The Kingdom of God has a spatial, geographic reality to it, and it's so important that we interact with our city and the body of believers in our city to bring the Kingdom to our hometowns. Paul explains the vision and mission of the networks they're building, in hopes that others join in and help to create a strong, sturdy network of Christians who all help and work with one another. Key Takeaways Changed dads change everything. If you feel led to start a fatherhood organization, ask people whether they think programs to support fathers are important, and you'll get an overwhelming response. Around 75% of people consider fatherlessness to be a serious issue. As a dad, you occupy a space in your kids' hearts that no one else can fill. Ron Hauenstein Ron Hauenstein is the president and founder of the Spokane Fatherhood Initiative. SpoFI offers comprehensive fatherhood training and parenting classes, equipping fathers with vital skills for every stage of parenting. Ron and his wife Becky have two grown children. Key Quotes 19:18 - "We believe that changed dads change everything. Our founding principle is that fatherlessness is a root cause of nearly all of society's problems. The positive way of stating that is dedicated, committed fathers change society, improves society, changed dads change everything." 33:23 - "Fatherhood is a role you cannot escape. You can flee from your kids all you want, but you are still dad. You occupy a space in their hearts that no one else can take. No one else can have. I'm a father. I will stay a father. We have a fatherhood pledge in our classes, that's one of the lines we have the men stand up and say out loud, I'm a dad, I'll stay dad and I will be a dad to my children." Joe Briggs began riding dirt bikes in August of 2020. He decided to race indoors over this past winter, and became a District 23 ARMCA member in the spring of 2021. Joe completed his first full season of motocross racing this year in the Open C and 14-24 C classes. Joe is proud to have finished in the top 5 overall in both of his classes in his first year of racing, and has goals of improving his racing program and overall finishes in District 23 ARMCA in 2022.Joe will continue to race in District 23 ARMCA because of the family-like community, which he says doesn't compare to the feeling of other Districts. Inspired by friend and mentor Eric Swanson, Joe is working hard to become a better racer. He was once advised to ride within his means to ensure the safety of himself and other racers, and in order to do his best, he focuses on proper nutrition on race day and quieting his mind before the gate drops. For fun, Joe enjoys working on all types of powersports vehicles at Swanny's Cycle, and dreams of a tropical family vacation. Joe advises other District 23 ARMCA members to work hard and support others in the sport with a “what goes around, comes around” attitude. Joe is “very proud to be D23.”This article was prepared by an independent contractor and may not be the views of the board of directors of District 23 ARMCA or any of their sponsors or affiliates.

In this episode, Eric and Sara Joy talk with Adam Ward about his podcast, For Columbus, based in Columbus, Ohio. Unlike other podcast hosts who aspire to expand their audience as far as possible, Adam is happy to limit his reach to those who love and serve Columbus. In this podcast, Adam shares stories about leaders serving God's kingdom in a local setting. Most Christian leaders are too busy with their own ministries to pay attention to other things that are happening in their own backyard. The For Columbus podcast addresses that problem by providing an easy way for everyone to hear about the cool things that other leaders are doing in their city. It's exciting to discover how God is at work just down the street or across town. And these stories can generate support and provide opportunities for collaboration across different ministries. This is a ministry idea that has very low barriers to entry. Anyone can start a local podcast in their own city. Adam shares some tips on how to get started. It's a great way to build camaraderie among ministry leaders, bring hope to a city, as well as engender civic pride among local residents.Access more Show Notes with pictures and resources related to this episode.More information about this podcast and helpful church and urbanism resources can be found on The Embedded Church website.Related ResourcesFor Columbus Podcast hosted by Adam WardBarna Research AccessOur Towns: A 100,000-Mile Journey into the Heart of America by James Fallows and Deborah Fallows The Externally Focused Quest: Becoming the Best Church for the Community by Eric Swanson and Rick RusawTo Transform a City: Whole Church, Whole Gospel, Whole City by Eric SwansonFind these Key Terms on The Embedded Church website:- Church Gathered / Church Scattered- Social Determinants of HealthShow CreditsHosted and Produced by Eric O.
