Kodai Senga start (the new human rain delay), scoring many runs with two outs. Mark Vientos is red hot, and Willie says it's time for the Mets to stack wins; Sean Manaea needs to step up tonight. The game was delayed for 10 minutes because the Phillies complained about parabolic mics. Jerry was impressed with the Mets' response. The Yankees did what they needed to do in a lose-lose series. Andrew Bogusch's first update covers the Yankees' win, Jazz Chisholm's 25th homer, Luis Torrens' 5 RBIs, and Francisco Alvarez's potential rehab assignment. Kodai Senga struggled again. With McLaurin and Hendrickson signed, Micah Parsons is the lone hold-in; Dak Prescott is unbothered, and Jerry Recco believes Jerry Jones will get a deal done. Jerry and Willie discuss paying Parsons with a Cowboys fan and Jerry updates his bat situation (the exterminator was jacked). Hour 2 Jerry and Willie discussed Aaron Rodgers' interview, agreeing he tried with the Jets and expect him to excel in Pittsburgh. Terry McLaurin and Trey Hendrickson secured new contracts. The guys believe the Giants, with Russell Wilson, will surprise people and beat the Commanders. Bogusch provided an update, and Jerry mentioned Willie and Eddie Scozzare considering yoga. The Mets won big, and Cam Schlittler had a good start for the Yankees. Willson Contreras had a dugout meltdown. The hour concluded with a yoga call and a discussion about The Biggest Loser documentary. Hour 3 Willie believes Eddie and Fliegs have untapped athletic potential, but they and Jerry disagree. Jerry wonders what activities people spend a lot on but never master, like golf, with top X responses including sex, marriage, gambling, and skiing. Willie was a bad bowler early in his NFL career. The guys discuss the Jets and Giants' offensive and defensive lines. Bogusch updates on Tommy DeVito being waived by the Giants (Willie and Jerry expect him to be picked up) and plays Rodgers' message to Jets fans. The Yankees and Mets both crushed their opponents. Jerry is concerned about the bullpen tonight if Sean Manaea doesn't pitch deep. LIU is getting paid to play Florida, which helps financially, but Jerry and Willie worry about injuries. Finally, Jerry looks at examples of athletes with one standout season and surprising attendance numbers. Jerry thinks Raleigh, not Aaron Judge, should be MVP. Hour 4 The final hour discusses the Mets' win, Willie's concerns about Mendoza's team, and the Jets possibly claiming Tommy DeVito. Jerry and Willie debate why some college players fail in the NFL and agree not to rush Jaxson Dart. Bogusch's update covers DeVito's cut, the Jets' receiver search, and Yankees/Mets blowout wins. The show also questions Ohio State banning Dave Portnoy, features Willie the Yogi, and concludes with a dessert debate: key lime pie vs. chocolate, and cone vs. cup.
BT argued that the American League MVP race is not the foregone conclusion many believe, especially with the surge of Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh. While acknowledging Aaron Judge's impressive numbers, BT highlighted that Raleigh has surpassed Judge in home runs and RBIs, and their team records are nearly identical. He stated that the MVP award is not just about who has the best overall stats but who is most valuable to their team, and with Raleigh's incredible offensive production from a premium defensive position, he makes a very compelling case for the award.
Fantasy Baseball Live – August 24, 2025 @ 3:00 pmMicrosoft Teams:Segments 1 and 2 – Review of Weekend GamesAdditional Questions:1.Five young kids that we might see soon. Your thoughts for picking up:1)JJ Wetherholt (3B/2B/SS, STL) – The Cardinals have played him at third base seven times this month, and he's been on and off second base this season.2)Spencer Jones (OF, NYY) – He's tied for the lead in home runs in the minor leagues with 32.3)Jonah Tong (RHP, NYM) – Word coming out of New York is this might happen sooner rather than later.4)Payton Tolle (LHP, Bos) – Pitching to a 3.04 ERA across High, Double and Triple-A. He has 133 Ks and 23 walks in 92.1 IP. His fastball topped out at 99 MPH in Friday's start.5)Robby Snelling (LHP, Mia) – Fastball is up to 97 MPH from the left side and is pitching to a 2.73 ERA across Double and Triple-A this season. 2.Nestor Cortes pitched a one-hitter against the Dodgers on Saturday. What? His fastball averaged 90.1 MPH (T 92). Old school baseball?. Really???3.The Mariners released Dylan Moore, who started the season strong (.290, 7 HRs, 13 SB) through mid-May, then cooled off, lost his spot, and now he's cut. Is there anything here if he gets picked up by another MLB team?a.Victor Robles gets reinstated after throwing his bat at a pitcher in a Triple-A game. He takes Moore's spot on the roster. He was a sexy draft pick this season, but a shoulder injury has cost him most of the season, and then, of course, the issue in Triple-A.4. I know Nick Kurtz has the ROY award practically wrapped up in the American League, but will Colson Montgomery receive some votes? In just 41 games, he's hit 12 home runs with 34 RBIs. The 12 home runs are fourth in baseball among all rookies, and the 34 RBIs rank 12th. The 11 players ahead of him have all played twice as many games, with some nearly three times as many. BTW, he's hitting .229 with 44 strikeouts in 41 games (28% K-Rate, 7% BB-Rate) with a poor chase rate.5.What does going 4 for 15 in your first four professional games get you? An 8-year, $67 million contract. That's what Samuel Basallo signed on Friday. It's a deal similar to what Jackson Chourio signed before the start of the 2024 (8-year, $87 million or 30% more). A good deal of the Orioles? What about Basallo?a.Now that he should be up for good (although Kristian Campbell might disagree), how do the Orioles use him? b.Does he get enough at-bats at catcher to retain eligibility this season or at least get it in April of 2026?c.Would the Orioles consider trading Adley Rutschman? Segment 3 – Waiver WireSegments 4 – Closer ReportClose
A third-team All-ACC selection, shortstop Eric Becker led Virginia in hitting (.368) and RBIs (52) in 2025, and his decision to remain a Cavalier was great news for new head coach Chris Pollard.
Hour 1 Boomer & Gio discussed Jaxson Dart's performance and Justin Fields' struggles. C-Lo filled in for Jerry, and the hosts covered Mark Vientos' 3-run HR for the Mets, the Yankees sweeping the Cardinals, and Taylor Swift Super Bowl halftime show rumors. Gio asked Boomer about living in Cincinnati post-career. Hour 2 Boomer discusses Stanton's elbows, Lindor's performance, and Brandon Tierney's questioning of Juan Soto's age, which Boomer suspects is Yankee fan-driven. Gio wonders about age verification. C-Lo's update covers the Mets beating the Mariners (Mark Vientos' 4 RBIs), BT's Soto age comments, and Evan Roberts advocating for A-Rod as Yankees Manager. The Yankees swept the Cardinals (Goldschmidt excelled). Brian Daboll discussed Jaxson Dart, and Shaun Morash has "Jaxson Dart fever." Gronk & Edelman predict the Giants will win 8 or 9 games. Hour 3 Gio shared a NY Post story about a 76-year-old cognitively impaired man who died meeting a chatbot in a New Brunswick parking lot. C-Lo returned with Mets (Lindor 6-game hit streak) and Yankees (sweep of Cardinals) updates, after a caller asked if Brian Daboll uses botox. The hour concluded with a discussion about pickleball injury fears and Jerry's refusal of a massage at Pebble Beach. Hour 4 Talked Caleb Williams and the Bears. Boomer said some Lions players said Dolphins not ready. A caller wonders if Jameis Winston better fit for Jets or if Jaxson Dart will backup Wilson. C-Lo returns for final update and starts with Mets beating Mariners at the Little League Classic. Rob Manfred talked geographical realignment. Joe Benigno on Saturday morning had a caller for 13 minutes complaining about the Mets. Clint Frazier said Yankees drag out injuries. Gronk & Edelman both like the over 5 ½ for Giants wins. The Moment of The Day: He died doing what he loved, ‘chasing tail'. Final segment: could a 17-year-old, 120 lb wrestler take down a 250 lb man?
Baseball's Danny Gardella was no ordinary ballplayer. A compact powerhouse — “not much taller than a fire hydrant,” yet a left-handed pull hitter with undeniable talent — he hit .267 with 24 homers and 85 RBIs in just 169 Major League Baseball games. That blazing two-year stretch with the New York Giants in 1944–45 proved his major-league mettle. But Gardella's story didn't end in the box score. Humble and working-class, he was a true Renaissance man — writing poetry, quoting Shakespeare, Freud, and Dewey, singing opera and vaudeville, boxing Golden Gloves, and defying gravity with acrobatic stunts in the clubhouse and on the field. When many veterans returned after World War II, Gardella's once-promising career faltered. Faced with limited opportunities and bound by baseball's reserve clause, he made a bold move — “jumping” to the Mexican League's Azules de Veracruz in 1946. That leap didn't just cost him his place in Organized Baseball — it catalyzed his fight for justice. In "Dangerous Danny Gardella: Baseball's Neglected Trailblazer for Today's Millionaire Athletes," author Rob Elias recounts how this “little-known but remarkable ballplayer” took the sport's reserve clause to court, sparking a legal battle that would echo through decades. Gardella's act of defiance set the stage in later years for Curt Flood, Marvin Miller, and the struggle for free agency — and ultimately helped birth the modern MLB Players Association. It's a compelling blend of baseball lore, legal drama, and the human story of a forgotten pioneer who dared to challenge the game — and, eventually, changed it forever. PLUS: "Gardella Gardens" - the upper left-field balcony section of the old Polo Grounds, where ardent Giants fans cheered on their favorite player - affectionately nicknamed "Gardenia". + + + SUPPORT THE SHOW: Buy Us a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/goodseatsstillavailable "Good Seats" Store: https://www.teepublic.com/stores/good-seats-still-avalable?ref_id=35106 BUY THE BOOK (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!): "Dangerous Danny Gardella: Baseball's Neglected Trailblazer for Today's Millionaire Athletes": https://amzn.to/4m7tklY SPONSOR THANKS (AND SUPPORT THE SHOW!): Old Fort Baseball Co. In Episode 99 of Tablesetters, we break down the MVP showdown between Shohei Ohtani and Kyle Schwarber and examine the pivotal moments shaping the final stretch of the 2025 MLB season. Ohtani's 41st home run made him the fastest Dodger ever to reach 40 in a season, vaulting him past Schwarber for the National League lead. Schwarber remains close behind, leading all of baseball in RBIs while anchoring the offense for a first-place Phillies team. We dig into their numbers, the context around their production, and what could ultimately decide this year's MVP race. In New York, both the Yankees and Mets find themselves in critical territory. The Yankees have gone 20–31 since mid-June, slipping from the top of the division to fighting for a playoff berth. The offense has stalled, the pitching has lost its edge, and the bullpen has been tested in high-leverage moments. Across town, the Mets remain in the hunt but have been unable to sustain momentum, with Pete Alonso tying Darryl Strawberry's franchise home run record in a game that still ended in defeat. In Seattle, Cal Raleigh is chasing history. His 45th home run tied Johnny Bench's 1970 total for the second-most in a season by a catcher, putting Salvador Perez's record of 48 within reach and raising the possibility of the first 50-homer season ever by a catcher. Bo Bichette's resurgence has reignited the Blue Jays' offense, with a .400 average over his last 27 games pushing Toronto back into the AL East race. We explore how his recent production has reestablished his market value, whether his skill set makes him a true superstar, and why his next contract could exceed 200 million dollars. Also in this episode: – Prospects who could impact the playoff race, led by Phillies right-hander Andrew Painter – Listener poll results on the most intimidating playoff rotations – A closer look at the hottest and coldest hitters around the league – How recent surges and slumps could shift the postseason race Episode 99 delivers the context, analysis, and questions that will shape the postseason conversation. Send us a textSome baseball stories transcend the game itself, becoming legends that remind us why we love this sport. Ryan Heath's April 23, 2007 performance is exactly that kind of story.Imagine a quiet, hardworking kid from a small rural high school who had never hit a grand slam in his life. Then, in one magical doubleheader for Oakland University, he launches three grand slams, adds another home run, and drives in a staggering 14 RBIs. This isn't fiction – it's the incredible true story of a former Buckeye Valley player who made national headlines and found himself featured in Sports Illustrated after doing something that defies belief. What makes Heath's story so powerful isn't just the eye-popping statistics, but the character behind them. Before becoming a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, he was a three-sport athlete who embodied everything coaches hope to develop: humility, grit, and a team-first mentality. His response after the historic performance? "I think I was just trying to hit a sac fly." That tells you everything about who he was as a player and person. For coaches everywhere, this episode delivers a powerful reminder of why we invest countless hours in player development. The spectacular moments that make headlines are almost always built on a foundation of ordinary, consistent effort when nobody's watching. Ryan Heath's once-in-a-lifetime performance demonstrates what happens when preparation meets opportunity, and why character development matters just as much as physical skills. On yesterday's show Joe Giglio made a proclamation to Rob Thomson that if started Max Kepler last night he would scream among other things. Well last night came and Max Kepler was named the starter and he had one of his best nights as a Phillies players. Going 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Now Hugh is asking Joe to apologize to Max Kepler and Rob Thomson for his comments yesterday.
In hour 1, the WIP Midday Show is reacting to Max Kepler having a huge night going 2-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs. So good that Hugh wants Joe to apologize to Kepler. Plus revisiting the comment of Hugh calling Spike a bully and how Spike is taking it a day later.
In his second game back from injury, Max Muncy had four hits, including two homers, and drove in four runs. Not to be outdone, Teoscar Hernandez had two homers and four RBIs of his own. And the struggling Mookie Betts broke out with three hits and three runs scored. It's just one game, but it sure was a fun one! Tube in all season long! Leave a voicemail or text the Friend of the Show hotline!
Joe Flacco is now the Browns' starter, who have 5 QBs. The Giants have 4 QBs, and Russell Wilson's job is secure. We discussed our interview with Wilson at Giants camp, and Gio's belief he was flattering Boomer. Dexter Lawrence requested only waist-up photos. We also talked about household robots. A caller said our podcast is labeled 'explicit.' Jerry's update covered the Mets' loss to the Guardians, despite Pete Alonso's HR and 4 RBIs, and Brett Bady's late error. Kyle Schwarber hit his 40th HR. The Yankees lost to Texas with homers from Pederson and Josh Young. Max Fried felt he didn't help his team enough. Cam Ward enjoys chilling at home. Mike McDaniel joked, "we're another day closer to death." Finally, a caller suggested Mike Francesa replace Aaron Boone, leading Gio to imagine Francesa making a pitching change.

Aaron Judge returns to the Yankees lineup as a DH, keeping Giancarlo Stanton out. Jerry's update included Yankees' loss to Texas, with key homers from Devin Williams and Josh Young. Max Fried struggled, and Brett Baty made a crucial error for the Mets. Aaron Glenn discussed game week prep. Jerry played a clip of "Dan in Warwick" asking about the NY and SF Giants, followed by a video of Eli Manning meeting the SF Giants and Mike Francesa, which Sal then tried to replicate with Dan in Warwick, but it was a dud. Hour 2 Joe Flacco is the Browns' new starting QB, with five QBs on the roster. The Giants have four QBs, with Russell Wilson clearly the starter; we discussed our interview with him at Giants camp, where Gio thought he was flattering Boomer. Dexter Lawrence requested only waist-up photos. We also discussed household robots. A caller noted our podcast is labeled 'explicit'. Hour 3 We discussed NFL teams with the worst Super Bowl odds, including the Jets and Giants at 75-to-1 for their conference. Boomer noted a team often goes from last to first in their division, citing the Bears with Ben Johnson as a possibility. We emphasized the importance of a dynamic quarterback like Josh Allen for the Bills. The Jets and Giants' over/under for wins is 5 ½. Justin Fields faces a new offense, requiring a learning curve. On Episode 989 of Hittin' Season, powered by WHYY, John Stolnis of The Good Phight recaps Wednesday night's awful loss to the Red Sox and tries to get to the bottom of Jesus Luzardo's struggles. Also, Cristopher Sanchez is now a bona fide ace, John goes inside the numbers on what makes him so special. And what are the latest Trade Rumors surrounding the Phils? John breaks down all the latest. Could the Phils move Ranger Suarez or Luzardo this summer? Show Notes: Disastrous loss in the finale Phillies blow a 5-0 lead, HRs from Schwarber, Harper, Castellanos & Stott, Realmuto It's the Phils' first loss in a game they homered five or more times since June 10, 2019. They haven't won three in a row since June 18-20. Blame Realmuto & Luzardo, who had a no-hitter going into the 5th, gives us 6 in the 5th after walking in two runs then serving up a grand slam FELL APART WHILE PITCHING FROM THE STRETCH AGAIN Thomson said they have to keep digging and working on what's wrong with Luzardo, specifically in the stretch Since June 11, opponents have hit .192/.252/.253 with 37 strikeouts and eight walks when there is no one on base against Luzardo. With runners on base, those numbers jump to .339/.443/.576, 16 strikeouts and 11 walks. (Gelb) Gelb says he went back to his old mechanics last night, but it still didn't work Jesus Luzardo says he is working day and night to fix his issues and he says they need to be fixed. He says teams are hitting him hard when he is pitching out of the stretch. He says it is not on JT Realmuto losing that foul ball pop-up. He says he and other Phillies lost it as well. Manager Rob Thomson says Jesus Luzardo lost his concentration. Phillies now 3-8 in Luzardo's last 11 starts They've now given Luzardo 3-0, 4-1 and 5-0 leads in July only to have him lose all 3 of them. He posted a 2.15 ERA in his first 11 starts. He allowed 20 runs in his next two. He made significant mechanical changes when pitching from the stretch, and it's resulted in only a 4.79 ERA over his last nine starts. UNLESS LUZARDO FIGURES THIS OUT, THEIR ENTIRE OFF-SEASON WILL HAVE BEEN A COMPLETE AND UTTER FAILURE The good news is this is a mechanical issue… which would indicate to me it CAN be fixed… but can they fix it in time? PITCH TIPPING: The Red Sox are renowned for doing this. Two pitches later, Story doubled home a run. THIS WAS NOT A STRONG ROB THOMSON GAME Luzardo should have been pulled after the second straight bases loaded walk, but got Jordan Romano up too late… after the game, Thomson admitted that was a mistake Pinch-ran Weston Wilson for Kyle Schwarber in the 10th after Schwarber's RBI single… Wilson, who is not fast… thrown out trying to steal 2nd to end the 10th With Wilson already used, Max Kepler had to face a lefty reliever and watched a called strike three to end the game in the 11th, instead of having Wilson available to pinch hit Rob Thomson on the 5th inning tonight: Said they have to keep digging and working on what's wrong with Luzardo, specifically in the stretch Harper's home run was the 350th of his career Bryce Harper tonight became the youngest of the 8 active players to reach 350 career home runs joining Giancarlo Stanton, Mike Trout, Paul Goldschmidt, Manny Machado, Freddie Freeman, Nolan Arenado, Aaron Judge. Kyle Schwarber's 34 HR are the 3rd-most through 102 games in Phillies franchise history, behind only Ryan Howard in 2006 and Mike Schmidt in 1979 -- both had 36. Cristopher Sanchez is a TRUE ACE: https://www.thegoodphight.com/2025/7/23/24472912/cristopher-sanchez-is-a-real-bona-fide-cy-young-contender WHEELER & SANCHEZ This gives the Phillies a leg-up in the postseason No one can match what the Phillies can do in the playoffs STARK ON SCHWARBER Says he believes Schwarber will be back here 4 years, $100 million is the number… how is he going to have a better deal four years AFTER the first free agent contract??? TRADE DEADLINE LATEST: Jayson Stark on 975 the Fanatic w/ Mikey Miss: Dombrowski wants to use his biggest chips to trade for a big time power bullpen arm controllable beyond this year, Duran, Bautista, no on Miller or Clase If he gets one, it's a right-handed platoon bat that falls into his lap Bullpen arm is more important than a bat Jeff Passan: The Phillies have quietly built up one of the best farm systems in baseball, and president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski's history of trading prospects for impact talent is unmatched. Still, with the Phillies entering a transition phase over the next few years, they aren't likely to sacrifice all of their depth. That complicates their tack at this deadline, because they are among the few teams with the need and capacity to acquire a pitcher of Clase's talent. Same goes for Cade Smith, another Guardian, and the Twins' two frontline relievers, Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax. Getting David Robertson for $6 million certainly helps matters and serves as insurance against objectionable demands on high-end relief pitchers. And yet adding Robertson plus a high-octane relief arm alongside Orion Kerkering and Matt Strahm gives the Phillies a representative back end. If they can also add a right-handed-hitting outfielder with power -- Adolis Garcia is in the mix, and Luis Robert Jr. would play, too -- it will be a successful deadline for a team whose starting pitching is good enough to carry it deep into October. Ruben Amaro & Jim Salisbury on Phillies Show Very interesting stuff on the show from Amaro (doesn't think they'll be able to get a lock down closer), Aiden Miller might be more untouchable than Painter, and the clubhouse talking about Eugenio Suarez (Salisbury). @JohnnyPhisher: Phillies need a RHH OF @Buster_ESPN: A surprise name has emerged in the starting pitcher market: Dylan Cease, who will be eligible for free agency at year's end. Perception of other teams is that the Padres are intent on making a push for the playoffs, and would use Cease to help fill other roster needs. Mets, AL East teams, Cubs among teams that have talked about him. COULD THE PHILLIES DO SOMETHING SIMILAR WITH RANGER SUAREZ OR JESUS LUZARDO? Jo Adell started slow, but on May 6 he hit a 9th inning HR in a blowout that got things going for him. Since then (67 gms) he has a .907 OPS (top 20 in MLB) with 19 HR (T-6th), and his .563 SLG is higher than any Phillies player. An interesting name: Dane Myers. Plays center field for the Marlins. The right-handed 29 year is wailing on lefties: .324/.385/.493, .878 OPS, 2 HRs, 13 RBIs in 78 PAs, 6 doubles. Would be a platoon guy. The Phillies and Padres are two of the many teams that have expressed interest in Steven Kwan, reports Jon Heyman of The New York Post. Both National League contenders are known to be looking for a left field upgrade.

Hour 2 The Knicks' chaotic coaching search continues, with Polymarket showing Rick Brunson as the slight favorite at 26%, while Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson lag at 13% and 1% respectively. The hour concluded with a discussion of early work hours affecting evening plans and news of a hole-in-one winning an Audi at Boomer's charity event. Hour 3 It seems Chris Kreider is headed to the Anaheim Ducks. Reports indicated mutual interest between the Knicks and Kevin Durant at the trade deadline, a move some are calling "here we go again" given the trend of older players not winning championships. This sparks questions about potential big changes to the Knicks roster, with even Rick Pitino suggesting KAT isn't at his best. An older interview with Aaron Rodgers from 2005 highlighted his need to always prove himself, while Russell Wilson spoke at Giants OTAs. Chris Russo criticized SiriusXM for mishandling Michelle Beadle's show takeover by Stephen A. Smith. The Pacers took game 1 after being down 15 to beat OKC. Anthony Richardson injured his shoulder which is good news for Daniel Jones. The Moment of The Day: News promo interrupts Pacers game and Joe Benigno gets in the mix.
