You don't always get to choose your relations in life: it is neither your choice what family you're born into, nor who you work with. This gamble doesn't always work out, and is sometimes made especially more tragic because we spend the majority of our days working, and we must grow up with our family - regardless of who they are. That's why it is important to choose carefully the relationships where choice is an option. You might think I'm talking about “friends” here. But, more specifically, what I mean are those little friends that come from a different species - our pets. Just as with human relations, we have to work and put a serious effort into developing the relationships we have with our pets. So make sure you are sincere with this effort. Otherwise, you risk only being Fair Weather Friends. This story was written by Phillip Clark. It was directed, engineered, and edited by Phillip Clark. The Hidden Archives is created by Phillip Clark, and is produced by Phillip Clark and Nicole Clark of the Rhodes Collaborative Experience LLC. Executive Producer: Phillip Clark Co-Executive Producer: Nicole Clark The “Curator” was voiced by Nicole Clark, and the story was read by Phillip Clark. This, and every story, presented by the Hidden Archives is completely fictional. Any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental. But, when it happens, it is somewhat disturbing, pretty cool, and kind of the point (sometimes). Music: Theme is “Goldberg Variations, BWV 988 – 22 Variatio 21 Canone alla Settima” by J.S. Bach, and the story music was: “Moonlight Sonata Op. 27 No. 2 - III. Presto” by Ludwig Van Beethoveni. Have a story idea, and theories on canon, or think you know something that might (or should) be in the Hidden Archives? Drop us a message and we'll see if you are curator material. Mishlei 14:20 - Fair-weather Friends גַּם לְרֵעֵהוּ יִשָּׂנֵא רָשׁ וְאֹהֲבֵי עָשִׁיר רַבִּים:Length: 45 minutesSynopsis: This morning (2/28/24), in our morning Mishlei shiur, we learned yet another full pasuk in one session! It was unclear at first whether this one was about wealth/poverty or love/hate, but it ended up being about the intersection between the two: the effects of a person's success and failure on their relationships. Some meforshim learn that tomorrow's pasuk is connected to this one, so we'll move onto that tomorrow.-----מקורות:משלי יד:כמדרש משלי - יג:כרבינו יונהמצודת דודרלב"גרש"ימיוחס לרד"ק"Nixon" (1995)-----This week's Torah content has been sponsored by Jonah Mishaan with appreciation for Rabbi Schneeweiss, who gathers wisdom from various disciplines. The Nightly Rant: Fair Weather Friends and the Impact of Social MediaWelcome to The Nightly Rant with your hosts, Mike and Torya. In this episode, they delve into the topic of fair weather friends and the impact of social media on friendships and relationships. They discuss the prevalence of unfriendly behavior on social media platforms and the need for self-reflection in these situations. They also share personal anecdotes and explore the importance of being able to share opinions in a friendship. Let's dive into the main themes of this thought-provoking discussion.Introduction to the Main ThemesIn today's society, the concept of fair weather friends has become increasingly relevant due to the rise of social media. People now have the ability to share every aspect of their lives online, which has led to the exposure of true personalities and the emergence of red flags in friendships. The hosts express their frustration with the unfriendly behavior they have witnessed on social media platforms, where people often belittle and berate those who hold different opinions. They emphasize the need for self-reflection and explore the impact of social media on friendships and relationships.In-Depth Exploration of Each ThemeTheme 1: The Impact of Social Media on Friendships"People post everything online. They go crazy. And so it brings out red flags. You start to see red flags in people, and it's all because of social media. It really has brought out people's true personalities." - MikeThe hosts discuss how social media has become an echo chamber, where people only interact with others who share their beliefs. This leads to a lack of tolerance for differing opinions and a tendency to attack and belittle those who hold opposing views. They highlight the negative impact this has on friendships and relationships, as people are quick to sever ties with those who don't align with their beliefs. They emphasize the importance of being able to have open and respectful conversations, even when opinions differ.Theme 2: The Need for Self-Reflection"Could I have done something different? That's what's frustrating about this to me, is the only thing I could have done differently is just keep my opinion to myself. And that's just not acceptable. So that's not going to happen." - ToryaThe hosts reflect on the situation that led to the loss of a friend over a difference of opinion on social media. They express their frustration with the expectation that they should have kept their opinions to themselves, as it goes against the essence of friendship. They emphasize the importance of being able to share opinions in a friendship and the need for self-reflection to determine if there was a reasonable way to fix the situation. They conclude that in this case, there was nothing they could have done differently without compromising their values.Theme 3: The Bluntness Excuse"People use the term 'I am blunt' so many times as an excuse to just be rude. It's not everybody, but it happens a lot. And people in that situation will just be like, 'Well, I'm just telling it like it is.' No, you're being rude and you're trying to stir up drama." - MikeThe hosts discuss how some individuals use bluntness as an excuse to be rude and disrespectful. They highlight the importance of distinguishing between being blunt and being outright offensive. They share personal anecdotes about their own bluntness and how it can be received differently depending on the context and the relationship. They emphasize the need for tact and respect when expressing opinions, even if they are contrary to others' beliefs.Theme 4: Business Funding Assholes"Don't mess with us. Because when you mess with us, we have legit, legal, above board ways of returning the favor." - MikeThe hosts share a humorous anecdote about dealing with telemarketers offering business funding. They discuss the importance of staying calm and composed in such situations, as it allows for quick wit and clever comebacks. They emphasize the need to assert oneself without resorting to rudeness or aggression. They highlight the power of legal and legitimate means of dealing with unwanted interactions, such as blocking and sending error messages.Analysis of the Implications and Potential Impact of the ThemesThe themes discussed in this episode have significant implications for friendships and relationships in the digital age. The prevalence of unfriendly behavior on social media platforms can lead to the erosion of trust and the breakdown of friendships. The hosts emphasize the importance of open and respectful communication, even when opinions differ. They highlight the need for self-reflection and the understanding that differing opinions do not necessarily make someone an enemy. The bluntness excuse is also explored, with the hosts emphasizing the importance of distinguishing between bluntness and rudeness. They stress the need for tact and respect when expressing opinions. Additionally, the hosts share a lighthearted anecdote about dealing with telemarketers, highlighting the power of staying calm and composed in difficult situations. The potential impact of these themes is significant. By fostering open and respectful communication, friendships and relationships can thrive in the digital age. The hosts' emphasis on self-reflection encourages individuals to consider their own actions and reactions in conflicts. This can lead to personal growth and the development of stronger relationships. The exploration of the bluntness excuse highlights the importance of being mindful of how one's words may be received by others. By practicing tact and respect, individuals can maintain healthy and positive interactions. The hosts' anecdote about dealing with telemarketers serves as a reminder that there are legal and legitimate ways to handle unwanted interactions, without resorting to rudeness or aggression. Conclusion and Future OutlookIn conclusion, the hosts of The Nightly Rant shed light on the impact of social media on friendships and relationships. They emphasize the need for open and respectful communication, even when opinions differ. The bluntness excuse is explored, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between bluntness and rudeness. The hosts also share a lighthearted anecdote about dealing with telemarketers, emphasizing the power of staying calm and composed in difficult situations. Moving forward, it is crucial for individuals to reflect on their own actions and reactions in conflicts, and to practice tact and respect in their interactions. By doing so, friendships and relationships can thrive in the digital age, fostering understanding and personal growth.TimestampSummary[0:00:15]Introduction to the Nightly Rant podcast[0:01:29]Discussion on fair-weather friends[0:02:18]Impact of social media on friendships and relationships[0:04:07]Importance of considering different opinions on social media[0:05:00]Frustration over losing a friend due to differing opinions[0:05:27]Suggestion to invite the person to the Renaissance fair[0:06:00]Reflecting on the inability to share opinions in friendships[0:07:07]Example of misinformation shared on social media[0:08:16]Self-reflection on the situation and inability to change outcome[0:09:32]Blocking and lack of response when questioned about unfriendliness[0:11:35]Discussion about people using bluntness as an excuse to be rude[0:12:40]Positive experience with contractors from Pakistan[0:13:20]Appreciation for Torya's bluntness and humor[0:16:17]Laughing at TV show "Sister Wives" together[0:17:44]Story of a phone call with a telemarketer[0:19:33]Quick-witted response to telemarketer[0:21:02]Blocking a spammer and sending a return message[0:22:20]Legal ways to deal with unwanted emails[0:22:48]Reflecting on the satisfaction of the response[0:22:56]Transition to discussing business funding experiences0:22:41C and Torya discuss their recent successful move.0:22:58People online need to assume good intentions, not bad.0:23:31Disagreement on one topic can turn someone into an enemy.0:23:41Sudden hostility towards someone over a disagreement.0:23:49Goodnight and farewell to fair weather idiots.0:23:57Mike thanks listeners and asks for ratings.0:24:04Ignore rating request if you didn't enjoy the show.0:24:09This has been a Yogi's podcast network production.

The diehard sports family Duffield, has some funny ideals and loyalties. Is there a difference between being a true-blue fan and a follower? Well, Jeff and Sue Duffield will try and answer that during this episode. With the epic end-of-season run by MLB's surprising post-season Phillies, it will surely be a journey to behold in these next few days. Being a follower and not just a fan, will prove itself when this team (or your favorite pass time) disappoints. Hoping for a great outcome, this World Series 2022 has some real wildness about it. How they're able to contain the euphorias at this point, is beyond comprehension. Now, all those fair weathered fans (disciples of Jesus) soon BECAME followers after the resurrection! But when they thought everything was absolutely falling apart, when they thought Jesus was going to die and that would be the end of the story, they simply gave up. No loyalty and no commitment; which eventually they did gain back (and took that loyalty and commitment to the point of death themselves) AFTER they saw the resurrected Yeshua. Some people will only be your friend when you're doing well. They seem to be there whenever things are going well for you, but the moment something goes wrong in your life they disappear like a thief in the night. These type of friends we call fairweather friends, and I am convinced that having them around can lead to more harm than good. I wanted to share with you some telltale signs of a fairweather friend so that you'll know who is really with you!
Be a better friend to yourself first
We might be a day late with our episode this week, but we are not Fair Weather Friends. We're here with you for every episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City until the end. This week Hunter gives Mary's tagline the Christmas treatment. Papa the Bear is ready to take a sip of some "Whiskney." We even had Popeye's for dinner in honor of Sharrieff. We might spend yet another week trying to figure out that confusing phone call that Jen received on the van before the trip to Vail, but we are not confused about Lisa Barlow's driving skills, apparently with all modes of transportation.
Cho is out of town this week, and Sam is joined by Lexi to break down the women's return to SLC from Vail. Why is Heather the only one picking up Jen's calls? Will Whitney's husband leave her with debt because he's 17 years older? All this and much more on this episode of #RHOSLC !
E86 RHOSLC S2 E13 – Fair Weather Friends We get a peak inside of Mary's gift emporium…or an episode of Hoarders. Jen has a heart-to-heart with Coach Shah and Whitney uses the camera to safely spring bad news to Justin. So do you not find it a bit curious, that the one place where information of all kinds it 100% controlled by the censors and Communist party is the location of a story about the Global Pandemic that our MSM is insisting is true? What information leaves China that is not censored? What stories can you create if you control the entire process of information and narrative creation? What do you gain? This is a rabbit hole that not only opens our eyes to the deceit of the Deep State, but to the depth of programming they have embedded in each and every one of us that the world is on the brink of an apocalyptic end.Donate: https://www.bards.fm/p/donate-1584248352/Buy the Film: https://bardsofwarfilm.comSupport the work via PayPal: paypal.me/bardsofwar

There are some people who say that only 10% of the people you know like you. But a friend is a friend, right? Well, not exactly. There are different levels of friendship which are never obvious on the surface. It's only when you reach a crisis point in your life that you find out just who your true friends are. On the one hand, we have our best friends who are often closer to us than our family. They share all our secrets and know us inside and out. But we also have our "fair weather friends" who help us to celebrate and only arrive on our doorsteps when they need something from us. Then there are our invisible friends who aren't really there at all. If you believe that you have at least one true friend, who cares about you and will stand by you through the good times and the bad consider this: if you were to lose your job, your car and be on the verge of losing your home, would they still be there for you?
I hunted down Rachael Finley (AKA @instasteak) by harassing my other friends and trying to get her number. Her handle was always popping up on my feed and with a name like Steak, I recognized it. She looked like someone I would want to be friends with, and after this podcast… I think we’re real friends now? Rachael- correct me if I’m wrong. She is a clothing designer/business owner- Her two lines are called Hot Lava and Teenage. She has an advice column called Steak Talk and it’s got a serious following.
