A large cardiovascular outcomes trial in high-risk adults with type 2 diabetes showed that a dual incretin therapy was noninferior to an established comparator for major adverse cardiovascular events over four years, with similar overall safety but more gastrointestinal side effects and no added cardiovascular benefit. Separate trials demonstrated that a single-bolus thrombolytic was as effective and safe as standard infusion therapy for acute ischemic stroke while simplifying workflows, and that vascular brain injury and inherited risk independently increase dementia risk, underscoring the importance of aggressive management of modifiable vascular factors.

Drawing on attachment theory and years of EFT training experience, they explore “caregiving nightmares”—those predictable moments when a partner can't respond with comfort, even when their loved one is wide open and reaching. They unpack how pursuers and withdrawers each bring their attachment strategies into the caregiving role: withdrawers often “loan out their avoidance” as a form of love, and pursuers “up the ante” as their way of fighting for the bond. Rather than shaming these moves or bypassing them to “get to the heart,” James and Ryan show how to move toward the blocks themselves as emotional material, validating the attachment logic inside them and using structured, attuned interventions to help partners reclaim their caregiving systems. With rich clinical examples, regulation strategies for therapists, and practical language you can use tomorrow, this episode helps you trust the process, trust the caregiving system, and stay with the red lights long enough for new attachment experiences to emerge. Main Points from the Episode Framing: “Caregiving Nightmares” & Red Lights  - Focus on stage 2 / step 6 caregiving positions, and the “back half” of vulnerable enactments.    - The “red light” is the blocked caregiving system: the partner can't offer simple comfort even when they want to. Predictable Attachment Patterns in Caregiving  - Withdrawers as caregivers:    - “Loan out their avoidance” or self-reliance: advice, positivity, “be comfortable in your own skin.”      - This is a form of love and responsiveness, but often misattuned.    - Pursuers as caregivers:      - “Up the ante”: test, push, or kick the tires on vulnerability (“it's just words,” “you only do this in here”).      - Driven by hope and fear of being dropped again. Therapist Regulation & Preparation  - Pre‑regulate before couples sessions; expect blocks as part of the process, not a failure.  - If the therapist dysregulates, you now have three protection systems in the room. Working with Withdrawer Red Lights  - Steps:    1. Regulate yourself.        2. Offer an attuned, assertive interruption (contain the cycle).        3. Give 3–5 concrete validations of the withdrawer's strategy as attachment‑driven care.        4. Reframe the strategy's attachment function (“this is how you love/protect”).        5. Then gently move toward the part that wants to reach.      - Don't bypass the strategy; work with it as emotional material. Working with Pursuer Red Lights  - Normalize that pursuers often lash out or test the first vulnerabilities they've begged for.    - Validate their vision, hope, and fight for the relationship (3–5 validations).      - Help them notice their somatic/empathic response to the partner's pain (1% of reach or comfort).      - Avoid shaming language like “you're going to your head.” Use of Numbers & Repetition  - “Magic” 3–5 validations to regulate a nervous system.    - Sue Johnson's idea: clients often don't really hear you until about the 5th repetition. Tourniquets & Sender Protection  - After a strong send + strong red light, layer tourniquets on the sender so they:    - Feel caught and not blamed.        - Are reinforced to risk again.      - Never make the sender give up their experience just to soothe the blocked caregiver. Trusting the Caregiving System  - Leanne Campbell's idea: trusting the process = trusting the caregiving system.    - People do know how to care; the cycle paralyzes access.      - Our job is to create conditions for that caregiving instinct to re‑emerge experientially. Hope, Respect, and Attachment Change  - Both pursuer protest and withdrawer avoidance are hopeful, survival strategies.    - Change often comes through “begrudging respect”: seeing a partner fight their old pattern for the relationship. We aim to equip therapists with practical tools and encouragement for addressing relational distress. That's the story from Nigeria today. While a wedding party was taking place in the town of Bundu-Kahugu, a small group off young men, volunteer guards fought off armed Fulani for over an hour. The boys never retreated, as they held off the heavily armed attackers with nothing but machetes and handmade pipe guns. Four of the Christian youth were killed, and another six critically wounded. . The terrorists were unable to kidnap a single soul, or burn down any of the homes in the village. One observer told Truth Nigeria: “[The Fulani] attacked from four sides at the same time, at 11:45 pm Friday night.” And he said. “Our town has about 2000 homes, a small police post, a bank, two primary School and a High School. . .It is a Christian town, and we are expanding all the times because of high birthrates.” “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.” (John 15:13) Praise God for the courage of a few young men.  Would you pray for Nigerian Christians this Christmas season. David came in second, behind Avatar at the weekend box office, with $22 million gross receipts. Angel Studios is best known for their production of the films, “Sound of Freedom” and “His Only Son.” Earlier this year, Angel Studios produced “King of kings” — an animated film on the Life of Christ — pulling down $80 million total receipts. Hallmark Features Sexual Perversion Hallmark Channel enters its sixth year of producing Christmas films featuring couples engaged in relationships characterized by sexual perversion. The 2025 GLAAD Studio Responsibility Index shows Hollywood studios decreasing LGBTQ characterization by 24%, 27%, and 29% respectively in the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. 1 John 2:17 reminds us that “the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” Bolsonaro's Son to Run for President in Brazil Brazil's former conservative president has officially started serving his 27-year sentence for attempting to overturn the 2022 election results. Now, Jair Bolsonaro's son has announced he's running for president in 2026. Flavio Bolsonaro says he's conservative on taxes and spending, but more moderate on others. . . He told Reuters, that he's still good with COVID-19 vaccines. 43% of Churchgoers are Pro-Life A recent Family Research Center survey indicates some bad news for American Christians. Only 43% of churchgoers describe themselves now as pro-life, down from 63% two years ago. The survey looked at regular churchgoers — only 44% of the American population. Only 41% of churches bring up the topic of abortion multiple times a year. The Human Coalition, the Family Research Council, and other Christian leaders have issued a public letter to pastors in America pointing out that the life issue is a gospel issue. The letter, signed by Tony Perkins and Dr. Daniel Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary exhorts pastors to 1. Preach the Gospel of Life with clarity and compassion. 2. Proclaim the truth that every unborn child is sacred. 3. Offer the hope of Christ to post-abortive men and women in your pews. And, 4. Equip. . .congregations to be defenders of the vulnerable. 30,000 Attend Turning Point's America Fest in Phoenix Turning Point's America Fest in Phoenix brought in 30,000 Charlie Kirk fans over the weekend. . . The event featured the Who's Who in America conservativism — Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson, Steve Bannon, Vivek Ramaswamy, Donald Trump Jr., and Vice President J.D. Vance. Rifts between the speakers surfaced — on issues related to America First nationalism and policy related to Israel. Younger Republicans are far more hesitant to support Israel than older Republicans, according to a recent You-Gov Survey. Taking one metric for instance, only 10% of twenty-something Republicans favor giving military support to Israel — compared to 49% of Republicans over 65 years of age.  InsiderAdvantage has released presidential approval numbers — Trump stands at 50%. . . The gender gap remains — 34% of American men disapprove of Trump's performance, against 47% of women registering disapproval. Gold Charges Upwards and Condo Prices Rise Gold is still charging upwards — now $4,438 per ounce, and silver upwards of $68 and change. Condo prices, seen as the canary warning in the mines for real estate — are sinking fast right now. Florida condos have dropped 15-30% from 2022 highs. Texas condo prices are down 15-20%, and Colorado Condos prices are down 10-15%. Add 11% for inflation and we're looking at a 20-40% contraction on the 2022 bubble. In this Christmas sermon from the "Rethinking Christmas" series, Pastor Jeremy focuses on how we can "offer more" to others because of what Jesus has done for us. Using John 1:1-18 as his primary text, Pastor Jeremy explains that this passage serves as an "abstract" or synopsis of the entire Gospel of John, introducing Jesus as the Word, the Light, and the source of all things. Pastor Jeremy emphasizes four key ways we can offer more: more light through our actions and attitudes; more truth by verbalizing our faith (not just being different but explaining why); more grace by showing patience and forgiveness; and more love through self-sacrifice. He explains the difference between justice (getting what we deserve), mercy (not getting what we deserve), and grace (getting something good we don't deserve), noting that God gives us "grace upon grace." The sermon concludes with the reminder that Jesus came because "God so loved the world" (John 3:16), and because He first loved us, we can love others. Pastor Jeremy challenges anyone who hasn't decided to follow Jesus to do so before leaving.

Full Transcript Below: When Christmas Doesn’t Look the Way You HopedBy: Michelle Lazurek Bible Reading:“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:16 I'm not coming home for Christmas. These words hit hard when my husband and I realized my son would not be home for Christmas this year. In his third year of college, he has a girlfriend and wants to spend Christmas with her and her family. While we love who he's with and want him to have a good relationship with her family, it hurts us deeply that we won't get to see him during one of our favorite times of the year. For me, my favorite part of Christmas is not opening presents for myself, but watching my children open their presents on Christmas morning. It just won’t be the same without him. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one or a loved one won't be at Christmas like you'd hoped, you are not alone. Many of us will have a different type of Christmas this year. Sometimes it's because family and loved ones can't make the trip to see you. For others, it's a financial issue, and relatives can't afford to buy presents like they used to. A great way to make the most of the holidays, even if they don't look like you remember, is to create new traditions. While it's OK to have feelings like anger and sadness over the loss of years past, the best way to forge ahead is to make new memories in this new chapter in your life. For us, it means making the most of having our daughter home in the few remaining years she has left with us. It also means connecting with our son through Zoom or phone so we can be together for the holidays. It is difficult to hold on to hope when it seems like all is lost. The above verse tells us that when we hold out hope for something that seems far beyond our reach, it can feel as if our life is falling apart. However, God is a God of miracles. He can turn any situation to his advantage. Above all, he can respond to requests, even the most difficult ones, in a moment. The verse above reminds us not to give up hope. Keep on praying. Keep on asking God to answer your prayer request, even if it has been years. Christmas is a time for miracles! Our ability to still pray for situations that seem nearly impossible tests our faith, stretching and growing us spiritually. God wants us to rely on him and ask him in faith for anything. Although we may not always get what we ask for, it is essential that we still ask and pray, trusting that God will allow the situation to turn out exactly as he wants. Consider new ways to make the most of your holiday. Make contact with your relatives who won't be able to make the trip. Offer to pay for gifts for a loved one who is financially strapped this year. Observe the true meaning of the season by being the hands and feet of Christ, especially during the holiday season. Although the holidays are meant to be joyful, they aren't for everyone. Sometimes people grieve deep losses during the holidays. Just because someone is suffering doesn't mean you can't help them make the most of it. If you're the one grieving, lean on others for help. Don't be afraid to ask for prayer or for help from those who can offer it. It may mean your family members bring the side dishes while you provide the main entree for the holiday meal. Perhaps it means not giving gifts this year. Whatever you need to do, do it to make your holiday the best it can be. Even if it's not the way you hoped, do what you need to do. Christmas ultimately is not about gifts or extravagance. Instead, it is about spending time with loved ones who are near you. It is also a great way to connect with those who are far away. If your relatives can't come to you, go to them and make the effort to see them. Pray and ask God for everything, even the situations that seem hopeless. Don't allow your heart to be troubled. Instead, make the most of your holiday season and do what you can to connect with loved ones and observe the real meaning of the season. Father, let us be people who remember who you are and what the holiday season is for. Let us remember that Christmas is not about gifts, but instead about being connected to family. Let us reach out to communicate with family members who cannot make it this season. Amen.
