Welcome back all to the BALLS AND BEARDS PODCAST! In today's Season 5 Episode 9, the boys have you covered with a FULL RECAP from what was a very busy start to NFL Free Agency. The Commanders loaded up around young star QB Jayden Daniels, the Bears beefed up & retooled their O-line; plus trades, big signings, and will Aaron Rodgers finally make a decision? Plus the Cowboys & 49ers stand pat, the Eagles lose some key players from their Super Bowl Title-winning defense, and the Seahawks were incredibly active, trading both star WR DK Metcalf & QB Geno Smith, while bringing Sam Darnold. What does it all mean? Who were the big NFL Free Agency winners & losers? The boys have you covered with a full breakdown & recap of all of the exciting off-season activity. Then it's onto the NBA where we are inching closer toward the playoffs. The West has become a jumbled, heated juggernaut as OKC continues to distance themselves from the pack, but the Nuggets, Lakers, surging Rockets, and Grizzlies all find themselves just two games apart while jostling for position between the 2-5 spots. In the East, it's same old same old as the top 6 are pretty well set in stone by this point, and we are trending toward having a pair of historically bad teams make the play-in. Lastly, it wouldn't be an episode without the Golden Beard of the Week Award! Last week Mikee got back in the win column, and then we had a first for this week as both Mikee & Justin had the same nominee! Will their joint-nominee take home the Award or will it be Chris's turn? All of that plus much, much more - including a fun 'March Madness' story from yesteryear as the NCAA Tournament is in full-swing. Hey lifers!Welcome back to Ask Uncut where we answer your life dilemmas! Are you the partner who packs the dishwasher like a Scandinavian architect or a racoon on meth? Carols details here Vibes for the week:Britt Storyworth book Keeshia Netflix Our Little Secret Laura Netflix Killer Sally and Jumbled diaries Then we get into your questions! HUSBAND GOES ON LOTS OF BOYS TRIPS AND I'M RESENTFULMy husband is part of a boys punting club where they put in $20 every week and then use the pool of money to go on an annual boys weekend away. He also has an annual interstate golf trip with a different group of dads. Both these trips are expensive and mean that I am left home with our 3 kids under 4. Am I right to feel resentful that he has these boys trips or are my expectations too high that he should give them up during this stage of life? All my friends are mums to young kids/babies so it’s a lot harder to organise a girls trip and I’d feel guilty to leave the kids for a few nights. Also I would rather spend the time and money on a family holiday or a trip with my husband. My dad never had boys trips, is this just the new normal for our generation? PARTNER COMPLAINS ABOUT MY TOILET SKIDDIESBit of a gross one but I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong here my partner constantly complains that I leave skid marks in the toilet. I’m not going out of my way to leave them there but we have a VERY clingy one year old so going to the toilet in itself is a bit of a challenge at the moment, let alone scrubbing the toilet when I’m done. My partner gets genuinely upset about it and has even gone so far as to call me 'an animal' because of it. Again, I’m not going out of my way to do this and when he brings it up (it comes up a lot), my response is, “it’s a fucking toilet”. Like that’s where the shit is meant to go, right?! Is it really that bad if I leave the odd skid mark on the toilet bowl? BROKEN UP BUT CAN’T CUT TIES AND STILL HANGING OUTMy partner and I split up 3 weeks ago. We dated for 5 1/2 years and had a house, a dog and a cat. It was a mutual breakup and it really came down to wanting different things and a lack of communication. Closer to the end we got quite distant which helped me come to terms with making the decision. After we broke up we started spending time together and talking through things and like we’re dating again. We know we have to cut ties but we’re just enjoying each others company. What do I do? How do I just leave? I’ve moved back with my parents but I’m spending a lot of time at his house now (my old house) I just can’t break ties and he isn’t the one to call it. NO CARD IN WISHING WELL. CAN I BRING THIS UP?We got married about a month ago. Like most weddings we had a wishing well for cards and well wishes. After opening all the cards we noticed there was no card from a couple that attended the wedding (reception and ceremony). Whilst we do not expect a monetary gift we’re a bit taken aback by there not even being a card. It seems somewhat out of character for the couple so we’re wondering if had somehow gone missing. Is there any polite way of bringing this up with the couple or do we just leave it to avoid any awkwardness? I just can not fathom ever attending a wedding and not bringing a card let alone gift. VGK traded Zack Hayes to the Carolina Hurricanes Wednesday in return for future considerations. The lefthanded defenseman had one assist this season for the Henderson (AHL) Silver Knights. He had two goals in the preseason for VGK vs Arizona. It is believed VGK will add Brett Howden to the IR and the team has called up Danil Miromanov from the Silver Knights. We also asked fans to put VGK lines in a blender and they came up with some extraordinary line combos. As we preview tonight's VGK-Pens game we discuss Pittsburgh's Kris Letang, who had his second stroke in less than a decade, and what he means to that franchise. It will be the first game that the Penguins play since his stroke this week and it could be an emotional night in Pittsburgh. VGK was winless in two games against the Pens last season. Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights lost twice over the weekend to Seattle and Vancouver. On Friday night, VGK got out to a slow start as they trailed 2-0 before Bruce Cassidy jumbled the lines and the Golden Knights scored twice. He then re-assembled the lines, but to no avail as the VGK lost 4-2. Cassidy said he wanted to send a strong message as he sat veterans Chandler Stephenson and Jonathan Marchessault for most of the first period. The team came out flat and Cassidy said they weren't strong around the net. On Saturday, Cassidy got about seven good minutes from the team in the first period, then VGK couldn't stay out of the box and gave up three power play goals in the 5-1 loss to the Canucks. Monday night, VGK begins a four game road trip starting in Columbus against the Blue Jackets who have no less than six players on the injured list. Learn more about your ad choices. Yes. The title is correct. After a talk about games and movies, Kale and Connor will talk about the Netflix limited series "Midnight Mass" in its entirety (Jumbled as it will be) This is the longest episode yet, as it covers major plot points and its commentary on religion, community, and afterlife. You will also see Kale and Connor get a bit personal as they open up to their experiences and thoughts on morality, Christianity, and how the show affected them. Remember to rate and subscribe! Topics: World War Z, Dying Light 2, Sifu, Josee the Tiger and the Fish, Midnight Mass.
The final week of the month has arrived and so has the latest edition as there are some interesting storylines percolating in the sports world. On deck: (5:11) The pennant races in baseball may not have a lot of drama heading into September as I recap the division and wild card chase to date. The Yankees look to get out of a six week malaise with a trip to Oakland and Anaheim upcoming as they've won three in a row. The Mets have the Braves breathing down their neck in the only race worth noting. Should there be concern if Atlanta overtakes the NL East at some point? Why did the Mets skip Jacob deGrom's start vs. the Yankees. I'll also discuss the apology by Fernando Tatis Jr. as he's in the middle of an 80 game suspension. And what about the 2023 schedule? Based on what I've seen, yours truly isn't a fan of it. I'll explain why. (28:41) We're two weeks away from the start of a new NFL season. I'm sure many of you are psyched and pumped up for your Sundays being occupied with wall to wall football. What I wasn't psyched about was UFC chairman, Dana White, breaking a story on how Tom Brady was close to signing with the Las Vegas Raiders back in the 2020 offseason. Why bring this up now? Is this even a story? I'll also chime in on some news throughout the league (Baker Mayfield starting in Carolina), as well as, remembering Len Dawson. The Chiefs QB going back to the 1960's, who died at the age of 87. (35:19) Kevin Durant agrees to move forward with the Nets as they try to come out from the rubble of his trade request earlier this summer. But there's one dynamic that needs to be addressed, in my opinion, if this upcoming season were to be one that can lead to a championship. What were the Lakers thinking acquiring Patrick Beverley? Did they not know about the history between he and Russell Westbrook? This has the makings of a disaster! (45:30) I'm not too happy with the direction that the New York Islanders have taken this offseason. It was capped off by the team, who was rumored to sign former Avalanche forward Nazem Kadri, instead signs a long term deal with the Calgary Flames. What is going on with GM Lou Lamoriello as he continues to sit on his hands and do nothing to improve this team, who didn't make the playoffs this past season. Today's episode is one that I've wanted to do for a long time. I'm speaking to the very fabulous Pip Brett, the founder of much-loved homewares and fashion store Jumbled which is based in Orange, NSW. For those of you who haven't experienced the word of Jumbled, it's a colourful haven, bursting with inspiration and pure joy. Pip really is the most inspiring entrepreneur. She started her business in her early 20s, and has been running it for over 16 years. And while Jumbled is certainly the place to go for retail therapy, it's also the place to go for community and connection. Pip also runs The Huddle, which she describes as a weekend of inspiration and learning for kick-ass businesswomen. She's just run her most recent Huddle, and I know I'll be joining the next one. In today's episode, we start at the beginning, and end up to where she is now (that is, the owner of a thriving business and a mother of two). Get ready to meet the brilliant Pip Brett. This video is kinda jumbled. In it, I walk through some of my proofs from my first (and very rough) draft of my Senior Thesis.
