SCRIPTURAL FOCUS: Numbers 6:24-26 (ESV); Ephesians 3:16-19 (ESV) There is a negative narrative that exists, a false paradox that was created to destroy the image in our minds of the importance and necessity of fathers. We have been lead to believe that fathers being absent and virtually non-existent in their children's lives is the status quo...and that just ain't so! That is a lie at its core, created by the enemy to erode our perception of and desire for relationship with God. If we succumb to believing the narrative that our earthy fathers are absent and do not love us, it will become difficult for many to believe in, relate to or maintain relationship with our Heavenly Father who loves us or feel safe and secure with earthly father-figures who desire to fill the void of the absent father in their lives. In this special Father's Day tribute, "D.A.D. LOVE! - A Daddy Appreciation Day Tribute", host Mignon Seals offers a prayer that both honors fathers AND asks God to shift the paradigm of fatherhood in perception and practice. God desires that we see and value fathers as He does...earthly demonstrations of His great love for His children. We invite you to listen now...HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!! Remain encouraged, remember to make time to Selah every day and join us next week to pray together. May God continue to keep and bless you! SCRIPTURAL FOCUS: Ephesians 4:26 (ESV): Psalm 51:10 (ESV); Matthew 12:25 (NIV); There is an intrinsic pain that exists in African Americans that we do not have the ability or capacity to articulate with words to describe how we feel regarding the condition of this world and the context of "living while Black" in America to our children. There is a burden we carry for our children and the men in our lives every time they leave home that no one should ever have to take to God in prayer on a daily basis. And there is another burden that people of color, (and those that empathize with us), are carrying as we struggle to comprehend the loss of Rayshard Brooks' life or how leaders could pass laws posthumously on behalf of Breonna Taylor BEFORE they arrest those responsible for taking her precious life. That is not God's heart for us or His divine design for our lives. We must take intentional action to plan, implement and maintain change, however, we must first touch and agree and seek God's rescue and wisdom in prayer. This episode, "MAKES ME WANNA HOLLER!", is a devotional tribute to Rashard Brooks and Breonna Taylor. Host Mignon Seals wants you to know, "The Lord works righteousness for all who are oppressed" and He responds to the cries of His children; He will grant you rest for your tires souls. Listen now for strategies and encouragement to help you if you've reached the place that just makes you wanna holler. Please make sure you are taking extra steps and making extra time to to pray and create space for self-care during the critical time. If you find that your stress, anxiety or depression are becoming more than you can handle, we at Selah Vie! want to encourage you to see the support you need to keep you in a healthy emotional and spiritual space. SCRIPTURAL FOCUS: James 2:20b,c NKJV; Romans 8:26 NASB Here at Selah Vie!, our hearts have been heavy, as we're sure yours have been too, as a result of the recent murders of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, and the callous attempt by Amy Cooper to weaponize the police against Christian Cooper in New York's Central Park. These horrific events and the heinous extrajudicial killings of our Brothers and Sisters that preceded them compelled our host Mignon Seals to write this prayer, "Please... I. CAN'T. BREATHE!", for justice and healing of our nation. The prolific writer James Baldwin said, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced." "Please... I. CAN'T. BREATHE!", is not only a call to prayer, it is a call to apply action to our faith. We are praying that God helps us to create a world that when we lift our hands it is not to shout, "Don't shoot!", but to shout, "Hallelujah!" Our hope is that through this prayer you find rest, peace and hope in God. We must all trust in His desire and ability to deliver and heal us while we stand on our strength in Him to apply action to our faith. For some, while in the midst of adversity, it may be challenging to remind yourselves that God is in control. When your heart is overwhelmed, how do you ground yourself in God? Our hope at Sela Vie! is that after praying with host Minister Mignon Seals in "Arrested Development",  you'll walk away knowing that any relationship that ended and any door that was closed as a result of gossip was NEVER a part of God's plan for your life OR He only intended for it to last for a season. Remember, God alone determines your value and your future; He can repurpose what was intended to be harmful and use it for His good. Sometimes, when life becomes overwhelming, it's really all on us and the decisions we've made. In this week's podcast "Blindspotting", host Minister Mignon Seals shares an introspective prayer that helps us recognize the lack of attention we pay God and the necessity to recalibrate and reprioritize where we focus our time and attention so that we can ultimately make wise, Christ-centered decisions.  We've all been shortsighted and impulsive at some juncture in our lives. The key to overcoming blindspots, in conjunction with concerted prayer, is being willing to regularly reflect on our mistakes; not for the sake of ruminating or beating ourselves up, but to give ourselves an opportunity to assess where we've made mistakes so that we can sidestep those ditches in the future. Our prayer for our listeners, is that Blindspotting leads our listeners to leave no area of their lives unchecked, unattended or unsubmitted to God. We at Selah Vie! are both praying and excited for you as you embark on a new journey with new vision! Remain encouraged, make time every day to Selah and join us next week to pray together.
