Hello! It's been a quiet offseason so far in Seattle Mariners land, but there are some small developments to discuss. The Mariners have brought a Mariners legend into the front office fold to help oversee the rise to contention. A few notable names have been designated for assignment and will be moving on, opening up 40 man roster spots for future Mariners yet to come. But most of all, the Oakland Athletics have begun a painful dismantling process that the Mariners just might be in a position to benefit from. Assorted Musings: - KGJ returns to the team in an ownership capacity - The Kraken, the Seahawks, and the landscape of Seattle Sports - LJay, Ryan Webber, Sam Haggerty, Shed Long, Jake Bauers, others DFA'd - Will Jake Fraley pass through waivers? - Punching down on the disintegrating Oakland Athletics - Shaking out the future of the AL West - Trading from the Mariners prospect surplus? - Potential trades in the bullpen (Sadler, Steckenrider) Learn more about your ad choices. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

And, what does Scott Servais benching Shed Long say about how this team views itself moving into the second half of the season? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Crawford joins the show to discuss his offensive surge, having Shed Long back and why he's so happy the fans are back at the ballpark. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Thanks to a walk off Shed Long grand slam yesterday, the Mariners completed a four-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. That marked the third time in the series they walked off Tampa. Thanks for tuning in. Seahawks- Seahawks lose 2 legends... Doug Baldwin and Kam Chancellor both released. These are the poster boys for what I think Seahawks football should be about. Part of that to me is not about football. These 2 just show what it is to be a great man, a great leader and at the same time a great NFL player. They will be missed immensely but I look forward to seeing what they do going forward off the field. There have been some great tributes to these guys tweeted out the last week or so and I just want to thank both those guys for the service and joy they have brought the city and the fans of the Seahawks. Put them both in the Ring of Honor ASAP. There is no replacing these 2 for the Hawks but they are doing what they can... including Signing Ziggy Ansah DE 1yr/ 8 million with incentives to 12million. Signed DT All Woods. - run stopping guy who played for hawks 2011. Sort of a dead time now for a little while however still some signings that could happen. For me. Bucs Gerald McCoy if he is released and possibly Eric berry ( although that's a long shot at best) Mariners- 20-23 6gb in AL West. Last 10. 2-8 Slide back to earth continues Lost 12 of 14 and outscored 103-48 during that time. Including 34-8 in this Boston series. This is much closer to where I expected them to be at the beginning of the year. Its completely okay with me as we are building for the future. Keep building some of these veterans up for trade chips and building these young guys for the future. Felix may be done with the Mariners after IL stint. Struggled the last couple starts and ERA is 6.52 in 38.2 innings just looks like he might need to sit or change of scenery. Ups Brennan still pitching good. 2.11 ERA and .178 average against. Kikuchi- pitched lights out last 2 starts. At least 7 kings and 1 run in both. D. Santana- .409 in last 7 games 2 hr. 6 rbis. Narvaez - .412 last 5 games. Downs Tim Beckham- .095 last 5 games Vogelbach- .136 0hrs. Last 6 games. Haniger-. 143 last 7 games and .200 in last 25 games. SWARsak- 21 era in 2 games this last week Felix- 15.95 ERA last 2 starts. 13 runs Teams stats. 1st in Errors with 43 23rd in team ERA , 27th average against. 16th in batting average, 1st in HR, RBIs, 4th in SBs, 14th OBP. So offense is still doing something but not as much and pitching is still the struggle. They called up J.P Crawford and Shed Long this week which is nice for more youth. OAK FOR 2 and Minnesota comes to TMobile park for 4. NBA Playoff- GSW beat the rockets in 6 without KD for the last 1.5 games. Portland moved past Denver in game 7 to reach western conference finals And on the other side MIL takes on Toronto in what should be a good matchup. Pass it to the homies- Favorite memories of Kam Chancellor and Doug Baldwin? For me both of these guys are similar in that one moment doesnt stand out for me. Both of these guys have a large collection of moments. For Doug the amazing and clutch catches and some of the motivational interviews and for Kam the hits the boom, and then for me the leadership of the D. And the pick 6 against the Panthers. The hits on the superbowl and against the 49ers earlier on. Again as always, thanks so much for listening and please let me know how I can improve this listening experience. Chris Blessing from Baseball HQ joined us to talk Corbin Martin, Shed Long, the best player he's seen in the minors this year, the one who hasn't lived up to the hype and we have a GREAT 20-minute conversation about who, if anyone, has an authoritative voice in the prospect world.
Todd Zola joins Clay Link to discuss J.P. Crawford, Shed Long, Chris Martin, Hunter Pence and two-start pitchers for the week of May 13! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We've talked about a little bit for the last few days, but it's finally official. Ziggy Ansah is now a Seahawk. How much we can expect from him remains to be seen, but he's probably not going to have quite the production of Frank Clark. We're still waiting who on this team is going to pop and become the next breakout player. The M's have finished up in New York, and have moved on to Boston, with a couple of injured players, JP Crawford and Shed Long have been called up. We talk with ROOT Sports' Bill Krueger about them, Happ's pitches to Dee, Kikuchi's alleged use of pine tar, and more courtesy of Venue Kings. The Mariners are on the decline, which wouldn't have been as big of a shock except for the crazy start to the year they had. Regardless, no one seems too angry. We've been set free by the fact that the team is in a rebuilding year. They've never quite set one up like this. It's a carefree season for Mariners fans.

Adam starts with the Mariners who are calling up a couple minor leaguers; JP Crawford and Shed Long. Adam likes both players in deeper league formats. Adam talks about Travis Shaw and how he is going to get some rest right now... Shawn Kelley heading to IL, Rangers now will look for a replacement closer. Chris Martin is now the closers in Texas. Shawn Childs joins to talk fantasy baseball but they begin with fantasy football. Is Lamar Jackson a top 10 fantasy QB this year? He might be with the rushing yards he produces. After an off-season full of change, it's finally time to see what the 2019 Mariners will look like. KJR's Chuck and Buck in the Morning will be broadcasting live from Peoria all this week, getting a first-hand look at the club in action. They'll also get a ton of interviews while they're down there, including one of the newest faces on the M's squad, Shed Long. In case you missed it, we're playing it back. While we're replaying segments you might have missed, this one's older but worth hearing. Last year, Niner Nate attempted to interview the street preacher outside Safeco Field, and hilarity ensued. The NFL and Colin Kaepernick have finally reached a settlement, with dollar figures not being released publicly, but most estimates put it in the ballpark of $50 to $100 million. That's not nothing, but when split among the 32 owners, most of them make that back in a day. Whatever your views on Kaepernick are, you have to respect the way he's handled this whole thing. He's getting paid a lot of money just to check the mail.

We are back, baby, after a long hiatus caused by the deadly trifecta of the holidays, Hall of Fame craziness, and Kate forgetting that it was her turn to edit the podcast. But Kate, John, and Matthew are back, with a Frankenstein pod stitched together from bits of the forgotten pod and this newer version [ummm the podcast was actually the doctor?]. 0 - 30:00: Intro and apologia and EDGAR MARTINEZ IS OFFICIALLY A HALL OF FAMER. We make some sounds! Kate waxes long (very long) about her love of Edgar Martinez and community service, and wonders why not all baseball players don’t follow Edgar’s advice to just hit the ball where it is. Matthew describes the creamy skin of Alex Rodriguez, for some reason. John’s mic makes a weird popping noise at one point, sorry about it. Also Kate accidentally refers to Albert Pujols’s career in the past tense, and she is very sorry about it. 30:00 - 50:00: Media Day rundown. Kate recaps the highlights and summarizes the major takeaways from the day, as observed by someone sitting at home in front of the computer, including a renewed push to Control the Zone, the farm system and Andy McKay, and the first public comments by members of the front office about Dr. Martin’s accusations. Matthew looks at the players who spoke during Media Day and notes that the Mariners are infringing on Chris Rock’s copyright. Kate points out how diverse the team is getting, especially at the lower minors (and invokes this adorable moment of Taiwanese prospect Jingyu Chang hanging out with 2018 draftees Cal Raleigh and Logan Gilbert), and points out that with the departure of Nelson Cruz, Dee Gordon seems to have become the de facto clubhouse leader. Chad Dotson was joined this week by C. Trent Rosecrans, one of the Reds beat writers for the Cincinnati Enquirer, to discuss Rosecrans' "Great American Dream" podcast. The podcast follows Reds prospect Shed Long on his path to the big leagues, and includes stories and memories from many former minor leaguers, including Joey Votto and Ken Griffey Jr. Chad and Trent also discussed the current state of the Reds' rebuild, and how far the team is from being competitive. Even after the minor-league season ends, the work to get better doesn’t. Just days after celebrating a championship with Pensacola, Shed Long was on his way to Goodyear, Ariz., to start getting ready for the 2018 season.
Shed Long was recently moved up to Double-A Pensacola, a new start with a new team in a new city. Upward movement is always the goal, but the road goes both ways. As the Reds struggle in 2017, several players have had the highs of being called up to the big leagues combined with the lows of returning to minor-league life after a taste of the big leagues.
Life in the minor leagues can create bonds and relationships that last a lifetime. Promoted from Daytona to Pensacola, Shed Long is now playing beside close friend Blake Trahan in the Blue Wahoos' infield.
Meet Shed Long, a 21-year-old from Anniston, Alabama, who is starting for the high-Class A Dayton Tortugas in Daytona, Florida.
Coming April 24: Great American Dream is the story of the path to the big leagues, following current Reds minor league second baseman Shed Long in his journey toward Major League Baseball. Long's journey is one taken by thousands every year and their stories all different, but travel a similar path from cities across the country all with the same dream.
Guests Jesse Winker, Nick Senzel, Shed Long, Homer Bailey and Marty Brennaman join host Jamie Ramsey during Day Two of Redsfest 2016
