Read OnlineWhen Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took his wife into his home. Matthew 1:24What is it that made Saint Joseph so great? He wasn't immaculately conceived as our Blessed Mother was. He was not divine like Jesus. But he was the head of the Holy Family, its guardian and its provider. He became the legal father of the Savior of the World and the spouse of the Mother of God. But Joseph is not great only because he was given such incredible privileges. First and foremost, he was great because of the choices he made in life. Today's Gospel refers to him as a “righteous man” and as a man who “did as the angel of the Lord commanded him.” Thus, his greatness is primarily on account of his moral righteousness and obedience to the will of God. Joseph's obedience is especially seen in the fact that he obeyed the voice of God given to him in the four dreams recorded in Scripture. In his first dream, Joseph is told “do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20–21). In his second dream, Joseph is told, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him” (Matthew 2:13). In his third dream, Joseph is told, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child's life are dead” (Matthew 2:20). And in his fourth dream, Joseph is warned to go instead to Galilee rather than Judea (Matthew 2:22).When these dreams are read in succession, it is clear that Saint Joseph was attentive to the voice of God. We all have dreams, but Joseph's dreams were different. They were clear communications from God, and they required a willing recipient. Joseph was open to the voice of God and listened in faith as that willing recipient.Joseph also responded with complete submission and full determination. The commands Joseph received were not insignificant. His obedience required that he and his family travel great distances, take up residence in strange lands and do so all in faith. It's also clear that Joseph took his vocation seriously. Pope Saint John Paul II gave him the title “Guardian of the Redeemer.” Over and over, he showed his unwavering commitment to his role as the guardian of his legal Son, Jesus, and of his wife, Mary. His life was spent providing for them, protecting them and offering them a father's heart. Reflect, today, upon the unique vocation of Saint Joseph. Ponder, especially, the early years of his marriage and the raising of Jesus. Consider his fatherly commitment to care for, provide for and protect his Son. We all must seek to imitate Saint Joseph's virtues by protecting the presence of Christ within our own hearts, the hearts of our family and friends and in the world as a whole. Pray to Saint Joseph, asking him to help you follow his example so that the hidden presence of our Lord in our lives will grow and come to full maturation. Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen. Building & Rebuilding Men: A Discussion on Factors That Help or Hinder Men and Boys Hosted by Pastor Bryan Hudson, D.Min. at New Covenant Church March 8, 2025 Overview Generated by OpenAI The forum aimed to explore the challenges and opportunities facing men and boys, fostering discussion on how to encourage growth, responsibility, and resilience. It featured distinguished panelists from various backgrounds, including educators, ministers, and reentry specialists. Key topics included education, conflict resolution, mentorship, workforce development, and the role of faith in rebuilding lives. Opening Remarks Dr. Bryan Hudson welcomed attendees in person and online, emphasizing the importance of empowering men and boys. He highlighted Proverbs 27:17, "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend," and Proverbs 22:28, "Do not remove the ancient landmark which your fathers have set," illustrating the need for strong role models and guiding principles. Panelists & Contributors Minister Corey Jones (Educator & Mentor at KIPP Academy) Initiatives: Founded the PAC (Professionalism, Accountability, Character, and Conduct) program to mentor young men. Challenges: Many students face trauma, exposure to violence, and lack of positive male role models. Solutions: Teaching self-awareness, accountability, and discipline through social-emotional learning, free haircuts, and dress code initiatives (e.g., “Tie Tuesdays”). Jim Cotterill (President, Second Chance Indiana) Focus: Job training, mentoring, and transportation for men reentering society. Key Insights: 89% of those who return to prison are unemployed at the time of their rearrest. Employment significantly reduces recidivism rates. Importance of "A-B-C" Model: Any Job → Better Job → Career. Transportation Program: Provides rides for those starting jobs to ensure reliability. Dr. William Bumphus III (Mentor at Jesus House, Former Director at Wheeler Mission, Educator & Coach) Background: Former athlete and mentor who has studied recidivism and faith-based rehabilitation. Advice: Peer pressure can be both positive and negative. High expectations and accountability lead to success. Discipline and faith play key roles in life transformation. Pastor William Bumphus II (Founder, Jesus Inside Prison Ministry & Jesus House) Mission: Providing residential discipleship for men coming out of prison to help them reintegrate into society. Key Success Factors: Eliminating pressure by providing housing and stability upon release. Prioritizing spiritual growth and accountability over immediate employment. Five Priorities for Reentry Success: Get off parole/probation. Obtain a driver's license. Secure full-time, well-paying employment. Acquire dependable transportation. Find safe, stable housing. Jonathan Hudson (Educator & Media Professional) Message: Encouraged young men to mentor their peers and take leadership in their own lives. Example: Shared an NBA clip where a veteran player corrected a younger teammate, illustrating the impact of peer-to-peer mentorship. Key Topics Discussed Education & Mentorship Exposure to positive role models is critical. Schools need higher expectations for students to encourage success. Field trips, career days, and entrepreneurship programs can expand interests beyond sports. Teaching accountability, discipline, and work ethic prepares young men for adulthood. Reentry & Employment Readiness Addressing trauma, addiction, and lack of role models is key to successful reintegration. Mentorship programs help returning citizens avoid pitfalls. Faith-based approaches provide a strong foundation for long-term change. Overcoming Conflict & Social Barriers Teaching young men how to manage conflict and take responsibility for their actions. Encouraging self-improvement rather than succumbing to peer pressure. Learning to pivot when faced with setbacks (e.g., injuries ending sports careers) Closing Thoughts The event emphasized the importance of faith, mentorship, and community support in guiding men and boys toward success. Panelists provided practical solutions, including education, job training, and strong role models, to address societal challenges. Pastor Hudson concluded by encouraging continued engagement with organizations supporting men and boys, urging everyone to "be a landmark"—a visible, stable, and guiding presence for others. This event provided valuable insights, encouragement, and resources to equip men and boys for success in life, work, and relationships. Next Steps: Follow up with recommended organizations and programs. Continue mentorship and community involvement. Plan future forums to expand on key topics.
Event Objectives:Familiarize yourself with the 2017 updated definitions suggested work up and treatment of pediatric hypertension.Understand the acute and long term complications of pediatric hypertension.Obtain a basic understanding of indications and interpretation of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.Claim CME Credit Here!

Send us a textOk, You're going to love it. It's a great game. And, it's easy to play.First, Obtain a 20-sided polygonal artifact (hereafter referred to as the Orb of Random Fate), as well as a collection of various other polyhedral trinkets with sides numbering 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12. The Orb of Random Fate should be stored in an arcane pouch (or sock) when not in use. If you forget the sock, this is bad luck, and all rolls will be cursed unless you perform a dance of atonementNext, Select one of the following archetypes: The Sword-Wielder, The Sneaky One, The Magical Zappy Person, The Religious Healer, or The Other One. Name them something overly complicated like “El'thezarion Moonschard IV, Keeper of the Eternal Bagel” or just “Dave.” Roll a 7-sided die (which doesn't exist, so you must approximate this with a 20-sided die divided by π) to determine your alignment, but only if your favorite fruit is a citrus. If not, your alignment is Neutral Chaotic Nocturnal. The RoE will describe a scenario (probably involving a dragon, a dungeon, or a dragon in a dungeon). Respond in character using only interpretive dance, haikus, or mimed gestures. Verbal speech is allowed but must rhyme. If you fail to rhyme, your character takes existential damage. And, that's how you play D&D.Anyone who has ever decided to play a new game for the first time and has let their friends explain it to them has experienced this. The overly complicated and ridiculous rules description. And, if you've been playing this hobby for long enough your can really relate. Back in the day we didn't have the internet and Actual Play Podcasts to watch or listen to so that we could understand how this TTRPG thing worked. We had to read a set of rules, that often had pages numbered in the hundreds to try and figure it out.Seriously. TTRPG rulebooks make IKEA instructions seem easy.Convincing someone to take a big chunk of their day, sit down, and play a game, with tomes for rulebooks is a hard sell. So, how do we encourage new players to give this great and wonderful hobby a go? How do we get them excited about the game? How do we get them playing? And, how do we keep them after their first session?Encouraging new players isn't easy, but luckily, thanks to the internet we have the perfect introduction to roleplaying.I give you 4 minutes and 15 seconds of Debrah Ann Woll, the actress from Daredevil and True Blood, teaching John Bernthal, the actor from Walking Dead and Punisher how to play Dungeons and Dragons. That is what I call perfection and what we are going to be talking about on today's episode.https://youtu.be/JpVJZrabMQE?si=Rv_YyLQ1QNa89Pj0

Season Two is finally here!!! In this episode of the podcast, the hosts explore Chapter 1 of Unreadable, focusing on how urban learners are moving away from traditional reading toward orality—a natural, story-based way of learning. Don Barger and Grant Lovejoy bring unique insights, blending field experience and academic research. Their findings reveal a significant shift in how people consume information, favoring connection, storytelling, and online platforms. The discussion highlights how these trends impact faith communication. Through anecdotes, such as a PhD student's preference for auditory learning and a woman discovering faith through online forums, the episode underscores the power of storytelling, understanding the audience, and authenticity. Listeners are challenged to adapt their methods of engagement, embracing humility and creativity to connect with a world increasingly oriented toward orality. The episode ends with an optimistic call to view these changes as avenues for transformative communication. This season, we introduce two new guest hosts! We hope you enjoy the second season of That Reminds Me of a Story!
Private Information Retrieval (PIR) is a cryptographic primitive that enables a client to retrieve a record from a database hosted by one or more untrusted servers without revealing which record was accessed. It has a wide range of applications, including private web search, private DNS, lightweight cryptocurrency clients, and more. While many existing PIR protocols assume that servers are honest but curious, we explore the scenario where dishonest servers provide incorrect answers to mislead clients into retrieving the wrong results. We begin by presenting a unified classification of protocols that address incorrect server behavior, focusing on the lowest level of resistance—verifiability—which allows the client to detect if the retrieved file is incorrect. Despite this relaxed security notion, verifiability is sufficient for several practical applications, such as private media browsing.Later on, we propose a unified framework for polynomial PIR protocols, encompassing various existing protocols that optimize download rate or total communication cost. We introduce a method to transform a polynomial PIR into a verifiable one without increasing the number of servers. This is achieved by doubling the queries and linking the responses using a secret parameter held by the client. Losing a loved one is a time of profound grief and confusion, and the practical tasks that follow can feel overwhelming. Settling a loved one's estate requires careful attention and preparation. Let's walk through six financial steps to take during this challenging time, all underpinned by prayer and reliance on God's guidance.Begin with PrayerBefore addressing financial matters, take time to pray. Invite God into your decisions and ask for wisdom. James 1:5 reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.”Prayer offers clarity and comfort, helping you approach the estate settlement process with confidence and peace, knowing the Holy Spirit is interceding on your behalf (Romans 8:26).Step 1: Obtain the Death CertificateThe death certificate is a critical legal document you'll need to settle your loved one's affairs. It's usually prepared by the medical examiner and provided through the funeral home. You'll need multiple copies for various purposes, such as notifying financial institutions, filing taxes, and starting probate. If you don't receive the death certificate within a few weeks, contact the funeral home or your local vital records office.Step 2: Begin the Probate ProcessTake the death certificate and the will to your county probate office to file a petition to begin probate. As the executor, you can then carry out the deceased's wishes. If there's no will, the process becomes more complex. You'll still petition the court to begin probate and may request to be named administrator of the estate. However, the court will decide how the estate is distributed according to state law. For guidance, consider consulting a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA). Visit FaithFi.com and click “Find a Professional” to find a trusted advisor.Step 3: Notify Financial Institutions and AdvisorsInform the deceased's financial institutions, banks, and financial advisors of their passing. Advisors can help identify assets and ensure they're handled correctly.Check for accounts with Transfer on Death (TOD) or Payable on Death (POD) instructions. These accounts can often bypass probate, simplifying the process.Additionally, notify the three credit reporting agencies—Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. Provide the death certificate to close accounts and check for fraudulent activity.Step 4: Address Insurance PoliciesContact the deceased's life insurance company to begin the claims process and provide the death certificate and policy details. Also, cancel other unnecessary insurance policies, such as auto or disability insurance, to avoid ongoing payments for no longer required services.Step 5: Notify Government AgenciesEnsure the appropriate government agencies are informed of your loved one's passing. The funeral director often notifies Social Security but confirm that this has been done.Notify Medicare and, if applicable, the VA or other government programs. This step helps avoid complications and ensures benefits are properly adjusted.Step 6: File Final TaxesThe final step is filing the deceased's taxes, including any outstanding returns. This is often best handled by a professional, such as a CPA, to ensure compliance and accuracy. While these tasks may seem overwhelming, prayer and preparation can guide you through. Remember, you are not alone in this journey. Lean on God's wisdom and the support of trusted professionals to navigate this season with grace and confidence. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:My able-bodied older sister has been relying on our family for financial support for the past 8 years, even though the work she chooses doesn't provide enough income. Should I pay off the remaining mortgage, which would increase my monthly payment, or should I get a car that would cost around $20,000, which would lower my monthly payment? I don't know where to get the money to do either. My 91-year-old dad has a $3,500-$4,000 monthly shortfall in his long-term care expenses and is down to his last $25,000. I'm considering a reverse mortgage for him, as this could allow him to stay in his home for another 2.5 years. What are your thoughts on the different types of reverse mortgages and whether this could be a good option for his situation?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly PublicationMovement MortgageNational Christian Foundation (NCF)Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000. Andrew created Empathy Unbound to promote the idea that empathy is one of our greatest superpowers — one that we often don't recognize or use enough. As Andrew explains, “The ability to take on the experience or position of another to help understand them is invaluable. Putting ourselves in someone else's shoes helps us understand their situation in a way we couldn't otherwise.” You can find the Empathy Unbound podcast wherever you get your podcasts.

Darshan discusses the five most common clinical trial site issues:1. Failure to Follow Investigational Plan: Treating clinical trials like routine medical practice instead of strictly following the protocol can lead to serious issues.2. Inadequate and Inaccurate Records: The FDA emphasizes that if it's not documented, it didn't happen. Inaccurate records can lead to compliance problems.3. Inadequate Drug Accountability: Not knowing where your investigational product has gone is a major issue. The FDA expects thorough tracking and accountability.4. Failure to Obtain and Document Subject Consent: Consent issues are a big problem, with 9% of clinical trial issues related to improper or insufficient documentation of consent.5. Inadequate Subject Consent: Obtaining consent is critical, and inadequate consent is a common and problematic issue. For help with clinical trial compliance, contact Darshan. Support the show

State investigators say they have a crucial piece of evidence from a police shooting in 2021. Winston Smith was shot and killed at the top of a parking garage in the Uptown neighborhood of Minneapolis while sitting in his car. The BCA believed the only video of the incident was from Winston Smith himself recording on his phone. But it wasn't until now, that officials say they were able to unlock the phone and watch the video. MPR News senior reporter Sarah Thamer joins Minnesota Now to talk about what this video means for the case.

How do we get an OP report and how long are OP reports available before they go away?We do have a Review of the Week so we are going to get into that and then I'm going to go over OP reports. This review is from Brittanyhenley9478. She says, “Such an amazing resource.” Her review says, “I am pregnant with my second baby and will try for a VBAC in 4 months. Since finding this podcast, I have learned so much and gained a lot of confidence in my decisions. I'm so thankful for the podcast, their Instagram, and the website. I can't wait to come back and share my successful VBAC story with them later this year.” Brittany, if you are still listening to us and you are still with us, let us know how your birth went. I hope that it was amazing and thank you so much for your review. You guys, I say it every single week multiple times a week now, we love your reviews. I seriously love them so much. Again, you can find that at thevbaclink.com and of course, you can check it all out for free and again, enter your email in and we will make sure to get you those weekly emails. Okay, I'm going to go really quickly today but I really feel this is such an important thing to know. It's not something that I one, knew was even a choice that I could have or two, was something that I should do so I could really learn more and understand more of what my provider was saying about my births and the reasons why the births happened with my body and my post-recovery and all of these things. It's so good to know what they are saying about your procedure and your Cesarean, your birth. So okay. Steps to get OP reports. There are multiple ways and I know since I started requesting my reports back in 2015, it has changed a lot. A lot of people have an online portal with your provider where you can get your labs and a lot of these things. A lot of the times, their OP reports are included in there or there is a little drop-down option where you can request your OP reports. So if you have that, I highly suggest trying that or you can call your provider and ask for your medical records and your OP report. Sometimes they don't really have them and they don't want to give them to you so they may make you go to the medical records department in the hospital. Now, that is what I had to do. I called my hospital that I gave birth at. It was the same hospital for both of my babies so if you have to go to multiple hospitals, definitely make phonecalls so you're not running around. Give them a call and say, “Hi. I really want to request my OP reports. I've had a Cesarean. What do I need to do to get those?” For me, I had to go in and request them with a form. It took about 5 minutes. It was really quite quick and easy and it took about 15 minutes to print them out. They did give me a hard copy which I loved having so I could highlight and write down and everything. But these forms are so important for you to have so you can understand and then for me, I did it before I was pregnant and I used it so I could have this form with me as I was going to find my supportive provider so they could have a better, deeper understanding of what was said about me and my body and my reasoning for a Cesarean. I want to give you a little bit of a warning. Sometimes you'll find different reasons from what you were told and that can be very frustrating so just a heads up there. Another thing that is important to remember is that every state is different. They don't just have these medical records saved on file forever. Here in Utah, I was told that it was 7 years. I know that it varies all around. I know Arizona is 6 years. New York, I think, is 6 years. Florida is 8 years. California and Utah, like I said, I think is 7 years. So definitely get your records as soon as you can. Now, I know most people are having babies anywhere from 1-5 years apart but I do think the sooner the better you can get these records is just better. So again, check out the portal. Call your provider. Go to medical records. Do whatever you can to obtain these OP reports and if you have a hard time understanding them, they have all of these weird things in there, don't hesitate to reach out to your provider and say, “What does this mean? What did you mean by this?” I have also done one-on-one consults with many people to go over and process their medical records and help them come up with a path for what their next step could be for their future births and VBAC. I'm no medical professional by any means but I have been doing this for years and love doing it so if you would like to learn more about a one-on-one consult, you can email us at info@thevbaclink.com. I would absolutely love to chat with you. Okay, everybody. Like I said, it was going to be short and sweet, but I really, really think it is important. If you are preparing for your VBAC, put this on the list of things to do. If you have just had a Cesarean, put that on the thing too to request. You don't even have to look at it right now. It's something you can have and put away but I do believe so much that it is important to have these and understand what our providers are saying and writing down about us. Okay, everybody. We'll talk to you later. ClosingWould you like to be a guest on the podcast? Tell us about your experience at thevbaclink.com/share.
