Escape to a serene cozy houseboat moored in Utrecht's charming canals, where the soft pitter-patter of summer rain creates a soothing ASMR soundscape. As rain gently taps the water's surface, its harmony with the city's subtle life forms a tranquil melody. Nestled in this idyllic setting, the rain's soft rhythmic dance on the houseboat and the nearby waterway melds with the distant urban thrum. Perfect for moments of relaxation or drifting into sleep. Good Night.

Younger fans of today's Memphis Grizzlies can be forgiven for thinking the NBA franchise has spent the entirety of its 28-year existence playing its still-evolving brand of pro hoops in the FedExForum. But this week's guest - documentary filmmaker and Vancouver, BC native Kat Jayme ("The Grizzlie Truth;" "Finding Big Country") - is here to remind us that the "Grizz" actually got its start as one of two 1995 Canadian expansion teams (the other: the still-vibrant Toronto Raptors), scratching out its initial six seasons of chaotic existence in Cascadia country. Despite five coaches, a woeful .219 winning percentage, a raft of questionable draft picks, and an economically challenging US/Canadian exchange rate - Jayme fondly remembers a team from her late 1990s youth which Vancouver embraced with unbridled enthusiasm - yet wonders not only why they left GM Place for Beale Street, but also what might have been had they stayed put in Rain City. + + + WATCH EARLY & OFTEN: Finding Big Country (2018) The Grizzlie Truth (trailer; 2022) Born Identities (NBA Films short; 2021) We the West (2020) I'm Just Here For the Riot (ESPN Films "30 For 30" documentary; not yet released; 2023) FIND & FOLLOW: Website: https://goodseatsstillavailable.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/GoodSeatsStill Instagram (+ Threads): https://www.instagram.com/goodseatsstillavailable/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GoodSeatsStillAvailable/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@goodseatsstillavailable

Rain City Drive has had quite the storied history since they were first formed in conjunction with their former front-man back in 2014. After numerous lineup changes, label changes, and even a name change, the band is back with their self-titled album; which is their fifth overall, but second with this lineup, but first under their new branding – did that make sense?! Nevertheless, after a rather inconsistent release quality, how does this new album stack up overall? Does it provide us with surprisingly great songs? Or does the album's artwork of endless trash let us know ahead of time what to expect?! Find out in our track-by-track review of Rain City Drive's newest album! Also on the episode, we share our thoughts on other albums from bands like Senses Fail, Palisades, Glass Tides, Anthony Green, Coheed and Cambria, and Led Zeppelin. #RainCityDrive #JonnyCraig #SensesFail #Palisades #GlassTides #AnthonyGreen #CoheedAndCambria #LedZeppelin Find us on social media: https://discord.gg/2jv87Wypvw https://www.twitter.com/TheSkinnyPod https://www.instagram.com/mikewearsprada mail to:theskinnywithmikeandadam@gmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support

The Rain City Superhero Movement was a vigilante organization led by Ben Fodor, an MMA fighter-turned-crime fighter who sought to thwart wrongdoers in Seattle while wearing a yellow and black bulletproof suit, under the name Phoenix Jones. A new podcast, "The Superhero Complex," explores Jones' rise to (and fall from) fame alongside the phenomenon of real-life superheroism. Host David Weinberg joins us.
In the 2010's Superheros began roaming the streets of Seattle, helping people out, posing for pictures, and breaking up bar fights. Soon, the police had a list of more than 10 working superheros that made up The Rain City Superhero Movement. We get into how the movement started, discuss some of the altercations they were involved in, and tell you the tale of Phoenix Jones, which may just prove that you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. MALEVOLENCE on broken glass taken from the new album MALICIOUS INTENT Broken glass comes out the gates swinging. So much energy to this track straight away riffs and some killer early tones And then boom the energy intensifies a whole another level. Packed with Riff and powerful hooks what a way to announce yourself to your new label. If you like your music fast and heavy this is for you, I'm really not surprised when you have people like Matt Heafy of Trivium singing this bands praises, every word of praise is fully deserved, I cannot wait to see this band take over the British metal scene Give this one a spin. Really looking forwarded to Misery Made Me as well as hopefully seeing them live at Slamdunk. Some very interesting choice of production here with a trumpet I think it works it's a bold and an interesting move, I liked this and I want to hear me as it touches on bands I love. Next up Sicksense and their new single Kings today Check out the video for Kings Today here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWv8yR2o6Zc Kings Today opens with an explosion of riffs killer production and some great vocal displays you have screams mixed with some rapping and then some melody which I love, these 3 vocal styles together really work well on the track. Whilst these vocals are ongoing added to the mix is this heavy riff matched to slap you in the face. A really cool and fun track keen so see where this bands goes next Sicksense online https://www.facebook.com/sickxsense https://twitter.com/sickxsense https://www.instagram.com/sickxsense lastly this week are Rain City Drive and their latest track Dreams check out the video for Dreams here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuNIkNcHBvo&feature=youtu.be Rain City Drive online https://raincitydrive.com https://www.facebook.com/raincitydrive https://www.tiktok.com/@raincitydrive https://twitter.com/raincitydrive https://instagram.com/raincitydrive https://www.youtube.com/c/thrillerrecords Dreams is a track that is so different to what I have already featured this week, it's a slightly more of poppier sounding track with a lot of production, but yet it offers a really great feel plenty of energy and some killer hooks in the chorus and the guitar tones sound great. Night Hunters is a Floating World Comics independent comic book feature illustrated by Alexis Ziritt and written by Dave Baker. Dave Baker joins Jublar and Cami for a Q&A to discuss the cyber-future setting and characters of Night Hunters. Dave Baker breaks down how this comic book is his artistic protest for the culture movements that are taking place in the real world of today. Night Hunters takes place in a dystopian cyber modified future set in Venezuela 2057-2078. Cyber-mech modified super cops control the streets of Gran Caracas by establishing peace through the citizens' superior obedience, extreme police brutality, and only giving basic human rights to those who are or were former police officers. If you love bootleg 80s movie posters or if you're still waiting on your cyber-punk video game refund then this comic book is for you! Music credit to: Jeremy Blake - Power Up! We’ve got another Gut Feeling podcast interview on deck this week, and it’s a doozy! The talk is with Jesse Gander, a longtime member of Vancouver’s music community as both a performer (d.b.s., Needles//Pins, Uptights, Operation Makeout, Black Rice, Ghost House, and more) and a prolific engineer/producer.Jesse gets into how he first got interested in the recording arts, from experimenting with his boombox’s bass and treble levels, to cutting four-track demos for bands in exchange for a six-pack, to investing in himself by learning Pro Tools and opening his Rec Age Recorders in his parents’ basement, to tracking countless bands these days at Rain City Recorders. His CV is massive, nearing six hundred releases and counting, including records with Japandroids, White Lung, the Pack A.D., Brutus, a Juno-winning album from Anciients, and so much more. Some things to look forward to that Jesse mentions throughout the discussion: he’s recorded new work from Brutal Poodle and Grave Infestation; he and the rest of Needles//Pins have another record coming out; d.b.s. is having their full catalogue re-released digitally through Boat Dreams from the Hill (with the possibility of some vinyl re-releases coming up, too). Also hoping that the World of S**t solo album he’s been prepping since the ‘90s sees the light of day.Third time’s a charm: I’d mentioned this in the interview and the intro, but want to clarify that the old photos of the Cramps, Nick Cave, and R.E.M. that have hung in Jesse’s various studios were taken by his dad. Hope you enjoy! Get on the email list at gutfeeling.substack.com

Just so you know, this is more like episode 49.5. Nick and Dan were both REALLY sick this week, but we wanted to do a quick episode letting everyone know what’s coming up on RCS as well as introduce our new sponsor, Hagerty! This has always been a labor of love for us, so we’ve been intentionally slow to grab sponsors as we want to only represent brands we personally believe in. We joke a lot, but putting our names on anything is something we actually do take seriously and we are really proud and honored to be associated with Hagerty who has always treated us and their customers wel. We should know, Nick has been one before this Podcast ever started.

This is a short "slice-of-life" story about my one-handed life, riding the bus in the city of Seattle, and the word "disability." Riding the public bus system in Downtown Seattle, Washington is story enough. I think that can be said for any major city. However, the seven years I lived in Seattle during the explosion of the Grunge music scene was a very special time. Public Transportation was a thing! Generally speaking, people loved riding the bus, the ferries, and the Light Rail. There was a real sense of community on public transportation. Seattle was very "alive" at that time. It was a great time to be there. I moved to Seattle in early 1991 just after the band Nirvana went national. Most of my time in Seattle was as a devoted bicycle commuter. And at the same time I spent quite a bit of time on the bus system for a few reasons. It did rain a lot during the year and I did not always want mushrooms growing on my back, I also got to ride the bus at no cost since I had what was considered a "disability." Lastly, the bus system was uniquely cool and hip, and fast and efficient. As a result I spent a lot of quality time on the bus. Often the short interactions had a special feel to them. Most of the time people were pretty open to the types of fleeting moments of conversation. On many occasion I would find myself engaged in some type of one-handed Q&A sessions with people of all ages, creeds, colors, and dispositions. This is a short story about one of those interactions. Thanks for listening! I invite you to share this podcast, offer a comment or leave some feedback. Show Notes: The spontaneous and cool interactions that arise on the bus regarding my one-handedness. Tim Parker, a proud Long Islander who “absolutely hated Vancouver” at first, tells us how he learned to love the Rain City. He also shows off his New York accent, shares his memories of 9/11, and reveals his biggest surprise about life in Vancouver (hint: it has something to do with the skytrains).
Ah, it's Valentine's Day in Cascadia. There's no love lost in the region on the holiday this year as Fredy Montero's rumored shock loan move to Vancouver makes waves throughout the league. The former Sounders DP forward left MLS for Portugal after 2013 as the all-time leading goal scorer in Seattle, and now it looks like the Cascade King may be back to win a few more derbies. This time it's in Rain City white and blue, though, and that brings an almost absurd amount of drama to this move. You just couldn't make this one up. In case that wasn't enough, Vancouver and Portland are set to contest their Simple Invitational finale against each other in a preseason tie that has already seen matches fall apart and careers altered in its history. Will this ill-fated fixture draw the excitement it has in years past? Will both rosters make it out unscathed? Before we get to all of the lover's spats here in Cascadia, Ep. 98 starts with a 20 minute-long discussion on the Video Assisted Referees (VARs) system that MLS will experiment with this season. On a more serious note Peter Czimmermann, President and Secretary of the Vancouver Southsiders supporters group, joins the show for the first time since Ep. 12 (Oct. 10, 2014) to discuss his organization's new travel decision in relation to the executive order on immigration recently signed in the United States. It's a fitting week for 2017 soccer to heat up. Skip Valentine's Day dinner with your boo and get your fix of passion in this remarkably apt edition of Radio Cascadia! We've raved about the Rain City Redemption series in the past. It's a must watch set of videos for Seahawks fans and it's hard to believe it has been as long as it has since the last movie in the series. The Rain City Miracle came out this week and creator of the series William Cornell joins us once again to talk about what went into this project and why he felt this was a story that needed to be told and in the archives along with previous episodes. He talks about the process it takes to put something like this together and why this video takes a bit of a different approach compared to previous episodes in the series. One of the videos greatest attributes, since it's about an amazing comeback in the NFC Championship game, we don't even have to suffer through another viewing of the play from the following game. You know which play we mean. Look back at some of the adversity from that season as well as some key moments that foreshadow this team's ability to never doubt themselves even when it looks like there is no chance to win. This is how the 2014 season should be remembered! Watch The Rain City Miracle Like the Rain City Redemption Series on Facebook Follow @RainCitySeries on Twitter
This week Uncharted Performance talks to Ben Koenigsberg, owner of Rain City Fit in Seattle, Washington. In this episode, we are continuing the theme of conquering psychological and emotional obstacles. Our guest today is a great example of what happens when you take (calculated) risks in an aspiration to achieve your biggest goals even when you don’t have the perfect plan of how to get there. Entrepreneurship and fitness have helped Ben overcome longstanding drug addiction through self-transformation. He realized that what he had to lose by starting a new chapter in life was nothing compared to what he would gain. What can we learn from Ben? Don’t be consumed by paralysis by analysis, start doing something towards your goal right now.
